Problem with optical drive SATA with ESX 3.5 on HP Proliant ML 350

Recently installed ESX 3.5 on 60 day trial on the new server, HP Proliant ML350 G5, found that what connection by customer VMWare Inf as not able to see the host Sata optical drive, ditto even VMS applies when creating new virtual machines, must use emulated local laptop computer client IDE drive to see the ISO image.

Connected call with HP and they came with http://tinyrul.com/qpzrb5 article which indicates the known problem though on DL385 - "HP works with VMware to correct the incompatibility with the SATA device driver that is causing the problem with the optical CD/DVD drive.

Another link on the same issue http://www.vmware.com/support/vi3/doc/drivercd/esx350-ahci-350.1.2-146051.html

I asked HP if possible buy an IDE DVD player but my image processor designed to work only with this model.  Then appears stuffed that not a not support contract with VMWare to connect problem I'm have sent customer service online application to see if they can help you

Regarding the browser data store.  Toggle the display of data warehouses in the vi client.  Or press ctrl-shift-d.  Here, right-click on your data store, and then select Browse datastore.  When that opens, add at the top of your taskbar, next to the folder icon, is a download icon, a disc with an arrow.  This will allow you to download files to your data store.  Navigate to a folder in your data store and download the ISO to.

It is a roundabout process, but will work if other methods fail.  With the ILO.  You can map your local cd through the ILO on a drive on the local ESX host.  This will make your local client drive, walk of the esx.  With one side mounted ESX host, in the settings of your virtual machine, you can edit the cd and this time, instead of customer, you can select the host device.

Verify that the setting for the mode promiscuious group switch or port on your physical esx server to which you connect to your ESX virtual server is set to "Allow" of security, it is not the default.  It should look like the screenshot attached.

  • Problems with ESX VSphere Enterprise license more

Hi, I have a host ESX 4.0 with 2 processor that is running under eval. I bought 2 x 1 processor license (I'm told that you can not buy a 1 x processor 2 licenses, you must purchase a separate license for each processor).

I downloaded the keys, but when I entered I get the error "the entered license key doesn't have a capacity of this entity).

I'm guessing it's because vSphere knows the host with two processors, but I can get only one key at a time by the processor he does like this?

    Hi Matt,

If you have two keys, you should be able to combine your licenses in a single key. Go to the website of VMware license portal web and generate your new key.

    It will be useful.

  • Star Wars h.e. 15-an000nl: optical drive Swap with a ssd will void the warranty?

    Hi all

I am a proud new owner of this machine, and since it comes with a 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM and I am also a happy owner of an SSD, I was wondering if the optical drive with the ssd Exchange void my warranty?

I read a little the other q / a and I see that if I try to reach the drive, with all the screws and the cover plastic to raise, I'll probably end by unsecured (actually is not very clear if it's for sure or I'll use a ssd tested non hp...) and since then to remove the optical drive , I just remove a screw, buy an adapter and you're good to go...

So my question is: what limits should I beyond the warranty for you? It's just the opening action itself, or there is more?

And since I write here, optical drive sata port is a sata3 as (I hope) the hard disk it is? Would you recommend this operation?

Thanks in advance for any assistance received...

The optical drive is an authorized user of replacement so you can put an SSD in an optical caddy and will not void the warranty but I do not recommend: 1. the interface is slower; and 2. You cannot start it. Unfortunately, access to the internal hard drive space is verboten and may void the warranty. We can speculate and say if it's done well, nobody would know and likely HP won't guarantee, but we can get official word on this, so the smartest thing is to assume the worst. If you don't care the guarantee and want just your laptop to be quick, we are happy to help you with the understanding that you risk the warranty.

  • Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.

    Description of the problem:

Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.

    Steps to recreate:

    UEFI:

    1. Start the PC in diagnosis system UEFI (F2 at the STATION)
    2. Pane controls
    3. Optical drive
    4. Sequential control
    5. Error: Optical drive not installed.

    8.1 Windows (x 64):

    1. Run Device Manager
    2. Error: No CD/DVD Drives section.
    3. Search for new hardware changes nothing.

    Relevant system specs:

Mobile: HP Pavilion 15-n023sa (construction of vanilla)

    Optical drive: HP DVDRAM gu70n

    Steps already taken to solve:

    • Replaced the DVD drive with one of the similar specs of HP Pavilion. The replaced gn70n perfectly in the other machine. No change on problem laptop. Conclusion: DVD player works, and there is no problems with Windows 8.1 (x 64).
    • Removed DVD player. Restarted the computer. Sign in to Windows. Stop. Replace the DVD drive. Start the laptop. This is trying to solve defects of material with the PnP devices; more help to solve any problems of intermittent loose connection. Conclusion: No change.
    • Ran, troubleshooting of hardware and devices, via the control panel. Problem found: material changes may not have been detected. Explore more options just takes you through http://social.answers.microsoft.com/search/en-us/?query=hardware+device, that it is a 404 error page. Conclusion: Help and Support Windows is sorely lacking. They show no more information than just that something was detected as incorrect.
    • Ran the Microsoft FixIt troubleshooting of optical disc and auto repairman. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/8/F586FB7C-78E0-40EB-AF41-4C925F803CAF/CDDVDWin8.meta.dia... The convenience store has reported that the device was not found. He recommended to remove all power cables, power off, and various other things which have no relevance for computer laptop troubleshooting of switching equipment. He said: If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer. Conclusion: Windows troubleshooting can not solve the problem.
    • Run Windows Update to ensure that all updates and definitions have been installed. Conclusion: Windows is perfectly up to date.
    • Run a complete Rootkit and malware using Sbybot S & D 2.3 heuristic analysis. as a signature database scan using Windows Defender. Conclusion: Laptop is clean of rootkits and malware, to the best of my knowledge.

