Problem with Wireless G PCI adapter (WMP54GS-RM) and Windows 2000

I'm having problems to install the above wireless adapter in a desktop computer HP EVO D510 running Windows 2000 Pro.

As stated, I launched the installer using the supplied CD and reached the point where the PC asks permission to stop so that the adapter can be inserted into the PCI slot. I grant permission, and after stops in the PC, I install the card. When the PC restarts, the installation software does not reopen. This is reflected by the unit Mgr reports that I have a working driver, but I don't have an Internet connection. I discovered looking at the Bishop of events that the service that accompanies this adapter is unable to start.  When I manually try to start, told me that Windows 'failed to start WMP54GSSVC service on Local computer. Error 127. The specified procedure could not be found. "I suspect that this occurs because the installation program does not end after the reboot, but do not know that for some.

I would add that I downloaded the latest driver and it seems to be identical to what I have on CD. For the heck of it, I uninstalled the software I loaded from the CD and used the software on the web only to get the same result.

I'm close to throwing in the towel. I have ideas that could prevent me from giving up.

Ron

Windows 2000 has all updates including Service Pack 4. The adapter was properly seeded.

The problem turns out to be not not one but two things.

Outpost Firewall is configured to allow the launch software correctly, but even with this, the executable associated with the system tray Monitor would not and still will not work as a service Windows in W2K. He didn't even start a service manually without triggering the error message (see my first post). I discovered, however, that the executable will run - not as a service but normally - if run during startup.  After experimenting with launch from a batch file added to my startup folder, I finally decided to use WinPatrol to launch the program as the latest app loaded during startup.  He loads evenly using of workaround and gets me to the internet.

  • Wmp54g - Wireless-G PCI Adapter - Local access only - why?

Management of Linksys, I replaced one of the adapters Wireless USB model with this model (WMP54G - Wireless-G PCI Adapter).  While the USB model has been able to get on the internet, but by dint of low signal at slow speed resulting - this unit has a sound intense but failed to get on the internet.  (Well, actually I managed to make it work once or twice but it still does not work.)

    I am running Vista.

I get a green line of my local network computer in network and sharing Center, then a black line with a RED X between my local network and internet.

I'm unable to access Web sites on the internet.

I was on the phone with LinkSys support for hours.  They were not able to make the situation better.  Anyone has any ideas, what happens?

It seems that we have found the solution to this problem.

The engineer last I talked to Linksys suspects that the problem had to do with the Linksys and Vista software both trying to control the device.

(As a side how many times have you had to happen?)  If you're like me this is not the first - one might think, the manufacturers and Microsoft could get this sorted out once and for all and have a duration of commitment for their respective products).

Unfortunately, the steps to follow recommended action was to open the programs installed on the computer, look for the Linksys program via the control panel and remove it.

Then restart the machine.  After startup, the machine, reports that it has detected a hardware without a driver.

Insert the CD into the drive and have Vista, find the driver and install it.

She does without having to install the full program of Linksys.

It has now worked two days and seems to have solved the problem.

He too far too many calls (8) including 50% of them being stripped of Linksys to get to this answer and several days, but unfortunately we seem to have solved.

  • E4200 w 2 - re1000 and still have problems with wireless coverage

I have a big enough House, 4500 square feet, and there a lot of bricks and stucko.  I wired ethernet ports in most of the rooms.

For my Apple TV and tower PC, PS3, I used a wired connections.

But we have a lot of devices without wireless, 4 laptops and 3 iphones, 3 ipads so good wireless coverage is a must.  I'm not looking for a budget solution, just the best solution that I can.  I also have a wireless baby monitor and an ATT Wireless TV receiver.  I have no end of problems with wireless on my devices.

Without a lot of research I boght a couple re1000 thought that would be the solution to my problem, but they don't really work as well as I would like.  I wish I had done my research as I think that the right solution is to have the other AP in the connection from the House to a 'hand' AP via wired connection (connection wired bridge mode?).  I could adjust only force and channel to maximize coverage for the House.

Here is what is a must:

    One SSID in the House

Everything must be on the same network.  I have a wired camera Foscam and use the features of the homegroup in windows.

Taking as a basis the e4200, what other should AP I buy to connect to the main via a wired connection?

I don't know how to close your home is to other houses, so I don't know if you might encounter interference from 2.4 ghz to your neighbors or other sources.

I see that WAP610 is not simultaneous... only selectable.  iPhones are only 2.4 ghz

Whatever it is, you can keep the same SSID for your entire network, but you may need to use different wireless channels.  Everything meets your criteria above.

The only unknown is your neighbors (and other sources) Wireless interference.

You can download inSSIDer, which will give you a better idea of what you're against, but it is not infallible.

  • the problem with the wi - fi does not work on windows 8.1

Hello dear forum users (sorry for the English, use a translator)

    I have a laptop HP Pavilion dv6-7055er, 8.1 Windows 64-bit

Card Broadcom WiFi 802.11b/g/n 1 x 1 4313GN worked on windows 7, but fails on windows 8.1. Tried to find the driver on the broadcom , but not found. Device Manager indicates that the problem with a PCI device. Specifies no problems with the Wi - Fi adapter.

What could be the cause and how to fix it? Thank you!

It seems that your WIFI adapter is not supported by Windows 8.1

There are a few options available.

The first and simplest is to purchase a USB wifi adapter to plug into one of the USB ports on the laptop. I have a dual ASUS USB-AC56 band that meets the 802.11ac specification.

The second option will be to take a look at the installed optional wifi adapters to see if they have Windows 8.1 supports, buy one to replace the Broadcom card installed with.

Ok. The two following adapters are compatible with your laptop and Windows 8.1. They have a BIOS support.

    The Qualcomm Atheros AR9485

The Intel Centrino Advanced - N 6230 WLAN module

  • Problem with El Captain (5.1.7 server) and the management of permissions

    Hello world

I have a big problem with our Mac Mini Server (El Captain) and the server program.

In recent weeks, the server didn't give the permissions of a folder.

    for example:

Mr. X had permission to read and write to a folder.
    Mr Y too.

Mr. X has create a new folder one record something in it.

Mr Y had the permission to read or write to the folder create Mr. x. But he should have.

    Or

Mr. X has save a file to a folder

When he opens it again it is write protected and cannot be replaced.

So you have to save under a different name in the same folder.

And every time he save/close the file.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

    Thank you

    Greetings from the Germany

    Chris

    My guess:

A few weeks ago someone messed with the permissions on your server and made a mistake. So, you got an inappropriate list ACL (Access Control), which is rampant in the file and must be removed or fixed.

This phenomenon was linked to your video driver (atikmpag.sys) /DirectX.  I would completely remove the current driver and install the latest driver available.
