  On my own SP4270 Win2000Pro install case that I came to the conclusion that the problem reside on the base 64 MB of memory on the motherboard, which had deserted somehow 1.1 MB, and so more big programs will not load and the installation procedure for Windows, as well as the entire machine will be completely stuck in about 5 to 10 seconds or at a very early stage in the process.

  But, I would like to have this made installation and in order somehow. Maybe the way is to disable the base memory and then just go with the sticks of memory on the upgrade of two memory locations.

  But, how to disable? Is the only way to throw the motherboard in the trash, or is there another way more decent to handle this, the BIOS v2.70 give any options at all for this...

  I put t believe it s a hardware malfunction, if the problem ONLY occurs with IE Explorer.
  As the above user said, try to install a fresh OS and see if the new installation has resolved the problem.
  Check the operating system for all malware.

  I just got a laptop, Toshiba Satellite Pro 4270... I installed win 98 on it and it works beautifully.

  But then I added LAN PCMCIA card in computer and wanted to do some sufring. I encountered a problem.

  In the next devices, win98 reports error handler:
  The NDIS. VXD, NTKERN. VXD or Chargers device for this device could not load the device driver. (Code 2).

  The card is 3Com Fe575C and I downloaded the latest drivers from www.3Com.com/warranty, but that did not help. I also ran regclean and reinstalled the card after that. Always the same fault. With my own laptop (win2k pro), the card works perfectly with no additional drivers, so the map itself is not defective.

  In addition, the Win98 find PCI card when starting, but I have no driver for that... Where can I get that? It does not specify which card that is...

  I guess it is Win 98 Second Edition You are using on the 4270.
  Please go to driver download site and download the INF-update to the PC Card controller. I think this should solve your problem.

  While you are at it download the other drivers you need more.

• Need advice on the installation of WinXP/2000 on Satellite Pro 4270

  (Sorry for the redundancy of this topic on this forum, too.)

  Please, any suspicion on this strange problem will be appreciated.

  I bought a used Satellite Pro 4270, with totally empty 6 GB drive, a pretty neat and apparently well kept machine...

  But, trying to make a new clean Win2000Pro installed on it, as previously successfully dozens of times on other PC machines, installation will be ending in a minute after that is to start with the 4 on setupdd.sys error!

  On WinXPPro new clean install, that the procedure will be stuck in less than 10 seconds, without any error at all...

  So, it might be the reason the cause?

  I tried several different corrective actions on this machine and guess several reasons, the cause, for example

  -the hard drive works fine on other machines and has also been fully verified and updated in shape at low altitude
  -copies of CD installation I tried several all work fine on other machines
  -the BIOS has been upgrade v2.70 just some time ago
  -the CMOS was turned off, i.e. in default some time ago
  -the machine was torn off at the minumum on audio memory, PCI, USB, etc.
  -the machine must be somehow strangely, which on the BIOS or HDD?
  -are there some 'weird' IDE or other driver disappeared on this case?
  -tests with installing Win98SE and FAT32 will not lead to a better result, just somehow different...

  It's a really bad situation. If you do clean install of the OS you na? t need any special drivers. Everything must be preinstalled when installing the OS is completed successfully.

  If you have a few HARD drive replacement, you should try to use it and see if the HARD drive is certainly not responsible for this. The fact is that W2000 and WXP can be installed successfully on many other old models of laptops and because of that I can't imagine that it is not possible to do the same on your device.

  Is it always that W2000 is supported for this device and you can find that page to download all the drivers of W2000 on Toshiba.

  I Satellite Pro 4280 14 "and have no problem. I bought a second hand Satellite Pro 4270 13 "but the graphics on the screen appear to be slow. Tests using Direct X cube rotation is unclear.   Please be shure that your 4270 13 "is a demonstration of DSTN. The sharpness of a DSTN display cannot be compared with a TFT screen, which is used in the 4280.
  The 13 "the 4270 has a internal resolution of 800 * 600 max. DSTN, 4280 with 14" TFT 1024 * 768.

  Unfortunately, it is not possible to download an older version of BIOS on yout laptop since the BIOS update procedure is written to test later versions pre-installed and not too write.

  You will need to take your laptop to a Service partner certified to have a previous version of the BIOS re-installed.

• Strange problem with the module memory series Satellite Pro 4300

  I have a laptop Toshiba satellite pro 4300 series with 64 MB onboard + 64 MB Module and I want to upgrade my memory to 320 MB. I bought two ram of 128 MB each. I removed the 64 MB module and I put a 128 MB module into the slot (A) one, but I saw that the total memory is 128 MB again.

  I removed the module again and I put the second module in the connector (A), but I saw that the total memory is 128 MB again. After that, I put the two modules in my notebook (Slot A and slot B) but I see that the total memory is 192 MB. This means that it recognizes each module as 64 MB as opposed to 128 MB. Dose anyone know why this happens?

  In my opinion, you should check the bars of memory if they have 128 MB.

  Although the battery is quite new, it is displayed as 'empty' in my Satellite Pro XP 4270. When cross-checking with an another Satellite 4270 Win98 battery works well and indicated as '100% ' in the Toshiba power saver utility.

  Is there a special utility (such as electricity-saving) must be installed for XP? There is no given special driver vor 4270 / XP on the support pages of Toshiba and in view of the Act and so forth is recognized properly - except for the battery.

  the problem is that your machine is too old and was never shipped with XP. So if you didn t find utilities powersaver for XP on toshiba page then you won´t find anything. The machine has never taken supported for XP.

  Safe computer laptop doesn t after upgrading memory due to these different problems;

  -memory modules are not compatible set
  -memory modules are not compatible with the laptop
  -memory modules are defective
  -a memory slots is defective

  In most cases, replace the memory module helps.

  A hint; have you tried to move the modules of memory in the slots? Sometimes it helps.
  A few weeks ago I updated my memory and safe laptop didn t.
  I thought that it s a malfunction of memory, but after the switch module Notepad started successfully.