    Notes:

The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.

The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.

There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.

The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.

The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.

  • Optical drive internal appearing as a removable device

I recently bought an operation of Dell Latitude E6420 used Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit (SP1) and I am also very happy with it. But after I finished installing all the drivers that have been recommended since the Dell Web site, he developed an unusual problem: the optical drive (PLDS DVD +-RW OF THE - 8A3S) appears as removable material, even if it's not, and if I "eject" it, I need to restart the system before it works again.

This did not happen before on this machine and is the first time that I've ever known a problem like that, never. My mother and a friend also bought the same model at the same time - there is a similar problem on my mother (also Win 7 x 64) machine but not on the computer of my friend (8.1 Win x 64).

I figured that maybe that's a problem of driver, but re - install the driver from the optical device and even do a system restore didn't fix it. I also found some information of Microsoft Windows Hardware Dev Center Archive, which States:

    Incorrect configuration of SATA

Incorrect configuration of SATA may appear in the following situations:

    • If the system incorrectly identifies a SATA port internal as external, Windows disables LPM on this port, and therefore can not save on the port. In addition, Windows treats the internal non-removable device that is connected to this port as a removable device. For example, it appears in the device safely remove dialog box in the toolbar State system and in devices and printers.
    • If an external SATA port is not properly configured, it is possible for a device that is connected to the port to be considered non-removable and therefore do not attend the safely remove an instrument dialog box in the toolbar State system and in devices and printers.

If an internal SATA port is incorrectly configured as a port external SATA, a system vendor or administrator can fix without updating the BIOS OF THE system or the Windows software.

To work around this problem, you can disable external SATA support on a per track basis by setting the value of the TreatAsInternalPort registry key to 1, and then restart the system.

If the system has internal and external SATA ports, but a device that is attached to a port internal SATA appears in the dialog box safely remove devices in the system tray or in devices and printers, you should reset the registry key for the port.

I could not find the registry key mentioned and I am reluctant to change the registry without being certain of what it is I'm supposed to do. Someone solved a similar problem and any help please?

    Hi, Fatima.

I think that most portable DVD players are actually removable and should be displayed as such. "Eject" to disable the device, but pulling out and plugging it back in should restore the functionality.

  • [SOLVED] Optical drive empty missing in Windows Explorer, but not in the folder of the computer or Device Manager. Windows 7 x 64 HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx

The problem: the optical drive [cd/dvd burner] icon is missing in Windows Explorer when no media inserted in the drive. Even if the optical drive icon in Windows Explorer when a disc is inserted in the drive.

However, the optical drive appears in 'Device Manager' and in 'Computer' folder or no media is inserted in the reader as to the latter.  This doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.  It is a Windows 7 problem [or character?], which seems to be set [or omitted] in Windows 8.

Here are the step by step process to solve this problem:

    1. open Windows Explorer [click on "Start" and type "Windows Explorer" in the search box, then click on the first result to the Summit, which is "Windows Explorer"]
    2. in Windows Explorer, click on "Organize" (top left of the window).
    3. in the click from the drop-down list 'folder and search options '.
    4. at the bottom of the window that comes up, under the "Navigation" tick to choose 'show all files '.

I need to do this every time I have to reinstall Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium on my HP Pavilion dv6-3032tx laptop.

  • Problems with QE65000 and optical driver Océna spectrometer

Hi, a few months ago, I installed the driver to use the spectrometers of USB4000, HR4000 and QE65000 with LabVIEW 2010 with Windows 7 - x 64. Recently, I measured the spectrum of the Source of Calibration HG - 1 Mercury Argon with the help of software SpectraSuite and a LabVIEW program QE65000 spectrometer ("optical ocean 2000 4000 acquire continuous Waveform.vi, example of library, Fig1"). When I got the two spectra, I observed that there is a shift to the infrared region of the spectrum with LabVIEW program. Acquired calibration coefficients are consistent with "wavelength calibration data" that comes with the spectrometer (Fig2). So, I would like to know if there are problems with the example of the library program or what is the problem?. Attached to this message I send image of obtained spectra.

The black figure is the spectrum obtained with the example LabVIEW program, including the ocean optical library. The red graph is the spectrum obtained with SpectraSuite and coinciding with the real spectrum of the HG-1 lamp.

  • Problem with optical drive

    Hello

I backed up all my files on a DVD. Then formatted and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate. At first I could access the files on my DVD, now it says I need to format the disk in drive D, until I can use it. When I cancel, he said that d:\ is not accessible. Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

    Thank you

    Hello again RicTech,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to access the files. The only thing I can think in light of what you posted is to check to make sure that you have updated drivers optical drive on your computer. To do this, I would recommend running the HP Support Assistant to update all your drivers HP and to ensure that you have completed all your Windows updates as well.

If you could re-post with the results it will help others in the future that have the same problem. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

I have a problem with my CD drive on my laptop. Whenever I insert a disc and it runs well, but it tends to really vibrate wrong, I checked the driver updates but none are currently and I checked for any damage but I see nothing.

Have you tested with several different CDs or DVDs?
