Problem WinXP SP1a installation via internet

This is similar to post Russ Maxon

"When installing Win XP SP1a via internet, the microsoft web server isn't reachable. Instructions error msg telling me to go to the website of MS XP Service Pack and click on "Problems downloading the Service Pack" for a version of the SP1 update that does not require any interaction with the web server. "I can't find this place to get these instructions, so I can complete my reinstall the upgrade of Windows XP.

I use a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop with a whole new hardisk Samsung160Gb and running Windows XP.

I do a full reinstall as previous hard drive was no longer functional.

I installed the XP Home and Office XP Professional operating system from the original disks.

I have a wireless internet connection via VirginMedia using IE7.

Automatic updates says it won't work because the system is not up-to-date - not very useful.

I try to make updates in the order and have read various bits of advice on the Microsoft Web site on the upgrade: for example all upgrades are cumulative, this SP2 requires no SP1; but SP3 requires first of SP1a or SP2. That's why I tried to use SP1a Express download, after which I got the above error message.

In your response to Russ Maxon, it has been suggested that he go directly to SP2, but it doesn't seem to be an independent download for SP2 for home use, only for network deployment.

Thus, the crucial questions are, exactly where full versions of SP1a and SP2 are drawn.

Hello MalTom,

Visit this link on my site: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_can_i_download_a_full_copy_o.htm

The information on this link to download the Service Pack 2 on the download site. Yes it say the deployment of the network, but ignore that, simply download the full service pack and install it.

This forum post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or the opinion of Microsoft, its employees or other MVPS.

  • My sata cd rom a problem after re-installation of WinXP Pro by this cd rom; error code 041; How do I solve this problem

My sata cd rom a problem after re-installation of WinXP Pro by this cd rom; error code 041; How do I solve this problem

It's almost certainly a driver problem.

Please tell the service pack on your Windows® XP Pro level forum and the manufacturer and model of your system, if it is conditioned, or the make and model of your motherboard if it is not.  In addition, please tell us the manufacturer and model of the optical drive.

First of all, if there is a system, go to the support Web site of the manufacturer for your system model.  If this is not a system, go to the support Web site of the manufacturer of the motherboard for your model of motherboard.  In the first case, you should find the drivers, chipset in particular drivers, updates and software for your system. Install all the that apply.  In the second case, you will find the drivers of integrated devices, chipset, updates and software for your motherboard drivers. Yet once, install all the that apply.  As we know nothing on the optical drive other it is attached via SATA, I can't talk about what to do there except that you should go to the manufacturer's support Web site and search for drivers and updated firmware for your model.

It would have been helpful if you had provided more complete information on the installation of Windows, your system hardware and the optical drive.  The most complete information; more answers you will get.  Please, read:KB555375 - how to ask a question.

  • Can connect with desktop remotely all directions except via internet Windows XP to Windows 7

I have a new computer with Windows 7 Pro to work I need with desktop remote access so that I can work from home and be with the family.  For years I used remote desktop connection from home using Win XP SP3 to my Win XP Pro SP3 computer at work.  I am able to connect my old WinXP computer work on my new Win 7 computer (locally).  I can connect from home computer Win XP Win XP computer via internet (DSL) to work.  I can connect from Windows 7 computer to work at Windows XP home computer over the internet (DSL).

So, I have Setup port forwarding or modems DSL correctly, the IP addresses are correct, consistent remote desktop clients. Firewall exceptions are configured correctly.

What is different.  The new computer with Windows 7 Pro has McAfee Internet Security all others running EAST of Kaspersky.  Win 7 computer is new.  Since I am on various possibilities of connections, changed listening port of 3389 on some computers, including the new Win7 computer (this should not be a problem that I'm able to connect locally).

Disable the firewall (software Anti-anti-virus/IS) on both computers does not help. In any case, I can go to WinXP Pro to work on Win 7 computer to work locally.

My thought is that there may some security policies, or maybe a protocol problem which is different with the new Windows 7 computer that does not have a connection outside the local network (via a public network).

I also tried to set up a VPN connection integrated Microsoft: forwarded port 1723, the GRE protocol allowed to the DSL modem.  Tried all different scenarios between Win XP Home and Win 7 computer at work and cannot configure the VPN connection. I get error 678: the remote computer did not respond.

I spent hundreds of discussions help/knowledge base and discussion review.  I have seen or followed all the instructions on the various sites of tech Web to configure VPN connections and Remote Desktop connections.

Does anyone have an idea as to what could be the solution here?

but where can I found it?

I have not the driver or the ultilities... because his second hand trade...
    can anyone giv help me?

    Thank you...

OK, first, all drivers and utilities you need can be found here: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com (Support & downloads). Choose your laptop computer and operating system.

Windows tells you, it does not find your HARD drive because of the lack of SATA drivers. They are in the Matrix Storage Manager intel, which can be downloaded on the link above.

