Problem with MSINFO32. EXE and Total/available vs Page file space virtual memory reported

I am running Windows XP Professional SP3 with all installed updates, latest hardware drivers, etc.. It is a CLEAN installation on a material brand new, completed a week ago.
The "/ PAE" switch is enabled in the boot.ini file.

When I run MSINFO32. EXE, the summary of the system is the following:
System model: System product name
System type: X 86-based PC
Processor: x 86 family 16 model 4 Stepping 3 Mhz-AuthenticAMD ~ 3515
The version of the BIOS/Date: American Megatrends Inc. 1702, 22/12/2010
SMBIOS Version: 2.5
Windows directory: C:\WINDOWS
System directory: C:\WINDOWS\system32
Starting device: \Device\HarddiskVolume2
Locale: United States
Layer of HAL: Version = "5.1.2600.5512 (xpsp.080413 - 2111).
Username: username MYUSERNAME01\My (redacted for privacy)
Time zone: Pacific Daylight Time
Total physical memory: 8 MB 192,00
Available physical memory: 2.60 GB
Total virtual memory: 2.00 GB
Available virtual memory: 1.96 GB
Page file space: 7.07 GB
File: E:\pagefile.sys

Right click on 'my computer' and selecting 'Properties' shows exact needs to be visible to a 32 bit OS... 3.24 GB of RAM. So, how MSINFO32. EXE is able to detect all of 8 GB is totally beyond me. But this isn't my problem.

My BIG PROBLEM is the virtual memory. If I open the root of my drive E:\, it shows the swap file to size: 4 096 MB. And that's how it is in 'my computer' > 'Advanced' > 'Performance' > 'Advanced' > 'virtual memory' > 'change'.
Custom size:
-Initial size (MB): 4096
-Maximum size (MB): 4096
Total size of file for all readers:
-Minimum authorized: 2 MB
-Recommended: 4978 MB
-Currently allocated: 4080 MB

Why is-MSINFO32. EXE, statement my total virtual memory 2 GB and the size of pagefile 7.07 GB? Neither is correct! Can someone explain just what the heck happens here? My research on Google, many other people report the same total/available virtual memory amounts, with wildly different hardware configurations. I changed the size manually and rebooted several times, without result. I had the pagefile, sitting in a 5 GB partition, and then he moved on to another drive with plenty of space and assign "System managed". Divergence still existed.

The material is as follows:
[|] ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 BIOS v1702 [|] AMD PhenomII x 4 (970 Black Edition) [|] Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8 (x 2) mode modules together ~ 800 Mhz & calendar 8-8-8-24 [|] Integrated graphics card Radeon HD 4250 with 128 MB + 512 MB memory [|] ASUS VE248H 24 "1080 p HD LED monitor [|] Drives from Maxtor 6V250F0 (x 4) 250 GB SATAII 1.5 Gbps [|] LG BD - DL Optical Drive WH10LS30 [|] Creative Labs X - Fi Platinum Sound Card [|] Logitech LX 700 keyboard/mouse wireless [|]

I changed the speed / "timing" on the RAM to run ~ 666 Mhz @ 9-9-9-24, and the problem persists. As far as I know, he is not actually detrimental to the system; that is, it does not regularly, crash or anything. But the fact that MSINFO32. EXE cannot obtain such a right basis is VERY disturbing for me. There is no state what operating system says it is, then what fundamental problem may arise at some point in the future? Or is already there, hidden and wait a moment when the system load is high until it rears its ugly head and denounces all?
I wonder if I should completely eliminate virtual memory? Or at least reduce the pagefile to 2 GB or close? After all, I can't imagine many running programs as long as 3.24 GB (RAM available for the operating system) is not sufficient to contain all this. I guess only he pourrait happen, however, is why I'm reluctant to totally renounce virtual memory.

Anyway. Responses of all appreciated. Gimme a solutionand I will give my first-born. Or at least the neighbors...

  • The display of file space of total Information System Page after changing virtual memory allocation?

I thought that I understood that I could set up a file.sys page on any available partition on Windows, if I wished, for example, to create more virtual memory or move a file to another drive. However the changes I make to my computer are not appearing in the system information, after a reboot - why is - this?

