I went to your website of HP and selected the specific software for Windows 8.1 64bits. The new desktop computer is connected to a wifi network and the printer is also connected to this network. The printer works fine with my laptop that is running Windows 7. When I try to extract the software downloaded, it disappears and I get a message "unable to locate the file selected. I can't find anywhere on the computer even when I opened all the subfolders on the hard drive.

  You don't have to create a program first, put directly in the work should work as well.
