Problems reinstalling the programs previously installed on an external hard drive.

So we have this 900 GB external hard (called the [re] drive) drive still connected to your computer via the USB port. To save space on the local hard drive (drive C), whenever I had to install a program, I would put all of his stuff on the external hard drive. Now, I know it was a stupid idea because it can completely screw your computer somehow. in any case, after I realized that I should only record the program on the computer files, I deleted all the program files on the external hard drive and planned to resettle them on the local C drive. However, for what I'm trying to install on the C drive, I always get a weird error message, and I'm sure it has to do with already being installed on the ext disk. In addition, the ext drive gets disconnected from time to time, and there wearing always changes. It used to be included in the port of J, but now it's on the port of K. When the ext disk used to contain the program files, it was listed under the J drive. After I tried to reinstall everything, the reader became the K drive because he got more unplugged. I don't know that this has something to do with all these installation errors as well. However, no matter what port I plug the ext drive in, it refuses to change: it won't change k. It's so frustrating! I can not even my printer drivers to reinstall correctly, and I'm having a HUGE problem with reinstalling Java. I tried to work around this problem, since a few months now, and now I'm about to take just a baseball bat to this computer and replace this piece of *. And I've already messed around a bit with the registry editor, and I DID find things listed (as in Java or my OfficeJet printer) in the title of the folder on drive J railways, which of course is not an existing file path, because it changed the drive K. But I'm not sufficiently comfortable with the registry, in order to have the courage to do so much = (in any case, someone has any ideas? And the system restore does not restore points soon enough if it's what you recommend.

Hi Ron,

What is the exact problem that you are experiencing when trying to reinstall?

Programs must be uninstalled and reinstalled to the correct location.

If the deleted programs are still in the Recycle Bin, you can restore them and change the drive back letter and follow the correct procedure.

  • Problems with the PX1267E - 1 32 300 GB external HARD drive

    I got the toshiba (px1267E - 1 32) (300 GB external usb drive)
At some point I plugged the usb taken in upside down (for a bad reason he did) and of course, it did not work.
Hmm, I thought that is burned.

But when is reconnected it quickly he was again detected only on mode slow usb 1.1. I guessed the drive inside was a standard drive, so I removed the drive from the case but. When I put in a different usb transmission case, it is detected and also the correct size (although its more than 200 MB). But it is not formatted.

I gues the chip of the original envelope has a kind of special way of partitioning. But the data is still on the disk and if I connect it to the orriginal chip sound as good. But still the speed slow usb. Is there a way to read the data by using some kind of software? I save the data and put the disc in another usb enclosure.
    So, to make it short.

I have a disc to work partially because the usb controller is a little broken (speed slow usb 1.1)
I tried to read the disc by using the IDE or another external case usb, but windows does not include the partitioning.

I need to backup data, but need to type SME software so I can unzip the partition.
PS its not passworded I never put a password on it.

I hope someone can help me

    > I guess the chip of the original envelope has some kind of special way of partitioning.
It s no matter what chip it is. This has nothing to do with the partitions on the HARD disk.
External USB controller can be IDE or SATA controller.

You said that the external HARD drive has been recognized
    > When I put in a different usb transmission case, that it is detected and also the right size

I put t understand how the external HARD drive has been recognized by the OS, but generally you should see it in disk management.
We could also see which partitions are created.

  • Since the update of Vista on my external hard drive problems

I have a problem with my external hard drive. A week ago I reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium on my PC. Everything worked very well, my external hard drive, too. But after installing all the new updates and SP2 my external hard drive has problems. If I copy something from her, or just listen to the music is recorded on it, so overall if I work with her, after 1 to 3 minutes it stops working. I have to sign in to get access to it again. But before installing SP2 updates after SP2 everything worked out very well. So I think that there is a problem with SP2 or the following updates. My Pc is a Dell Dimension 9200 and the external hard drive is a Verbatim 1 TB external hard drive and USB 2.0

I tried to bbot with Ubuntu and delete the Autorun.inf. Now everything works fine again.
    Thank you

Keep all the files on external hard drive image?  Nothing else and no pictures on the desktop?

Keep all image files both places?

As I only have the version of the EP, here is some info on the organiser:

Independent of how this feature works, you want to have your photos in one place and have a backup (second copy) somewhere else. All hard drives will not be successful at some point - some more early, some late - never trust to have your files in any safety devices if they are on a single disc. Once you have your sorted, it would be useful that you will organize/name/tag new photos immediately if the task is relatively short and simple. I copy my photos on my internal hard drive for my camera, take a quick look with preview to see who needs some changes and then decide where to put them - either drop them immediately after naming them or bring in an editing application and then file them away.

  • Backup and restore > Creat an Image of the system: program cannot find a WD external hard drive

I recently bought and installed a MyBook 2 t Western Digital network drive.  It installed fine and I can see listed on the 'Computer' desktop and icon within the Norton backup program.  I have setup my regular backup routines successfully.  On the bottom: I recently lost a hard drive and replaced with a new one and spent several days to restore the system and install any patches, etc.  It was particularly difficult to get the installed Windows 7 SP1.  I wanted to install this drive external hard to use Windows built-in Backup and Restore to "create a system image.  When I select this option, the program asks me where I want to save the backup. I select the button of "on a hard drive" and search for the external hard drive.  It notes the two internal hard drives, external hard drive is not found.  Support WD provided the following instructions:

You should never get too low on your space of hard drive as the OS needs a minimum 10-15 GB of free space at any time to work properly. So, if you do any movie or image/photo, rendering and editing editing works best if you have at least as much vacuum you have temporary files in your project. I can easily raise 100 GB or more temp. files for a one hour film HD, so I keep a lot of empty hard disk space.

In order to get a few things on your hard drive, the usual space hoggers are therefore, movies, photos, etc. You can move all those who in their library on an external hard drive, and after having checked they are working, delete them from your hard drive.

Generally, the application work better if they are installed on your internal hard drive; I'm not a gamer, so I'm not familiar with the specifics of the game you're talking about. Search on Google, I couldn't find any reference to the Macs on their website - here, it shows the platforms it is compatible with:

    @chrismuirhead
Maybe the software has been placed in your first account and starts automatically if you use your account. For most of these software is placed in the registry under RUN or in the startup folder.
You must check the file if the application is placed here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\ account \Start
