Problem with starting after trying to install XP.

I have a Samsung NF110 netbook with an external cd drive. The hard drive has two partitions - c: and d:. C: installed Windows 7 and d: was empty. I wanted a machine to dual-boot with Windows 7 and XP in different partitions. I tried to install XP on the d: partition but during installation only choice was installed on the c: partition (replace Windows 7). I decided to do it and then I hope to install Windows 7 on the d: partition later. The installation process copied all files XP from the CD, but when it came to restart it has always tried to boot from the cd and start the implementation process. I tried to remove the cd drive, and then it came with NT invalid Boot.ini detect failed. I tried various suggestions found on forums to fix this. The most popular seems to be to get to the Recovery Console, and then type bootcfg/list and bootcfg /rebuild. When I do bootcfg/list it shows a Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition installed. However after the rest of the instructions for example enter the loading and do/fastdetect identifier does not solve the problem. Someone at - it any other suggestions to correct what I guess is an MBR corrupted. Wouldn't be better to just format the entire hard drive and start from scratch?

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

You must install the oldest OS first, so XP first then win 7. XP doesn't know how to run win 7, so if you install after win 7, you will lose the ability to boot under win 7. A repair of Windows 7 installation can fix.

install xp and when you do, be sure to create 2 partitions, one for xp and one for win 7

Follow the info below to try a Startup Repair:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

If yours falls into the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista repair disc.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

  • problem with start after updates

MY computer is in a continuous loop.  It closes down to install windows updates and now it opens with the configuration of updates and gives thanks to the step 1 and 2 and then stops.  I tried to press F8 when it restarts and then try to start in safe mode with command prompt so that I can put in order to make a system restore, but it never gives me the opportunity to type in the command.  Instead, he goes to the window to the Startup Repair, looking for repairs and restarts on its own and I'm back to square one.

You should be tapping F8, pressing her to get into safe mode.

If you can't get into safe mode, you need to try this way to fix your computer:

  • After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers

    Hello

After the last updates of windows have problems with start up and now drivers. I get an error code 21 when I try to install the drivers AMD apparently missing.

May 14, last night I had several (automatically) downloaded windows update

Today, I was unable to boot my computer with Windows - tried the disk check, start checks etc, and eventually had to use System Restore (for help before the critical update to restore).

Perfection, everything works, but knowing that windows will attempt to redo an automatic update, tried to check online - no one seemed to have a problem and (naivly) thinking I could always do another restore of the system, I rebooted again.

Same thing worse. Could not do a sys restore either just before restarting or last night. Chose a date earlier (last week) but then lost the USB drivers and pilots display. Downloaded updated but refuses to let my AMD driver install Windows I have a very unpleasant screen... and I must now stop the installation of this update "critical."

Would appreciate advice how do my installed display driver or whether anyone else has problems following this update

    Thank you

  • After trying to install the updates. my computer is now stuck in constant reboot mode while showing "Configuring updates 3 of 3 0%, do not turn off your computer.

    Visa update problem

After trying to install the updates.  my computer is now stuck in constant reboot mode while showing "Configuring updates 3 of 3 0%, do not turn off your computer.  I tried to follow the instructions provided here because it seemed to be the same problem.  But when I restart and hold down the F8 key so I can boot into safe mode, I tried selecting safe mode and I get the same results, and I tried again by selecting the option 'Disable automatic reboot' which seems to be an option on the same page with the option of safe mode.  Whatever it is, the same message comes back and I can never get to where I can see my desktop to click 'start '.  I can't get out of this cycle.  I installed the update because it said I needed to install it.

    *************************************************************************************************************************************************

Turn off your computer by holding the power button for about 20 seconds.

Start your computer in safe mode: press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears

Disable the automatic restart in the event of system failure:

    • Click Start
    • Click on Control Panel
    • Click on system and Maintenance link.
    • Click on the system link
    • In the left pane, click Advanced system settings
    • Locate the startup and recovery area, click the settings button.
    • In the startup and recovery window, uncheck the box next to automatically restart.
    • Click OK in the startup and recovery window
    • Click OK in the System Properties window
    • Close the system window

After that... While STAYING in safe mode I do a system restore and maybe try a manual install of the update later.

For the sake of space I refer you to the article about how to proceed.

After trying to install a printer, Epsom SX130, on Windows 7, WORD has stopped working - have tried uninstall & restore but still cannot use WORD. After paying only £ 65.00 to restore the office, I'm very unhappy. It is the only document that we need to print, others may be sent by e-mail, but now I can't even open Word documents to use as attachments to an email. I'm totally desperate, do we buy a 'small' I wonder. More than 60 years, when I started it, maybe I was just too old or it's Windows 7 just make my / our life uncomfortable for us to update: Please keep in mind, I'm very, very, ridiculous with computers. We have done with a drive by the way if that makes a difference & downloaded an update. If the answer is "not compatible" that's fine, I can make documents on the old computer, BUT need words for emails: i.e. repeat orders etc. which are vital to our system of new physicians.

  • After trying to install a specific program, I get this appcrash, check the event log,

    * Original title: app Crash

In general, I store my programs on a USB key. I've never had a problem installing or running

install them on my computuer using windows 7 home edition 64-bit.

Lately after trying to install a specific program, I get this appcrash, check the event log.

It seems to say that the file for this installation is damaged, but how can this be since the installation has worked before?

Get corrupted - it happens.  Jump drives die all the time.  You might be able to reformat (erase) and get more life out of it, or you can get a new USB, install again and use it until it is damaged again.

Average life of a disk is 5.2 years, but just like people, many drive die younger and many die older. You never know what will be yours.

    Hi Captainsniz

There are a few things to try. Keep doing this until the problem disappears.

First of all, if you have not already, shut down the computer completely, wait about 1 minute, then restart.

Disconnect the wifi network either via system preferences, either by pressing the "Option" key and clicking on the wifi menu bar icon.

Reset the DHCP lease by going to system preferences > network and show Advanced Options, and then click the button to "Renew the DHCP lease" TCP/IP tab.

You can delete the wifi network of system preferences > network > network name... then close system preferences. Then reopen and add the network in.

You can also restart your wifi router, it erases the old connections. Most of the routers you just turn off and wait a few minutes, then restart. You can also reset your ISP modem if you have a.

Finally, you can try to reset the PRAM and SMC on your Mac. I'll get this info here on Apple Support KBs for your particular Mac.

Be sure to back up your computer.

    Hope this helps, Greg

    Bruce,

Do you remember if you wanted to do a new installation or had you partitioned your hard drive to install it in a dual boot with Vista?

If you do not have a BONE now it sounds lik evous was the first choice that clears your current installation.

You need to reinstall Vista from your original media to recover your system if this is the case.

Unfortunately, if this is what you choose, you have lost all the data that was on your hard drive as well.
