Problem writing external file on the disk mounted outdoors in Windows

People,

I have a strange problem with a simple OWB mapping where I am dumping the contents of a table to an external file.
The versions are OWB v 11.2.0.2 64 - bit on Oracle RDBMS 11.2.0.2 2007 Windows 64 - bit Enterprise Server.

When the external files module is connected to a place that point to a local drive and directory on the OWB server, everything works fine - files are created and written.
When the external files module is connected to a location that points to a disk mounted on another Enterprise 2007 64-bit Windows Server, I get + "path not valid for the target file, check if the connector is deployed correctly. +

The "File System Path location" in OWB is set to "N" (no slash anyway). ' ' Test connection ' reports OK.

I gave the os user Oracle and "Everyone" (for good measure) all rights on the mounted disk, and I see that the package generated code uses the correct directory, and the directory path is correct on the server. The drive mounted (N :) should appear as a local disk to Oracle I see. I am able to create and delete files on the disk using a command line on the OWB/DB server.

I'm scratching my head on this one...

Hello Haakon,
try to specify the directory in OWB with UNC path (instead with a letter, as \\other-server\shared-resource of the drive).
MS Windows sessions for executed OWB mapping and where you map resource network to the drive letter is different - maybe it's a reson why you can't access the mapping file.

You close your session to the Oracle database server after network sharing the drive letter mapping?

Kind regards
Oleg

  • 'Cannot open file because the disk is not available' Mac

I recently changed the selection of Photoshop (CS6) Scratch disk to the boot drive by default to one of the other internal drives in my MacPro (OS 10.6.8).

When I restart Photoshop (CS6) I get the message:

"Cannot open file because the disk is not available"

    and Photoshop will not start.

I then restart Photoshop with 'Control - alt - shift' keys

    (suggestion to <http://forums.adobe.com/message/3937003>)

and reset preferences that allows Photoshop to return.

(Reset preferences returned the boot drive to drive work status.)

I have an another MacPro, the - same 10.6.8 OS and Adobe CS6 - and I don't have this problem of allocation of work disk.

What happens with a MacPro which prevents me from selecting one drive other than the boot drive working Photoshop

Probably a permission problem.  Run the Apple disk utility to repair permissions.  If this does not work the glance to the non bootable drive and check "Ignore permissions..."  Open the window Info Finder and it came inside.

When you try to move an image to a folder, whatever that means - "this will cause the file on the disk to remove. If you continue, this movement or any changes you made before it can be canceled?

I saw wording like this before, and I don't think it's anything to worry about. I don't know why Adobe chose these specific words, that your changes are certainly editable after the move.

  • preloading external files in the cache of the drive? (title 2)

I've created a portfolio with image animated buttons and navigation arrows (all clips nested).

All navigation is managed using goAndStop() in image tags. The site has lots of image content, so

to avoid downloading original swf reasonably short, I used multiple instances (renamed) separated from loading component.

I guess the loading component's graphic substitute just to type in the command loadMovie() for people like me who are inexperienced with scripts.

With a normal server and bandwidth traffic level T1 latency after click is 1-2 seconds.

Acceptable, but sometimes he gets up to 5 + seconds, which compromises the user experience (and could cost me a customer).

Y at - it a command string can I insert an image in the layer actions at the beginning of the timeline (after the progress bar) to preload all external files in the player cache after the start of the run?

It seems like a logical approach, but I couldn't find anything to reference sources from Adobe that answers this question.

    Thanks in advance

No, I didn't say that and that is not true.

It is easily achievable.  It's just not a declaration of a single line with details managed by flash.

you list all of the files you want preloaded and usually there is strategy and coding used for loading in the background when the bandwidth is not used for more immediate needs.

  • Added a link to an external file in the table of contents

I would like to be able to have a link in the table of contents in an external file (such as a pdf or doc Excel file) that can reside on the same server as the online help project, without having to add the external file to the project in a baggage file. Basically, I put in the address of the file, just as you would for a URL, but RoboHelp does not allow me to do. I can add a link of this type on a topic page, but I don't see how to do this in the table of contents. The idea is that this file could be maintained outside the project to online help, and the online help will always be a link to the most recent version (without having to update anything in the online help). Someone at - it ideas?
    Thank you!
    Lynn

Nevermind, I figured it. I just need to add the following at the beginning of the URL address...

    file://

I also need to remember that there may be no space anywhere in the folder names and file name when the link in the table of contents.

  • I have a computer that has Windows 2000 Pro, I can use the disk to upgrade to Windows XP with this OS?

I have a computer that has Windows 2000 Pro, I can use the disk to upgrade to Windows XP with this OS? It's

an old computer, but it works very well.  I want to switch to XP using the Windows upgrade disc. But

in the specifications it lists only 98, 98 Second and ME as an operating system you can upgrade.  Thanks John

Provided the specifications of the computer meets Windows XP you can switch from 2000 to XP. If it does not meet the specifications, you may upgrade the computer first or get a new one which is more cheaper today.

In addition, please note that you can only switch to Windows XP Professional. If it is a home edition you have then it will not work. You can refer to the link below on how to update your copy of Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro.

I don't think so. If you convert the .wav files, you could. Google for an MP3 to WAV converter.

Is the drive in FAT32 formatted accidentally? If so, you can only restore up to 4 GB for a single file. Try to make a TIFF sequence instead. Tip of litte - press the LZW compression checkbox in the options for a lossless compression format, this allows you to keep the path file size down.
