I have a nice 4440 S Probook I bought at a very reasonable price. I upgraded the CPU of the i3 - 3110M for an i7 quad-3632QM stock and factory 4 GB of memory has been upgraded to a 8 GB faster and bigger. That said, I'd LOVE to upgrade the (in my opinion), ended ugly mast of 1366 X 768 display a brilliant 1600 X 900 better, brighter display. I intend to buy a display of 1600 X 900 and the corresponding display of Probook 6470 B cable. The obvious question: will it work?
BTW, it has the standard Intel HD4000 graphic chip. Help!

I did recently on my HP ProBook 450 G2 Kubuntu Linux 15.10 running.
A new version of the BIOS (01.16 Rev.A 1 December 2015) was available, but for Windows only.
What I had to do to install the BIOS under Linux:
* Download the exe file (for example: sp74048.exe): this is an archive
* unpack with 7zip
* go to my laptop configuration: restart, press [ESC] >
Configuration of the BIOS F10 > MAIN > system update BIOS > BIOS update using local media
* read the instructions:
"Place the system on a FAT32 partition no BIOS BIN file more
on the system or on a removable USB hard drive
under the folder "Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New.
Then, add or verify that the HP Bios update utility (HpBiosUpdate.efi)
and the signature file (HpBiosUpdate.s12) are
on the same partition FAT32 under
the path to the following folder: "Hewlett-Packard\BIOSUpdate. »

I have a laptop HP ProBook 4440 S. I have also two monitors - one HP1740 and a HP LA2405. I want to set up two monitors using the laptop. The graphics card can conduct both monitors? If so, I have to use an HDMI cable with a DVI - D connector to plug into the LA2405. I would like to use the D-15 standard cable to connect the 1740. If it works, I would be able to stretch the 1740 Office, or would they have to be distributed as two separate screens?

The ProBook s 4440 (technical Quickspecs at http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/14306_na/14306_na.pdf) can support 2 outputs video or 2 external (hdmi and vga) or LCD and 1 external. Even if HP does not support dvi hdmi adapters, they are available and seem a bit cheap, so can be purchased to test. Both hdmi and vga ports are usable

The days of being able to change RAM in BIOS went Bye Bye a few years ago. It was back in the day.
You can't make changes to the video RAM settings in BIOS.
You can reduce the resolution if you want to increase performance in a menu of own game options, but at a cost of resolution.

ProBook 4440 s cleanly put to upgrade to 8.1 Windows overheating 64bits
I took my Probook s 4440 which comes preinstalled with windows 7 64 bit (2 years ago) use it with an SSD in the last 8 months.
A week ago I did the following:
1. open Notepad
2 - took the time to thoroughly clean all vents and fans. almost no dust was found.
3 - do you have a clean install of Windows MS 8.1 64bits.
4 installed MS Office bloatware and other applications.
5 - installed 'certain' HP utilities like power plan a selected balanced both plugged and unplugged
Since I upgraded to 8.1, I noticed that the computer overheats to the point if freezes or slow down.
As for the fan, I noticed that the fan starts at random (or not) when the computer is overheating.
I noticed that the overheating starting on hard drive (to the left of the mouse pad)
If I put my hand on the left vents, I can feel the hot air coming out.
No, its not heavy CPU usage. Sometimes, the laptop is slow but hot.
Questions
Can what spare parts I use to replace the fan with a greater RPM?
How can I control the fan to be always on (I really don't mind a bit of noise in order to save my investment)
Am I missing some HP software that will control the overheating?
I see that HP has no fan control application and internet tools such as SpeedFan seem not to be able to manage the fan.
It's a workbook perfectly. Suggestions are welcome.

Personally, I would go back to windows 7, windows 8 - 8.1 has a lot of problems & bad drivers.

I had Windows 8 on my ProBook 4440 s... reinstalled the operating system with Windows 7 family (64-bit).
Since the reinstallation I don't have drivers for my wireless network card... can't seem to find them online. Have you tried several Aetheros Netwrok drivers from the HP site, but may not be the right ones b/c I get the message "' 802.11a/b/g/n Wireless adapter not found device: the device may not be present or could have been ejected/disconnected from the system" "

4440S proBook: drivers missing "Base system device" of 4440S
Hello, I recently made a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit on a Probook 4440 S.
I went into Device Manager to install the missing drivers. I'm missing two drivers and I was unsuccessful driver update by using the option "Search automatically for updated driver software" on the tab in properties.
I searched online by using the values of LDS of material on the Details tab, but links in other posts were most valuable. Can someone help me?

Another think I tried to do a fresh install of windows 7 and it showed no hard drive to install the windows... at the moment there is nothing else that I can find... you guys have an idea? Help, please!

ProBook 4440S missing TOO MANY DRIVERS after installing Windows 7 Home Premium repair
Hello I had to reinstall Windows after a hacker locked my system. I had not had the unit for a long time, so don't lose tons of files or important data. (Yay!) But, I had not had the time to really get to know my system either... so now I have the new number to try to determine what the material is that is not recognized.
I thought I'd come to hp.com, find my drivers to download and DO. Instead, I ask help in the identification of "devices", OR to be pointed in a direction that could help me get there? (When I got to the driver download page and seen everything there was to choose from - this is when I'm here!)(HP ProBook 4440 S under WIndows Home Premium 34 bit)

There may be several model HP wireless cards installed in your laptop, so I can't post just the driver for the controller network without more information.

Hi, I have a 4440 s HP's Probook and I'm a little confused as to what UC my cell phone is compatible with. My question is to understand the type of socket. I found sources that my laptop has a G2 cpu socket that has something (that I can't fully grasp) to do with PGA988. I would buy an Intel Core i5 3380 M if possible, but it is listed as being for socket PGA988. Is this compatible with laptop CPU? I know that G2 and PGA988 socket are related in a certain way and they might be the same, but I can not find a concrete source that says that it is
