Problems after updating the BIOS on Satellite Pro P200

I recently buy a Satellite Pro P200 running Windows Vista Business. Yesterday, I updated the BIOS to the version 1.50 supplied with the machine to 1.80 available on the Toshiba site. I double checked that I was using BIOS correct update for the Pro P200 Satellitel running Vista.

After updating the BIOS, I have now two problems:

1. whenever I start and join the office, I get an error message "record of Vista has stopped working". This problem has been identified as toshibavistaregistration.exe here: [link: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=99805]

2 Control Panel > system now shows the processor and the memory (RAM) as "not available". Execution of the diagnostic PC Toshoba tool and looking at basic information show also no information on the memory (RAM) Although the processor information here. There may be pieces others missing too under the eyes of list shorter than before the update of the BIOS.

Basically, I want to get everything working again as it should, but cannot find any information on these issues.

After further review, it appears that the update of the BIOS is not the cause of the problems.

Immediately after updating the BIOS, I had a major system crash. It turns out that this is what has caused problems.

After a system restore to a point before the update of the BIOS and the major system crash, now everything is working again with BIOS version 1.8 in place.

  • Behavior of cooling after only the BIOS Flash - Satellite Pro A300

    Hello everyone,

I have two laptop computers, Satellite Pro A300 Satellite A300. Both have the same configuration, C2D E8300 2 GB, ATI 3650 512 MB and so on...

Today I flashed BIOS to the latest version (from V3.90 to V4.20) on both of them. Version 3.90 cooling was OK, fan worked only when it was necessary. But now after that flashing the BIOS fan runs constantly, he does not stop.

What I did in Vista under Toshiba Power Saver Power Options, I changed the cooling method of maximum Performance to optimised battery, reverse cooling operation, but coverage (keyboard area) has become a bit warmer.

My question is, what is the problem with cooling in the new version (v4.20)? And how to fix this?
Yet once again, the problem did not exist before flashing the BIOS and the problem is on both computers.

Thank you very much for your help!

    Best regards
    Osman

    > What I did in Vista under Toshiba Power Saver Power Options, I changed the cooling method of maximum Performance to optimised battery, reverse cooling operation, but coverage (keyboard area) has become a bit warmer.

I doubt that there could be something wrong, I want to say that you said that after changing the method in cooling Toshiba Power Saver, the fans don't run all the time
Usually the cooling modules are controlled by energy savings and the BIOS contains only the table fan.

Keyboard of my laptop or on the left side of the laptop becomes too hot because on this side, you find the cooling modules that blow hot air

    Nothing so unusual...

  • Installation problems after upgrade the HDD on Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E)

    Hello

I've recently updated my Satellite Pro A120 with more memory and a larger hard drive. The memory I installed is 2 x 1 GB Module (DDR2-667) and the product number of the hard drive is MK2035GSS.

My computer recognizes both of these upgradges, but since their installation I was able to install all applications (for example Norton Security etc) on my laptop - they seem to spend 1/2 to 3/4 of the way in which the installation process and then just quit smoking and become insensitive or an error message appears. I even tried to put the product recovery disc to try and erase everything and start over but even that does not load in entirely. Any ideas of what could be the cause? Also, I get messages of constant error on the screen and it blue screens and restarts frequently.

If anyone has any ideas on what could be the cause, I would be extremely grateful for any help!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

just a question, than to the manufacturer that are the memory modules? And similar modules? Or do you have that you have installed other modules later.
We can exclude the HARD drive because it doesn´t HARD drive installed. they do not cause bluescreens or similar. In very rare cases, the disk HARD COULD cause errors, but then the pladder or BSOD´s must be REALLY damaged and in your case, the HARD drive is brand new.

It might be, that memory modules are not compatible with your machine. To avoid these incompatibility issues, you must use the modules of well-known such as kingston and toshiba brands. (I'd rather kingston, they work like a charm in my A100 Sat :))

Would appreciate comments on your part.

  • The update of the BIOS on Satellite Pro U400?

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 (PSU41E) running Windows 7 x 64 and I try to update the BIOS to version 4.70 to 4.00.

Whenever I try to do it from Windows using WinPhlash which comes with the download on the Toshiba site it seems to freeze when you try to Flash the new BIOS.
I connected as the local administrator, tried to use other programs flash and even tried to do from a USB flash drive with no luck.

Can someone please help me and explain how do I update the BIOS?

    Hello

    > tried to use other flash programs
Never use other flash programs! In the worst case, you could damage the ROM module and then it must be replaced. Use only the program flash Toshiba that is tested and designed for laptop and the version of the BIOS.

The update of the BIOS program is also designed for Windows, it s a Windows Update program.

Satellite Pro U400 wasn t comes with Windows 7 so I guess you did your own installation. Value added package is required for the update of the BIOS program and can be downloaded on the European driver of Toshiba download page where is your laptop model:

    Hello

The BIOS 3, 50-VICTORY on the Toshiba page is OS independent.
I guess that the XP and Vista OS are available for this unit, so that the update should work on both s BONES.
By the way; You should check the Description of the Toshiba BIOS update before upgrading the BIOS.

