Problem with the ram upgrade.

I have a laptop DV4-5100 and I received the new ram for it, but there is no way for me access to the ram compartment, apparently there is no screws or anything to open. So exactly how am I suppose to upgrade ram?

You should be able to drag the yellow locks for the compartments and remove the panels.

  • 13 - a071ng: problems with the RAM upgrade - where is the crack?

    Hey there,

so today I got my new x 360 a071ng HP. I wanted to upgrade my RAM from the standard 4GBs to 8GBs and replace the HDD with a SSD.

Replace the HARD drive has been frank and I have not encountered any problems. But there is a problem: I can't find the slot of the RAM.

The HP website is not saying something about a RAM memory that can be removed and nor does the Crucial site that actually says that there are two available slots.

-Is anyone can help me? Is it hidden somewhere? Perhaps under the motherboard or the battery? Or is the site condition information simply false and there is no way to upgrade the RAM?

    Best of the Austria,

    Jannis

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

See Page 49. Memory access requires the removal of the motherboard I hate to say but if you on the hard drive, you were close. Just pay attention that HP will not honor the warranty if you damage the laptop in the process. Good luck and post if you have any other questions.

Before we go much further in troubleshooting - maybe you can prevent future question by answering a few questions (and think of them...)

What is the brand and model of the computer system in question?

The amount of memory (live RAM) system there?

How much space (total and free) hard disk is the system have to 'C '?

You have the key media and product installation of Windows XP stored in a safe place (turn off the computer itself) right now?

You have the installation media for everything that you have installed on this computer stored in a safe place (turn off the computer itself) right now?

You produced all keys or serial numbers, you may need to install the software you own / have installed now keep in a safe place (turn off the computer itself), at the moment?

Have you checked with the manufacturer of the computer (or individual component manufacturers) that they take over the computer (or the individual components - such as the video card, sound card, network devices, etc. inside the computer) Windows 8 and they have device drivers that will allow the Windows 8 operating system properly to communicate and use said components?

Did you check with the manufacturers of software for each software (programs), you have only installed the current version of their software work (or one you have / use would be wise to check on) Windows 8, and they support their software under the said operating system?

You have a backup of everything on the machine that is important to you - such as your emails, contacts, documents, spreadsheets, photos, drawings, your data, your music, your videos, you Internet favorites/bookmarks and everything else the stuff you've collected on this computer over time that you used it?

I ask this because you are about to perform a NEW installation (format, departure fees, etc.) on the machine in question.  You will need to install all the programs that are now in place and work as he was never on this system.  If it turns out that the machine is unbearable (for some reason-including speed, or simply don't like Windows 8) you will need a way to format it again and install the original (Windows XP) operating system and all the programs back.  And, of course, you probably want your stuff back also.

I tried to download the wizard upgrade of windows 8, but when I try to run it, it comes back with a message: "this platform is not supported.
It will not open the upgrade wizard more far to tell me more information.
I have a desktop computer running Windows XP home edition SP3, and I want to see if I can move to windows 8. If my computer is not compatible, I would like to know what I have to do (more RAM, etc) to be able to upgrade. As far as I know that I use a 32-bit system, with 500 GB hard drive, processor clocked at 1.67 GHz and 1 GB of RAM.
Anyone know if I can get the upgrade wizard runs successfully, or if there is another way to know if my system run windows 8 without spending hundreds on a software package may not work?

  • Problems with the Express upgrade and an upgrade key

Before I've had my laptop, I have purcahsed a Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade disks and Windows 7 Professional. I used the ultimate update on my desk and I try to use the Professional on my laptop (which came with home premium).

The problem is that I now have a "non-genuine" copy of Windows 7 because every time the upgrade does not accept my upgrade key. I understand that they are updated slightly different, but anyway that I actually purchased is more expensive than the anytime upgrade. How to make this work?

Laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium. I used the Express upgrade to upgrade Windows Professional. Now activate Windows asks me to activate Win7 professional and will not accept the key that came with my Windows 7 Professional upgrade disks. The Activation Assistant says that I don't have the OS to use this key. The online troubleshooting guide says that such an error would occur if I am trying to use the upgraded edition to do a clean install (for example).

I don't understand, how were you able to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional in the first place through Windows Anytime Upgrade? You have been invited to enter your key first. Windows 7 Home Premium license that you upgraded was activated before the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional through Windows Anytime Upgrade?

