Problem XP or Security Essentials?

XP Home edition... I deleted the presence of all antivirus programs and malware. I downloaded Security Essentials, updated and scanned. It stops scanning at C:\windows\system32\Com\mtsadmin.tlb and will go further. I repeated the process and got the same thing. ???

  • Satellite Pro A300: Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with XP SP3 and now deleted AVG Free and installed Microsoft Security Essentialls (MSE).

The result is after installing MSE and begin my laptop cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and will not respond to the inputs of the mouse or the keyboard.

In aid of F12 to get my startup options allowed me to try the Safe Mode and last known good Configuration etc but they all show the same functionality, IE freeze when the desktop appears. XP seems to be operating in the background, for example system clock stays on time, "notice" system if its wifi singal is removed etc.

Just to make the day to try to do an OS reinstall pressing 0 to on has no effect - system just boots in XP - so I can't my recovery partition!

I have now is not a HW problem as the /kbd cursor works if I boot into a non-windows system, for example UBUNTU CD

Any suggestions welcome - such as can I download a recovery on antother PC CD and burn a recovery CD?

    Hello

I have no idea what happened after installing Microsoft Security Essentials, but it seems that you are not able to access the files on the HARD drive
I think you need to reinstall the operating system using HARD drive recovery.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58

But this would format the system partition :(

In order to save the files from the HARD drive, I recommend using / boot from a bootable floppy from Win PE.
Win PE (also called BartPE) is a thin window OS that is bootable CD and don t need to be installed on the HARD drive.

  • Problem updating MS Security Essentials 1.85.1836.0

My SP Securtiy Essentials wants me to update, it's yucky amber color and the exclamation point, but every time that I made it will be little 'search' process, stop after getting 25% (or 1 sec) and then go back to the "update" screen telling me my definitions is obsolete.

Currently I use XP pro SP3, automatic updates, and I don't know what version or the definitions that I currently have.  I hope I posted all the information needed to help me, thank you very much.

I also suggest check your date and time system and make sure it is correct.

Try to uninstall and reinstall MSE.

Make sure you have deleted an extract Anti-Virus(if any).

  • Is it possible to stop or interrupt the Microsoft Security Essentials instead of uninstall / reinstall whenever there is a problem?

I'm on my computer Toshiba Satellite phone, Windows Vista Home Premium x 86 32-bit Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5250 1.80 gh 2 GB RAM with Service Pack 2, when using windows firewall regular and Malwarebytes anti-malware.

I am trying to get into Windows Defender to remove the stuff start menu because my computer is running way to slow down. About 6 months ago I had a problem with Microsoft Security Essentials by turning and stay Orange (at risk) and say it wasn't scanning, but it has been. At the time, I was not aware that Windows Defender would be put off. Now, it seems that it is disabled automatically. There no way to disable MSE, if I try to change my start up programs in Defender, or even when I am trying to download programs, I always end up having to uninstall MSE, download the program and then reinstall MSE. It takes a long time and really makes me want to go back to AVG or even a different program. Help and faq are unclear and seem to leave a lot of information on. I left on the 'default' settings, for when something is happening, but I'm not quite sure this is the correct setting.

I need instructions in plain language, and it's really hard to find. Since I left my computer unprotected for download or try to change things, I'm afraid that something got. I just went through a clean installation due a person with remote access in my system and I lost a lot of pictures, records, etc., I'm always worried about security now and don't know if I should stay with MSE or not.  I used the care a before Scan and he had difficulty my registry keys, that having people tell me I shouldn't have let microsoft fix my computer. (this was before the clean install). It's just confused and contradictory and not enough information. Windows Defender has a 'stop', does MSE?

