Problem with the administrator account of the domain on Windows 2008 servers

After changing our domain admin password, all servers 2008 report on the account locked when you try to connect.  The account shows not locked in AD.  2003 servers are not affected.  Anyone can shed some light on this problem?

Hi patdav_adh,

Your Windows is beyond the scope of what is handled in this forum of consumer. I suggest you repost among the public IT to Technet Windows Serverprofessionals. Thank you!

  • showacls works only with the unc on windows 2008 servers paths

    Hi people!

We use the command showAcls.exe to the folder list ntfs permissions (we then use this list for some internal processes).  It worked well UNTIL we have upgraded a server to Windows 2008.  When we have a command like:

    showacls \\fs05\Userhome_45\brian-ba

It returns nothing. No error, no data, just returns to the command prompt.   Needless to say that this command worked fine until the \\fs05 server has been upgraded.  I have found that if:

I put a copy of showAcls.exe on the \\fs05 server and remote control and then in the server AND reference the full physical path, it will work.

    rcmd \\fs05 s:\showacls "s:\HO_USR1\User_Data_Processing\Userhome_45\brian-ba" / s

Everyone knows this? Or am I the only one still using showAcls.exe?

Would love to hear of a workaround

    Thank you!

Impossible to install, i-tunes, quick time and I downloaded Security software. Error message indicates a problem with the windows package install. On Vista, this is a fairly new problem

    Hi Jack8053,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

    · The error message you get when you try to install a software, what exactly?

    · Remember to make changes on the computer before this problem?

It seems to be that some of the files windows install is corrupt. I have a few steps that might help you to solve the problem:

    Method 1

Make sure that the Windows Installer service is running.
1 open run and type services.msc, and then press ENTER.

    2. in the services window, locate the Windows Installer service in the services list.
    3. check that the status is "started". If the condition column is empty,
Right-click Windows Installer, and then select start.
    4. change the Startup Type to automatic (default is Manual), then
    Restart the computer.

    Method 2

Run a scan of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files.

To do this, follow the steps below:

    1. click on the Start button.

    2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories.

    3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option.

    4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option.

    5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.

    6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press ENTER.

    7. a message is displayed indicating that "the system scan will start.

    8. be patient because the analysis may take some time.

    9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue.

    10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.

    11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

  • Problems with the upgrade to Windows Windows 7 10 and get the message 'could not be updated. "portable

    Original title: Windows 7

    I have 2 questions-

I have a laptop Windows 7 when I tried to update Windows 10 received a message that it could not be updated.  Has there never been a solution or an update for those of us who have a version of Windows 7 which initially could not updated for Windows 10?

I have a computer I upgraded Windows 10 and really like it.  I do not understand that I can not make a copy of 10 Windows on a computer, I've updated for Windows 10.  Is it possible for me to download a copy of Windows 10 on my laptop Windows 7 to make a restore CD in the case of a computer problem?

You can try the upgrade manually:

    Task of pre-required

When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.
    • If you are updated through Windows Update, when download reaches 100% disconnect from the LAN (Ethernet) Internet or Wi - Fi, then proceed with the installation.
    • If this does not work, try using the. ISO file to upgrade if possible.
    • If you are connected to a domain, go to a local account.
    • If you have an external equipment, attached to the machine, unplug them (example, game controllers, USB sticks, external hard drive, printers, peripherals not essential).

You also have the possibility to choose 'Keep personal files only', which guarantees a successful in most cases installation.

  • You might not have permission (problem of the domain and Windows 7)

I have a critical Windows Server 2012 area with 5 computers of customers, all Windows 7 Pro.

One of the users has had his computer (laptop) off site this weekend and connected to a starbucks.  Upon return, he can connect is more and it is prompted with the following error: \\fileserver\Folder Redirection\username\Desktop is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource ".