I have successfully configured internal auxiliary training to take on a pagefile.sys when you use the system advanced settings in the computer file system properties. Page created on the auxiliary drive single file memory is equal to once and a half the size of the physical memory of the computer.

As I had created a larger file of the Page on the auxiliary drive, I then decided to reduce the Page file on the boot up to 300 MB drive. When I did make changes, I clicked on the set then OK and then I rebooted the entire computer.

After restarting the computer, I tried to check system information for a summary of the changes I had made to the file Page and virtual memory space and I was disappointed to see that the pagefile on the auxiliary drive does not show upward. Information system had just recorded space Page MB 300 in C:\pagefile.sys file, and there is no trace of the larger Page file that I created on the auxiliary drive. How is that?

If I go back to the virtual memory window in advanced system settings, it clearly shows I changed two files Page. Yet in Information System shows only the boot Page file drive. How is that?

I always use Internet Explorer with only 300 MB Page file space, and it works really faster than the default virtual memory allocation, however the system soon slows down after opening about 5 instances of Internet Explorer and the system starts asking to close application windows down to save memory. So why does the system not switch to use the Page file on the auxiliary drive?

  • problems with mpsigstub.exe and mpminisigstub.exe

for some time in nov 2009, these programs have emerged in taskmgr. I understand that they are part of the process of updating the Defender, however, when they appear, they consume 100% of CPU, the system responds almost entirely and, once started, they run for hours. (They start when the system is autonomous and are still running hours later). To regain control of the system I must reboot or kill the process (mpsigstub runs at 100% until it has been killed, while mpminisigstub takes place, also connecting CPU to 100%). to further complicate the issue, I have windows update the value ask my permission before installing updates, but this mpsigstub always appear from nowhere without in-your-leave. It seems to me that is not normal for that to happen.

    Hi bcampa,

First of all, I would say that you analyze the computer using an online virus scanner to remove the infections of malware or viruses on the computer and check.

  • Current problems with explorer.exe

I suffer with the current problems with explorer.exe in the last two weeks or more.

    Main symptoms:

Taskbar becomes unresponsive, and the currently open windows explore unresponsive.

They do not recover.  I have to kill the process in Task Manager, and then run explorer.exe task manager.  No error message is always displayed.

This happens several times a day.

    Other symptoms

Unable to create a Restore Point, because of the error when trying to get the Protection of the system:

There was an unexpected error in the property page:
System Restore has encountered an error. Please try to run the system restore again. (0 x 81000203)
Close the property page and try again.

Look in the event viewer I see many errors, which are for the most part a DistributedCOM

I followed the instructions I found online suggesting glancing component for COM Applications Services + and attempts to access these results in the following error message:

    Other info:
    I am running:

    • Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit SP1
    • AVG Free
    • Malwarebytes premium

The last thing I installed was AVG PC Tune Up.

    Action taken:
Have done the following (not in that order!), no positive findings:

    1. Have disabled all extensions of MS shell not using Extensions of Shell Manager.  This made no difference, even if the question seems not occur less often.  Or maybe not :-)
    2. MWB scan: found a threat yesterday that was deleted (ConduitTB.Gen), but the explorer.exe problem persists.
    3. A ran a chkdsk, that says that Windows has made corrections to the file system.  Don't know what that meant.  The log file does not mention specific errors.
    4. Ran sfc Scannow, who found no errors - at least he said he repaired 0 components.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think that your problems are largely self-inflicted.  AVG antivirus was once a good product, its reputation has declined in recent years.  I have no personal knowledge of AVG Free a / v one way or another.

AVG PC Tune Up, however, is much more likely to have caused problems.  I didn't author the following, but I agree with his sentiments:

    The key idea is:

Potential performance improvements resulting from the use of these programs are at best tiny and imperceptible.

At worst, they could damage your computer so bad to the point of requiring a reinstall of the operating system.

    Descendant of my forum,

Frankly, however, if you have a DVD of Windows 7 for the edition of Windows 7, you have installed, you might seriously consider to do a "repair installation". How to do a repair installation to repair Windows 7  Unfortunately, the links in this article of ISO of Windows 7 files are no longer valid.

