Problems with LAN RJ45 Ethernet on Tecra A8 PTA83E link

I experienced some problems with the onboard Intel PRO/1000 PL Ethernet adapter. The adapter in most cases works very well: it connects normally in 100 or 1000Mbps - full duplex - speed, depends on wich internetworking devices connected and the link has any problems.

But, in some cases, with multiple Eth, the adapter devices involved the link at all, the Green LED on the right (link?) continually flashes with a delay of 2 seconds (0.5 "-1.5" wide) and the yellow on the left (traffic?) is always idle. On the other side of the Cat5e cable, the unit (now a Linksys WAG325N router) sign no link. There is NO cable problem.

Windows (XP Pro, SP2) sometimes reports in the small icon of the LAN adapter on the traybar a driver connection established at different speeds (often 100 Mbit/s, but sometimes 1000Mbps!), but soon he returned to status "cable disconnected".

I tried to upgrade the drivers directly from the pages of Support Intel because the support of Toshiba does not recognize my laptop (!), and because originally I did a downgrade to XP (I'm sorry, but I don't want to use the original MS Vista!), but nothing changes.

The only way to establish a connection that I found is to manually reduce the speed (10 Mbps - full duplex) of XP driver advanced settings link. In this case, everything works, but a low speed.

Can someone help me? Someone already noticed this problem?

I m not very good if it isn't a cable delivers.
Have you tried to connect the two devices using a crossover cable (cross cable)

There are three different types of crosscable:
-100BASE-TX-Ethernet 10BASE-T-und
-100BASE-T4-Ethernet
-Ethernet 1000BASE-T

The difference is the use of pairs of crossed wires.

However, the use of crossed cables is not necessary if you connect a router or switch device.
But in case you want to connect two laptops, the crossover cable is required.

    FYI for Windows updates:

    Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

    You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

    But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

    You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

  • Satellite Pro C850 - strange problem with LAN connection

    I just signed up on this forum because I hope you guys can help me with a really strange problem.

    I recently bought a Satellite Pro C850-1MX
    It came with Win8, but given that I don't really like Win8, I bought an additional Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) license and installed on the laptop.

    The problem I describe, also arrived on 8 to win, which makes it even more strange.

    As soon as I connect a cable to the RJ-45 port, Windows tells me, that the LAN connection is not connected.
    As soon as I unplug the cable, Windows starts looking for a network and actually found one!

    So, the only way to connect to my LAN cable is... I have activate the LAN connection, wait that it detects a network (without the cable connected!) and meanwhile to connect the cable to the network port.
    Now... If I disconnect the cable once again, Windows still shows its connected.

    I must say, that I am a Director of professional network for more than 10 years now, so I should know my systems, but this never happened to me before. Event log shows nothing, re-installing drivers did nothing either. IM quite confused here and I hope you guys can help me.

    I would try to start talking about the drivers installed, since you changed the system for Win 7.
    All the network devices, such as card WLan and LAN card are properly recognized in Device Manager?

    As I m not wrong not the laptop was equipped with a network card Realtek-8111F (1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T) and WLan RTL8723AE Realtek b/g/n card.
    If both should appear in the device properly Manager if you have installed the drivers correctly.

  • Problem with LAN wireless


    I finally solved my problem. This is the encryption. The Linksys router was set to WAP encryption, but the laptop did not know that. I happened to change this setting on the laptop myself using the ThinkVantage Access Connections program, which included a copy of the encryption key manually. Now the wireless connection from the laptop to the router works great.

    There are always two things which surprise me. One is why wireless OK when I first set up the local network in December. The only explanation I can think is that I put it to ignore encryption, but I shouldn't do that for security reasons. Then for some reason any Setup stopped working a few months later.

    Another puzzle is why encryption was not configured automatically by the Linksys Web Connect program supplied with the router. I used it several times and, after a long wait, he always asks an alternative connection for configuration, cable, or a removable disk. That should have been a sure way to put in place encryption, but it never did.

    All that I can say now is: Phew!

    As you can see that you can not install ATI driver. Please don t he understood as a problem or something unusual. This is normal and the way the material is protected. Please use driver Toshiba designed. He won't force the graphics card on the limit and avoid overheating.

    I recommend you remove preinstalled driver and install Toshiba one. This driver has been tested and works correctly. If you n t it have you will find everything you need on Toshiba download page.
