Problem upgrading to a6120n PCI-e video card

I have a HP Pavilion a6120n desktop with Vista 32 bit fully implemented to date.  I bought a Diamond Radeon HD5450 graphics card.  Based on the advice of their manufacturer, I replaced the power supply original 250w with a Rhino Panther 450w power supply.  System works very well with the VGA display, attached to the integrated graphics card.  According to the instructions with the card, I disable the onboard in Device Manager.  I have install the Board in slot PCI-e x 16 one.  I turn on and monitor is black when it is connected to the VGA card port.  Just to check, return the monitor to the integrated VGA connector and the monitor is black. After removing the new graphics card, onboard VGA works fine. I have installed/uninstalled several times making sure card is sitting, the cable is secure, etc..  The card provider said to go into the BIOS and set the main video card in the PCI-e.  I can't do because PCI - e is not one of the options.  HP site does not display updates to the original BIOS which is version 5.18 08/05/2007.  I don't have another computer equipped with PCI-e slot to test the card.  Card was in the sealed box is probably functional.  Card gets power because the heat sink heats up a little after a few minutes. This card has no fan or separate power connector.  HP product specifications say that this model can support a PCI-e graphics card.  I am stuck and frustrated.

Why the menu in the BIOS Setup does not show a PCI-e option when the Council supports that?

.. Paul...

Hi Paul,.

Try clear the CMOS.  When you boot, the bios should automatically switch on the PCI-E x 16 for video slot where the card is recognized.

The 450w PSU Rhino Panther has 20 amps on the bus + 12 volts.  A Corsair CX430 has 28 amps on the bus + 12 volts. but then it costs more.  The HD 5450 is a fairly low power Board so the power supply should be OK.  You can compare the amperage of your old power supply v + 12 with the new PSU.

I've seen some posts here where video RADEON 5xxx cards were not recognized in the old HP PC.  Essentially a problem of compatibility.  The video card may be bad, or you have one of the old HP PC that does not like video cards Radeon 5xxx.

NVIDIA cards seem to have better compatibility will be former HP PC.  This NVIDIA GT 520 is probably comparable to the Radeon 5450.

    Hello!

When I turn on my X 200 I hear 3 long beeps and there is no video at all (black screen). After searching the Internet I found it would more likely be a video card failure. In fact all the GeForce 8600 M with G82 and G84, treatment units suffer blow because of the heat and the bad quality of its material.

Well, I found some identical video cards of mine on eBay. But if I buy a new card like this, it will be a matter of time for the same problem again. So, I decided to upgrade the video card. But I really Don t know if a GeForce video card or MMX II nVidia video card 1 GB will be entirely compatible with my laptop.

Could someone help me on this? Everything will be fine after the upgrade? No problem with the BIOS?

  • Firefox crashes when it starts. I tried to reset it; I uninstalled and reinstalled no question. The problems started after I changed my video card

    Crash ID: bp-1c18c383-28e4-426c-96a7-ff97e2130906
    OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
I had to change my video card, immediately after this FF started crashing at the beginning.
The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 210.
    I tried to:
    -Reset FF;
    -uninstall, delete the registry, reinstall it;
    -Windows Update;
    -Update (311.06) video card drivers
    but no way.
I can start FF mode without failure.
Any help will be really appreciated.

I solved it by disabling hardware acceleration in the FF options.
There seems to be a conflict between FF and some drivers from Nvidia.

  • How to upgrade Windows XP to the video card of 2010

I am told that I need the latest version of the drivers for video card 2010 game Gamehouse. How can I do this

First you must determine which video card you have.

If you have a computer 'brand', especially a laptop, it is best to get the drivers from the web site of the manufacturer of the computer.  Depending on the brand, you may need to enter a 'serial number (Dell) or type/model designation (Lenovo) and you should be able to get the video driver for your specific computer.

If not, start the Device Manager (start > run > devmgmt.msc > OK) and click on the + sign to the left "display cards.  That should tell you the make and model of your video card.  You can then go to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card and download the current driver.  DO NOT select "Update driver" in Device Manager.  This will cause usually your download one driver Windows Update, which generally is NOT the current driver.

There should be guidance on any web site, you get the driver from on how to install it.

  • PCI express video card for Lr3?

    Greetings,

I can recall that read "some type" video card will help speed up the performance of the Lr3...

If so - what type I'm looking for, and of course - which is a matter of good money?

    Thank you!

I think you're Recalling by mistake. LR works very well with any video card supporting the native resolution of your screen. It only uses the map to be displayed, and not to proceed to any serious treatment.

  • The upgrade of power and a video card

    I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 410 t

I am a dealer of stock and want to run 3 monitors with a diamond 6670.

The card is 7 in long and a double wide, although it seems that the fan is taking extra space

I need the power upgrade.  I see recommended Corsair, but I found a post that said HP was the only son of a 24 connector pins that would fail to supply 3rd party.

Will be the privateer and the card to adapt?

