Problems re-setup wireless on Tecra 9100

Just this laptop was a gift about two years ago... didn't have a cd of Tosh with him... friends is no longer had it. Finally came to the point where she needed a reconstruction and thus kill in the xp disc has the downloaded set jolly I thought has all the drivers of the Tosh support site, but even when specifically install the driver wireless for this model, it does not seem to install as the rest of the drivers and I don't seem to be getting anywhere. I know that this laptop supports wireless as it worked to rebuild them.

The small yellow light for the wireless, but remains yellow and there is a device not recognized in my device manager...

Help?

Thanks guys,.

Miles

Hello

Have you tried to install the WLan driver right?

The Toshiba driver page provides Wlan drivers for Agere, Toshiba and Cisco Wlan cards.
In my view, this problem is simply to choose wrong driver.

At the bottom of the unit, you should find the tag that provides information about the integrated wireless network card.

Take a look at the label and you should find the right card Wlan factory.

    Hello

I have just re-installed XP SP2 on my 9100 and have downloaded different drivers from the Toshiba web site and even went to the Intel web site and got the specific Chipset drivers, most of the stuff works now.
But the main problem is the internal wireless card does not function perfectly, it is seen by XP and can connect to my router wirelessly using the key WEP etc but it does not pick up an address DHCP and if I statically configure an IP address in I can't ping anything (loopback ping works) the fixed Ethernet port works fine.
I also have an external Wireless PCMCIA card which behaves in the exact same way. So the thing in common, that I can see is the Cardbus TI PCI-1410/ToPIC100 controllers, they use the generic Microsoft drivers, anyone know where I can get drivers updated for them? TI website is no help! Or have any other suggestions? (I n t have the recovery CD!)

    Thank you very much

    Trent.

P.S. Can't display driver to work either the access key.

    Hello

First you must install the utility chipset on the Toshiba site and not the site of Intel because Toshiba is recommended to install the drivers from the download area of Toshiba.
If you install the operating system manually (not from the recovery CD) so it is very important that you install Toshiba stuff in the right order.
After you install SP2 and windows, you must install the driver from chipset from Toshiba site and the common modules. After this installation, you can install graphic driver driver audio, etc.
Please also check the information of SP2 from Microsoft Update Web site.

Is it you wireless problem: I think it s a router issue because the two wireless cards can peak t the DHCP address. Well, nevertheless the TCP/IP protocol must be set on automatically and please check if the windows wireless configuration is enabled.
I recommend also to disable the encryption, then try the connectivity.

  • Problem of random wireless on Tecra A3

Hi, the wireless connection on my A3 often has problems. Four other computers serve the network and have never had any problem, but with my laptop I often have trouble connecting. Then sometimes it just does not provide any Internet despite notices on the wireless page because it is, full signal etc.

Then some time later the internet will suddenly start work without reason. When the internet works, when the connection speed drops to 24 Mbps it stop internet all together, until the speed files also further, when she comes back.

    Help, please!

    Hello

As far as I know, this unit was delivered with the Atheros WLan card.
Usually the Atheros client utility must be preinstalled on the device and must be used to configure the WLan connection and the options.
I put t know if use you it, but if not check it out.
Also I recommend you to check the version of the WLan driver. Maybe a new version is available on the Toshiba site.

However, especially material compatibility between the WLan router and the WLan card is responsible for these matters (logon times, etc.)

  • Tecra 9100 does not start in windows-black display

    Hi, just found this forum.
I have problems with my old laptop Tecra 9100 that ive had since.
I stopped last night, started this morning and now is no longer boots.
It gets past the Toshiba screen and windows xp scroll bar screen seems in good condition.

But then the screen turns black and does not go to the XP login screen.
But windows does not work because if I press on enter newspapers in my profile (I hear the theme music for connection etc, and the HARD drive light is on, connect to windows...) It's just that I have no display at all?

I also tried an external monitor, always the same, Windows XP, scroll screen still appears, but nothing else appears on the display.

Any ideas? Hardware failure? (But the toshiba screen and 1 XP appears)? , Because the OS (even thought I can connect, although "blind")?

    Thank you

It's strange... I put t think that there is a hardware problem because you can see the Toshiba start screen and like you say the Windows starts.

My first thought was that your display is set to external monitor
Looks like you have tested and nothing appears on the second screen?  :|
    Which is really strange.

In any case after the laptop started try to use the key combination FN + F5 to switch to another screen, maybe it helps.

You can also try booting in safe mode. Press the F8 key at the beginning.
    Then choose Safe mode.

  • Tecra 9100 wireless network problem

I'll have a chance by putting my Tecra 9100 with my home wireless network. The network seems to work very well. My other laptop connects to it without any problems and I can connect the Tecra with the ethernet cable. But the wireless connection, it cannot be successfully established by the Tecra.

She claims to be connected, but he receives no package, and could get no internet connectivity. When I try to 'fix' the connection, it sits there for a while before telling me that the IP address may not be renewed.