But why you want to update the BIOS? If everything works correctly, then I recommend not updated the BIOS

  • Satellite A-C50-K9K - after updating the BIOS, cooling fan is very loud

Gas station proposed to update the BIOS. 1.00 to 1.30. After updating the cooling system is 90% of the time. Load the default settings BIOS do not change.

No backup of the BIOS. Is it possible to download BIOS 1.00 or solve this problem?

The downgrade of the BIOS is not possible because you n t have the first version of BIOS and even if you get the 1.0 version of BIOS, the BIOS update procedure is not possible because the newer version is already flashed.

But I recommend you set the method in Windows to optimize power or better management the cooling battery life

+ Control Panel--> Power Options--> change the parameters of plan--> change power avancΘs--> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings--> cooling method.

  • Satellite L300 - 20 d - after updating the BIOS, that it does not start now

    Hello

I bought my wife a Toshiba L300 - 20 d (PSLB8E-0CK00YEN). It came with loaded Vista, which it cannot do.

My grandson offered also to sort. He has installed a new hard drive, loaded with XP and managed to get almost all the drivers working except the WiFi.

After spending many hours, he decided to update the bios of v1.8 to v1.9. Since it does not start... It happens with the Toshba screen, start windows normally, then it attempts to load windows, flashing and start the cycle al.

He has tried default settings, tried a XP disk, setting on the disk, nothing. He just does the same thing in safe mode.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated

  • Satellite A100-920 - after updating the BIOS, it does not start

    Hi all

I've updated the BIOS of my laptop to V6.0 (excerpt from the Toshiba site) then Windows XP and it went well, then Setup wanted to restart the PC.
But restarts, he won't have in the startup process. I can not access the start menu, or anything else by clicking F2 or F12. But could go the detailed process by clicking on escape. And there I see the following messages:

    Phoenix TrustedCore (TM)
    V6.0
    Version.Mak - r1.53
detects the dual core [email protected]

No TPM or TPM has problem.
    1023 M system RAM passed

    And that's all.
I can not get older versions of BIOS, and I couldn't find the version of the version 6.0 update that I could put on a CD for an another BIOS update.

Anyone has an idea on what is wrong? And if you find that it's to do with version 6.0 and I need a previous version, please could you send me the installation files that are necessary to do the update via a CDROM.

    Thanks for your help.

It is unclear to me that you can do the BIOS update using CDROM. The BIOS updates are designed to be done under operating systems. Old traditional updates have been a little different.

In any case, it seems that the BIOS chip is damaged. I can imagine this downgrade can help but where to find the old version. I know you can get it from the authorized service provider. they have access to the database of Toshiba and they can download the old version of the BIOS.

The download page is just the latest version available.
Contact the nearest service and ask for help.

  • Satellite P100: After updating the BIOS 3.8 I can't access MCE pressing enter

    Hello!

I was able to enter XP MCE by pressing the Enter key when the Welcome screen. Now I cannot and must click on the photo of the small image. Is it because of 3.8 BIOS that I put in place recently or not? Can I do this option still works? Thank you very much.

    Hello

I put t know if you can restore this option but you should access the BIOS and try to define again the default settings t.
Don t forget to save the settings if you exit BIOS ;)

But I really don't understand why you have updated the BIOS. If the laptop is running without any problems a BIOS update is not necessary!
Therefore, never change a system up and running, you know? ;)

Besides as I know the P100 were not delivered with Microsoft XP MCE but with XP Home and Express Media Player or Vista

  • No AHCI in the BIOS in Satellite Pro A200

I just installed an ssd and would like to change the bios to ahci utility but it is not an area that I am able to do this. the computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 (psfa1a-003002).

I have to update the BIOS? Where can I get the update and how can I update?

As I know the BIOS update does not offer some additional options. Please check the settings of the BIOS again. In the BIOS options there SATA advanced option and there you can change between compatibility and AHCI mode.

I have it on my P200. It is almost identical machine but 17 and your model 15.

  • Updated the BIOS on Satellite A30

    Hello

I'm about to update the BIOS on my computer Toshiba Satellite A30 laptop (Service Pack 3).
I downloaded the BIOS updated and decided to update the BIOS from Windows such as recommended on the Toshiba site.

On the site he mentions before the BIOS upgrade, please ensure the following:

    Laptop BIOS update:

Before upgrading the BIOS level, please do the following:
    -Portable is in stand-alone mode.
-Laptop is plugged into the mains.
-Laptop computer must be in boot mode and not recovery mode.
    -Remove all PC cards.

    1 Windows based BIOS update:
1 extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a temporary folder.
    2. ensure that all open files are saved and all applications are closed.
3 run the *.exe extracted to the temporary folder. Follow the instructions on the screen.
    4. the BIOS update will be done automatically.
    5. after a few minutes, the computer will restart automatically.

I'm not sure of what he means by laptop computer must be in boot mode and not recovery mode

What is the startup mode and how to fix my laptop in this mode?
Can't I just run the file downloaded from my office?

    Thank you;

As mentioned by Garrett; You must download the package from the BIOS, then unzip it and then you can run the exe file.
Usually it s no matter where the package was decompressed!
