• 3 laptops different ALL been facing intermittent problems with the USB ports.

  We have 3 laptops at home, running 3 different versions of winsows 7... Home, Professional and Ultimate. They have in recent months ALL given intermittent problems with the USB ports. A device that worked on a port stops working. It may or may not work on another port. A week later it could very well lead again on the port that wouldn't work. This applies to all types of devices.

  Have you tried to reinstall the USB drivers? As in, uninstall via the Device Manager, restart your PC and allowing Windows to reinstall?

• Problem with the serial port and external DLL

  I have a Platinum (innco systems CT 0500), which is connected via a USB-RS232 to PC Converter. I want to fight in LabVIEW.

  The software CD contains a DLL and a header file - I imported both in LabVIEW.

  But I am unable to get a connection via LabVIEW COM port. There is an error of the adage about function ConnectTurntable() return code 'could not open port - port address is unknown to the PC or port is used by another program.

• Display problems with the Portege R600 and Win 7

  I have a R600 running windows 7, every two minutes, I have a display problem where where the vertical pixels seem to get every centimeter unaligned, so my screen seems to blur digital in bars across it.

  I have an external monitor attached and get the same problem with or without him. I have tired the driver of toshiba and intel driver.

  It seems to go away if I have windows min and max, but sometimes it doesn't. If I run my mouse an affected area, that it seems in trouble and sometimes it's not all screen.

• Automatic update because of problems with the USB ports.

  After an automatic update this morning at 03:00 October 15, 2010 for windows vista, all my USB ports on my laptop have stopped working. Please advice all solutions to locate the update caused the problem.

  This must be a different problem from what I had so...

  In any case, I uninstalled all updates on vista (as opposed to other programs, office, outlook, etc.) and then reinstalled again and everything works fine now... go figure: /.

  Paul Merci much.  You know what I did?  Well, I went to Dev man and looked at the properties of its clicked on update driver card and found a driver Realtec and that fixes the problem.  Works fine now.  Yet once again I can't thank you enough your time a review on this issue.  Don't know if I'll have more questions, but I'll definitely stay here if I do.   ::) Paul

• Satellite M30: Cannot use COM with the Modem port

  I have a satellite m30. I have problems with the com port to use with the modem. I get an error code saying 12 resources etc. There is no i/o or IRQ conflict IRQ 04 and e/s beach is 03F8 - 03FF. I tried to uninstall various things to free resources, but still the same error.

  Sorry should add - it's like nothing is plugged at all when it is, and it happens on two USB ports, not just one...
