• I have XP SP2 and am unable to install SP3. Problems with Windows install & download manager.

  I rebuilt a laptop from scratch using XP Home.  Currently, no software beyond basic MS core apps.  Not even MS Office.  I am trying to activate the automatic updates.

  The error messages that I get point to Windows Installer and/or MS Download Manager, but these same problems prevent me from deleting/updating install or Download Manager.

  If I run FixIt to activate the automatic updates to download SP3, the following error message is returned:

  files using the Microsoft Download Manager.

  I think I'll through in circles.   I need SP3 for automatic updates, but impossible to install SP3 since SP3 is not installed.  I must be missing something obvious, but I simply cannot get by.  I'd appreciate any help - thanks.

  OK, I followed the link clicked on download, saved on my desktop, then tried to start the installation.  The returned message is:

• Problem with Windows 8 downloads

  Hello!

  I have a problem with the driver downloads. I try to download the drivers for my computer laptop l702x XPS for Win8. There is an option (' windows 8 '), but when I try to download anything, I get an error ("file not found").

  It's bad I can't contact Dell support. I am originally from Ukraine, and phone number in the section contact us is incorrect. When I try to chat - there is a message saying that the cat is not available outside the U.S.. This is very stupid, because the problem is related to any version of the dell site.

  Drastic times call for drastic measures! After a few attempts more download Windows 8 with no effect that I decided to do a clean reinstall of Vista Home Premium, after saving my data, here I then carried out a new Windows 8 download via an Ethernet cable.

  Windows 8 download, installed with no problems at all, infact I use Windows 8 now that I type this message.
  I admit a bit drastic, but it worth it. I hope this helps all of our readers.

  Since IE9 download, I had problems with Windows Mail.  Like others, I lost the box that says, "some pictures have been blocked to help prevent the sender from identifying your computer.  Click here to download the images. "With my mail, I'm able to get a preview of the e-mail for 60 seconds before it actually opens and this is where the above 'box' appeared.  Now when I preview the email, this box is not there and I don't see one of the photos.  If I open the electronic mail, the box is there and I can click on one to see all the pictures.  The problem/question for me is I don't want to open the email to see all the pictures: I want to display them in preview mode, so I know what I'm opening!  Help!
