Problem with my Qosmio G40 - 10F BIOS

Hello

I m desperate I need access to my computer before Wednesday or I could lose my job. I installed an SSD that went well. I adjusted the BIOS settings and now my computer will not boot.

He goes to logo Qosmio and logos of hard drives USB etc and crashes. I can't get into my BIOS because it seems to ignore the key to go into the BIOS (I tried ESC, DEL, F1, F2 or F8). The computer stays on the screen of the icon. I disassembled my machine and removed the rtc battery it s been one day but he hasn t reset the bios by default.

Someone at - it ideas? Is there a jumper / switch on the motherboard to reset MIPD? Y at - it a special key to press I don t know? Where ahould I hit him!

Any help would be greatly appreciated I will be in serious trouble if I can t get my work I know that I have ahoukdnt have mapessed ith BIOS, but I assumed the worst I would be able to access and reset.

O thank you very much for all the advice

Phil

Hello Phil

Now, I found this interesting thread on your problem. What is find a solution?
If nothing helps remove SSDS, set the BIOS settings by default (if you enter it again) and put the old HARD drive.

General SSDs should be recognized correctly and there is not a big problem with these updates.

Stand by. You have a problem with registration only or you aren't able to watch television at all?

I did some experiments with Qosmio G30 and WMC and I was able to record all programs available. Because of this, I would like to know if you are able to watch the TV or not.

  • I have some problems with my Qosmio G30-126

    Hello

I can feel that Toshiba does not have just customers to be technical but also is harmful to reputation because the Toshiba customers cannot use Toshiba product as do advertising -: performance, stability...

I bought 1.5 year ago Quosmio G30-126, which was earlier model (more expensive) at this time. But this model does not allow me to correct the work. Ways to collapse the system lose the work during treatment, slowing down my productivity.

If I contacted the service, was always somewhere else than the warranty conditions.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/QOSMIO_G30_BIOS_UPDATE/

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/generic/PRODUCT_UPDATE_RAID_DRIVER/

For this I am sure about the instability and not much choice of graphics GeForce GO 7600 card. The driver for Vista which has been updated several times of Toshiba (and after a year as buying by NVidia for Vista - until that moment only for XP) seems to be like another flaw of Toshiba.

Also have problems with scratches on the screen. The framework is too soft (high and low) and "technicals" told me I was putting something heavy on top... which I did not, but anywhere: in this case it can scratch it if it is to stay on the table. Second think it is I travel a lot with her... My answer is Yes, it is portable and not PC... It's the first laptop on which have stripes, using laptops for the last 12 years and 17 "for the last 5 years.

Also feel funny that I am a customer subscribed and that waiting will be provided, all news of Toshiba, not only on new products, but also all product updates... nothing happen.

Anyone have a similar experience as it is written above?

    Hana

The year last January or February my friend give me his newest Qosmio G30. I ve used a month. I've install my favorite games and I also used it to scan all my movies of course done.

The laptop has been pre-installed with Vista, but we have also installed Windows XP Home edition on the second partition to check the performance in the two operating systems. WXP works perfectly and after some personal configurations that Vista was also good working operating system. I recorded a hours of movies, he coded and burned about 20 DVDs. So I hope you believe me that this laptop has been uninterrupted on the race. Encoding is not short and portable process runs almost 24 hours a day.

After a month of use I didn't noticed anything negative and I can say that the Qosmio G30 is a fabulous laptop. Unfortunately a bit expensive for me.
I don't know what you're doing with expensive products, but I always buy the extended warranty to avoid a risk of material damage. I don't want to pay for costly repairs. For my new LCD TV I paid about 130 euros for 2 years warranty. Now I don't what will happen over the next 4 years.

Thus, everyone has their own way how to use laptop and to discuss the system collapse, lose the work during treatment, slowing my productivity is not so easy. Who knows what applications, freeware or shareware you stuff use? Who knows what make your system unstable?

I use my Satellite 17 nearly 2 years of work and private things and I always use original preinstalled Vista. Why I don't have this kind of problems?
This with scratches on the screen is too strange for me. I wonder how this can happen. After closing the cover of the display, the screen is protected and there is no chance to make scratches on it.

