  I'm quite new to LabView and not too experienced with instrument control so I was wondering if someone could help me to solve my problem?

  Currently, I'm using LabView 2011 and I'm trying to read pressure DualGauge of Pfeiffer (TPG 262) pressure sensor and display the readings of two pressure on LabView.  However, when I run my program, the pressure readings are not displayed - what is displayed are default 0.00 if same mBar pressure reading a reading of the display of the DualGauge probe.  To connect the sensor, I use a RS232 cable and have managed to find the device on my device manager, so I don't think that the connection is the problem (I've also seen the port appears in the Device Manager, when I connected the sensor via RS232 and USB in my computer).  I also use Subvi Pfeiffer in my code, and I suspect that the problem may be in there.

  You have not tested really do anything. Devices and MAX Manager displays only the com port that you added to the computer. It does nothing to verify that an instrument is truly connected. You might have the wrong settings of com or the wrong type of cable serial (null-modem is required). I suggest that you start with program such as hyperterminal, PuTTY or MAX and try something simple. It seems that you will receive an acknowledgement returned by the instrument when a correct command is received. Make sure that this simple step that happens.

  You should still be able to read and write objects while it is configured as a T30, but you would need to write a program of IEC which reacts to changes in your variables.  I just did a project with a positioning more comms, and it was some time ago.  My HMI would send '2O 1901.1 =' to define a position and ' $2O 6103CR "to move to the position.  Note the space, and the Czech Republic is a carriage return.  Unfortunately, Parker US doesn't have much experience with the communcations for this product, and the documentation is poor.  You can call technical support of Parker in California.  Rich Rittis would be your best bet to get answers on it.

  I am trying to program a sbRIO-9606 to communicate with a LCD for matrix orbital via RS232.  I have NI-VISA 5.4.1 with NI-VISA 5.4.1 on the sbRIO server software.  But I see no COM port to use to connect.  Is there other software that I need?  Or is there a resource where I can find some instructions about it?

  Hello, I need to communicate with an external device with serial port. I have to write a command to my device string, and then it should play with 64 bytes of data. I built a function of READING-WRITING and I use it in a loop (I have to read a lot of 64-byte block)

  Sometimes, I have the following problem:

  (1) I have send the command string, I wait with "Bytes to the serial port" whereas I have more then 60 bytes, then I read.

  (2) sometimes happen that the read function cannot read all 64 bytes, so the net for cycle, I have in the receiver buffer mor than 64 and the program to stop working. (does not work well)

  I need to be sure that after writing the command I have 64 bytes, so I red all the 64 bytes so the next loop for, I have the buffer of the empty receiver.

  In no place in your program see the VISA configure the Serial Port. It's always a good idea to include this that even if you use the default settings. I suspect this is one of the default settings which is wrong with you. By default, playback is set to end when a character is considered. This means that if you have a 10 hex (ASCII LF) in your stream, playback stops until the specified number of bytes is read. Put in a VISA set up the Serial Port and connect a constant False to the stop character allow entry.

  I'm trying to connect an old Spex 1702 spectrometer to our computer via RS232. I have a few vi downloaded from the HORIBA website that are supposed to work with this series. When I run the 'Start-up.vi' which is supposed to make the connection between the spec and the computer, all I get is the red error light. I am fairly new with Labview and know virtually nothing about RS232, help or suggestions on how to get this connection would be appreciated! Thank you

  Former pilots used outdated serial drivers that won't work with the newer versions of LV

  There might be newer versions of the drivers are circulating, but I ended up making my own versions of VISA rather than wait for the manufacturer.  Please note that this was a nightmare to migrate...

• Reconfigure the channel RS232 VISA

  If I need to reconfigure a VISA (RS232) channel (flow rate in baud, timeout, stop bit, etc) I do first had to close the channel and reopen/configure it?

  I'm currently in the way of the already existing VISA reference in configure it VI and defining a new rate in baud rate and timeout.  Currently, it seems to work very well, but I wanted to make sure that I'm not setting myself to hard to track bugs later.  If anyone has experience with the reconfiguration of this way and ran into problems or knows that it is a free way of reconfiguring a channel RS232 VISA problem I'd appreciate the feedback.

  EDIT: Please install the update of first Pro CC 2015 (9.0.1). It fixes problems playing more covered in this thread.