I managed to connect the Tecra to the network of the next door without penalty, which suggests that there is some kind of problem with our network interface. I tried to reproduce the exact settings from my other laptop, so I don't understand what the problem is.

Any idea would be appreciated with gratitude!

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what is happening here. The functionality of the laptop is ok and it's very confusing if it works with other local wireless networks.

I recommend putting your access point to the factory without some specific parameters settings and try to connect it.

Sorry, but I don? have another idea.

  • Tecra 9100 - no wireless connection

    Can anyone help please?

The wireless in the toolbar icon has a red x and will not let me connect even though I see my router.
Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? I have Tecra 9100 with Windows XP SP3.
    Thank you

    Hello

The icon in the toolbar with a red cross?

Well buddy, have you checked if the WLan card is properly recognized in Device Manager?
Usually a first step to clarify if the wireless card is ok or if something breaks down.
In the device-> network card Manager, you should see the wireless network card.
If there is a yellow exclamation point, then try to update the WLan driver.

If the driver has been installed correctly and there is no yellow exclamation mark then the next step would be checking the settings of network connections.

Check if the wireless network connection is enabled (Start button-> settings-> network connection)

    Check it out!

  • Tecra 9100: Wireless / Bluetooth Switch

I have the above and when I press Fn + F8 I get a message on the screen.

"Wireless is disabled. Please activate the wireless communication switch. »

When I try and install the Bluetooth stack drivers I get as much as the driver Bluetooth installation... screen and after a bit of activity of the HD, I get a pop-up message.

"Couldn't turn on Bluetooth monitor. Please activate the Communication of wireless switch located on the side of the main unit. »

I think that there is a problem with the switch on the front of the laptop. I that reason for my guess. Is - fixable. Can I fix it myself. Other ideas.

    Thank you

Hmm, don t think that the switch is the reason for this notification message.
Did you check if the laptop supports Wlan and BT maps?

To my knowledge, the two cards (WLan & BT) are optional on this Tecra 9100!
I think that you should first check this! Have a look in Device Manager

  • Tecra 9100 cann't find the internal wireless card

I have Tecra 9100. Recently he started to act strange. Sometimes (rarely), it cannot find its internal wireless card or / and hang (freeze). When I check the device manager card is simply not there. After the reboot, the map pops up sometimes, but not for long.
I checked the event viewer, but the only Error Message is:
    Source: Service Control Manager
    Event ID: 7000
Description: The OrangeWire USB enhanced host controller service could not start because of the following error: the specified driver is invalid.

2 USB ports are working perfect. What is the link between that message and the internal wireless card?
Any ideas how to fix? I'm with Windows XP SP2.
    Thank you.

I put t think the WiFi problem could be related to the USB enhanced host controller service. I don t see a consistency

You can try several steps; first try to install the latest driver WLan.
Access card WLan (device-> Properties Manager) properties, and then clear the option to save energy.
Additionally, you will find different option in the Advanced tab.
I can t Advisor was 100% what options need to be changed because each wireless network card supports different function.

Whatever the case the advice above will not help not I think there could be something wrong with the OS files or registry keys.
In this case, it would be very interesting to know if the installation of clean operating system might help.

  • Wireless LAN on Tecra 9100 evil: card not recognized or system crashes

I have a little problem with my tecra 9100. When I want to use my wireless network, it works sometimes and sometimes the pc does not even see the map. but when it works for awhile, then the complete system crashes! and I have to reset the tecra. now I use an external wireless (3com) and features a large, but what can be the problem?

    Hello

Without accurate control for laptop, we can just speculate what may be the problem. If sometimes the WLAN card is not visible to the system, I guess there is a contact problem and system has no contact to the card and card cannot be detected at all.

When it blocks for laptop may be due to loss of contact on the map. In my view the contact on the motherboard must be verified by the service. If you don't want to just use the external solution and take advantage of the WLAN functionality.

    Hello Siegen

I am very interested to understand your problem and try to help but I really didn t understand your problem. Of course, my English isn't the best, but I hope you can clearly explain what you want to know about this old notebook.

BIOS password has this oldie and now, you don't have access to it now?
Is your laptop or you bought one?
Here you can ask what you want and I'm sure that you can chat with other owners of Toshiba laptops on your problems.

I have two of them and I am very satisfied. Support and customer service are on the high level. So I'm really interested about your problem and the reasons why you think that the service is not good for you.
I mean, for each question, there must be a logical explanation.

I am quite often here and you want to discuss with other people. If the last comment on the propaganda is somewhat strange to me.

  • Problems of its Tecra 9100

I have reviewed all 54 pages of messages of the Forum TE and Tecra here and found only one that relates directly to the issue I'm having. He titled "Tecra 9100 major sound issues" and has been locked, unaswered with the last post on 21 July with some response on the use of a new pilot.

