Problem of Eve Portege R100

Dear friends,
I have a problem with my newly purchased Portege R100. When I try to switch (or in hibernation mode, in fact), it starts the process and then stops and displays an error message saying that it is in conflict with the keyboard player and I might need to update this.
Of course when I try to update, it shows not any update for the keyboard drivers.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem and how you solved it.

Thank you
Riccardo

Hi Riccardo

As far as I know, this problem may occur if you use the external keyboard because for now what laptop enters standby or hibernation to stop all active processes. Now there may be some conflicts because many programs or processes can make the problems by putting off circuit.

The external keyboard?

  • Problems with RIS, Portege R100 and, possibly, XP SP2

    Hello

    I have a problem with RIS on my Portege R100, when I try to install Windows XP SP2. I have a problem where he complained that I never had a the network driver needed to use RIS, a quick search in the Intel Web site services showed that there was a new. INF file that should be placed in the folder i386 to enable RIS th work. When I start now in PXE/RIS I move forward, but only a little.

    He seems to have all the necessary files until it says: 'the installation program starts Windows', and then display the BSOD.

    It's very frustrating because I have a number of laptops to build.

    If you need more information do not hesitate to ask.

    Martin

    Hello Martin

    If I understand you just talk about installation service remotely. The problem is that Toshiba supports only the OS. BACK is not supported, but you should try to fix this problem yourself. I'm sure that he can somehow work.

    Good luck!

    I have still a few Probs...

    1. I can not install the toshiba XP sp2 sommon module. the program starts, written one archive temp c and stops somewhere.
    When I want to exit the program, an error occurs: "setup.exe is still ongoing."

    How can I install this thing without error?

    If I can install this correct module, some of my issues have been resolved. I promised!

    Kind regards

    Hello Rita

    I know not all this for you but I just want to post you my theory about all this. Older models of laptops are pre-installed with Windows XP Home SP1 edition (your computer laptop too) and I'm sure that if you are installing your phone by following the instructions of Toshiba you may have success.

    Perhaps you need to install Windows XP Home SP1, all drivers and Toshiba edition tools and after doing this install SP2. When you are finished check Microsoft Windows XP SP2 to update document information and implementing up-to-date all listed stuff. This document, you can find on the download page of Toshiba for your laptop model.

    I know that it is quite complicated, but maybe only way to get all the installed stuff clean and correctly.
    One last thing: maybe you should not install SP3 because it can cause problems with Toshiba tools and utilities feature.

  • PORTEGE R100 CD-ROM recovery problem

    Hi, I had a few problems of recovery PORTEGE R100. My problem is that when I try to reinstall the system with the recovery of the boot disk CD, it does not recognize the CD. The CD-ROM is not a TOSHIBA product. Is there any solution for this?

    Hello

    It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

    You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.

  • Portege R100 - CPU usage 100%

    Hello!

    Everyone knows about this problem?
    My Portege R100 after installing the new copy of Windows XP and directly after the installation of the display driver, Trident (reboot) bizarre behavior.

    Welcome screen goes white on the lower part (when the first yellow line is). Then I have some software problems.

    When to start records search engine, when I update the list of wireless networks and I explore the files by clicking on 'My computer', (this does not happen when I right click on START and 'Explore') displays CPU usage 100% and everything is so slow that I can barely move a cursor.

    Everything goes back to normal once I closed above applications.
    I can install all drivers and all right, but after Trident display it is bad.

    This is the driver I use since I bought the laptop, I do not know that is fine.
    I installed it several times before and I have a few copies of it, which I've already tried so it must be good.

    The cross thing only my mind is a hardware failure.
    Someone of you knows than before?

    Thank you...

    It has nothing to do with your computer - this is the trident driver problem - there is a work - around
    Try changing your display configuration-

    (1) right click on your mouse to the desktop to bring up the display property, and then click Advanced - here, you will see a tab say somethng like 'graphic acceleration.
    (2) reduce the rate of acceleration - move the tab to the left - make sure it is not full
    (3) this trident driver can cause the BONE to redraw the screen whenever you move your mouse with some applications

    If my post is not detail for you
    Try google with the keyword "how to turn off the graphics acceleration in windows xp" - you will get some good instructions

    That will solve your problem!

    Good luck and enjoy your nice laptop!

  • Cannot retrieve Portege R100

    I have some problems with my Portege R100. The HARD drive has been damaged so I bought another, it is already formatted.
    I have also two CD-readers:
    1 Toshiba PX1055E-1NST PCMCIA card reader
    2 key USB Toshiba PA3352U - 1 CD 2

    My problem is that the doesn´t of recovery works! I'll explain just what is the problem:

    I boot from the Flash DRIVE with the recovery disk 1 on the inside. My computer laptop replys with:
    "Windows 98 Startup
    Microsoft RAMDrive version 3.06 virtual disk D:
    Disc size: 16 384 k
    Sector size: 512 bytes
    The allocation unit: 16 sectors
    Directory entries: 64 "

    After that, the screen tells me
    "Driver for external PC for Rev ATAPI IDE drives card: 2204.

    then:
    "ERROR: there is no PCCARD in socket A and B!

    PCCARD not initialized! »

    After some time:
    "ATAPI-CD: CD-ROM ATAPI IDE drive driver.
    ATAPI-CD: Copyright (C) Freecom Technologies 1995-2001.

    After that, in big letters:
    "NO CD/NET.
    a: ".

    If I type "dir", then it displays the list of files. I think it means that the CD-Rom is at work, isn´t it?
    I ve tried a lot of things to get my laptop to work, but nothing seems to help. A person of this discussion forum explained using a normal CD - USB drive to start with.