For reasons not revealed, Microsoft does Windows 7 ISO files easily available.  If you have an installation of the retail of Windows 7 (IE, not OEM) but have lost/lost/damaged the installation DVD, you may be able to download the ISO required here, but from what I've seen, this system is a little laminated--> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 with all patches

The owner of the file is trustedinstaller.  I can't move, rename or delete it even when running as administrator.  The system says that I need the permission of the Trusted Installer.

Any idea of what could have caused this and how get rid of?

    Hello, saberman

The fact that the Details tab of the property sheet for your net.exe is not filled with the correct information is undoubtedly a problem. This is why suggested Yann Support engineer runs the System File Checker ("SFC"), which is designed to find and replace corrupt or missing system files from backups in your store of components (windows side by side or WinSXS folder; note that the KB929833 article I just linked ("System File Checker") has yet to be re-written to reflect the fact that) Since the advent of Windows Resource Protection in Windows Vista is no longer a dllcache folder in System32 and file system backups are now located @ C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup).  Running SFC should have found the problem with net.exe & repaired, without needing to resort to a system restore, which can sometimes cause problems as indicated by the error message you posted, i.e. that net.exe "is invalid for your system.  I suggest to read the article from KB929333 on SFC and see if enforcement of that tool is not correct the problem. If not, a good starting point for troubleshooting to solve the problem is the sfcdetail.txt newspaper, which shows the results of each operation of checking files and each transaction attempted repair. instructions for how extract/transform/load this journal of his 'home' in the service area global log (log CBS.log) in a usable format appear under the heading "How to view the details of the System File Checker process" of KB929333, and the instructions on how to repair files that are not SFC are included in the article "How replace manually a file system damaged by a known file correct copy" section (the two sections are available by clicking on the circle '+' sign next to "for more information").  It is to note that it is not uncommon to have to run SFC repeatedly to deal with corruption - 3 times is the recommended minimum, and I personally saw him require more... the error dialog box that you see leads me to believe there is more harm than simply a lack of functionality net.exe and CFS can be just the thing to get things straightened.

That said, it is also true that there is often more than one place that a protected system file is stored, other than the C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup on a Windows 7 computer. Typical areas of other instances of the net.exe include C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-net-command-line-tool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_5208a7a3d3caa54c records, while net1.exe can usually be discovered (on a 64 - bit with an AMD processor machine) and two C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-net1-command-line-tool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_86b24994b5e6bfbf at C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-net1-command-line-tool_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_e2d0e5186e4430f5 (note that the part "31bf3856ad364e35" of these folder names may vary). There may be other places in the store of components according to these things the way that system restore several times has been executed, whether an OEM computer (i.e., a pre-loaded with Windows by an Original Equipment Manufacturer) who has already found "Factory Spec", which updates Windows, service packs and other fixes/patches have been applied, and other factors.  The trick is to know what file is correct to use to replace a version corrupted in C:\Windows\System32 - which is not always easy to determine - and by "taking possession" file corrupted in question, so it may be deleted or replaced.

The windows component store peut usually be used as the source of a file replacement for one that SFC cannot fix by using the information in C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup, but a user must make sure that they know what they are doing to avoid the disaster (this is why Microsoft has included the "automatic" option to perform a "repair installation" to correct the corruption of the system)- and if the user has access to another , work computer running the same version of Windows, or for the installation media (if no Service Pack or other update of the kernel has been applied), or "slipstream" self-created media (if Windows 7 Service Pack 1 has been applied) designed specifically for the operating system in use, extraction verified copies of the record of those required are usually an "easier" approach  Detailed instructions on the use of all these forms of installation with SFC media are in the Wiki author try * 3of 6 December 2013 post to the thread of community "System File Checker and access files blocked, while detailed instructions on how to create a"slipstreamed"media are in his post from August 25, 2012 to pg 3 of the thread"guide to recovery of Windows 7 Home Premium account user word of. past lost, unable to connect, connection problem"(it is also useful to have a look at this whole thread, which has very useful information about different Windows 7 recovery options, and that includes links to downloadable PDFs (portable document files) on each of the options many.).  BTW, these pdf files is hosted on the cloud OneDrive service, which is where we usually place downloaded files (for example the zipped copy of your corrupt net.exe file you mention) and make them accessible to third parties. to learn more on how to do that I recommend community animator Gerry C J Cornellexcellent tutorial 'Forums Community Microsoft"on its site Computer Tips of Gerry .

