problems with the firefox search engine

When using my hotmail email today when I I closed it got stuck with the msn home page, I have managed to recover the firefox home page, but the search is made by BING, I don't want that I want as before google. It seems if be produced since firefox 18 was delivered

Can any body help to get this back as before

Try to reset default preferences with the SearchReset extension:

Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).

You can check the pref browser.search.defaultenginename (s) on the topic: config page to see if it has the value of Google by default.

If there is a problem with the search through the default value: home page and then try to reset the search engine used on the subject: homepage.

Reset the pref browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone through the context menu by default on the topic: config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the on: default home page.

  1. Open the topic: config page through the address bar
  2. Type in the filter bar: mstone
  3. Right-click on the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line, and then select: Reset
  4. Close and restart Firefox

If this did not help, then remove the button Delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder and repeat the foregoing.

  • Problem with the easy search engine url

I want that search engines to scan some of my pages that can currently will be achieved only with variables in the url, for example www.mydomain.com/home.cfm?m=fred. So I changed that link to the www.mydomain.com/home.cfm/fred (call this "google-friendly url"). On home.cfm, I check the value of cgi. PATH_INFO, and if it is not null, I analyze the characters after the last slash to get the value of my variable "m" (in this case, "fred").

The strange thing is that when I navigate the explorable url by google, my stylesheet is ignored and none of my styles are applied. When I use Firebug to look at the html code and css, I see this when inspecting any < div > tag:

My global.css file is in the same folder (wwwroot) as home.cfm. Can someone tell me what is happening? Thank you.

I'm having a problem with the FireFox browser. I have attached two files that describe the problem. I have marked their A & B. A is how it should look like and B what happens once I have, I opened several tabs. I can get it back to normal if I click VIEW, click Customize. When the window customize appears that Firefox returns to its normal state. I have to click on the done button and go back to what I did. I tried to reset FireFox back to the default settings, but that has not fixed the problem.
It started happening a month. Is there a way I can fix this? Thanks for your help. I don't know how to fix my 2 attachments that shows the problem I'm having.

  • New tab opens with the Bing search engine

So I'm having exactly the same problem like this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/959280

    In short, I updated firefox and now the new tabs always open with a bing search engine. The url that keeps opening is: search.conduit.com/?ctid=CT3312375 & octid = EB_ORIGINAL_CTID & SearchSource = 69 & CUI = & SSPV = EB_SSPV & lay = 1 & UM = 2 & UP = SP634F83D9 - 5B 86-4960 - A131 - 4A6C35FD668C

I am convinced that this is not a problem with any add ons. I disabled everything possible that could affect it.

I tried to use the suggestion of the top answer but in the subject: config section, I don't have a preference searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser name. I looked at all the others 'newtab' preferences related names and did what the original fold says (wrong type in the value section) but it did not work! There's a name preference called browser.newtab.url by the url that opens each new tab as the "value", but whenever I try to change it, it is just for this url.

So, I'd appreciate it if someone could help me. I hate Bing! Even more now that they pulled this shit.

could go you firefox > help > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of this page and paste them here in an answer on the forum? This could give us an idea of what's going on...

  • How can I get my Web site and keywords included in the Firefox search engine?

I'm having a hard time finding the place where I can put my Web site address and its key words for the search engine find me (my site). Is there an address I can go directly to the entrance of my keywords in SEO so potential customers can find my site and it will appear higher on the list?

    Thank you
    Victoria

Firefox is not a search engine, we are a browser. Search engines like Google, yahoo, etc. have their own methods for sites subject to their databases. Usually they will find and index your site on their own as long as it is has some links somewhere on your site.

  • How can I report a problem with the Firefox Web browser?

I use the Firefox web browser, my OS is Windows 10 pro. I am the webmaster for the site http://eckankarinoklahoma.org. When I revise and update the pages of the site, Firefox does not recognize changes you make until I hit the button reload (renewal) to the right of the address. However, when there is no button to reload a page, Firefox won't recognize the changes that have been made until I delete my browsing history. It seems to read pages web history. I tried everything to reload the page to get out of the site and back, etc.. to get Firefox to recognize the changes but it will not. As I said, the only way I can get it to recognize the changes is to delete my history, which is a real pain. The page is not a reload button is a password protected page. See the above site and click on the left menu "Connect members here." However, by visiting this page, you'll be able to see the problem until what you have visited and there again once it has been revised. The only revision made to this page is the date in the label asking the password. The password works fine, it's just that the label will never update and it is important for users to know in what section to find the password. Sorry for the verbosity of the present, but I hope you get the idea of the problem.

When I look at this home page in the cache, I see that he arrived at expiration (date/time expiration in the past) and so Firefox should look for changes on the next load. If you check your cache, the pages of problem also expire? You can paste the following text in the address bar and press ENTER to load the cache for the homepage information:

    on:-l' the cache entry? storage = disc & uri = http://eckankarinoklahoma. org /.

To display everything in the cache, start on the topic: cache page.

  • I have a problem with the function "search".

When I type in a file name in the search box on my WIndows 7 operating system, I started to find the info irrelevant. That is to say: I type in "To Do List" (looking for this file). Next, I get a reading of the CONTROL PANEL (1) section followed to "See the list of running gadgets" followed by a list of e-mail files.

I started looking for a Word document and make me a bunch of info, I don't understand and no files with the appropriate words in the name of the file. Same thing happens no matter what I type in.