So, here's the problem.  I can connect to any other user accounts on his laptop without a hitch.  His user name can be used to connect to other computers, even if the connection to a computer produces a logon error server is not available.

I tried flushing dns, remove the laptop network and reconnect... but I am at a loss.

    Any suggestions?

  • Problems with the 'Association' in Windows 7 files

Original title: constantly stuck in insane mode, 'Open with' file associations opens instead of the selected despite the default application

Some types of files, mainly media, refuse to open with an application and still shows the "Open with" dialog. The option "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is available and verified, but makes no difference. The next time I try to open it, I get the same dialogue again. This is my original problem.

The programs I am trying these to are foobar2000 (for audio) and Media Player Classic (for video files), respectively.

I tried many suggestions, most involving the registry, who only managed to make things worse. At present, the file associations are generally uninterrupted again (I went through a phase, where not even Explorer would start over), but there are a few things left that are quite strange.
For example, for file extensions that work (open their associated program by double clicking), the context default "Open" menu item is normally "BOLD". For me, it is no more.
Also, I normally do not use Windows Media Player. Therefore, I usually don't bother with going through the initial report set up the wizard who wants to activate the automatic recovery of the DRM keys and stuff like that. To try to solve this problem, I only skip the wizard and now all the files THAT WMP wants to associate are permanently associated with it, and double clicking for example a WAV files directly open WMP without going through the "Open with" dialog. However, when I go to the control panel applet "default programs", I find myself unable to uncheck WMP associations or partner with another application with them.
I can't go to the association of foobar2000 (my audio player of choice) and file associations "Select all", then "Save". And behold, when I return to registration after registration, it is empty again (this program a default 124 0).
Now as the mucking with the registry seems to be the way to go about these things, as evidenced by most of the advice on the internet, as well as on this site, I decided to test a theory. In HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for all types of file WMP STOLE, the (default) value was WMP11Assoc.Something. I decided to change these values to their equivalent of type foobar2000 (such as foobar2000. MP3) and Hello! Suddenly, foobar2000 has "29 of 124 by default". Surely, which should count for something.
Nope. Opening one of the 29 file types where I applied this change is that open dialogue 'Open with' once again. At least he didn't open WMP, I thank Bob for this. But again, we're back to square one. The initial problem.
Now, in an interesting case study, I invented a new type of file on the spot, which was not used for anything else. In this case, I used '.lam '. I made an empty file with this extension and set to open in Notepad. This works. But where it gets interesting is when I try to change the association then. I opened the menu popup and select 'Open with' and (arbitrarily) has decided to open it with 7 - zip, check "always use the selected program to open this type of file". But the next time I opened it, it is still open in Notepad! Closer to the irrefutable, I searched for the novel file extension using Regedit. The results of three who came were in the following keys:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\. Lam
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\. Lam
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\RecentDocs\. Lam
The first linking lam_auto_file. I deleted all three keys and the key lam_auto_file. After refreshing the Explorer, I could choose a different association, and it's stuck
! This is a solution for the types of files that are not normally associate with something else.
However, when I tried this same technique with .mp3 (noting that the association who is system wide and therefore in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT instead of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes), delete all the keys and associations, when I try to associate it with something, it won't be yet to stick. Subsequent attempts to open the file still pop up the "Open with" dialog
Normally, I can find a solution to almost any problem, an extensive search on Google, either by launching logic mixed with trial and error to her. It left me speechless. Someone has ideas, outside the usual "have you tried it turning on and off again", "have you tried super registry cleaner ultimate Xtreme ($500)", "delete system32", "Reinstall", "you have a virus", etc.. ?

    Hello

A sound solution suggests allows you to perform the following method.

Method 1: use this option to choose which programs you want Windows to use, by default.

If a program does not appear in the list, you can make the default program using set Associations.

    1. open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.

    2. click on associate a type of file or Protocol with a program.

    3. click on the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default value.

    4. click on the program of change.

