Problem Re-partitioning drive of Fusion after deleting Windows

Hello

So last night I decided I wanted to do a clean install of El Capitan on my computer. I have two partitions, one of El Capitan and a Windows. Stupidly I didn't read upward how to uninstall properly the Windows partition (using the BootCamp assistant), instead I reformatted BOTH of the partitions on the disk utility, when do the clean install of El Capitan thought, I just re-partition with disk utility, which did not work.

I then opened assistant BootCamp and tried to do it properly and received this message:

The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.

The startup disk must be formatted in a single volume in Mac OS extended (journaled) or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.

Now, both partitions are formatted as Mac OS journaled readers.

I'm a bit of a loss what to do, thank you for all of the solutions I hope you might have.

N

First of all, you have a Fusion drive? If so, is a part of the score of the merger and the other outside the merger?

You try to do just a Fusion Drive partition?

  • "Hard drive - (3F0) BootDevice not found" after deleting Windows

    Hello.

I have a ProBook s 4530 accompanying pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm a Linux user for a long time, so the first step that I took after the purchase was reducing the OS partition and install Arch Linux on the free space created. I used the laptop in this configuration for something like a year now, but since I rarely even start on Windows, I decided to save free space by deleting them entirely. You use cfdisk, I deleted their partitions.

After a short time (about a day), I got off the machine, and I found a few old labelless CD I wanted to inspect. I started the calculated and inserted in the drive. It was obvious that it was a Windows XP installation CD, so I turned off the computer (before it has completed the phase of loading drivers).

(It is likely that the previous paragraph is unrelated to the error message, because the installation should not even touch the disk at this stage.) I also do not restart often, so I'm not sure that makes the computer startup between the removal of the partition and start the Windows XP CD.)

The next time I tried to start the PC, I was greeted with "Hard Disk - BootDevice (3F0) not found." All HP diagnostics were OK, and when I loaded GRUB on a live Ubuntu CD to my hard drive, it starts normally.

I admit the BIOS could be confused in some way by the partition table I, it starts with lots of free space and has no NTFS partitions, but I think that BIOS should not depend on the OS that I run. So, I have a few questions:

    1. The HP BIOS is trying to detect Windows, and it doesn't do anything differently if it does not find Windows hard disk? I googled around and did not find anyone with experience running as Linux on my laptop (just dual-boot).
    2. If so, is there some way I could convince them to begin the hard drive even through it is not Windows on it?

    Thank you.

Then he turns the laptop was confused because no partition has been marked as active. My bad.

  • Efi partition damaged or corrupted after installing windows 10

Well, I had another post on this subject, but I decided I want to start a new thread that I have eliminated a lot of things and feel that I reduced it down to start EFI partitions.  Here is the fall back on what has caused all this. I had a copy perfectly fine working of Windows dualbooted with Ubuntu 10. The two operating systems works great and I have not had any problems with resetting. After updating to win10 everything was peachy, but there were a few complications with grapchics drivers so I decided to do a clean install and just drag all the old baggage, which has solved THIS problem. However, when I did that, without thinking I just deleted all partitions and let the windows installation program re-create them. Which included the efi boot partition. However, windows 10 must have done something wrong with the efi boot partition because after that, I was not able to make a good restart of the operating system. Problem with Ubuntu I have installed next to her. However! I can make a stop and turn on just fine and the issue only happens when I try to reboot from an OS. I can reboot from the BIOS and for updates it occasionally resumes once, but consecutive reboots lands me to the ACER screen curtain. I can hear the hard drive Park and it does not load all simply the operating system or the bootstrapper.  I think I'm getting a bit lengthy, so I'll just mention that I've eliminated.

Verified and tested Ram - Ram is OK

Update Bios - Bios is fine (restarted just dandy in the process)

Faststartup disabled - not the question

Unplug all usb devices - nope

Restart in diagnostic mode - nope

    safe mode - nope

The only thing left I can think of is the only thing that I know for some changed... This efi boot partition.

Is there a way to repair this or recreate a new in the hope that it will get done right short to reinstall everything?

I know it is really old now, but I thought that I shouldn't keep starting probably new threads for the same problem.

So I went through all of this and no change. Clean the disc as instructed, I tried right linux, using the recovery disk to restore to as it was from the factory and win10 once again but no dice on this, I have created. It does not restart. But I remembered something I did at the same time I forgot because it seemed really trivial. I have problems with my wifi connection drops pretty frequently and suspect interference as well as map of the factory did not offer the 5 GHz band, I replaced it with an Intel Ultimate N card I had lying around from a previous laptop. Who would possibly spoil reboot? I don't think that would interfere with it, but it's the last thing that could have changed. However, the laptop is a model of AMD. So, hmm, I guess I can try to Exchange on the map of the factory, now.

  • Problems of Jet 7 HP recovery after installing Windows 10 TP

    Hi all

A month ago I bought the HP Jet 7. Soon after receiving it, I installed Windows 10 TP, without first create and save an Image of the system to an external drive recovery. While playing with Windows 10 TP, suddenly the touch screen doesn't work anymore, as well as WLAN. The SD card is not recognized eiter (and I can't boot from it). I now can with Windows only when you attach an external USB keyboard. I can't get into the BIOS (power-Volume-down).

I tried to go back to Windows 8.1, so far without success. I tried the regular Windows recovery mechanisms - all fail. When booting from a USB 2.0 with 8.1 32-bit of Windows Installer source attached to a USB hub powered by bus, at least, I'm able to boot, and I see that your partition 4 is a recovery partition. Yet, when you mount the partition (via DISKPART) to check for recovering images in the 'Images of Windows' folder I only get "access denied".

Does anyone have tips on how to do to get my stream of HP 7?

    Thanks for reading!

    / Maurice

    Hi all

After you remove all of the partitions and create the recommended UEFI/GPT partition , I was finally able to install Windows USB 8.1. I guess the reason for all the facilities prior to failure were remnants of W10 Technical Preview (for example, recovery or similar tools). So in short: I had to wipe the hard drive to a successful downgrade.

  • Problem reading HP DV5T Blu - Ray after upgrade windows 7

I have HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC (Vista) with the Blu - Ray player. We use to watch Blu - Ray using Quickplay movies without any problem.

  • HP pavilion dv 2700 notebook: driver coprocessor missing after clean windows 8.1 installed

Original operating system was Vista.  Then uped to 8.1, worked great, although missing some programs.  Windows 10 resulted in a very poor video playback.  Tried to goback to 8.1, did not work.  Hard disk formatted, installed then 8.1 full version.  Now missing driver coprocessor. Impossible to find. Don't have original disk with Vista.

    Hello:

When you see a coprocessor device, this means that your notebook is the processor amd and nvidia chipset.

Install the chipset nForce Vista driver and you should be ready.  You may need to install manually if auto installation does not work.

I don't see the correct chipset for any model dv2700 pilot, so use this one from a dv6700...

This package provides the driver for the NVIDIA nForce Chipset AR in the notebook models and operating systems.

    File name: sp37730.exe