As you noted, net.exe (and net1.exe - which, as I have, reminder has been around in all NTFS OS since @ least NT4.0 however hardly documented; official documentation only I ever)

seen mention that this is the Windows Embedded article Utility Net.exe : thus, as well as many others

protected system files) is 'held', in terms of security of the file/folder permissions, by service "Trusted Installer".  The implementation of the Protection of resources of Windows, Vista, limit property of this service-protected system files in large part to protect themselves against malicious or accidental deletions.  However, a user with administrative privileges ('high') can always take ownership over any file and then manipulate it at will.  TechNet Library 'ownership of a file or a folder' article provides advice on how to do it, but without expertise in the creation of a file batch, macro, visual basic program, Power Shell command or similar to handle this action based on a large scale, the procedure described is essentially limited to a one-at-a-time approach.  In my opinion, a better technique is to add the ability to take ownership of a file or folder from the context menu (right click "") of the operating system. many people have found the information and automated "registry hacks" in the Seven Forums tutorial "Windows 7: take ownership shortcut" very useful in this regard.  Even with this capability, users can occasionally run through a file that stubbornly refuses to behave even when the property has been reassigned to the said user. in this case, the stand-alone freeware program ("Portable Executable", requiring no installation runs) UnLocker can be valuable.

I'm hopeful that SFC be enough to take care of this problem for you, but if not, I would also consider

check the integrity of the hard disk / partition with Check Disk.  If none of these solves the problem, a repair installation may be in order.  Useful information on this procedure can be found in article KB2255099, "How to perform an upgrade in Place on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2" and the tutorial of the Forum seven "How to do a repair of trouble Windows 7 installation.  Good luck!

How can I return to 4.0 3.6 I've never had a problem with 3.6 and now 4.0 crashes all the time tell me how to go back

Downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first of all uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option 'remove my Firefox personal data '. If you select this option, it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.

Then you can install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your favorite courses, passwords etc.

I recommend, to avoid possible problems with decommissioning, accessing your profile folder and delete the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Delete these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, check their compatibility and cancel the toolbar customizations.

After that the last iOS 9.3 update my iphone 6 has problems with wifi, bluetooth and gps. Now, my wifi connection is slower and falls easily on a short distance. My bluetooth does the same. But the biggest problem is the GPS on my phone. I tried Island:

Having the same exact problems since the upgrade. In addition, battery drains very quickly now, and sometimes the phone becomes very hot. It took to the Genius Bar and they told me everything was normal in the diagnostic tests. Restored, restarting, etc., and always the same problems. GPS locates me, but then don't follow my movement at all and told to go outside as the gps is not detected even if I am outside. Bluetooth connection to the car and watch grave intermittently. You need to replace the battery in time clock (RTC) real of your computer.  It can also be called the CMOS or BIOS battery.

Many computers, this battery is an inexpensive CR2032 button available in almost every pharmacy corner.  There are, however, some computers (especially laptops) that require a different (and probably more expensive) battery.

Whatever the expense, almost all of these batteries are easy to replace.

  • HP 15 laptop: problem with the touchpad and the key "stuck."

    Hello!

Last weekend, I have an irritating problem with my HP 15 laptop. Bought two years ago and upgrades to Windows 10 a year ago.

First of all, my touchpad started to not work properly. It "freezes" and I can't use it until I click the ESC key, but it doesn't last and "freezes" again a few seconds later. Then, everytime I open a window where there is a text box (Start menu, edge browser, Control Panel, etc.), the number 5 is entered automatically and permanently, as if the button 5 has been blocked. I did a quick check and button 5 do not seem physically stuck.

Yesterday, I restored the system to the factory settings, so I'm back to 8.1 for Windows and then upgraded to Windows 10. Everything seems to work fine, but this morning, the problem was back. Is there something I can do? What is the problem caused by Windows 10 or the computer? Should I restore it to Windows 8.1? Everything worked great til last weekend, I don't know what that was.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Welcome to the HP support community @gouch3.

