ProBook 430 G3: cannot find the sata setting in bios

Hi, I bought a G3 Probook with FreeDos preinstalled

The config includes i5-6200U and 128 GB SSD

I am trying to install Win 7 64 bit and when it starts on the USB drive and I select language and click on install it keeps listening on CD/DVD not detected and suggests to load the driver - it seems that it can't detect the internal SSD flash drive

I looked in the forums and recommended to find the setting of SATA - IDE/AHCI, but I could not locate in the BIOS... the version of bios is 01.03

Any ideas how I can do Windows Installer detects my internal SSD?

Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I tried to use diskpart during installation and he did not see the SSD drive, so I guess that the DIF is with smth else... Please help, I am completely stressed because it's totally new laptop

FOUND THE SOLUTION

It seems that the problem was with USB 3.0 - for some reason drivers any, that none of the 3 ports did not run as 2.0 (())

So I downloaded the driver and copied package on the SSD, and when prompet during the installation he merely indicated to the place with the drivers - worked well. Hope this helps someone as well

The material is a system of handcrafted with Intel DQ35JO Council, latest version of the BIOS, Intel E6850 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, 2 SATA drives.  I know this isn't on the list compatible but is a 'white box '.  I installed ESXi 3.5 on it in the past and got it working, and I saw other success stories with this Board/CPU.  Yes, I have activated the virtualization mode in the BIOS and powered down/up.

    Here is what I tried:

-Redownload VMware-VMvisor-Installer - 4.1.0 - 260247.x86_64.iso to ensure that it was not corrupt (2 copies, against perfectly)

--Also tried another drive (IDE) CDROM

-Created a bootable USB using uNetBootin 4.7.1 and booted from it

-Switched SATA setting in the BIOS from AHCI to IDE

I get the same exact error.  I searched here and everywhere and don't find any reference to this error.

Help - all do you offer for my next step?

Have you had a previous vSphere installed on your system?

I had the same error on my 'white box' (in fact, it is black).  I used to run esxi 4.0 (u2) on my Acer X 3300 (6 GB, Quad Core AMD Athlon II).  Controllor internal SATA is not supported, but it allows me to use the box for normal windows task and ESXi is sitting on a SDHC 4 GB flash card.

When I started my freshly burned ESX4.1 cdrom, I got the same error.   I thought that the fact that maybe there was an existing install on my destination drive (the flash memory card), and that the CD could not perform an upgrade.

So, I tried the upgrade path (first trying to utility of the host and the .xml error message).  After reading the manual, I did the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 using the device of vMA and I must say that esxi 4.1 works great on my white box.

Then I suggest that you try upgrading and see how far that gets you.

Good luck (and a beautiful weekend)

Help, please. There is very little out there on ESXi 4. Even a pointer to VMware documentation with a list of error messages and their meaning/solutions would be helpful (unable to find such a list myself).

I had the same problem that others are with the start-up for the drives. I went with the USB boot and it works very well because it has an internal USB port, it works even better because I'm not burn an external port. I use an older version of BIOS that does not start USB ports have enough fast for the key USB is recognized from a cold start *bummer* but not a big deal. Once this is done, I'm off the coast and run very well.

I would recommend going this way until someone comes up with a better alternative, which I would be interested in doing.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) (including free evaluation versions are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself.) If NIS has been installed for 3 years, you have NIS update at least once and maybe twice (e.g., NIS 2009 > NIS 2010 > NIS 2011).

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) viaControl Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of NIS 2011 (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

    7. manually and repeatedly run LiveUpdate (Norton) until you get a prompt "no update more".

    8. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737 & run the difficulty.

    9. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run that set it by DEFAULT and modes and AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    Hi KAD Rebar,.

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. Are you having similar problem with all the files you are trying to move or remove it from the computer?
    4. You have security software installed on the computer?

    Method 1

See the link below and run the Fixit tool available, check if it helps.

Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_file_and_folder_diag/

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

If the problem does not persist in safe mode, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

That's good news. I think you also need to analyze of rootkits being on the right side. So, now:

Search for rootkits with a program SPECIALLY designed to detect and remove the (aswMBR):

Download this file to your desktop. Double-click the icon to run the program. When the opportunity to download and install the latest Avast definitions do.
Run a scan. Results in red indicate that this was not a false positive! Do you need to remove the rootkit (including "FixMBR" if necessary).

And finally, leave your PC on overnight and search for viruses, using this site:
Once we are convinced that your PC is clean, here are my instructions (just in case where you still cannot run batch of Geek-Tech file, etc.):

    1. download the installation of SP3 and IE8 (beforehand) files. I prefer to keep these (and other useful files) on a USB key, but this is optional. Here are the links for the installation files:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?ID=24 (for SP3)

(You can TOTALLY ignore the message "intended for it professionals"!)

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=43 (for IE8)

(You need to install IE8 AFTER SP3! Trust in me.)

    IMPORTANT NOTE!

It is VERY important to ensure that Internet Explorer is at the level IE6 before installing SP3. In case you have IE7 or IE8, you must uninstall it / them, using the Control Panel Add / Remove programs. Let us know if you need assistance with this.

    Once again:

Make sure that IE is IE6 level before installing SP3. You can go directly from IE6 to IE8 after SP3 has been installed.

    2. disconnect Internet. Also unplug all unnecessary devices.

    3. temporarily disable the automatic updates. To do this:

Start | Control Panel (switch to Classic view if not already selected). Automatic updates

4 set up a clean boot. The last thing you need is for a program that runs in the background to interfere with these updates! (It happens!) For more information:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

(Note that this is the same as setting up a "Diagnostic boot.")

    Reset.

5 install the SP3. Restart TWICE.

6 switch to IE8. Restart TWICE.

(What happens very often is that someone has their software antivirus running as they try to install SP3, which often translates into chaos! "This is why it must be done after installing SP3 and IE).

7 unscrew the clean boot. (That is, return to the Normal startup).

8 make sure that firewall Windows is activated (it should already be):

Start | Control Panel | Security Center

9 visit Windows Update to download and install only the critical security updates. Restart each time you are prompted.

10 re - enable automatic updates.

For problems to explore, which has nothing to do with this post, try this (which covers almost any problem).

    Explorer

Explorer (explorer.exe) is the program that is the start menu and taskbar, windows folder and the office (which is a folder window).

To see if a fix is available

In Control Panel (and select Classic discovered in the left pane) select reports on the problems and Solutions (problem of type in the START search box), go to historical problem, right-click of your error and choose check for the Solution.

You can also right-click and choose Details for more information. Post these details here. The name of the Module fault is important information.

If the problem affects Panel press the Windows key + R and type wercon (or type it at a command prompt).

Close the browser and start a command prompt

    • Close Windows Explorer
    • Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator.
    • Click Start. Ctrl + Shift + Right-click on an empty spot (just above the power of buttons is one place) then Exit Explorer.

An error has occurred. The following information can help you resolve the error:)

The drive cannot find the sector requested:

I've looked everywhere for this problem... need help :)

    Hello

    1. have you done any software or hardware changes on your computer before this problem?
    2. have you checked with another DVD drive?
    3. using the Windows backup feature to backup?
4 do you have third-party backup programs installed on your computer?

To work on the issue, refer to these methods.

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

If it's a DVD I suggest trying to backup to an external hard drive and check to see if you get any errors.

    Step 2:

Temporarily disable the antivirus software and check if you are able to perform the backup.

    Caution:
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

I suggest you check for errors of hard disk on the drive you want to back up.

NOTE: the steps also apply to Windows Vista
