Problems after installing Windows Service Packs 1 and 2
Satellite S1800-514. After you install Service pack 1 & 2 in Windows XP Home Edition, problems occur after the hibernation mode, USB devices are not detected more (modem, printer,...)
Windows tells me to install the new driver for BIOS. Downloaded, but when I try to install this, I get the message "Toshiba Common Modules is not installed, or you have administrator privilege.
What can I do to fix this?
Post edited by: Guyseppy
Hello
First you must install common module, after all the other drivers. The correct order is very important, because some tools or drivers need the common modules for installation.
Good bye

Original title: problem after installing Windows Service Pack 3 on Windows XP Home Media edition pc
My pc runs Windows XP Home Media edition. I installed Windows Service Pack 3 successfully, or so I thought. Whenever I turn on my pc a box opens indicating "files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions." To maintain the stability of the system. Windows must restore the original versions of these files. Install your Windows XP Professional CD2. I don't have any Windows XP Professional CD that I use the Home Media Edition. If I press Cancel repeatedly, the window disappears to return with the same information, but ask me to install Windows XP Professional CD3. How can I stop this happening?
Hello
Step 1: I suggest you perform the SFC scan on the computer and check.
SFC tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of system files by using the correct versions.
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
1. Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
2. right click on cmd in the list programs and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
3. at the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:sfc/scannow
Step 2: Also, look for error messages in the event viewer. If you find error messages after return the exact error message so that we can help you better.

Original title: cannot install Windows Service Pack 2.
I tried to install Windows Service Pack 2 and you know how when you lock your laptop, it's how he like to appear. Service pack filed to install, so now have him, he said, 'Service Pack was not installed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off computer. "I'm not going to let me at all to connect to my computer... Alls for this is restarts by itself and when it turns on, it says the same thing. I already tried to remove the battery and leaving out the laptop for a little while and then when I put the battery in and re - turn on the laptop, it says the same thing and continues to do exactly the same thing and I'm getting really aggravated and crazy. Is there anyway that I can fix it without going through a computer technician?

Service Pack 3 problems
Recently downloaded service pack 3 and cannot get into Internet Explorer 8 as 'Data Protection' will not allow. Anyone know how to fix this?
Hi Courtney,
· Are you referring to Data Execution Prevention (DEP)?
If so, check if turn off DEP support. To do this, follow these steps.
a. click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpland then click OK.
b. on the tab Advanced , under performance, click settings.
c. on the Data Execution Prevention tab, use one of the following procedures:
· Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for and then click OK.
· If the program is not in the list, click Add. Navigate to the folder Program Files , search for the executable file of the program (it will have the .exe extension) and then click Open.
For more information on DEP, see the following article.

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!
