problems connecting to an external monitor with extended workspace
I have a MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, early 2015) with OS X El Capitan. I can not connect an external monitor as extended workspace (mirror works). Any help and suggestions please.
What happens when you try? IS extended not available?
What is the resolution of the external display?

laptop connected to an external monitor with vga cable issues?
1The votefavoriteI use a Sony Vaio e series laptop running windows 7 Home premium 64-bit, which I always connect to an external monitor with a VGA cable.
I put graphics options to display only on the external monitor and I would like to close the lid of the laptop. In the power settings I put it do nothing when the lid closes.
When it is connected to the external screen I am able to look at the screen very well if the lid of the laptop is open. But whenever I close the lid, the display on the external monitor is turned off.
I have tried everything I can think of as the use of a keyboard to toggle the display, change the plan to plug the monitor off before and after and even more, to much to list etc.
I actually did it on my HD TV using a Hdmi cable that allows me to close the lid. But I want to use it only on my monitor that is sadly only VGA.
I know I'm not alone here, I found many forums on the same issue, but nobody seems to have an answer. It is always with the help of a VGA cable when I find others with the same problem.
Does anyone know where a response?
It seems either VGA may be quite old now since the introduction of HDMI, that Microsoft has not bothered to look on this or get out an update to resolve this issue. Sorry it's just very frustrating because cannot find an answer, and I don't like the laptop overheating or wasting money on energy.
(1) right click on your power Option icon on the taskbar
(2) will take you to Options below
Control Panel:
Choose what closing the lid"this choice is the 3rd in your list of choices
The next screen will allow you to configure your choice:
When I close the lid:
On battery: do nothing and
Plugged in: Do nothing
This will prevent your system/video to go to sleep or stopping
Hope this helps

Use external monitor with Tecra A9 problem
Hi all
I have laptop Tecra A9 with Intel 965 Express Chipset and Windows XP Professional. I use 6.14.10.4814 graphics driver
I tried to implement the configuration to use the external monitor as extended desktop. My laptop screen is 1680 x 1050 and external monitor is 1280 x 1024 and I want to configure it to be as follows:
the two screens to work in their native resolutons
monitor 1 is portable and it's on the right side, external is 2 and it's on the left
And it works fine until I put in Hibernate or restart. After this external monitor is 1 and it is on the left and laptop screen is 2 and it's on the right.
In addition, laptop screen resolution is 800 x 600 now and all the desktop icons are messy.
I'd appreciate any help with this.Thank you.

Satellite L50 - B - 1 p 1 connection to an external monitor
I just bought a satellite P L50-B-1 1. When I tried the port RGB (VGA) to connect to an external monitor, the screen of the laptop freezes, the mouse freezes and the monitor does not display the image. I followed the instructions on how to connect the 2 together and selected everything including extended. I have tested the monitor with another laptop and the monitor works perfectly.
Not something I'd expect from a new laptop.
Can someone help me please?
Thank youRobin
Hello
Are you using the original pre-installed OS that you got with your machine?
I m was really asking something like that to happen. Try to turn off your device. Connect the RGB cable and turn it on again.
Do you use the F4 key to switch between internal and external?Did you test using the HDMI port? If so, post it please the results. It will be interesting to know if the same problem occurs again.

LR CC works fine on my laptop but hangs when I connect a new external monitor
LR CC big short on my laptop with or without the option enable the GPU.
Last week, I bought an ASUS 24 "PA248Q monitor. When I connect the external monitor and get all the settings to extend the screen everything works fine EXCEPT Lightroom. When I run LR, I see the splash screen and the screen on the new monitor then turn a solid color (it seems that any color except the classic blue screen of death). At this point, my laptop is completely locked. No pointer, Ctrl-alt-delete. I have to power down.
In the investigation of this issue, since took me to update to the latest Nvidia driver, is ensure that the driver has been installed and uninstalled and reinstalled LR CC. I calibrate using screen ColorMunki and tried with and without the calibration of loading software on startup. When I unplug the external monitor and restart, LR works normally on the laptop. It just craps out when the external monitor is connected. PS CC works fine on my new monitor.
Help, please. I'm out of ideas. I have a ticket open to ASUS, but so far their dose was to reset the screen and it does not solve the problem of crash.
Thank you
Craig