    Try the following:

Click Start, right click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link to change your product key

Enter your product key and use the phone Activation to activate your license. Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

  • I have a problem with the RAM

I was having 2 GB of ram, after I added more than 2 GB, but windows use 2.94 GB what can I do to use all the memory? I have Windows 8 Pro x 64 bit (sorry for my English)

    Hello NicusorStoian,

As I understand it, you initially have 2 GB of RAM then you added another 2 GB of RAM. Currently, you have a total of 4 GB of RAM. Your computer is currently using 2.94 RAM (more or less) of 4 GB. However, your question should be the opposite, don't use any memory because if the use of RAM reached the highest usage, you can expect your computer to delay or slow but if you want to try to use all available memory, simply open programs as much as you want

    Hope this helps ;)

Well, it seems that I have a problem with my ram upgrade. My system came with 2 GB of ram, and I had to upgrade (with another 2 GB), I am using programms like autoCAD, 3dsmax, photoshop, etc who have special needs on the RAM. Here's the problem; While the bios memory being recognized (4096 MB), what the task manager of the total physical memory is only 2046 MB! I also did the update to the BIOS, but it didn't work. The new memory I plugged in has the same features with one installed. The only difference is the manufacturer, the new is Kingston.

    Here are the characteristics of my system;

Operating system installed: Windows Vista 32-bit

Product name and number: HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030ev

    • Motherboard: Quanta 3624 intel PM45 (supports up to 8 GB of ram)

I also mention, I tried the only Kingston on a Slot and the system worked without any problems...

I would be so grateful if you could help...

    Thank you in advance,

    Hi, Nick:

One of our experts at the top of the forum (DavidPK) page suggested that you look at this solution to the question of memory you meet...

    I quote David:

"In the system startup tab Configuration screen, the Advanced Options, it proved that there is a check mark in the maximum memory box.  Once removed and the applied change, Windows recognized all the Ram (less the reserved) after the reboot. »

If please give than to try and post back and let us know if that frees a memory system for you.

I don't know about other issues. There are always 'problems' with any upgrade. You weigh against the benefits. I know that you need more RAM. At least 4 GB, maybe more if you can. Don't forget that this system is produced at a time when most of the machines have + 8 GB RAM and when Apple said 'minimum' they really mean it.  I recently inherited a MacBook that has 2 GB of RAM and the Mavericks. When I checked the memory, the use of the system was using 1.95 GB = nothing to run applications!

I have a strange problem with my RAM supported by installers. When I check the activity monitor, 3 installers are open and they start around 80 MB memory RAM used for about 7 or 8 concerts after 10 minutes. I have to force them to quit, but I don't know what I am closing or why they open in the first place. Applications downloaded on iTunes?

In addition, the Console has opened with the same message several times, but I don't know what that means.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

The last is a picture of the Terminal window.

Just because it lists 'Console' does not mean that it has nothing to do with this application.

You have not said why or what you're trying to install so I can't help with that.

You can use the activity monitor to leave their.

After you select an item, use the X in a type of stop sign icon and confirm force quit.

  • HP pavilion dv6-2150us: problems with the upgrade of processor for an i7-720qm on a hp pavilion dv6-2150us

    Hi all

My friend recently bought an i7-720qm processor used to upgrade hp pavilion dv6 2 1 5 0 US and I

summer giving a helping hand by making the upgrade.

Since the 10 Windows running Google Chrome used up to 70% of the processing of an i3 - 330 m power

processor, it seemed to be good upgrade to improve the performance of the laptop.

We checked that the new i7 processor is compatible with the laptop (it is listed as supported by the)

( interview guide , page 108), and the seller assured us he tested the CPU on some different

HP pavilion and it worked fine.

But when I replaced the processor with the i7 processor i3 and tried to boot up the laptop, only the LED lights

on the front and the setting of the power and volume buttons would light up periodically. The screen was black

    All the time.

Thinking I might have made a mistake during the reassembly of the laptop I put the original i3 processor back in

    and it starts fine.

I updated the BIOS of the F.1C version I found on the internet and once replaced the i3 with the i7 with the

same results - display off, flashes periodically LEDs. The BIOS updated smoothly, and the correct version is displayed in the main menu of the BIOS.

I am confused on what could be the problem with the upgrade, everything should work. Is there a BIOS update I have

    missed, or the problem elsewhere?

Disassembly and reassembly are made with care, and we took care to avoid static electricity. All the rest

on the laptop works well - I am writing this post on the laptop in question with the original i3 processor in place.

Any help, advice or general guidelines as to what should be done would be really appreciated.

    Thank you for your attention.

In other words, you cannot install a quad core processor in a Board that originally had a dual core processor and vice versa.
