Problem to stay connected to the internet through the wireless router.

I'm having a strange problem.  My computer will stay connected wireless for anywhere between 2-30 minutes before losing connectivity.  However, it works when I plug it into the router, which is what I'm doing now.  I have tried everything I can think of to eliminate the problem, but it has not changed.  Usually, once it shuts down it will stay off until I have change the frequency of router or something.  Reset the router works every time some time, but nothing is definitely the problem.

I disabled ipv6, reset the router, update windows, restarted several times that I have unplugged router and modem, reconfigured frequency channel of the router, among other things.

It must be a problem with my computer because my roommate both have computers that are working properly.  In addition, it is a relatively new problem.  I've had my computer for a few months now and it has worked well up until that 2 days ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello

I would try the underside and then if no joy try a system restore to before this happened - don't worry
the system restore without the bottom as the issue will probably come back. And if you always do
a system restore and then repeat the underside when even because all will be back to old drivers and settings.

How to make a Vista system restore
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please do this 1 and repeat if you need to do a system restore:

Actually try updating your driver and disabling the network logon.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version. (The
manufacturer of system become your backup policies).

Repeat for network (NIC) card and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as Vista like
updated drivers.

I would also turn off auto update for the drivers. If the updates Windows suggests a just HIDE as they
are almost always old, and you can search drivers manually as needed.

------------------------------------------------------

Make sure you know the details of connection to your wireless router - SSID and password.

You lose connection when you do and have to redo your logon.

Control Panel - Network & Sharing Center - right, click Customize - page set of network locations.
lower left click on merge or delete network locations - REMOVE all instances of your network (and the
others you don't use anymore) - REBOOT. Start - Connect To log on to the network.

    Hi Virginia,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

After the description of the problem, I understand that you can not connect to a wireless network on windows vista computer.

I appreciate your efforts on this issue, however no need for you to worry we are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

Help me with the information below.

-Don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to disable temporarily security software and then check if you are able to connect.

    Method 1

You can also temporarily disable the security software and check if it works.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

If disabling the security software solves the problem, then contact the manufacturer of the specific security software to fix the problem.

Important: These steps may increase your security risk. These steps may also make the computer or the network more vulnerable to attack from malicious users or malicious software such as viruses. We recommend the process that this article describes to enable programs to operate as they are designed for, or to implement specific program features. Before you make these changes, we recommend that you evaluate the risks that are associated with implementing this process in your particular environment. If you decide to implement this process, take additional measures to protect the system. We recommend that you use this process only if you really need this process.

    Method 2

Reset the router and see if that helps.

Note: to help you reset the router, you can consult the manual that came with the router or the router contact manufacturer.

You can see this help article.

  • Connectivity of the wireless router problem

I have a Cisco's Linksys WRT160N wireless router.  After it is up and running, all my wireless devices work fine.  My sons Wii for my laptop, my wifes iPod Touch. But the strangest thing is happening.  I have problems connecting to the internet with my desktop computer that is hard wired to the linksys router.

Often I can connect any... other times it's quite slow compared to when I plug my office directly to a cable modem.  Finally, sometimes certain aspects of the Web page will appear while others won't.

Question: Is damaged?  Or is there something that I am missing.  You would think it would be right forweard enough... OH, I have also replaced the cables from the desktop to the router and have already done all the reboot that I care to do as well as redo the ip address in the part of the repair of my control panel.

    Any ideas?

Access the Page of configuration of your router and lower the MTU size of the router to Auto/1500 to 1400.

  • Can connect to the wireless router, but not to the Internet

Because I could not find this post, I published in my problem to

Windows 7, connecting Local only, no Internet

I think I described the problem a bit better here.

I had a Gateway DX4300-17 with Windows 7 Home Premium for about six weeks. I connect to the Internet via a Netgear wireless router. My Internet connection dropped often, but I've always been able to reconnect to the Saturday. Since the start-up my computer Sunday, when I try to connect to the Internet, the system tells me that I am connected to the router, but there is no connection between the router and the Internet. I did a system restore to Friday, but it did not help. I searched the Knowledge Base and tried several things I found there. Running "sfc/scannow" indicates that all is well. I disabled the '6' Protocol (I don't remember the letters that were with this, but you probably know what I mean). This made no difference either. I thought I would ask for help here in the hopes of not having to restart the computer to the "hospital". That's a very different problem here barely a week. I need help, please.

    Hello Bill6009,

Have you tried to boot your computer in SafeMode w/network to see if the problem persists?

If so, try to perform a clean boot to see if you encounter the same problem.

Please post back your results if we can help get your problem solved J

When it works, take it back to the final spot. If it stops then working, then you have a problem of distance.

HI - hoping someone can provide some answers to my problem. This happens a lot.

For some reason, the awakening of my PC it does not connect to internet or router (192.168.0.1). Restart the PC makes no difference. I have an iPhone that connects very well during all this time (via wifi, with cellular networking turned off).