    5. click on the program that you want to use by default for the selected file type, or click the arrow next to

Other programs to show other programs. (If you don't see your program, or other programs
    is not listed,

Click Browse to find the program that you want to use and then click Open

    6. click on OK

For more details follow the link below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/change-which-programs-Windows-uses-by-default

Method 2: try to create a new user account and check if you have the same problem.

    To create a user account

    1. to open user accounts, click the Start button, select Control Panel, click on accounts of users and parental controlsand then click user accounts.

    2. click on Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    3. click on create a new account.

4 type the name that you want to assign to the user account, click an account type, and then click create an account.

For more information follow the link below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

If everything works well in the new user account, then the user account may be damaged.

  • Problem with the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello

My Dell laptop came pre-installed with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit version. But there was a hardware problem, and I had to re - reinstall Windows 7 on my Dell laptop. But then, without knowing it, I installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (for which I had the key too) & began to work on it. Later, when some drivers were not installed correctly because of compatibility issues, I realized the truth.

Then I tried to update my Windows 7 Professional current operating system to Windows 7 Ultimate-operating system by using Windows Anytime Upgrade without having to re - install Windows from scratch, I have so many applications and data on my laptop now. And I used the key of Windows 7 Ultimate version I have with my Dell laptop. But the key is not be accepted by the Windows Anytime Upgrade application and the following error message is displayed:

    "Enter a different upgrade key

The upgrade key you have entered is an edition of Windows that does not work with Windows Anytime Upgrade. Enter a different upgrade key. "

Please help me in this regard to solve this problem so that I can improve my Windows 7 operating system without having to re - install from scratch.

    Thank you

    Romaric

Note: Retail 'Full' or 'Upgrade' product keys will work when you use the Express Upgrade feature.

Upgrade Express 'can' not work (check with the manufacturer of the computer support team) for users who have the OEM and system integrators or keys, this applies also to VL (Volume License), - MSDN Academic Alliance (MSDNAA) / DreamSpark or pedagogical keys that does not / do support the Anytime Upgrade option. KMS users consult your administrator before attempting to perform an Express upgrade.

The key that came with your mobile PC is an OEM key, which most likely why it fails to upgrade.

  • Problems with the time in Windows 7 (64-bit)

The time on my computer is always off.  Even when I change the time to the exact time in my bios the weather is bad in Windows.  I chose the right time zone, but it's still 6 hours off.

When I was first troubleshooting I could just sync the clock to the internet through the GUI, but after a reboot or two time, the weather was wrong, once again.  I was looking for something more permanent then I tried things like the time service restarts windows.  I followed these instructions then because this person was having a similar problem.  It was suggested to run these commands:

    net stop w32time

    w32tm /unregister

    w32tm /register

    net start w32time

    w32tm/Resync

This helped temporarily, but now I have an error the command net stop time w32t.  CMD says "the time service Windows is not started."

When I go to my services time service Windows is there but not started.  When I try to run it I get this error:

I hope this is enough information.  Thanks for the help!

    Hi EvanDinelli,

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    Note:
this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article: back up the registry in Windows 7

    a. Click Start, type regedit in the search box and then click regedit.exe in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.
    b. Locate the following registry subkey and click on it:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TapiSrv

    (c) in the part of details, right-click ImagePath and then click on edit.

    d. in the value data box, type the following registry value, and then click OK:
    %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe k NetworkService

Note if NetworkService does not appear in the registry %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost.exe - k NetworkService value, the problem that is described in the "Symptoms" section may occur.
    e. exit the registry editor and then restart the computer.
    Note
if you try to start the telephony service before you restart the computer, you may receive the following error message:

Error 1290: Starting the service failed because one or more services in the same process have a service SID inconsistent type parameter. A service with service restricted SID type can only coexist in the same process with other services with a restricted SID type. If the type of SID for this service has been configured, you must restart the hosting process in order to start this service.

