Problem with Y550 Wireless: Wireless button does nothing

Got this Y550 (used), a few days ago. When I got there, the wifi worked well. Then it stopped working, I reinstalled Windows 7 (Lenovo recovery CD), then every time I turn on the wireless button, it just does nothing. No wifi signal, it's like a dummy button. Here's what I've tried so far:

1) updated the driver and BIOS (Intel Wifi link 5100 AGN)

(2) for configuration towards the top of my network and sharing Center, and whenever I tried troubleshooting, it says 'enable wireless function '.

It's as if everything doesn't work anymore. The laptop says stil it's under warranty, but I don't know if I can do anything with the guarantee (second user).

My other lenovo G550 has the same problem. But it is always connected to the wired router, but still, I would like to know what is the problem and how to fix them. I searched the forum for Y550 wireless problem, but has not really helped. Should I change the wireless card, on each of them? Thanks in advance

    Hi Mark,

Please contact technical support group of the manufacturer of your computer and/or forum with the specific brand, model and serial number or service of your computer code (phone, chat, email, articles, knowledge bases, guides the user manuals, forums, troubleshooting guidelines,...).

It would have really helped to know the manufacturer, brand or specific model (not only the family of models but the exact model) of the computer that you're talking about (as well as the operating system.  Without that, I can only provide the following search options which are certainly generic but can help or you can modify as appropriate to better target your situation (including the specific computer model or something else):

    http://www.Bing.com/search?q=Wireless+Button+not+Working&QS=n&Form=QBRE&PQ=Wireless+Button+not+Working&SC=5-27&SP=-1&SK=

    http://www.bing.com/search?q=how+to+enable+wireless+button&form=O1FD2

    http://www.Bing.com/search?q=How+to+Bypass+Wireless+Button&QS=n&Form=QBRE&PQ=How+to+Bypass+Wireless+Button&SC=0-29&SP=-1&SK=

Another option would be to check that the wireless works for other devices (the possibility that the problem is the router rather than on the computer) or with the laptop (so) at a kiosk computer to see if you can connect (which suggests a problem with the router or the configuration of your network as opposed to the computer or the button).

You can also try to set up a new wireless connection on the computer and see if it works better.

The out rule, I would update the networking and device manufacturer keyboard drivers to see if that solves the problem (and it may not hurt to get the updates anyway).

I've never used a computer with a key/button, so I don't know where to look.  Instinctively, I would try to control panel / Device Manager to see if there are any problems detected it (red circles, triangles yellow, white points mark) and see if you can find the associated devices and confirm that they say they work very well without any problem, then check the network configuration and control center for options.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community!

You can't use the wireless connection and the message that the DNS server is not responding.

The problem may occur if the computer is unable to connect to the DNS server.

To check, I suggest you follow the steps:

    Method 1: Re-register the DNS

    a. Click Start. Type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

It will display the message properly emptied the cache of DNS resolution.

    c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

    d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

ipconfig/all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
The command ipconfig/all command displays for all your network adapters, TCP/IP in Windows settings.

If your IP address of your Local network connection is 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is a number any), then your computer does not receive an IP address from router.
If this is the case, try this:

    i. enough at the command prompt ipconfig and press ENTER

II. ipconfig / renew in command prompt and press ENTER

The test again by typing ipconfig/all to see what is the address? (If you are on a router, it should start by or 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x 10.x.x.x)

    Method 2:

    a. click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. go to the networking and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.

    c. right-click on connection to the Local network and select Properties.

    d. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.

    e. choose the DNS server to obtain an address automatically , then press Ok.

    f. Select obtain IP address automatically.

    g. Repeat steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well.

  • I started having problems with the wireless mouse and the carpet of my laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad T420 mouse.

Original title: right click on the mouse itself activating

I borrowed a USB to a person at work and I started having problems with the wireless mouse and the carpet of my laptop - Lenovo ThinkPad T420 mouse. The left click of two devices works normally, however, sometimes she does not respond to clicks and it takes a few seconds to work. The left button was constantly starts to turn on, as if he was stuck. After that I hit Alt + Tab and modify windows it stops for a few moments and starts at a later date. I havo not found a specific condition or a combination of keys that may trigger the fault.

I read a few posts on discussion forums, but all say that it could be a hardware problem, which I think is not, because both devices have the same problem and I'm sure it all started with the insertion of the borrowed memory stick. I scanned the readers to help Symantec's EndPoint Protection and installed Microsoft Security Essentials and performed a full scan, but found nothing. I even restored the system, but the problem remains.