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13809

I recently bought two used Tecra 9100 (guarantee is expired, unfortunately) and they are both in great shape. I couldn't be happier with them, but alas, the sound came out on one. I checked through all the General solutions, Device Manager, reinstall drivers, purchase new sound card on eBay, test with a sound card in the other system of work...

I tested the drive with a 16 MB SD card and a 1 GB card, of which none were detected (even though I updated the driver for that also).

Installing the driver for the card his Yamaha returns a warning message telling me that "the driver has been installed not."

I cleaned all contacts with alcohol and q-tips several times.

There is no device not recognized in Device Manager.
The OS is a new installation.
The BIOS is updated to the latest version (ver 1.60).

If there is someone tha can you please help me to diagnose more this problem I would be very grateful.
    Thanks to a bouquet.

  • Major problems of its Tecra 9100

I hope someone can help me with this, it makes me crazy.

I can't get the sound to work on my Tecra 9100. The system does not recognize that there is a map of his present. When I try to install the drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site, installation is going through the motions and then at the end it turns out that this error message: caution, "was not installed. That's all. I tried to uninstall, restart, fully updated Windows, even by the restoration of the system from the CD that came with the laptop... nothing works! Argh!

    Hello

You are 100% sure that the sound card is not faulty?

  • Tecra 9100 - problem BIOS update/restore

    Hi all:

A few days ago, I (declining misguidely) tried to update the BIOS on my Tecra 9100. Now on startup I get the message "BIOS (Block1) is damaged! (Call the repairman). Technician: Place the maintenance disk in the drive and press any key when ready "." I tried to restore the BIOS by following the instructions on the web page of the BIOS (traditional method using a USB FDD) driver - put on with the key immediately to the left of the SPACEBAR key leads to the message "ready for the update of the BIOS. Place the BIOS update floppy in the drive and press any key when you are ready to move forward. "The disk is regularly consulted and the laptop will beep every 10 seconds for a period of a few minutes. Then it stops, but should be repeated after any key is pressed. There is however, no change in the information in the form and no result just possible restart in the same error message on the BIOS damaged.

Anyone can shed some light on what might be happening here? I'm afraid that I maybe should I follow a few instructions on the screen (as the instructions for the update of the BIOS suggest) that I do not see that the screen is not active? So I can't hit the correct answers when required. Should I really the military and its maintenance diskette? Is this disk available anywhere if I can do it myself?

Any help or suggestions that anyone can give on this subject would be much appreciated - I don't want to go hunting a new motherboard unless it is absolutely necessary.

    Cheers, Chris.

    Hello Chris

I am not a technician, but according to your assignment, I'm sure that your BIOS chip is damaged. I'm afraid of nothing that you can do everything alone. I recommend you call and explain the situation.

I'm really skeptical you will find these special tools online.

  • Tecra 9100 - Ethernet is declining

    Hello

I have Toshiba Tecra 9100 that I used to connect my ps3 to wireless internet. For some reason my Tecra is down the Ethernet of the ps3, the strange thing is if I turn the laptop off the battery only there is no problem but as soon as I plug I save it starts to give up the connection again.

Any body know what is the problem?

    Hello

To be honest, I don't have a specific answer to your question, but maybe you should try to install the latest drivers LAN and WLAN. Also check the properties of the device and make sure that all power saving settings are defined to the maximum level.

In Toshiba surveillance tool when the laptop is connected to the power supply running set everything up.
    Intel Speedstep option implemented.

    I hope this will help.

  • Tecra 9100: Unable to connect external monitor to the APR III Plus via DVI

    Hello
I have a laptop Tecra 9100 that I try to use with an Advanced Port Replicator III (APR3 +) to connect to an LCD flat screen widescreen Dell via the DVI connector, but so far without success.

All other connections on the APR3 + operate without problem, the monitor stir however not until Windows finishes loading, how it shows a totally white screen with black bars very close down vertically.
I upgraded to the latest version of the BIOS and tested all the cables, but in vain. I also carefully searched from Toshiba Web site, but the only document which deals with taken ports supported on the APR3 + I can find does not list my laptop model at all.

Please can you tell me if this mode of operation is supported and if it is how to enable it?
Alternatively, if it is not supported, could I use a VGA - DVI cable to connect the APR3 + LCD flat screen?

    Concerning
    Ross.

    Hello

I see that you have updated the BIOS. I think that it was not a bad idea, but you also need to check if you have installed the latest version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3.
I don't know if that helps, but please check.

How to check the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3
-Select Control Panel in the start menu.
S ' please click on ' Add / Remove Programs "from the control panel.
-TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 for Windows XP V3.xx.xx.XP"appears in the list of software to ' Add or Remove Programs".
-If the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 installed on your computer is V3.19.00.XP or more, please upgrade to the new version V3.21.00.XP.

How to upgrade the TOSHIBA Mobile Extension 3 to version V3.21.00.XP
-Uninstall the current version of TOSHIBA Mobile extension 3
    -Restart the computer.
-Download the new version, unzip it by running, and run "Setup.exe" from the compressed file.
