  • When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) comes in,

I redid my computer a few months ago restore to factory settings and restore my files from a backup disk. Everything seemed to work properly.  A few weeks ago a full scan found a worm & some virus which I removed. Now, I have a problem with the updates. When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) arrives.  When I click to install it, it is saying it is correctly installed (in 30 seconds) and yet he continues to come when I'm scanning for updates.    Should I restore settings again?  After looking for info on the forums of windows, I did the System File Checker to check corrupt files.  Several corrupted files appear in the details of the SFC.  But their fixation is "over my head".   I glued the SFC details below. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

How to troubleshoot Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack installation issues

    Hope this information helps.

  • For Windows Vista, Service Pack 1 will not completely install.

On Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 - bit system, trying to update Explorer 7, that no longer works, to Explorer 9, which requires SP1 (KB936330) and SP2 as required components.  I use Windows Update method, Guard sent me with Service Pack 1 (KB936330) to update.  However, I do, and then he said it will take about an hour and do not use my computer.  I do this but in a few minutes 'complete' and said "completed successfully."  I have now more than a finished SP1 (KB936330) entry on my page in the history of the update, BUT does not appear under installed updates, so it seems that's not install completely.  Why?  How should I fill this out so I can go on installing SP2, then Explorer 9?

    Hi Joy,.

Let us work together to solve this problem.

During the installation of Windows Vista SP1, this problem occurs when a third-party application holds open a file or locks a file that the Service Pack installer should use. For example, an application third-party antivirus or antispyware may cause this problem. I suggest you temporarily uninstall any antivirus software and check if you are able to install the service pack. Please do not forget to reactivate once the process is complete.

Method 1: Alternatively, you can reset Windows Update components.

How to reset the Windows Update components?

Method 2: I ask that you download and run the system update readiness tool and check if you are able to install the service pack.

    The system update tool

Try these steps and let me know the status.

    Method 1.

I suggest you follow the steps in this article.

Whenever I try to update Vista Svc Pack2, she says that it has completed successfully. When restarting the laptop he spends 1 out of 3 in which the 1 configuration ends then start the 2nd and gets 1%, it restarts again and comes back with an error message. I have to shut down the computer and then the computer performs a check to boot. Before you try to download the Pack of Svc 2, I have no questions, now my taskbar in the taskbar volume goes down by itself, it does not play any disk, cannot download attachments (adobe), among other things. According to me, trying to download Service Pack 2, it has corrupted systems as if it has a virus. Please can someone help me with this, it's very annoying.

  • Update for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - > Error_SXS_Component_Store_Corrupt (0 x 80073712)

    Hello

I have a problem upgrading to SP2 on Vista:
    the error is Error_SXS_Component_Store_Corrupt (0 x 80073712).

I found two solutions, the two didn t work on:

    1. I have donwloaded and installed '-l' system tool "(947821). -> no problem. It solves the problem mentioned above.
    2. I've done sfc/scannow, we found problems, but he could not solve them. I saved the CBS, if it is somehow useful.

Please help me, would be much appreciated!

    Hi Dillinja,

If all the listed troubleshooting steps do not resolve the problem, you can follow the steps described in this document to perform an InPlace upgrade. It is an alternative to a complete reinstallation.

    Hello

Error code 80070490 claims a repair upgrade install, not an uninstall and clean reinstall.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-error-80070490

If you receive the Windows Update 80070490 error, it means that a file (CBS Manifest) that is needed to install updates is corrupt. To correct this problem, you will need repair Windows. Repair Windows will not damage your personal files or the programs that are installed on your computer.

Have you tried the other option for system update readiness tool in the link I just gave you?

The System Update Readiness Tool for Windows can correct some conditions that cause Windows Update 80070490 error. You can access and run this tool by reading this Knowledge Base article on the Microsoft Web site.

And you need a DVD of Vista from Microsoft to do a repair installation upgrade according to the instructions, NOT the normal manufacturer's recovery disks.

You will need to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD from a friend or working knowledge.

Here's how a repair upgrade installation:

"How to perform a repair for Vista Installation"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And if you can't get a loan from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you may need to do a reinstall of Vista:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