    Thank you.

I've not used one, but he claims he mirror, extend or rotate. I'll take 'mirror' to signify to display the same image on another monitor. I take "extend" meaning display a new picture above, below, left or right of an existing image.

I am upgrading to a former m8000. Hp already put a new 750 watt PSU in it Corsair and it does not always recognize any of 3 pci-e video cards I've tried. I already went into the bios and changed the video settings to pci-e and still nothing. Is there only certain video cards compatible with this thing or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

This is because the latest gen video card is compatible with UEFI BIOS, not the legacy BIOS that has your PC.

The BIOS legacy do not see it as a gift.

You will need a video card that only inherited BIOS compatibility or that has a switch that allows you to group compatibility legacy BIOS and UEFI BIOS.   Sapphiretech of the 200 series r7 r9-300 series video cards meet the criterion.

  • HP Pavilion p6505f video card upgrade

I couldn't find another post for this model, so I create a new one to ask for help.

My mom has a HP Pavilion p6505f I want to upgrade for it, specifically the video card. She recently bought. It seems that the power supply is only 250watts, so I guess that will have to be upgraded. I need the machine to be able to play WoW at a decent rate. I am interested if anyone has recommendations on a good video card for the power of this system and recommendations (will fit a generic, or what I should order from HP? and what power range should I aim for, 500 +?). The computer came with a lot of RAM (4 GB) and a lot of space (1 to).

    Thanks for any help!

A standard ATX power supply should work.

You need to open your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your diet.  Here is a list of the things to consider:

    1. Specifications
    2. Total power - important
    3. amperage 12 + v - important
    4. Modular - is not required, but I like the flexibility
    5. Warranty
    6. I7 and SLI ready
    7. Efficiency rating
    8. Cost
    9. The physical size - standard ATX PSU is 5.5 "by 5.9" by 3.4 "give or take a few tenths

www.Newegg.com has many choices of power supplies.  Corsair, OCZ, Rosewill, Thermaltake...

Of Corsair HX Series is a good choice.  I prefer NVIDIA 4xx because the card is only 8.25 inches long.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

How to replace a power supply.

How to replace a video card.

I bought the Corsair HX 650 and installed will detect a problem.  I am also using the NVIDIA GTX 460 w/256 bit memory interface.

  • Upgrading power but still uncertain on video card

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 480 t series with i7-930 quad-core [2.8 GHz], 8 GB SDRAM DDR3 at 1 066 MHz and a 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 5450 [DVI, HDMI, VGA adapter].  The video card is very driven and I would like to upgrade.  Most of the video cards I looked to recommend a diet of at least 500w, mine has currently 460w.  I recently ordered a Corsair CX600w and hope, that I have no problem with the installation in the box HP Pavilion Elite.  What is the best video card that you recommend, under $ 200, which can fit in the box HP Pavilion Elite HPE - 480 t?

  • HP Slimline problem with video card?

    Hello

I got a Slimline s3020n for a few years and have never had a problem with it. A few days ago when I turned it on there is no picture on the monitor except the box that is displayed when you turn it on and it says: "no signal". I plugged into another computer to the screen to see if the monitor was the problem and it worked fine. I swapped the hard drive thinking that might work, but still had the same problem. All lights turn on and it seems that everything works (hard drive, fans) which leads me to think, maybe it's a problem with the video card. My question is if you have advice on what could be the problem and I think that the video card is integrated into the motherboard, so I have to replace the whole motherboard to fix this. Thank you.

    -Chris

    Chris,

Your PC has built-in video on the motherboard.  If it is simply a matter of graphic, a low profile card could be added to the system.   However, you can view the following link - depending on when you purchased your product - you may qualify for an extended warranty - the problem, he describes sounds similar to what you mentioned.  I found this on the page of the product of the s3020n, btw.

  • Tried to replace the video card integrated with card pci-e x 16 and lost audio - help please

Is this normal - when you replace your car video with a pci-e video card you would lose your sound.  The system I have is a Pavilion a1450n and has 3 pci slots and 1 pci-e.  I changed the pci-e video in the bios and everything is fine, but no sound at all.  When I took out the card then I would sound.

    Please help.

The former system of video seems to give me a little trouble.  He keeps hide and freeze from time to time.  Don't know when that will happen.  But when this happens, a blue screen it freezes or just blanks out and comes back.  It will happen nobody knows.  Everything else works fine.  Hate to give up this old gem - for a lot of software installed to lose.

Thank you all very much for help.

    William

    Hi, William.

Yes, when you have an old PC where the BIOS does not have HDMI.

Your PC thinks that you have installed a sound card and a video card because of the HD audio chip on the video card.

Thus, he disabled the integrated audio system.

    The fix should be easy...

Go into the BIOS of your PC, look at the options menu and find the onboard audio setting.

It will be set to auto or off.

Change the setting to "Enabled". Save the configuration it and yet when you go out (save the settings and exit).

When you restart, you should have the back of Board.
