Problem ODBC

My network consists of a XP SP3 and a network of SQL2005.  I connect to SQL via an ODBC on the XP tables.  The reboot of the XP, I can connect via ODBC for a period of time, maybe 10 minutes.  Then, the connection is lost.  I have to restart to access SQL server again.  I can map to sql server, if the network is intact.  I have another pc under WIN NT very old.  It does not lose the ODBC connection.
Do I need a new odbc driver?  Thank you.
This situation occurs when SQL server was SQL2000, so I've updated to SQL2005 to see if it would interrupt the loss of connectivity.  I had first applied to the SQL2000 Server SP4.

SQL server is running on Windows Server 2003 SP2.

    I am facing a problem for ODBC drivers as I installed client Run-time Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit. Client has successfully installed can't seem to connect to the server database using input TNS through Sql in my command prompt, but the problem is that I am not able to create all the drivers ODBC in Control Panel (ODBC Administrator) Am not able to find a driver to configure a data source.

    Using this data source, we need to connect to the database of an application.

    but he has not found drivers. I have not found any odbc folder in the oracle client home. Could you please suggest what to do next.

    Now, we know that you have installed the 11.2 customer.  As I say, the ODBC drivers are NOT installed by default on this version.

    And if you do as I said in my last post:

    a default installation, then go back and do a "custom" installation, by specifying the same ORACLE_HOME as before and by selecting the ODBC components.

    Hello

    Everything depends on you dense dimension used in your export, it will use one column for each Member.
    For example, if the dense dimension on the export was time and you were doing an export from level 0 (Level0 time members are Jan: Dec)
    So we should do a column for each dimension and 12 columns for each of the periods (Jan: Dec)

    The best way out is to export to a file first in a column, and you will see how the table should be addressed.

    Columns must exactly match the exported data.

    Take a look at this post, it something you can meet this way:- Re: DATAEXPORT command periods in columns in rare

  • Error when import to Oracle table (OBIEE Server Client 32-bit & 64-bit)

    Hi all

    Problem: ODBC/OCI connectivity problem between OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 server (64-bit) and OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 machine local BP1 client (32-bit).

    We have an 11.1.1.6.2 BP1(64-bit) OBIEE Setup on a 'Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise' 64-bit machine.

    OBIEE dev team members have 32-bit local machines.
    OBIEE "Admin member of the team" (who will work on RPD) to OBIEE 11 g customer (BP1) installed on their * 32-bit local machine * (which is a common software for 32/64-bit).

    Now, two ODBC connections have been created on this local 32-bit Client computer, client 11g OBIEE installed on it.
    A "server BI driver" for the OBIEE server machine(64-bit) to open the RPD and other connection with "Oracle database driver" to connect to the Oracle 64-bit desktop databaseto import tables.

    With this configuration made, I am able to open the RPD in online mode and mode sampleapp existing related objects present in it.
    But when I try to import metadata to the client admin OBIEE tool using the BEAK or ODBC, it gives an error "connection failed!"

    I have the tns required in my tnsnames.ora file entry and I am able to connect to this database on the local client computer, using sqlplus.

    Kindly let me know if there are restrictions in the use of such a combination of settings for 32-bit machines and 64 bits for OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 setup.
    If this isn't the case, so what are the steps to do the btw client 64 bit and 32 bit OBIEE OBIEE server configuration to create the table of import job.

    You can try using the OIC instead of ODBC connection type?
    Implementation of the native ODBC drivers is not always do the job.

    Also, make sure you have defined the TNS_ADMIN environment variable.

    I have studied and found that the login to the people itself fails (App Designer Trace below). I worked with the DBA here and concluded that, "the connection is does NOT in the database". So, it looks like problem ODBC.

    ('' People '' subsidies are already provided).

    However ODBC will display correct system DSN and also - Test connection is successful.

  • Connect OBIEE Admintool to hive: problems with ODBC. Any option?

    We are facing a blocking problem when you try to connect to an instance of hive Admintool using an ODBC driver.

    For a CEP, we are trying to set up a domain of hive to analyze in OBIEE. Everything seems to work OK

    until we try to load the metadata. In this case, the schema is found but not table under him. We can add the

    Physics of table by hand, and then we can successfully launch the number of lines. We then try to load the lines, but to

    the point that we have faced a strange behavior. But summarize the steps we have taken.