I understand that you have a problem with the keyboard and the touchpad on your laptop from HP 15.

Have you tried to use a keyboard external and mouse at all?

Have you tried to go to Safe Mode to see if the problems persist in there?

Have you tried to perform a material or forced reset Reset?

Did you do a test of material?

    Have you updated your drivers?

It could be a driver problem to be able to look at that for you, I need your model number. I wish I could give you an answer or not, but at this point without the troubleshooting results and the model number, it is difficult for me to say.

I can say that if everything works in point 8.1 of Windows without problem, the driver TROUBLESHOOTING is a great place to start. Please try to follow these steps for the keyboard and the touchpad of troubleshooting:

    • Beginning
    • Search for Device Manager
    • Search results, open Device Manager.
    • Click on display
    • Show hidden devices.
    • Click the arrow next to keyboards.
    • Right click on the name of the keyboard device.
    • Select uninstall.
    • Continue deleting the names of devices in the category keyboards until the feature of all the names have been uninstalled.
    • Restart the laptop twice.

    Touchpad:

    • Type of research, "Device Manager."
    • Click on Device Manager,
    • Expand mice and other pointing devices.
    • Right click on the TouchPad,
    • Click on uninstall.
    • Restart the computer laptop twice,
    • Reinstall the TouchPad card.

I found a document of troubleshooting for you to try also called Portable keyboard troubleshooting. Please be sure to follow the steps described in this document.

The best document I have for TouchPad problems is the use and troubleshooting of the TouchPad and ClickPad document.

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers that need to put up-to-date.

This is a great question other clients may also be questioned. When we came to a resolution, please share what has worked for you with others by marking this post as an acceptable Solution. If you want to show appreciation for my efforts today, please take a second to click the Thumbs Up button below.

If you need assistance, I would be more than happy to continue to help you. Please re-post with the results of the resolution of the problems. Could you please also provide your model number (How can I find my model number or product number?)

    Thank you!

  • Problems with Windows Update and load XP SP3

I had a problem with my system and had to replace my HARD drive and reload XP and all my applications and data.  Now, I installed SP2 and try to install SP3. Windows Update does not work (get the 080244019 error code x) and when I try to install the SP3 files from the Microsoft site, it'll run about halfway through and then stop and hang, displaying the message "Finish Installation" with bar at halfway of the progression.  I tried the MSRT and FixIt nothing helps.  I checked services.msc to see all the required services are enabled or started.  I read that some malware will be stop some services without notice.

After a few attempts to load the file SP3 failed, check Add/Remove programs in Control Panel Windows XP Service Pack lists 3 but no file size or to update the date information as with other programs.  My browser is IE8 and I was doing some Hot fix for Windows XP downloads, this adventure started about 3 weeks ago, but no other automatic update downloads.  I use the following McAfee provided by my ISP for protection AV and firewall with regular full scans.  Scan today revealed there is apparently a single trojan file that cannot be deleted, but there were no further details.  My system is also fully functional; I seem to get the updates for McAfee and other applications OK but not SP3.  I received or otherwise installed following updates or Hot Fix for XP downloads in the past 3 weeks:

    KB954550-v5

    KB932823-v3

    KB915800 v4

    KB884020

    KB926239

    KB2618444 (Windows IE8 security update)

I found an answer on another forum on editing the registry for the "/ Edit EDWARD CSDVersion value ' but have not yet tried waiting for any response to this request.  I'd like some useful suggestions.  Thank you and happy new year!

Thanks for the quick response.  I did some checking on my system, I have XP Home Edition ships with the system bought in July 2007.  Add/Remove Programs shows that the aborted install XP SP3 and IE8 installation; I tried to load the SP2 file but it doesn't show here as an addition, so it may have been part of the original XP CD and I just crush.  Even for IE7 so I am not able to drop back to all recommend you.  I will try your solution later today and post my results. I saved SP2, SP3 and IE8 in my office and a flash player to reload later according to your instructions.  Stay tuned.

It would be unusual for a CD of Windows XP (official) to have integrated Internet Explorer 7.
