  A week ago, I unplugged my external Seagate USB drive without using a 'Remove hardware safely' first of my Vista pc.  Since reconnecting the drive, I had a series of problems.  The drive itself seems to be ok.   I am able to read and write to files on the disk.  I'm not able to do is the following:

  (1) open disk management.  It hangs on "Connecting to Virtual Disk Service".

  (2) stopping or starting without windows to snap or take an extra long time to stop or start.

  (3) failed to start Google Picasa3 or Adoble Photoshop Elements 7.  They both hang him.  I am able to use other programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Miro, Norton Antivirus.

  Points 1 and 2 above work fine if the drive is not connected.  I plugged the drive into another computer (Windows 7) and ran Seagate disk checking utility.  He came clean back (no bad sectors) so that the drive is NOT corrupted.  (Check of the Seagate utility disk hung on my pc Vista.)   It seems that something related to the disk under Vista service is corrupted.

  I also see "driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk2\DR2." event message for different devices.  I also tried a restore to a point just before that the problem occurred.

  I don't want to reinstall Vista therefore looking for a solution.  Thank you.

  I have a Satellite Pro S200 and the same problem was with my camera. It s is not a hardware problem, it s more a driver related issue No. So, the best thing you can do is update your bios and keep your drivers up-to-date. Just check the download Drivers Toshiba site and make sure you have the latest drivers installed.

• Compatibility problem with Vista and iTunes

  I downloaded iTunes 9 on my Tobisha laptop Satellite last night and put about 2.5 GB of music on it. I didn't upload the music from the internet. I used MP3s, I had for a few years.

  When I went to boot up the laptop this morning the loading process took some time, but it never loaded to the login screen. I just see the bottom of MicroSoft. Is there a compatibility problem with Vista and iTunes? Maybe I put too much music on my laptop?

  Boot in safe mode and delete iTunes and all the music I downloaded would solve the problem? Or it is less simple than that?

  Don't know where to direct this question if any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  iTunes is compatible with Vista and there should not be any problem.
  Yesterday, I installed iTunes 9 on my U400 and everything happened correctly.
  If your laptop can not boot Vista correctly, then you should try the repair feature.

  Turn on the computer and press F8. Now you will see the advanced boot menu.
  Now, you have many choices.

  As a first step, you should try the option called: last good known Configuration (Advanced)

  If this will not help and the Vista will not start then try the option called repair your computer. This option displays a list of system recovery tools, you can use to repair startup problems, run diagnostics, or restore your system.

  If that does not help, then you will need to retrieve the unit using the Toshiba recovery disc or HARD drive recovery.

All the pre 10.11.2 device works fine.  Anyone else having issues?  I have to disconnect and reconnect manually.  WiFi drops every 5 to 10 minutes.  Nothing has changed on the machine something of the update.

  Please do not comment on the age of the system.  Achieve a Mid 2011 arrived at a possible replacement point.  I have many other new Mac at home.  The Mid 2011 is spec'd with 16 GB of RAM, i7 and SSD.  It's always very fast.

  There are a few things to try. Keep doing this until the problem disappears.

  First of all, if you have not already, shut down the computer completely, wait about 1 minute, then restart.

  Disconnect the wifi network either via system preferences, either by pressing the "Option" key and clicking on the wifi menu bar icon.

  Reset the DHCP lease by going to system preferences > network and show Advanced Options, and then click the button to "Renew the DHCP lease" TCP/IP tab.

  You can delete the wifi network of system preferences > network > network name... then close system preferences. Then reopen and add the network in.

  You can also restart your wifi router, it erases the old connections. Most of the routers you just turn off and wait a few minutes, then restart. You can also reset your ISP modem if you have a.

  Finally, you can try to reset the PRAM and SMC on your Mac. I'll get this info here on Apple Support KBs for your particular Mac.

  Be sure to back up your computer.

  I did a "clean and reinstall" on Vista 32 bit Home Premium machine due to problems of registry after a "System Mechanic" install.  The reinstallation of Vista went well so I started to download and install all updates for the computer.   Everything downloaded and installed fine until I got to SP1 (KB 936330).  Windows Update tells me that the installation was successful, but when I click with the left button on computer then check properties that SP1 does not appear in the description "windows edition".  I installed the update several times and get the same results.  Windows updates always tells me to install the same update (SP1) and when I look through the history it States successfully 4 times.  When I look at control panel-programs-uninstall a program - and discovers a part of the update uninstall, update SP1 is not listed.   I missed something?  Help, please.

  I had problems with start-up since Norton updated and re-printing my subscription a few days ago.  Initially, the splash screen would freeze, I'll try to re-start, only to be refrozen.  After several attempts, with different amounts of time in between, I tried to start a 'normal', but are also intended to "launch fix."  Microsoft solution is to go back to "settings" before the new and improved Norton Security has been installed.  "Norton isn't too happy with this solution, warning: your firewall is disabled, you are vulnerable to all viruses known to humanity" and Norton resets security and the volley continues.  At some point, the screen may freeze, and I have to start all over again.  Had my Vista Home premium SP1 and SP2 installed this past year, patches and I have had no problems since, so far.  If anything is not easy? The pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.  The garbage man comes tomorrow, I'm tempted to put my computer out of the trash.  Help. Please, I beg you.

  Boot safe mode with networking.  Download the following tool and run a full scan to exclude the malware.  If the system is infected, Norton will be compromised and would not be able to detect malware.

  Reboot - still problems with startup?  Uninstall Norton - use the uninstaller to remove all traces.  Restart your system and reinstall the software.

The behavior of the application has changed after my OS has been repaired. Then after that I indicated HP where I found information on this program, the program disappear from the list of "run without permissions" in internet options explore > manage add-ons > run without the permissions list

  5. one day, I'm working on a word document, and the printer stops abruptly, impression. No amount of turn, or by clicking 'Cancel' will get doc from the printer queue. MS literature said this could be a security issue. The printer says "printing of documents", but no printing at my end.

I'll follow the instructions you sent me and am running the OneCare security right now, online scanner that I already know an excellent and effective tool because it has repaired my MS operating system and programs after that I accidentally deleted parts of the operating system by removing a .dll file, I need or such a thing! I also wanted to thank you for the information about the object of the HP SDP pop-up window. I saved your instructions on how to remove this case, the pop up appears again. One thing I noticed is that, after removal, some keys on my keyboard don't work, and I've read that other HP users encounter the same problem with the keys on the keyboard. The keys that seem to be affected are the keys that automatically open and close the door of the CD burner. Not a problem, because it is another way to open and close the drawer. It's one that HP must improve. In regards to your advice on the printer driver you have been 'right on' new! I reinstalled the driver using my own CD (not the latest driver, but one that works!) I think that the problem with the update of the Samsung driver that I downloaded from the Web site doesn't have some kind of problem. It is very unusual for a driver to Samsung, because I got excellent results with printers Samsung and free updates downloaded from their Web site.