    Hi Aubin,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand that you receive this error message during the installation of Windows 8 and I'll be happy to answer your query. Let me ask you;

    1. How you try to install Windows 8?
    2. You have the installation media (DVD/USB)?
    3. Why the type of installation you are performing?
    4. Why do you want to install Windows 8?
    5. What operating system is installed on the computer currently?

According to the guidelines of the error, it seems that you are trying to refresh or Reset. However, since you get this error, it appears that you do not support installation to complete the process.

You can create the installation media for Windows 8 with the following steps:

    1. When you are prompted to run or save the file, choose run

    2. When you are prompted to enter a product key, enter the 25-character product key, that you received when you purchased Windows 8.

    3. When you are prompted to install Windows 8, select install by creating media and then click Next.

    4. Select the type of media you want to use: either a Flash DRIVE or a DVD.

To create a USB flash drive

    1. Click on the USB flash drive.

    2. Plug the USB key into a USB port on your PC.

    3. When you are prompted, select the USB key that you want to use, and then click Next.

If you have files on the USB flash drive, it will remove them.

    To create a DVD

    1. Click on the ISO file , and then select the location where to save the ISO file.

    2. Insert a blank recordable DVD into your DVD drive.

    3. Burn the ISO of the DVD file using Windows disc Image burner, or another program DVD burning.

Important: If you have any Windows 8 product key, you cannot create installation media. Make this DVD or USB flash drive that you use has nothing else stored on it and has a sufficient free space to download the Windows 8 Setup: approximately 1.8 GB for the 32-bit version and about 2.3 GB for the 64-bit version.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Problems with the help of Windows 8 Mail

    Hello.

I encountered some problems with Windows 8 Mail that I hope you can help:

    I configured the other IMAP email accounts on my Windows 8 Mail. But facing problems with it;

    (1) emails took very long to cool. Also I'm unable to delete e-mails. As soon as I delete a message, it appears again and gives an error - Email is not available

    (2) cannot create new folders. Gives an error - the action I'm doing may not be completed.

    (3) I am also unable to save an Email Signature with links. It won't let me save a plain text signature.

Y at - it a setting that I missed? I thought that the option of e-mail with Windows 8 has been very effective, that's why I chose to merge my other accounts work for this.

    Help, please. Thank you

The Mail app can not handle the mail POP and is limited to Basic for IMAP mail functions. Use the post office to work. You'll have more control and features.

  • I now have a problem with the update for Windows Live Essentials 2011

I don't understand how it happened, but maybe someone could enlighten me?

First of all, I was informed of an update for Microsoft Security Essentials. So of course, I did the update because I didn't want to be protected.

I don't know if this is related somehow. I think that my update understood also as a Windows Live Essentials package. When I checked my e-mail and instant messaging, I noticed that the format has changed, and now, I think it's the new WLM 2011.

It may seem very nice and put up-to-date, but it caused a series of serious problems for me. Let me explain:

First of all, I must clarify that I am disabled and use the speech recognition, Windows speech recognition Dragon NaturallySpeaking both, because I can't use my hands.

In the original WLM before the update, if I were using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, I was able to dictate with great ease and had no problem. If I wanted to then send the email I would say just 'send' and e-mail would go. With WLM 2011, if I say that now, it does not work.

It's just a problem that I have. The next problem is much larger. In some cases, Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition will not work and I can't dictate anything. I then have to close WLM completely and then open it again. Then only, it'll work. This happens many times and it's very frustrating, as you can imagine for someone like me.

Forgive me for saying, it may seem very well with all the new bells and whistles there, but it makes my life a misery at the moment. In my view, there are a lot of bugs that need to be sorted out first with her.

My question is, can I go back to the original WLM somehow until the update meets my needs? Can I go back to the status quo when WLM 2010 worked well with speech recognition for me?

If so, can someone tell me how to do what you please?

If not, then how am I supposed to use these features now?

    Thank you