    (1) we downloaded ODBC drivers to connect to the hive (we tried with Hortonworks, Cloudera, Microsoft and)

    MapR, but the results are the same);

    (2) we have set up the connection to the hive on port 10000 and successfully run the ODBC test (BTW: to)

    SQLDeveloper we can connect to the same server via the JDBC driver and query the tables here);

    (3) then we start Admintool. Once we have defined the name and the password, we then select the ODBC connection.

    in fact there aren't strictly necessary user name and password, but we offer them anyway;

    (4) the next step is to load the metadata; and here is the first issue, because we can see the patterns but not

    the tables.

    Connection_OBIEE_BigData.PNG

    (5) anyway we are going on and insert a schema (we read there could be problems with more than one schema, then)

    We simply select one); in a blog (by Rittman, who really is 'THE' guru OBIEE) it is said that the tables are not

    loading directly, so we tried simply adding a physical table in the physical layer as the default schema.

    making sure the table exists;

    (6) once we have added 'physically' table that we proceed with the number of lines; and we get correctly the number of

    ranks once we overview the name of table after that;

    (7) then we try to retrieve the lines and the question; We get the following error message:

    ErroreSQL.PNG

    We also dug a bit little and concluded that the request received by hive instead of being

    SELECT * FROM trucks

    it becomes

    SELECT FROM trucks

    If the ' *' is passed to the SQL statement sent. If we run the same query on the Beehive, we get

    exactly the same exception ParseException error, it really seems that there is a problem in the

    construction of the SQL statement.

    Any idea about this problem? (if a fix exists, because after so many attempts, we are convinced

    This is a bug that can only be fixed by a new version of Admintool)

    BTW: we have tried almost all the possible options for the ODBC driver (such as 'native of use request',

    ("Use Unicode" and so on) and in regards to the Admintool, we have not seen what option

    or preferably (at the physical layer) can influence this anomaly.

    Any help is really, really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    OK, I got what you're saying. I mean, to focus on the bigger picture. If you can make a data view or list Table to import metadata is a bit unrelated to the final goal. Annoying, but irrelevant. What you try to do, is get OBIEE to build queries dynamic SQL based on the logical requests which will submit your users via presentation against the presentation layer Services.

    Continue to build your SPR (ignorant that display data does not work) at a very simple level, with a single fact/Sun in the business model, single domain - and then run an appropriate query generated in answers through it. The point of all this is to see how OBIEE SQL query then generates, and if it's worth a one hive.

    Thank you

    Alex.

    Ed, I could just figure it out and I could actually find this solution everywhere else (thanks to Bogdan, a friend who recommended to check)

    The initPG_LINK.ora library was wrong and I dind´t had a simple way to find the right way:

    • I set the variable on my environment (there, I created a global file for odbc)
    export ODBCSYSINI=/etc

    • I tried to connect to the remote database to PostgreSQL with isql and it worked as well, the library was present.
    • Then, I checked on the isql libraries called< and="" this="" is="" probably="" the="" best="" way="" to="" avoid="" wasting="">
    [root@oracle ~]# which isql
    /usr/local/bin/isql
    [root@oracle ~]# ldd /usr/local/bin/isql

            /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x0000003183c00000)

    • I added this line (/ usr/local/lob/lobodbc.so.2) in the HS file.
    • Then, I added the ENVS with LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting to the location of the library
    SID_LIST_LISTENER=
      (SID_LIST=
        (SID_DESC=
          (SID_NAME=PG_LINK)

          (ENVS="LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib64:/usr/lib:/u01/oracle/product/11.2.0.4/lib")
          (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
        )
      )

    A finally it worked!

    Thank you

    Alex.

  • Oracle and ODBC problem

    I'm in the following situation, I use a commercial software that connects as a client to a server Oracle 11 g for the ODBC protocol (works 24/7). I did not administer the database and what happens, is that when the administrator stops the database with the command "stop immediately", the journal of software code get code oracle ORA-3114 not connected to Oracle. This is normal, because the instance of the business application was canceled, the problem is that when the database is started, the code 'ORA-3114 not connected to Oracle' is still there, so I'm still without a connection to the db.

    For what is this:

    1 - What is the DBA has a way (code or configuration) to restart my instance? or avoid this situation?

    2 - I I don't know the reason for the power outages in the comics (maybe is necessary), but in the company, the environment is a bad practice or common OFF the comics without notice to other important services? Or the new instance is the responsibility of the application?

    3 - What are best practices for a DBA to work with client applications for high availability?

    4 - from the point of view of the ODBC connection, there are parameters that can be done to restore a new instance?