One last thing: maybe I didn t understand you well, but what is your problem with the driver updated, updated BIOS or corrections? Each laptop manufacturer offers different updates or upgrades to improve performance, better security, or functionality of the software. Toshiba do this too and this process would not present yesterday, but for years.

Sorry mate, a side that I understand your wish to discuss all of these negative issues but just blame laptop manufacturer for every stupid thing is not understandable for me. According to me, you know a lot of people say that PC 80% disorders are not result of bad hardware/software, but because nobody who are sitting in front of it.

What to say at the end? If possible, buy extended warranty to be on the safe side, try to have the right operating system, from time to time do the backup data, make sure that the laptop is placed correctly on the desktop to avoid overheating and I'm sure you'll use your Qosmio for a long time.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F: cannot use IRDA

I recently received this Qosmio G40 - 10F and I read on the specifications for its IR. But infrared devices such as the transfer of my phone to the laptop does not work. There is no such IRDA device on Device Manager to activate. So I got the idea that I could check on the bios.
But I do not have the bios boot.
It is usually used to be the DELETE key on my computer but when I boot on the laptop, it does not indicate any key to boot to the bios.

I would appreciate if I could get help at the start of the BIOS or set the IRDA settings on.
    Thanx

I agree, esc should do the trick. :)

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F - graphics card problem

I bought my laptop in 2007 and now have a problem with the video card 8600 m GT (vertical or horizontal lines show and get a message on the GPU).

  • Signal (PAL 60) record with the Qosmio G40 Line In (Capture) Option

I'm in Australia - and I have a lot of NTSC video tapes I want to MPEG...

These bands play very well on all the TVs/LCD TV in the House.

Qosmio G40 seems to have problems with PAL 60 signal that sends my VHS player...

My VHS/DVD from Toshiba drive is to convert NTSC to PAL 60 signal - as this VHS player bought in Australia - this seems to be the Australian standard bought a VHS/DVD player.

There is no option on the VHS player to the NTSC signal... I tried another VHS player - and it gives me the same output PAL 60, this player also could leave the NTSC signal...

So I wonder if the Qosmio G40 is able to record the signal PAL 60 - maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere...

I use Ulead movie maker software, which is supplied with the machine... but I don't see any options on the support PAL 60...
Maybe the TV card installed in the machine does not support PAL 60 - I can't find any info about this...

Maybe I need to use a software of different capture which will support PAL 60 options...
Or maybe I just buy a VHS of America drive, and qosmio q40 will capture the NTSC image very well... (I already have a few products from 110V at home)

    Any thoughts?

    Hello

I'm not sure if this is possible, but you can check the BIOS settings, if there is an option that would allows you to change settings of NTCS/PAL.

    Check it out

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F down arrow is triggered by itself

Qosmio G40 - 10th down arrow seems to trigger by itself while booting and while I view web pages.

The problem surface when I was accessing the web pages at the start of the screen to scroll down by himself.
Before, I thought that the button may be pressed hard but when I looked at the issue through a senser key application to test what triggers the down arrow key press on and found that two or three other keys trigger arrow key down automatically.
namely, in arrow, i key, key k, function keys.

But when I press ESC or Page up/Page down, scrolling stops for a while but starts to make arrow down by itself again.

I have re-installed and restored the entire operating system to the date of loading of the factory and the problem solved only for a few minutes and the issue is back.

I am convinced that this is due to software problem and not a hardware problem, as the key works fine for a while and after a few minutes, begins to trigger arrow down permanently.

    Please advise,
    Thank you.

Have you tried an external USB keyboard and then you have the same problem?

I think that it s a hardware problem and the keyboard must be exchanged, but that before test with an external keyboard.

  • Initial problems with my Qosmio

    Hi all

Now please don't misunderstand here because I liked my Qosmio, it's good game power little. - but there are a few things that I was very unhappy and others I was impressed and have simply not had the opportunity to share with the community.

First of all, I live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and you may remember that we had major problems with earthquakes, these are now installed but nevertheless relate to my story.

Also related that I have a blood disease which caused damage to my skin over the years, leaving less sensitive most people are accustomed.

    First parts of displeasure.
I bought my Qosmio, nine of Harvey Normans in Christchurch, I bought the extended warranty, the yards brand new... No problems; However after about 6 weeks, I finally decided to look beyond the image of the BIOS Toshiba reviews that see you when the machine starts up to read what was on my machine.