This is probably not the right area, but I specifically ensured that when I signed into hotmail the box 'Save password' was unchecked. I am registered on another forum, then signing in this one, he had my password registered and logged in me full?  Same thing with contacts - my old msn contacts have a way for this 'hacker' enter my computer through MSN messenger, he gave her the permission above my permission admin, so I couldn't get out. Although I asked that the old account closed a bunch of time - I guess there is still there waiting for like a year? Now I have a new email in hotmail, the clean computer, and the dang thing starts my old top loading details is on his own... - Anyway, my main concern is can I pause or stop the MSE? Can I use the Scan a care after I had no protection? and is there a place explaining MSE in regular normal verbiage with more information then what is on the help and information and download page?

    Thanks for your time,

    Nanette

  • Windows Security Essentials disabled

I had Windows Security Essentials installed and running on my computer for a couple of years or more with no problems.   The Security Essentials icon in the taskbar at the bottom of my screen. Tonight, I was looking at on the internet.  When I clicked on a link to a site found by Google (almost any site) I would be redirected to another site - usually a site saying that there is something wrong with my computer.  When I looked for the icon Security Essentials in my taskbar, what it was not there when I went to my list of programs and open Security Essentials it would start but then immediately closed.  Any thoughts on what is happening?  On what do I do?

It seems that you have inadvertently installed a browser redirection that has disabled Microsoft Security Essentials.

I use Windows 7 and Office 2007.  Microsoft Security Essentials asked me if I wanted to update the program.  The updated program was a digital signature from Microsoft.  Everything seemed to go well and when the download is complete, it asked me to restart my computer.  After the restart, Security Essentials has completely disappeared from my computer.

    Hi DavidValentine,

Check that you have removed all other anti-malware real-time products that were already installed on your PC, including free products / trial that were installed when the PC was purchased (Norton, McAfee, TM, AVG, OneCare, Malware bytes (paid), etc.).

Note: If you use more than one antivirus or antispyware program at the same time, your PC may know a decrease in performance, become unstable, or restart unexpectedly. Before you install Microsoft Security Essentials, or if you want to solve problems with Microsoft Security Essentials, including the update of issues, you must first completely remove your PC Internet security programs.

You may have to uninstall/reinstall MSE. You should be able to remove MSE of the Control Panel. Uninstall problems see:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_start/uninstalling-mse/a63b8c4b-58ed-437e-8086-fa08d80725a4

  • Problem: Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is turned off, but I am running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials.

Windows Security Center gives me a "alert" that my anti-virus is disabled.  I have Win XP Professtional and'm running Windows defender and Microsoft Security Essentials times which I recently uninstalled, restarted the computer and reinstalled more updated.  I read related security problems, but I have not found a match.  I have a screenshot of the Win Security Center Alert, but unable to attach.  It is said: ' Windows found multiple antivirus programs on this computer, but they all report that they could be updated or disabled. When it comes to antivirus software, you want one and only one installed and running on your computer.  Two or more may come into conflict with eachother and degrade performance.  I advise you to uninstall Windows defender and use soley mse.

also I strongly suggest that you avoid using "PC optimization" tools.  They can help a little, but they often do more harm than good.

  • Disabled the HTTPS option in Hotmail and problems with the Windows Firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows updates.

Original title: Windows Live Hotmail only opens a new window links e-mail composition!

I recently put my Windows Live Hotmail account to my default e-mail client in Internet Explorer 8 on my Windows XP SP3 System. Unfortunately, whenever I click on a link to e-mail on a Web page to open a new message, Hotmail tells me, "Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Hotmail right now", and a new/compose message window does not open. I disabled the HTTPS option in Hotmail, which fixed the problem. However, when I went to do a manual update of Windows, I am nailed with a Trojan horse! Apparently, the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials have been affected by turning off HTTPS in Hotmail! It's 2012, and it's terribly disappointing that Microsoft only has not ironed out all the imperfections in these services now. If anyone can give me a solution (in simple terms), I would appreciate it!

    Hi Ryan,

    1. you receive messages or error codes when you access Windows updates?

    2. what happens exactly with the Windows Firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials?
