  I have persistent problems with my Magic Mouse.   I know this is an old thread, but I can see nowear where the problem has been resolved.  I have a Logitech wireless mouse on my laptop and a thread on my desk, both had the same problem. The problem has been solved for me using just a mouse pad, no problem since! This answer may be there somewhere but I didn't fall on it even from Microsoft (surprise). Incidentally, my mousepad is often a sheet of A4 paper on a clip board. If someone actually reads this please let me know if it was any help.