    (1) to my surprise and dismay I found out that my bios stated that 1 my 4 core CPU core was locked and that the BIOS was NFR (not for resale) that is to say the machine was supposed to be one that was released by Toshiba as a demonstrator, confused, that I talked to Toshiba New Zealand , who basically told me that it "was not possible and I must be mistaken", to research on the Web from Toshiba site, I couldn't find a BIOS version later.

    (2) I decided after using for the system that it was time to make a recovery and began in the recovery disc creation process, everything went well and I decided to do a clean cleaning at all, even if it would take some time, some time was certainly what he needed, I started on the first CD and started the process. 8 hours later I finally got a message pop up on the screen saying that the recovery had... failure of SIP. OH NO.. !

I restarted the hard disk in the vain hope that it was a mistake on the part of the message, but it wasn't.
Trolling the Internet on my desktop computer, I found a reference to failed drives to rescue & recovery for my model due to a fault in the creation of the disk.

I called Toshiba who informed me the only way I could get the disks of rescue and recovery had to pay for them, I informed them that I already had rescue and recovery disks, but they did not work, they don't want to know - essentially pay up or shut up.

I got my DVD of windows 7 and install it on my Toshiba using the serial number on the device that I caught from the recovery discs manually, decompression all drivers and install them manually as well, in the end, I had a whole system that works, no thank you recovery disks.

Now these are not all the bad things, but I must say that the service I received from Toshiba SUCK!

Shortly after that, we had earthquakes of Christchurch that killed so many people, at the time that their Commission that I had my Qosmio on the kitchen table and had prepared just a large cup of coffee, I sat or rather is dropped down as the earthquake hit - it was extremely violent and struck me on the floor. When everything settles I picked up myself - to find my coffee - all 900mls worth was now on the keyboard of Toshibas and biscuit barrel my wife kept on the table had fallen more to slam the back of the lid of the laptop and it has broken in two places; However, the computer was still ongoing! incredible.

I very quickly stop the machine down and very gently at end it to the back corner to allow the coffee to drain on a towel. Although damaged keyboard soaked after I had dried the machine and dehumidified it I then ran it for a month to use it to manage our statement of claim - I have to say its a bit beasty Tuff.

Now, a kind word for Toshiba, after them on incidents and curious about the status of the warranty etc, phoning told me that I should have my Qosmio verified and provided with a certified Toshiba technician said he was OK, clean to the top of the coffee and all repairs worked that "Toshiba would honour all other issues related to the guarantee based on own issues merit" I was basically shocked if their tech said that it was OK then, it was OK and my warranty would continue. So Bravo to Toshiba for a vision very fair to the guarantees.

Now for the good, the bad and the dangerous plain.
Finally a new BIOS has appeared on the support site, I downloaded it looking forward with impatience to unlock this core I was missing, I installed it and the system has restarted after you start Windows 7 installed some additional elements of INF files and I found that I had a couple of additional entries in the BIOS.

After that my system has been repaired I had some more memory added to it by Toshiba technology, it also made me a working set of rescue and recovery disks that I was crazy, he did a beautiful job on the machine and it was back to looking brand new, into the new smell of tech.

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F - extra hard drive

    Hello

I have recently purchase a G40 thinking it was x 2 of physical drives, it appears in this model there is only a single physical HD

I read in many places, there is room for the G40-10 for a reader to additional disk placed inside the machine but this model seems to have simply a fixed cover but the space for the reader to be mounted

Nobody knows of the back plate is removed and an additional hard drive caddy to store additional drive - it should be relatively simple with a heat dissipation and other I think all that is needed is the replacement carriage and connector cable SATA - x motherboard 2 recognisies readers

All I really want to know is

    (1) is it possible
    (2) is - someone doing it
    (3) toshiba reference numbers for the caddy and for a G40 - 10F sata cables

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30, but I saw G40 and if I remember, although in the lower corner, that there are two HARD drives covers. Two of them are placed close to the battery, and they have one, how to say, plastic circle. AFAIK the G40 is offered with one or two hard drives. The first HARD disk is placed inside fixed with a screw. One extra is placed under the second HARD drive cover fixed with two screws.