    Any advice will be appreciated, looks.

    Yes when I restart the client application, everything works fine. so given your answer could there is a limitation of the ODBC to reopen this kind of connections? (The oracle instance is the only cut that does not turn to listen) Your answer caught my attention because or is a software bug or a limitation of the ODBC.

    What do you mean by 'the oracle instance is the only cut that does not turn to listen '?

    It is not a software bug.  Please reread my post above.  It is essential to client-server architecture.  It is NOT the responsibility of the server at startup process, try to find any process of potential customer who has been disconnected and reconnect.  It is basically impossible.  If possible, it would be a huge security breach in network architecture.  No, it is the responsibility of a client process, if it disconnects from the server, in order to "do what is necessary."  This could mean trying to reconnect so often to such or such an interval for such or such a time.  This could mean sending a warning message to someone.  But it is up to the client to detect and react, not the server.

    And Yes, the odbc has a few design limitations (no bugs) in that it can receive the server (on behalf of the customer) and pass on to the customer.  Don't forget, in this architecture, the db is concerned the client is ODBC.  Now that talking to the database.

    MINISOFT DIAGRAM Editor is where we can 'Add' / specify the structure of the table in XML format. HP3000 specified each field starting character and the number of characters. So a typical structure of the XML file would look like to...

    ODBC and AMT and heterogeneous, and all services do not give a flying fig about your tables or your data. They are involved in obtaining a request from the client to the database. They do not know or care what is this application.

    DBLink is a structure within an oracle database that gives a pointer to this database to a different database. It allows this database (the one containing the definnition of the dblink) Act as a client to the database referenced by the dblink. To the point that a request passes through a dblink, this database (the one with the link) is just another client issuing a request for AMT to the network.

    Yet once again, I don't really know anything about this product from Minsoft, I'm just trying to clarify the basic concepts of how TNS and ODBC relate.

  • Problem of driver ODBC Oracle when trying to create a data source / Win XP

    Hi guys,.

    hope I'm here with my question.

    When I try to create or data source in Windows (regardless if user or system data source), and then click 'Test connection', I get this error:
    * [SQLAllocHandle from Microsoft] [ODBC Driver Manager] drive on SQL_Handle_ENV failed *.

    TNS name is correct, tnsname.ora is correct, the user is correct.

    I have the driver for an OraClient10g is installed on my machine.

    I'll reinstall this package? Other things to do to fix this?

    Many thanks for any help,

    Christian

    someon claimed that it is permission problem when installing.

  • ODBC Oracle 64-bit Windows application connection problem

    My 64 bit Windows 7 machine company has installed with 64-bit customer of Oracle 11 g. I created a 64-bit dsn system and successfully tested the connection.

    Question: Now, when I'm trying to connect to the database with this dsn, it throw error ("data source name not found and no driver specified default") below. Shows side left the system dsn that I created and tested, and the right side shows the error. And my code in a VBS file as below. Kindly help me to solve this problem.

    The value of result = CreateObject ("ADODB. Recordset')
    Set DBConnection = CreateObject ("ADODB. Connection")

    DBConnection.Open sdsn1_64

    DBConnection.Close

  • Problem after 10g to the conversion of 11g with access ODBC application connection.

    We have recently updated one of our databases Oracle 10.2.0.4 on 11.2.0.4.0.  We used Data Pump export of database 10g and the new database 11g Data Pump import.  Everything went well.  We have several users who use an Access database with an ODBC connection to our Oracle database.  We installed 11g on their PC client and install the tnsnames file to point to the new database 11g.  We have a configuration read only account that everyone uses to connect to the Oracle11g database through the Access application.  We have a user who gets an error, even if this computer has been installed just like everyone elses.  She becomes an odbc error, that the account is locked.  I had the read-only account on our database 10g locked, so everyone would be forced to use the 11g database, because we could not completely stop the 10g database.  We have searched the c:\ drive and you can find 1 tnsnames file and it is directed to the new database 11g.  However when we unlock the account read-only on the 10g database, access works very well.  It is as if she is always directed to the 10g database, but we cannot find any link to it.  This user can also connect another pc that the ODBC connection to server 11g works with the access application and it does not work with them connected.  Any help would be appreciated!

    Our resolution is a slight reorganization of elements of Oracle in the Environment Variable Path in system settings Desktop/Properties/Advanced to ensure that the proper path containing the precise tnsnames.ora file was represented was just what he needed.
