ProBook 440 G2: RAM Upgrade will void the warranty?

Hello

After a lot of dilemma, I buy THISlaptop.

My main concern is the "on-site 5-year guarantee" it comes with.

This laptop has now only 4 GB of RAM. I want to add an another 4 GB myself.

In doing so, it will take Bay opening to service the laptop.

Open myself for a RAM upgrade will void the warranty?

In addition, no one knows how much total RAM this computer supports? How many slots is there?

The page of the product didn't.

I tried to contact HP technical support by email, and I have to enter a serial number to reach them. I entered the serial number of my laptop current (and also a probook), but I think that the agent did not read my email properly. Instead of answering my question, he sent me a link to extend the warranty on my laptop today.

Thank you...

Hello

According to the Manual, it has 2 slots:

See Page 2, 3, 47, 48, to get the instructions before and during the replacement process. Even if it is a simple procedure if you do not have confidence in replacement, it gives to the HP service center, they will do it for you. Opening the door to service memory will not void the warranty - but if you daamage something in the replacement process, it will void the warranty.

Please get the exact configuration and preference of the same brand (like this one in the slot) of RAM, mentioned in the manual.

You can run this toolto know the details of the installed RAM sticks & moving forward with the purchase of od sizes appropriate sticks needed to make it to 8 GB in total.

Adil is correct. The RAM and hard drive are considered "replaceable consumer units", which means Lenovo allows not only, but expect end users to manage any updates of these components by themselves.

  • XP installation will void the warranty

    Hello

I hope I am in the right place to ask this question - find info on the Toshiba site is not very easy! I am looking to buy a laptop Toshiba with Vista preloaded, but want to partition the drive and put XP on the partition as a dual boot. What I need to know is, this will void the international guarantee? Or where can I find?

    Hope you can help!

    Thank you

Don t worry buddy. Installation of all applications, programs, software and other operating systems will not void the warranty.
I recommend that you first create a new partition in Windows Vista, and then you could try to reinstall Win XP on the new partition.

  • Star Wars h.e. 15-an000nl: optical drive Swap with a ssd will void the warranty?

    Hi all

I am a proud new owner of this machine, and since it comes with a 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM and I am also a happy owner of an SSD, I was wondering if the optical drive with the ssd Exchange void my warranty?

I read a little the other q / a and I see that if I try to reach the drive, with all the screws and the cover plastic to raise, I'll probably end by unsecured (actually is not very clear if it's for sure or I'll use a ssd tested non hp...) and since then to remove the optical drive , I just remove a screw, buy an adapter and you're good to go...

So my question is: what limits should I beyond the warranty for you? It's just the opening action itself, or there is more?

And since I write here, optical drive sata port is a sata3 as (I hope) the hard disk it is? Would you recommend this operation?

Thanks in advance for any assistance received...

The optical drive is an authorized user of replacement so you can put an SSD in an optical caddy and will not void the warranty but I do not recommend: 1. the interface is slower; and 2. You cannot start it. Unfortunately, access to the internal hard drive space is verboten and may void the warranty. We can speculate and say if it's done well, nobody would know and likely HP won't guarantee, but we can get official word on this, so the smartest thing is to assume the worst. If you don't care the guarantee and want just your laptop to be quick, we are happy to help you with the understanding that you risk the warranty.

The it Department at my job have an image they put on work computers. We rent a new designer and they refuse to buy a new computer because they state that their image can be put on a new mac comes with El Capitan.

If you ask if they can just roll back the OS X in Yosemite, they said that this could void the warranty on the machine. Does anyone know if it's done?

You should not use an OS more old than what the computer shipped with.

  • Adding a new power supply will void the warranty

    Hello

I would like to replace the power supply 350w comes with the HP Pavilion p6-2378.  I have a 500w I'd replace it with.  Will this void my warranty?  This is the standard of 1 year.  I do that so that I can put a secondary graphics (AMD Radeon 4650 [assuming there is enough electricity to 500w?]) and take advantage of the GPU power and additional outputs. Then, would it be making void my warranty?