I don't really know if your G40 is extensible, but you can contact the service provider authorized in your country. They have access to the database of Toshiba and they can check it for you. Part number is usually internal case and it is not easy to find number of exact part for these additional parts like the drive bracket HARD or cables.

Make a call and pick up information on the possibility of upgrade HARD drive.
One last thing: try to remove the cover for the second HARD drive and check if the HARD drive connector is there.

  • Qosmio G40 - 10F won't boot up - PCI Express error

I recently installed a windows update and the laptop came in restart mode.
When the system boots it tries to start then I get a say black screen error PCI Express.

I tried a system restore, but the disc does not start, also tried to access the bios and it does not work.

Can I please ask for more help on this one because I don't have any problems at all, everything seems that a windows update has messed with my config in the bios.

    Help, please!

    Hello

I can't believe that Windows update would affect the BIOS.

In my opinion, this must be just bad luck.

PCI Express error means generally that a PCI device on the motherboard has started to malfunction.

This means that it could be a motherboard problem that could be solved by replacing the mobo

Sorry man, but I think that you don't have a lot of options here... seems that Toshiba ASP technician should take a look at this question :(

  • I want to install Win XP on Vista on Qosmio G40 - 10F - need drivers

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G40-10th which has Windows Vista.
I want to switch to Windows XP but worry about what drivers I need and where can I get them?

Also, I wonder if XP installation means that I would be able to use the Vista recovery disk I got with the Qosmio.

    Any help is very appreciated,

    Kind regards

    EOC

    Hello

Go to the Toshiba driver page:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

And check if you have the drivers for win xp for your model, otherwise, it will be useless to install it.

For my laptop, I installed Vmware with windows xp inside environment.

  • I had problems with my Qosmio F10

    Dear friends,

Let me share my problems with you and please help me with a solution for this.
I have my qosmio F10 machine its over 1.5 years. It has been repaired 3 times since I bought it.

1 (6 months after I bought it), I had a problem with my machine. ASP in Holland said that my Chipset and my V - RAM has been modified to be a new (chipset 855 PM at 915 PM & VGA card GeForce FXGo5700 to Go6600)

2nd (6 months after the 1st repair), another problem occurred. My sound card was in trouble and was changed. It is ok.

3rd (4 months after the 2nd repair), my system frozen. Toshiba Netherland replaced the fan and installed the new graphics processor. The spund of fan drives me crazy.

And now, I just got a problem this morning. When I turned on my power, I did not see anything on my screen (white screen, even no happened qosmio opening graphics.) Looks like I got a same problem with my 1st. Would someone like to help me? What should I do now? Many problems has been held since the 1st repair, I'm tired this kind of problems. Could you guys help me, please?
    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    (Netherlands)

    Hello

I'll try to help you, but I guess it's a hardware problem and you will not be able to solve this problem without additional and service partner assistance.

But we could try to find the fault. You should try to connect the laptop to the external display and could test whether the display will appear on the second screen.
If this isn't the case, everything looks like a bad GPU operate probably the fault of the motherboard.

Then contact the ASP in Holland and explain the situation as a whole.

    Good luck

  • Some strange problems with laptop Qosmio

I don't know it is a problem of Qosmio, but I'm fairly well known when it comes to computers and I've never heard of it before. Unfortunately, it is not my computer. They're my friends, so I'm on the phone with him.

She has a Qosmio and she says she found the top keyboard to be insensitive, and while she can move the keyboard and the cursor moves, she cannot click the buttons with her. Also, when she opens a browser etc it goes full screen, and she loses the toolbars out of most of the programs.

Also, when she opens the word it is says she control pressed and it request if she wants to start in safe mode. If it maintains the power button down to turn it out (only means she can) it doesn't fix it.

She said that she had been once before, and was able to solve what she said, but do not remember how, but she kept the keys (!)

Someone at - it ideas? Thank you very much!

    Hello

This question is unclear to me because it sounds a little confusing description.
But I don t think it has something to do with the Qosmio material. It sounds more like a software problem.

So first it would be very interesting to know how much time the OS works on the laptop and what was the last installation of the OS?
Maybe a corrupt registry and trash key OS is responsible for this matter. This is possible because you said something about safe mode