    This is what happens:

I go to network and sharing Center to connect:

    [img src = "http://i39.tinypic.com/e031x5.jpg"]

The sky connection is to me, with an intense sound signal:

He then quickly says "successfully connected to sky", although the network & sharing poster always the router as "id" and without internet access:

After a wait of 1-2 minutes, he moved to 'unidentified network' and without internet access:

What I can do is to reset the router by unplugging the power for a few seconds, allowing a restart. After that, the PC connects fine and I can access the main router page:

I don't want to have to reset the router whenever it goes well! Any help on why this is happening and what's wrong with my settings would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

    Hello

Follow the steps mentioned below and check to see if they help.

    Step 1:

Card drivers update of your network.

    Step 2:

In addition, you can uninstall and reinstall the Device Manager wireless network card to be a safer side.

To uninstall the wireless device manager,

    a. Click Start, type device manager in the search box of start and press ENTER.

    b. Locate the network adapters and expand the same.

    c. Select the wireless connection, right click and choose uninstall.

    d. restart the computer, if prompted.

Pilots should settle automatically after the computer restarts.

Now you can install the latest wireless drivers and check if this solves the problem.

  • Connection to the wireless router

I currently have intermittent connection problems with my router with my wireless Vista adapter.

Sometimes, either after booting, or the disconnection of a single account and connection on Vista another account; I can not connect. Generally, the error is expressed as security key is incorrect. However, I know that the phrase/key is correct.

Sometimes, the adapter is disconnected and then re - set it solves the problem, while other times I had to delete and re-create the profile Wireless under the wireless network connection control panel. However most of the time I have to use to turn off the router and turned on again. It almost always does, the connection works again.

Also, whenever a while the internet connection stops, usually when I just clicked on a web link.

Do you know what could be the problem?

Some journal entries you posted State "unknown user name or bad password".  This is the type of connection 2 which are attempts to connect to your PC locally (i.e. just started).  You also said earlier that when you are prompted for a security key to connect to your router, it sometimes rejects because the passkey is incorrect.  One thing that comes to mind is that you have a key that is stick on your keyboard, which is originally evil type your logon password and security key.

Open Notepad on your computer and simply type anything.  Type your passwords and the security key passes a number of times and see if any characters repeat or not be typed at all.  If this is a Wireless keyboard, try replacing the batteries, otherwise a can of compressed air which will usually clear upward.

If you constantly have to power cycle your router or disconnect your Wireless adapter to get a connection, then you have a hardware problem.  One of the errors you listed was "service temporarily stopped publishing because of a power event".  What happened when the error has been written?  Check with the manufacturer of these devices to see if they work properly.

Are you able to connect to the router with an ethernet cable access to the internet without problem?

  • Why can't I access the modem 192.168.1.1 when connected to the wireless router?

I'm unable to access my DSL Modem 6100 Westell using 192.168.1.1 when connected to the Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router. I can access it, however, when I connect directly to the ethernet port on the computer without going through the router. I've set up according to the instructions. Is it possible to correct the problem?

This isn't a problem.  This is the standard behavior.  You are connected to the side LAN of the router that is isolated from the side WAN (uplink).  This is the mode of operation of routers.

  • PSC C4780 - connects to the wireless router, then disconnects, repeat...

So I have a C4780 who knows a problem similar to what other people know about with different models.

It seems that the printer cannot be connected to the router for more than 30 seconds.  I look at the screen of the printer and the intensity of the signal will be full one minute and gone the next minute.  Although full shell, I am able to connect to the Web site of the printer from my computer and print from my computer.  Whenever the signal goes, is my ability to communicate with him.  I use a Linksys WRK54G wireless router.   Also connected to it are my HP Pavilion dv7-1132nr laptop and my laptop Dell Inspiron 1545.  None of them lose connectivity to the router or the internet during this time.

When I installed the printer, he gave me three errors.  He told me to unblock the following ports from my PC to my printer:

    UDP 427 @ 192.168.1.102

    TCP 9220 @ 169.254.21.72

    UDP 161 @ 169.254.21.72

I tried in my firewall opening completely disabling the firewall.  No approach has worked.  I do believe however, that the problem is between my PC and the printer, but rather the router and the printer.  The printer doesn't keep in touch with the router or the router is not that the printer is connected to it.

It's late and I have worked on throughout the day, including an hour and forty minutes on the phone with technical support.  If anyone can think of any I've left out (I know there are a lot), I will be happy to provide it.

    Thank you

    Kevin

I've seen similar problems.  I have not found this problem completely, yet do not give you the "shotgun" perscription, but it is better than losing the use of the printer.

The 169.254.x.y address is problematic for the driver software.  The following three things helped a lot other people.

    (1) give the printer a address static IP - one that sits on the right subnet (192.168.1.x)

    * You must enter your router AND the printer's IP address, if the router gives to someone else, and so the printer knows what it is.

    * I do not have the printer in front of me, model if you cannot figure it out, let me know and I'll find the instructions.  If you can not understand how to configure your router, I'll try to find a reference in the manual.

    (2) make sure that your computers have only a connection to your router.  If you're wired AND wireless to your router, it can be confusing network of driver code.

    3) go to your firewall and unlock things like Setup has loaded, but replace all references 169.254.x.y 192.168.1.102 (assuming that you give the printer the number 102 to step #1 above)

That said, you may be right in your assertion that the problem is between the printer and the router.  Your description of the signal strength indicator is strange.  To what extent is your printer from the router?  How is that distance compares to other devices on your network?  There the walls or shelves between the router and the printer?