    Thank you

Upgrade your PC with approved HP and parts supplied will not void your warranty.

However, if you upgrade your PC with parts that are not approved HP and HP determines that the changes caused failure HP is not required to honor the warranty.

Some PC outside the United States are delivered with seals and if broken the warranty is voided.  I have yet to see the seals on the PC of American consumers.

  • Keyboard replacement will void the warranty

    Hi all!

I was redirected by an HP sales representative, who could not inform me on the support forums...

    Here's the thing:

I'm going to buy a new laptop in the online store we HP. I asked sales representatives if I can have the opportunity to replace the American for a Portuguese keyboard layout keyboard layout. The answer is NO, because HP is an American online store and such, it only sells products the U.S. market (obviously with a U.S. keyboard), and they advised me to shop at the Portugal...

Well, the problem is that I use the computer in the United States, which has different electrical outlets and different voltages. Thus, the purchase of the laptop to the Portugal is meaningless for me...

What I need is a cell phone US with a Portuguese keyboard. How can it be, right? Fake! It turns out that this simple change will be difficult and perhaps impossible to obtain. At least by the online store...

It seems that my only option is to buy the Portuguese keyboard separately and install it myself. That said, my question is simple:

Will be the replacement of the keyboard on a new portable laptop computer warranty void?

If so, what are the options I have?

    I thank you all.

    Kind regards

    JPN

    Hello:

Why you can not buy the PC to the Portugal and ordered a US power cord that goes from the power supply?

The power supplies are all the same, no matter where you live.

Check the service manual for the laptop specific you want and order the power supply cord to the United States.

Confirm what I said is correct before ordering (see Service Manual).

I don't know of all computers laptops where you can buy a different PSU.

If you don't know where to find this info, please provide the full model number of the computer you want to buy.

  • Msata ssd in X 230 installation will void the warranty?

    Hello

the guy at my local store campus told me that installing an msata ssd in a X 230 me would, of course, void my warranty. Is this really true? Many people seem to install themselves, and the ssd is indeed a YEAR for X 220. On the other hand, in accordance with the X 230 Hardware Maintenance Manual, this no longer seems to be the case...

    Stephan

    Hey there, strava,.

If the HMM said that the part is a FRU, and then replace the part on your own, will indeed, null your guarantee.

  • Installation new ssd will void the warranty?

Installation new ssd will present instead drive the warranty? Thank you

According to the Manual of Maintenance of disk hard is not a CRU (CRUS by), which indicates that the client is not allowed to exchange the item, hoever I'd probably as davidteyuwang suggests above.

Disclaimer clause; I do not work for Lenovo.

  • Upgrade the hard disk on Tecra M9 will void the warranty?

    Hello

I want to upgrade the hard drive on a Tecra M9 120 GB to a 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K 200 hard drive SATA 3 GB/s. The coverage still apply for the Tecra after this upgrade?

    Kind regards

    charlieMOGUL

Upgrading the HARD drive would not affect the validity of the guarantee.

But I'm not sure on the size 200 GB HARD drive the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all dimensions are supported. If the HARD disk is too big, the BIOS would not recognize the new HARD disc.

The problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any information on HARD drive sizes possible.
I think that you should just look at it

If you have tested this HARD drive, please report it here in the forum I m very interesting if the 200 GB would run properly.

    Good bye

  • Beta software will void the warranty?

I'm curious to know if the beta like iOS 9.3.2 Beta 3 software could cause warranty cancellation since I want to use a large number of features, even on a personal phone.

If you sign up for the beta program and get a profile and an official link from Apple, it will be OK. If you get a pirated version, you have a high probability of bricking your phone and lose all support from Apple, as well as the risk of getting infected with spyware version.

Also note that Apple would highly recommend not installing software in beta on the primary device. Remember that "beta" is the abbreviation of 'beta test', which means that it is known that there are bugs, and releasing a beta aims to get a wider audience identifies these bugs. If there are no bugs in it, it would not be a beta, it would be a GA release.