How to use this forum just use search function driver, but you have two options. Put them on floppy or integrate them into your installation via the tool called nlite disc.

  • Recently, I built a new computer and used my old hard drive. Now, I can't activate Windows XP via internet or telephone?

    Hello

I recently built a new computer with a new motherboard, processor and RAM.  The computer works well, but I can't go through the activation of Windows XP.  I tried connecting via internet, and he said that I didn't have a connection, which I know that I do because I can connect to the internet on my motherboard cloud browser.  I tried to call the number that was given, but the computer says that it is not a valid product.  I know that my copy of Windows XP is valid - in my old system, it worked fine.

Please help me to activate my version of Windows XP.

If the old version of Windows XP is installed on the computer when you bought it, you invalidated the license by moving the hard drive to a new system.  This license lives and dies on the parent computer/card origin.  If it was a copy of the (bought in a store) retail of Windows, I'd recommend replace because move one disk hard from one computer to the other, sometimes translated as difficult solve incompatibilities due to driver problems.

  • Problem with the installation of add-on to animate CC

    Hello

I am trying to install the add-on from the host Snap.svg from page Adobe modules:

    https://creative.Adobe.com/addons/patches/26811

The first time I "bought" the add-on (it's a free add-on) I got a message telling me to get the creative cloud desktop application.

    I already installed (latest 3.8.0.310).

After a while in the activity stream, this error message appears: "Installation failed, could not validate license online".

I tried to remove the add-on from the 'My Add-ons' page and reinstall it again, but it does not work and it does even not now produce a new entry in the activity stream.

I also tried connection then on Creative Cloud Desktop App and restart Windows.

I have a valid license of creative cloud, this shouldn't be a problem.

I am behind a proxy, but for the installation of applications (Photoshop, Animate, Illustrator etc) creative Cloud that was no problem since I could determine my proxy authentication information.

By clicking on the error message in the stream of activity redirects me to a troubleshooting page in the extensions Manager, where my particular error refers only to this forum.

So I hope that there is someone out there who can help me with this.

As an additional info: I also tried two other add-ons free with the same result. One was to animate the CC and the other for Photoshop.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks kglad.

I downloaded the file zxp from github:

    https://github.com/cjgammon/SnapSVG-animator

Then I followed the instructions on this page:

Installation of extensions in ZXP using the utility to manage Extensions. Animate Adobe blog

Before, I had tried to install the file zxp using the CC of the extensions Manager, but it did not work. It is even said on the Adobe page with CC2015, you should no longer use the extensions Manager.

But the utility to manage Extension works for me.

Still don't understand why automatic installation via the website and through the application of CC desktop does not work well.

But I'll use this workaround for now, so there's a zxp file available for direct download.

  • Have a problem with the installation of CF9

    Hello

I try to install CF9 on my computer, but I have a problem, once the installation is complete and he gets to the part administrator and Migration (the part where it opens a browser). I enter the admin password, and then click ok, then he's going to the page that says that the server is configured. There is a note that says that it can take a few minutes, but after a wait of 10-15, I get a time-out error that says that demand is greater than the permitted time limit. I don't know what to do at this point. I tried reinstalling and changing installation options, but nothing works.

On a note separated, once the installation is complete, I get a Jrun4 process in Windows Task Manager and it completely my computers memory hogs. After a few minutes, it will use about 500 MB of memory and the computer is unusable because of how long it takes to respond to each click.

    Help, please!

Here are the stats from my computer:

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

    AMD Athlon (TM) 64 X 2 Dual - Core TK-57 1.9 GHz processor

    959 MB OF RAM

My computer is a HP Compaq Presario F700 laptop and its about 2 years while working well, maybe it's just not up to running CF9?

    Thanks for any help,

    Alex

I've never used this cfstart.bat file to start CF.  The process to install a Windows Service must have been created: use it.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but through a shell you do in CF cfstart.bat may not be a perfect way of doing things.

The CF error you get just means that CF is pulling the plug on your request because it takes so long.  I think that, by default, there is a 60 sec timeout.  I've never seen CFAdmin take 60-sec to boot.  This setting is usually configured via CFAdmin and not sure where to turn off if this same setting prevents a bet in CFAdmin.  I'll have a look later... time for me to jump on a bandwagon.

Maybe put your Xmx set back up to at least 256 MB.  To save a little bit more RAM, you could probably reduce your - XX: MaxPermSize to the low a little too (maybe up to 64 MB?  Not sure about that).

Your PC seems to be quite tight on resources, if you need to do this kind of thing, btw.  I note that you use only 1 GB of RAM on a Vista machine.  EEEK.  I wouldn't anything less than 2 GB (and would prefer 4 GB while she performance).  Your question may that Windows is having to share a RAM disk too, which will slow down everything until analysis.  Which seems to be what you feel.  Windows itself needs... what... about 400 MB to run these days, before you start trying to assign any what RAM in other applications.  1 GB is not enough.