Should I get a different antivirus? How can I find the cause so I can find a better targeted solution?

Try to install the drivers from this link and check.

  • Satellite Pro L500 - wireless button does not work

I have problem with my wireless switch. Take a look at this [photo: http://bildr.no/view/591716]. It is said "bryterstatus: pa ' which is translated (badly) to" change status: on»

Although, when I press Fn + F8, nothing happens. All the other 'random' shortcuts button + FN keyboard works well. In other words, I can not connect to my wireless. I know it works because I can connect with my iPhone. There is also nothing wrong with the connection, I tried Michael / active on and outside. Tried to restart my laptop. I even downloaded the new drivers. Nothing seems to work. How can I activate the switch?

    Best regards

    Hello Miguel

Your laptop factory settings or you changed something?
Have you installed the own operating system or laptop has always original operating system preinstalled?
Wireless network adapter installed and listed correctly in the Device Manager?

Use of WLAN is so simple, and by default, it should work correctly. The same principle is on all laptops from Toshiba even. When you want to use the WLAN you move WLAN switch in position ONE and use the FN + F8 key combination to activate the wireless network card. All that s.

What you can try is to reinstall the additional package of value?

  • 4320 proBook s - problems with the wireless Assistant

    Hello

I have my ProBook s 4320 for about half a year now. For most of the year the half I had problems with the wireless assistant - it seems that when I start my laptop it takes about 5 to 10 minutes before the work of the internet. I never changed any settings in the wireless assistant.

Nobody does face these same questions and no one knows how the internet starts immediately when I start my laptop? I tried this on different places with different wireless modems, but everywhere, it's the same thing and books of other people can use internet immediately.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    You are welcome to help

The fact that it connects properly in Mode safe indicates that the driver who normally starts with Windows or a program is causing the problem - most likely candidate is to begin by F-Secure.

Before attempting the following procedure, make sure that you have an installation of F-Secure program, so you can re - install this software, and also a license key necessary to activate it.

Then, from the windows control panel. Open programs and features, click on the entry for F-Secure once to highlight, and then click the option to uninstall at the top of the window.  Once done, restart the laptop.

Again, when windows restarts, check the internet connection by using only a known secure site.

Let me know how this affects the problem.

    Kind regards

  • I have a problem with the wireless network card.

    Hello

I use a laptop Medion MIM 2210 and I have a problem with my wireless network adapter.

I get a message before Windows 7 starts telling me that there is problem with a wireless driver. The exact message says:

    "Intel UNDI, PXE - Z.0 (build 082)

    Copyright (C) 1997,1998,1999 Intel Corporation

VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter v2.43 (2005/12/15)

PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable of

"PXE - MOF: exit Inel PXE ROM.

This message appears every time you start and I don't know what he means by "Media Test Failure".

I turned on my laptop today and noticed I had no internet connection, it showed that it connected but with yellow '!' symbol indicating that it was not fully connected. He did this for a while now and I have reinstalled Windows, in safe mode and I tried to delete the drivers and re - install, but it hangs right on uninstall what makes me angry no the case.

Of course now, I tried to look for help my internet connection is running but the message is still there. Can someone tell me what to do or how to solve this problem, I am standing now on what to do. I was also on the drivers Medion website but it is impossible to navigate around and drivers without end there'e to choose. I would consider ringing them and asking them if they were not located in Germany as it would cost me a bomb! I did just now searching online via the Device Manager to see if he can find an update for the drivers but nothing came.

Thanks for any help that anyone can offer :)

The message is to be cause the BIOS looking for boot from LAN (not wireless) before it starts and then from the hard drive. The Media test failure is because to boot from LAN it tests to see if the wired Ethernet is connected, it is not if it generates the error message.

Enter the BIOS press F2 after initial power on but before the Logo Windows shows

Integrated devices should allow you to set the settings of wired network adapter. According to the BIOS it is either "enabled with PXE" or have another option to enable or disable the boot ROM

In the boot options the LAN card should be removed altogether.

This message is ONLY applicable to the transfer of the BIOS boot process and should have no impact on the problems of WiFi (it is not on WiFi)

A look at the "front" face, under the lip of the keyboard, similar to where a lock would be on a laptop. There is here a cursor that is not a lock, but it is a switch that activates / deactivates him wireless on and outside. Slide it on until it turns on the light above it (with the logo of the antenna), indicating wireless is turned on and drag it again to turn it off.