  If the update does not resolve the problem of reading you have on a current project, try a new project and see if playback resumes to normal. For any other problem with the update, please create a new position or open a folder with our support on the "video" queue agents: Contact customer service

  • Is this a project 2014 CC that you updated to 2015 of CC, and you have no problem with the same images in a new project of CC 2015?

  I use dasylab to a small control. I would like to controll 3 adjustable transformers. The pc with the NI USB-6210 is near the transformer. Via RS232 I want to controll the processors of the control room. I have connected the two stand-alone (one near the processor) and the other in the control room with a cable RS232. Is it possible to use input RS232 dasylab for this effect? I'm just at the beginning of this project, and I appreciate all the information and advice you can give.

  For the RS232 string... we expect that the string must be delimited - for example, it ends with a. When you use the notation

  $1

  DASYLab will begin at the current location and put all the characters in the global chain number 1 (${STR_1} in other modules) until the \r (thecharacter). It does not put the delimited in the global chain.

  CVI programmer for several years, but it has been awhile. Trying to read in a text file that displays fine in say Notepad. The first line of text in the file is:

  cdum [1] is 65 (which is the ASCII character 'A')

  The rest of the cdum is all zeros.

  In a hex editor in decimal display grouped by bytes, the line is:

  ybA.l.l.. t.e.m.p.e.r.a.t.u.r.e.s.. i.n.. °. F....

  So I get the scan function is to see the start character, then by pulling the 65 and placing in the location cdum [1], then strikes the character 0 and leaves the function of scan as she found an end of line. Trying to read in the entire line and the subsequent data float line, but is not serious, I can understand that our after I get over the initial problem above.

  Can someone help me with this? I have no problem reading in ordinary text files, but this one is as it is grouped in words rather than in bytes. Have you tried a bunch of different Scan function modifiers source and target [xt0, w #, etc.], but nothing seems to work.

  I downloaded your file, it is opened in Excel because of its extension and the settings on my computer. I then wanted to save it as a text file normal to see in Notepad and read with a simple C program. In doing so, Excel told me: some features in your workbook may be lost if you save it in Unicode text.

  This is consistent with your observation of 16-bit data.

  LabWindows/CVI, unfortunately, does not support the Unicode character set and functions of the library operated at only 8-bit characters.

  So I would say to convert your file to 8-bit characters; You can also support the pursuit of the Unicode support in CVI here

  I have a few problems reading a sheet DLL created in LabVIEW. The DLL is written in C++.

  I'll dexcribe what do the VI in the screenshots:

  For DLL_INIT = the first false steps the VI (LabVIEW) values and exports in a DLL initialization.
  DLL takes these values and not some und calculation, then wrote the measured values and the new calculated values in a csv file called 'filtered_values' and a file 'filtered_values_complete '.
  so, I have two files like this after initialization:

  So now on DLL_INIT = true.
  For the calculation, the next step i read the "filtered_values" - file (LabVIEW), calculate the new values and write in filtered_values (DLL)
  And in the "filtered_values_complete" - file I will allways read the DLL entry first, so that I can check later, if the DLL has obtained the values to the right of the front step and then add the calculated values.

  For i > 0 initialization has been made:
  -the VI bed sheet "filtered_values" calculation and rotted the table 1 d in its unique values
  -The last seven values in the worksheet have been exported in the dll as well as five new measured values.
  -This DLL is still a few calculation
  - then it replaces the "filtered_values" - file and adds a new line to the 'filtered_values_complete '.

  This migth be a bit of confusion, so a small example, afer five steps it loooks like this:

  So it's good enough that the VI and it works fine until some point when the just VI reads more calculation and x = sheet! There? becomes true.

  Most of the time it happens when the csv file is about 1200 lines

  I'm using MacOSX 10.6 and Labview 9.0f2. I installed the lates VISA (5.0.0) drivers, as they are the only support OSX 10.6.

  Now, I try to run the "basic series write and read" example and get the following error:

  Error 1073807343 has occurred to the property node (arg 1) visa set up a Serial Port (Instr) .vi-> basic series writing and Read.vi

  Possible reasons: VISA: information about insufficient localization (Hex 0xBFFF0011) or the device or resource is not present in the system.

  As I am a newbie to Labview, I'd appreciate any help on this...
