Problems of keyboard with several character keys do not work at startup.

When I boot my laptop characters (', 1, tab, caps lock, and a) Don't work. I use the function of accessibility to type without keyboard. I could get the keyboard to work properly by uninstalling the keyboard from the Device Manager, but after a boot sequence the problem recurs.

It is likely that your keyboard is a failure.  You will probably need competent technical assistance to do this in a laptop.  It usually requires some dismantling of the computer to remove and install a new keyboard.  In some, it is very simple and could be done by a non-techie, with great care.

It can be difficult to find a GOOD keyboard for a laptop.  There are a myriad of pieces for the same model computer.  My advice would be to find first and so that the system for tech support.

Note setting a keyboard in a desktop computer is something from $ 10 to $ 20 is simply disconnect the faulty one and plugging in the new.

The keyboard in a laptop is a kind of coverage on the PC.  It is very easy for dust, crumbs and fluids to go and really mess up things.  This is why they are so vulnerable.

  • Request a product key after 3 years. Product included with Dell original keys do not work.

Over the past two days, Windows started asking me to validate my product code.  This, despite the fact that I had the same OS since May 2007.  I do not know what prompted the change, but I have two codes of product on the CD provided by Dell.  One is for the OS, the other is for Microsoft Office professional 2007.  The only other CD received with the system is Dell XPS drivers and resources.  No Microsoft Product Code is acceptable for this verification process.

Which MAY have been prompted by installing a new motherboard - the previous Dell motherboard had to be replaced due to several bad capacitors.  However, not sure how this affects the o/s installed previously.  The computer works in a manner consistent with the change of the motherboard for about 2 weeks now.  The new motherboard is a 2.67 image system and RAM has been improved at the same time to 4 GB.   I thought I would include these changes even if they seem not related to the evolution of the o/s.

    Thank you.

Thanks for the replies, I will examine in detail a little later.

No, in answer to your question - the new motherboard is not made by Dell.  Dell had a problem a few years with the defective capacitors - although there are a few motherboards of Dell stock, there is no interest to replace an original motherboard with bad capacitors, with a new Board of Directors with the same problems.  Dell has replaced bad motherboards a couple of years, but mine had not blown at the time, and I'm not "excluded".

In addition, the replacement with Dell motherboard is $400 + US dollars for a dual core (and comes with the same potential problem of capacitor), while I was able to get a new card with a quad core locally for about $250.  Is not supposed for several points of view to do otherwise, I think.

The system doesn't seem to work with a few minor quirks, what are the consequences of inaction?  I can't afford to raise more money on this problem, as I am a student full time and cannot afford to replace the operating system...

    He@ther

Provided by the Dell original OS keycode will OPERATE ONLY with a card mother Dell. You can buy a new key code which, by chance, usually comes with the installation media.

You may have saved money on the Exchange and got yourself a better computer, but still you have to pay $400 after buying a new operating system. Look on the bright side, for $400, you have a more powerful computer. Consider making Windows 7.

    Hello

The FN keys to install the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards. They control the FN keys combination.

According to your image of installed applications you have added already installed package but I can t see Flash Cards Support utility. I guess you forgot to install then you should check the Toshiba Web site again for this tool. Download and install the FN keys and it should work again.

Regarding HWsetup: you have a new mainboard? Has something changed about the hardware on your computer?

  • Satellite A200-10N (PSAE3): Fn key does not work after upgrade to vista any time

After upgrading Vista-Home - Premium--> Vista Ultimate shortcut with the fn keys does not work, for example Fn + F6/7 (brightness).

New value pack installation has not been successful.
Moreover, after upgrading the drive to DVD from Toshiba is default, too.
    Who can help?

I didn't try any update on my A200 but you can try to follow: install Vista using recovery media delivered. When Vista starts for the first time go in Panel and you can find Add/Remove Programs option. Remove all the stuff designed by Toshiba.

When we remove everything, making Vista upgrade. After finishing Vista upgrade install all the stuff of Toshiba designed by order of specific facilities starting with added value package. Check please the download page if all of these tools and utilities are available.

As far as I know all the tools and utilities are designed as universal tools and I can't imagine that there is a difference between the version of Vista ultimate or premium tools.

DVD player is part of the image of the installations only and I can imagine that upgrade installation has changed something, but the upgrade procedure is responsible for this. I don't see any connection to Toshiba.

As I said I don't have a CD to upgrade, but if I find one I'll try to test it on my Vista (Premium) preinstalled A200-1CR.

Bye and I hope that you report your experiences with the Vista upgrade again.

    Hey John,

Thank you for being a part of the communities of Apple Support.

It appears from your message that a line of F to L keys do not work correctly on your MacBook Pro. What I would like to, it's please use the keyboard on your Mac Viewer to verify that the keys are not currently recognized on your Mac:

OS X El Capitan: use the keyboard Viewer

If the problem persists, please reset your memory NVRAM-How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac- and report with your findings.

Hello arlusk, the problem is probably an extension that is not working properly. Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most of the modules.

(If you use it, switch to the default theme).

    • You can open Firefox 4.0 + in Safe Mode holding the key SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • Or open the Help menu and click on the restart with the disabled... modules menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, simply select "" boot mode safe. "

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. To do this, please follow article Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems .

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. It might help others who have the same problem.

    Thank you.

Why wait so long? Where this problem occurs from the beginning, it is always possible to return the laptop to your local dealer and ask for replacement.

Anyway, do last and final test. Reinstall the original recovery image and check if the problem persists. If so I think you should contact the closest service Toshiba and ask for help. Your laptop is new and its warranty valid, they will help you.

Maybe new update BIOS, if available, may help, but first try to clarify this issue with the technicians.

  • U940-11 x satellite: FN + keyboard keys do not work correctly

I have to press CTRL + SHIFT to have my keyboard works correctly. I have to do this every time I use my laptop.

I see that the laptop using Win 8.
You need to perform a full stop down to access the BIOS.

See this document. It provides information how to change the settings to access the BIOS:

    > I have to press CTRL + SHIFT to have my keyboard works correctly.
Have you checked the presentation of the keyboard settings?
For me, it looks like you are using wrong keyboard layout settings. Using the key combination CTRL + SHIFT changes between keyboard layouts.

    How do I change this?
Go to the Control Panel-> regional and Language Options
A click on the "Keyboards and languages" tab then click on "change keyboards" button. Then in the tree "Installed services" list, select the keyboards you don't want and click 'remove.