Qosmio X 500 - 13R: picture on external monitor with resolution 2560 x 1440 is blurred
Hi all
I have a computer laptop X 500 - 13R Toshiba Qosmio, although 2 years, still a great piece of hardware.
I just bought a new monitor 27 "U2713HM which supports a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
Computer video card notebook (GTX 460 m) supports a resolution higher than through a digital connection, so I used a HDMI cable to connect.
Via Control Panel Nvidia, I could create a custom resolution, but the image is not clear / is blurred.
It is readable, but it's just not everything.Tried with HDMI 1.4, without success.
I volunteered to connect through Dual Link DVI cable, but the phone doesn't have a DVI connector, and I doubt the adapter will help.Anyone has a suggestion how to fix this problem?
Thank you.
I would like to share my experience using an external monitor with a HDMI cable.
My monitor supports both HDMI and DVI port.
First of all, I plugged my laptop on the external monitor using a HDMI cable to HDMI.
But the fonts and the picture was not clear. I used the resolution 1920 x 1080Then I went to the DVI port. I plugged the laptop s HDMI port to monitor s port DVI (HDMI/DVI cable) and that solved my problem.
I'm not quite sure the relevance of m this could be for you, but it worth the try

Hello world. It's just a message of public service regarding an issue I encountered. I found that my 900 Yoga do not "wake up" after he went to sleep when you are connected to an external monitor.
I am connected to a HP 27VX monitor by a C of Type USB to HDMI adapter. I found that my Yoga wakes up without problem if the screen is off (power options disable the display settings), but he does not wake up if she gets to sleep when it is connected to the monitor. The question however is not that he don't wake up, the problem is that for some reason when it is connected to the monitor there's going to ever really sleep (slow flashing white light). I think it is the way of somehow when you try to go to sleep. When he enters this mode, the power led is white, and the only solution is power Yoga of the cycle. I don't know why he won't successfully to sleep when it is connected to a monitor, but my guess is a certain type of driver/hardware between the USB type C HDMI adapter and the monitor problem.
I checked that everything works as designed when I am not connected to the monitor. My solution is to go to power options and turn on my sleep option (when it's plugged in) to "never". Not a solution by any means, just a work around so that all stakeholders (Lenovo, HP) understand how to work with the new port USB Type C. I hope this helps.

Lenovo support makes installation. I don't remember whether or not she has uninstalled the driver first. Sorry:)

MacBook Pro retina 15 inch heats up when it is connected to the external monitor
Hello
My problem: When I connect my monitor (LG IPS277L) temperature of my Macbook Pro starts to heat upward. This problem often occurs when I use Facetime.
I found it really strange because I should have a pretty good Macbook Pro for this.
MacBook Pro (15 inch, retina, medio 2015)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics card: Iris Pro 1536 MB Intel / AMD Radeon R9 M370X
El Captain 10.11.6 OSX
I hope that someone recognizes this problem and wants to share their solution.
When you connect to an external monitor, you use the AMD Chip for graphics (without the external screen, most of the software needs only the graphics engine Intel). It attracts more power and therefore heats up. All MacBook Pro for this to some extent. This should be considered normal. If the computer is actually overheating, it will stop.

How to use two external monitors with my laptop?
I have a new Pavilion dm4-301 d cl Entertainment PC. My OS is Windows 7. I'm used to using two external monitors with a docking station. This new laptop lacks a docking station. What should I do use two external monitors?
Certainly not without a dock, but even with laptop HP well enough docks limit you to one of the ports on the external monitor, even if there are two on the dock. We used a device called an Atlona AT-HDPIX2 which is a USB to hdmi adapter. It provides a feature of third monitor for a laptop... use the native external port of the screen and the computer screen internal, then this device gives a third control that is fully configurable to display Windows 7 interface... clone, extend, etc.. It allows a full HD resolution and is pretty responsive for games even light. HP does not have any true docking station for your laptop.

I'm AT & T PACE router connected to Internet. However, I have a problem connecting the Netgear model No. RPV3000 Extender. So I can not see my network_EXT computer and therefore cannot link to this Netgear. I tried to use another network with the name of my network_ext and provide the same passkey that my router, but it was impossible to connect to the Extender.
I would appreciate it, if I can get any suggestion/help to bind and connect to this extension of NETGear. I have WIndow7 system on my computer.
Thank you
Harshad João
First, make sure that the netgear device is not a router. An Extender is very good. You can't have more than one router in a network. Also make sure that if you use the router wireless integrated into your modem, the router ONLY in use.
There is a very specific configuration for the Extender. It should have come with detailed instructions. If you can't find them, call Netgear for assistance.

HP EliteBook 8440p does not connect to the external monitor using VGA! Help!
As you can read by the title, this computer does not connect to an external monitor using VGA.
It will be not just to record all monitors in the control panel.
Can I change the resolution, change the color, etc.. But it will pick up any display.
-This computer has a HDMI port.
-The Windows key and pressing P make the ring of little blue loading appear for a microsecond before nothing appears.
-VGA cable is brand new, double male, directly connected to my Panasonic Viera 32 ''.
-In the properties of this computer is giving an error code that this computer has no drivers. (Code 28)
After a repair, he says "device Base system has not a pilot.
Can someone direct me to the corresponding pages for drivers or instructions? Any help would be appreciated.
There is probably a combination of keys specific to your model that enables / disables the VGA port on and outside. Look in high ranking a key with a marking saucy that some how is supposed to look like a monitor.