    I tried different disks and normal versions of Windows XP. Without success!
    What's wrong?
    I m not an expert computer as you can probably, and if someone can help me, please try to expain to a person who is a beginner to computer in this case.

    made with a lot of problems!

  • Portege R100, PXE - boot problem - E61:Media Test failure, check cable

    My portege r100 4004GAH original hard drive has had some problems recently, so I decided to replace it with a bigger 4006GAH. Specifications, it seemed that it would be appropriate.

    So I tried to install standard windows top. Unfortunately as I soon discovered that didn't work and lead to BSOD. I looked online and remembered that I had in fact to use the recovery of three discs. Fortunately for me I still had the freshly sealed and I've also owned a combined remarkable Targus CD drive supported. If in the three discs are gone. All seemed well and after that the last drive ended, I was asked to remove the disc. The laptop has rebooted and then gave me the

    PXE - E61:Media Test failure, check cable
    PXE - M0F: Exit Intel PXE ROM
    Insert system disk
    Press a key to continue...

    I thought it might be in the order of start, but verified that and it seemed right. HD was first. I also changed the order and the same error came.
    I thought while another component of my laptop may be broken. So I put my old hard drive in. It started fine.
    The next thought that the new hard drive was defective.

    Fortunately, this is not the case. Because when I used the recovery disks not only heard disk hard turns to the top, but the hard drives were detected and recovery installation displays the correct memory size.

    I'm completely stumped on hat w what is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

    It is not easy to say what the problem is but you said the Portege started fine with the old HDD. So I think that there is something wrong with the new.

    In your case I test the HARD drive with a special tool like Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HARD drive.
    On the same site is a user's guide if you want to know more.
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

    In addition I am interested in what you have the same problem with a Microsoft installation disc if you have one.
    So try if your HARD disk has no errors.

  • Portege R100 - question about the installation of the USB port and Windows problems

    Hello

    I just bought a used Portege R100, but I have some problems. Of course the laptop isn't a CD or DVD, player so I tried an external DVD drive, but it did not work. What kind of device I have to install Windows (not an edition of recovery or anything like that, but a whole new windows on the formatted HARD drive)?

    I also have another problem: whenever I plug a USB device (I tried the DVD drive external and a USB keyboard) when I start the laptop, it seems to hang. At least, I am not able to type anything more; the keyboard of the laptop is dead (the point where the entrance would still be flashing in the BACK platform, but typing. sth on the keyboard isn't doing anything). It is not normal, is it?

    I also tried to get to the BIOS, but I tried various commands (F1 to F12, DEL etc.), but I couldn't access the BIOS. It would be great if someone could tell me the command for it.

    Thanks in advance for the help and sorry for the bad English, I'm not a native speaker :)

    Try to remove the USB entries in Device Manager, and then restart the device. The ports should be recognized and installed correctly. In my view, it cannot happen without any reason. It will be interesting to know since when this problem started.

  • Portege R100 and Linux - function keys not working do not and the latest version of the BIOS?

    Hello world

    I have a Portege R100 (PPR10L-13G10P). I am trying to install Linux and when you try to access function keys (F6) the computer does not allow me to... no idea why?

    Also, what is the latest version of BIOS for this computer? And where it can be downloaded?

    Thanks in advance!

    Terrence

    Hello

    At first, I must say that Toshiba doesn't support Linux in general if you are alone with this problem.
    I hope that someone will be able to help you a bit.
    If you want to discover the latest version of the BIOS, just enter the BIOS settings and check it out.
    BIOS version latest won't help you at all, so my opinion is that you shouldn't change anything.

    Anyway, the bio download page is - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_bios.jsp

    The feature keys F is supported by special tool Windows and it only works on Windows.

  • Wireless connection on Portege R100

    I have a couple of portege R100. When you connect to my domain, using the wireless connection, the logon scripts fail to run the first time. If you log out, then log in again, the script will run without problem. Y at - it a fix for this problem?

    Hello

    Unfortunately have no proper explanation, but I guess that WLAN cannot be connected so fast that LAN and it may be the reason why the first logon fails. In my opinion it has nothing to do with the functionality of the device and this is just a feature of network.

    Maybe some WLAN expert can give you a good explanation.

    Good luck!

  • Portege R100 and RIPREP

    Hello

    I'm having a problem with RIS and my laptop Toshiba Portege R100. When I try to extract an image from the notebook using riprep, it keeps failing. This happens even with a vanilla XP installation. All other my laptop works very well except this model.

    I noticed that since the file riprep.sif the last lines are missing from the torn picture failure. A successful image should look like this:

    [OSChooser]
    Description = "test image - Toshiba R100"
    Help =' '
    LaunchFile ="%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%\templates\startrom.c om»
    ImageType = SYSPREP
    Version = "5.1 (2600) '"
    SysPrepSystemRoot = "Mirror1\UserData\WINDOWS".
    HalName = halacpi.dll
    ProductType = 0

    An image failed would replace the last few lines with the following information:

    [OSChooser]
    Description = "Windows Professional.
    Help = "this will install Windows Professional in a standard configuration.
    LaunchFile = "%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%\templates\startrom.co m '.
    ImageType = "Flat".

    I also checked the riprep.log file to see if there was no problem there. There are some services that were not arrested before the images were torn off. However, these services also appear in other newspapers of riprep files other images which have succeeded. I also stopped these services before starting the imaging process, but the problem persists.

    I rip an image successfully just now. I showed a colleague what happens when I tried using riprep, and it worked. I was pretty stripped, but this was the first and last time.

    I should also mention that the configuration of the network is DHCP statistics. I also tried to give a static IP address.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    If you need further information do not hesitate to contact me.