Don't know when this started, he has noticed yesterday (September 18), but does not use the search function a lot so he may have been there awhile.

    In addition, what are gadgets?

The control panel is normal; I get that too when I did the search.  Because you wanted to search for a file whose name is ' to do list', you can limit your search with the name: property.  Type:

name: ~ = "to do list".

Gadgets are dohickey things that appear on your desktop as something that gets information about the weather on the internet and you shows.

  • How can I open a new tab and enter automatically in the address bar and not in the Firefox search engine?

When I open a new tab I see Google search smooth with large beautiful Firefox logo on the top center of research, and makes me automatically type in this research. Is there a way to automatically enter address bar when a new tab is opened? Just moved to Firefox and it's quite annoying.
    Thanks to all the advice.
    -Karl

Looks like you have set browser.newtab.url to Subject: House which opens the default home page in each new tab. The simplest thing to do is to reset this preference so that instead of the new tab page:

    1. Type of topic: config in the address bar and press ENTER.
    2. To ignore the warning, press the big button "I'll be careful, I promise!
    3. In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
    4. In the search results, click browser.newtab.url , and then choose reset.

    Otherwise,.

    1. Custom installation tab.

    2. Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
    3. Next to the new custom label, click on the Options button.
    4. The value of any page you want to open in each new tab (topic: newtab is the value default; about: home is the default home page) and make sure that "Focus in the URL bar" is not checked.
  • Problem with the firefox browser

    Hi all

I use robohelp webhelp html, it works very well in Internet Explorer without any problem. When I use the same link in firefox I get empty popup with a few special characters('i') top left of the pop-up.

Please help me on this issue.

    Thank you

    Ismail.

    Welcome to the forum.

I had the same problem. That's what I have been told by the company that hosts my site. This is something for the guys of your IT to fix.

"I would therefore conclude that the solution to this problem (on Linux systems running Apache) is to add the directive AddDefaultCharset utf-8 on the site's .htaccess file or the Apache config. The advantage of the latter is that it affects only the individual sites. The Apache default character set comes from the file of locale on Linux and defaults to iso-8859-1. It is the conflict between the Apache header with iso-8859-1 and utf-8 character page, which obviously causes problems Firefox. »

In a post on the chrissy_tissy forum added

My machine is Windows, but this still worked correction - some notes on post-porn the fix:

    1. make the fix itself (httpd.conf: AddDefaultCharset utf-8).

    2. restart the box to apply the hotfix.

    3. once the box is restarted, clear your FireFox cache to ensure that you do not continue to see the cached file.

Once all this is done, you will see the contents of output as expected.

Your GPU list should look like this:

GeForce GTX 580... and so on.

  • I had a few problems with the search engines and history

My default search warning back to Yahoo after a reset on my computer. Close Firefox keep one to change but by restarting the computer, it takes.

I can't open the sidebar history. The option "view the history of your" opens its tab fine (the drop-down menu that says 'Show History Sidebar', 'clear recent history... ("ect.). But, when you click on the "Show History Sidebar", nothing comes. Can I use the "Show history" option, but the sidebar does not open for some reason any.

I just finished with a complete analysis of the Microsoft Safety Scanner and it said not that there is anything wrong. I have not reset the computer again to see if something has changed although after the factory reset (see the 2nd paragraph) it seems returned to Yahoo (search engine he kept going to happen).

I open the history tab in the menu of the toolbar, and everything seems fine here. I also had him always use private off all first browsing mode. After activating the option clear history when Firefox closes, I ended up having to reset to factory settings (things he saves were saved isn't really a problem) that doesn't seem to fix the problem with the sidebar of history not to come.

  • How can I stop Firefox to redirect me to the Yahoo search engine

When I try to go to the official site for ATF Cleaner, Firefox redirects me to the Yahoo search engine.
I have removed all references to Yahoo in my registry and searched all the user for any reference to Yahoo profiles. I am running Firefox version 29.0.1 on Windows XP.

It is also possible that this problem is due to an add-on, maybe one who snuck on your system as part of a bundle.

In the case where one of your extensions is concerned, could test the page Firefox Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Any difference?

  • Can I get the Firefox search bar for not automatically, go to the site of the search engine I spend?

The Firefox search bar seems to have changed since the last update. I understand that things are changing constantly and get used to them, but I wonder if it is possible to change the rear bar to the way it was, or at least understand why it changed.

Basically, I used to be able to switch from search engines by choosing from the drop-down list, and would not put me right at the site of this search engine. He didn't actually bring me to the site once I hit the search button (or enter). It's quite annoying to have to remember to open a new tab before changing search engines in order to avoid sailing away from the tab that you are currently on, and it's also annoying that when you open a new tab and change the search engines, you are immediately taken to the site of this search engine. It feels like an extra step (ranging from 'the empty tab search engine page to search result' instead of 'empty tab to search result').

I know it sounds like a minor complaint, no doubt, but I'm really really curious to know why it was changed. More important, I want to know if there is a way to customize the way it was.

    Thanks for any help!

Many users have been raising this issue. I mentioned the same question in this post here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1086138

In summary, it seems that the Firefox team is not intend to bring back the ability to return to the old bar search, which was possible (but in a very biased way) in older versions of 42. For now, you can either:

    • Download module additional classic restaurateur theme to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/?src=ss and then select the old search option
    • Go back to Firefox 42 and set the browser.search.showOneOffButtons property in Subject: config. However, with older versions poses a risk to the security that you won't have bug fixes provided with version 43
