product key validation

is it possible to validate a product key xp from one computer other than the computer that you are trying to validate?

"bpa0811" wrote in message News: db69-f97c4691-444c - 8fc 4-a03f5d149e81...

This is where my problem was... the sticker on the Tower indicates that it is for xp home edition, but when checked system properties it says xp pro. This is the reason why I ran jelly bean, who also says xp pro. I guess the key for xp pro would be the right from the computer was xp top pro and the oem disc, I got also was xp pro. When I enter the product key during the installation stage, it gives me an error message of invalid code.

You are unable to activate XP Pro with a XP Home Key - and your machine is only allowed to run XP Home (unless you have a upgrade disk and key as well).
You will need to reformat/reinstall with a XP Home genuine disc (BAKC UP YOUR DATA FIRST!) ...
If you use a disk XP Home with SP3, then you can install by using the default key and then use the product key update tool to change the key for that on your sticker.
Otherwise, you will need to acquire the proper recovery of the manufacturer disks set, or find someone with an OEM System Builder for XP Home Edition disk (with the MS fancy hologram and the words "to be installed on a new PC only" in the hologram) and borrow it - then install all the drivers and updates.

  • Pavilion x 2: Windows product key Validation after hardware change (new SSD)

I have a Pavilion laptop x 2 with a 64 GB SSD.  It came with Windows 8.1 but he now works Windows 10 - of course.  I decided to upgrade the 256 GB SSD.  I bought the appropriate module (a Sandisk).  I recently contacted Windows support to inquire about the procedure to validate the OS once I did the material exchange.  I wasn't sure how it would work since my x 2 Pavilion has incorporated into BIOS product key.  Microsoft told me that because I was going to do a hardware change I would need a new product key (in other words my laptop current product key would be 'blocked').  I was able to recover the product key of my Pavilion x 2 (OEM and installed keys - what is the difference?).

Does anyone have experience in this field?  Once I have replace the SSD and perform a clean install Windows 10, will be the key to product embedded BIOS validate operating system or it will reject?  Since I'm NOT buying a HP SSD (with preloaded operating system) and that my x 2 Pavilion is now long out of warranty?  I really have to pay over a hundred dollars for a new Windows operating system license?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

    Francis

Parameters indicate that I have a digital right so with a bit of luck when I change the SSD and install Windows 10, the machine must validate without a qualm.  I tried to see if I could link my Validation of my Microsoft account but I did not have this option on my settings (although in the past when I re-install Windows 10, link validation of my Microsoft account operating system so I guess it works.)  Also, I guess I have the anniversary edition from my machine updated automatically.

If all else fails, I'll see how it goes after the SSD upgrade and if I have to deal with Microsoft.  I also agree with you that change the SSD (essentially the ' drive') is NOT a significant change in equipment and shall not impose a new product key, but then, nothing surprises me more.

Your tips were helpful and I thank you.

  • Receive information that all of a sudden my product key valid once for Windows XP Professional is no longer valid.

I bought a computer ZT Club of Sam in 2009 for our church with operating system Windows XP Professional and upgrade disc optional in Windows Vista. Now, I get an error message that my Windows XP Professional software is not valid.  I entered the key to product on the side of the tower to validate online, tried to validate by phone and am unable to do so.  I need help and fast because we were preparing to assign to this computer to our Secretary financial to use next week after having bought a new computer, ZT, who will arrive Friday of next week.  I also bought the 3 years extended warranty with this computer at the time of purchase and it is supposed to be still under warranty.  We are not able to use any software installed and have misplaced the XP disk even though we have the Vista upgrade disc, but our software is not compatible, that is why we never did the upgrade.  We are a small church and cannot afford to buy Windows XP again.

I bought an upgrade to windows xp for many years with a valid product key, but recently I had rebuilt my computer and reinstalled windows xp.  Under the limit of 30 for actiavtion, I entered my product key and it was invalid, I called microsoft and gave them 9 blocks of 5 digits, and they were able to activate my product.  When I spoke to a representative, they confirmed that my product key is valid, but they were unable to help me activate my windows OS, except for fees of $ 59.  The second option was to write an email through this site.  Please, if possible give me instructions on how can I activate my product key.  Thank you, Kevin Martin

I ring back again and get an operator who actually knows what they are doing - XP is still supported for activation problems, regardless of the level of MS, if I understand correctly.
Your problem seems to be that you have installed a version update of XP without having anything to upgrade? (I don't think that was possible).
Try to install the missing Service Packs - any attempt activation again.

  • Windows 7 product key valid and active but has not updated PK on computer

I managed to install Windows 7 as a dual boot on an ancient tower XP I have upgared by adding the SSD with W7 installed while XP is on the old partition C.

The product key has been entered and validated successfully and I've been able to pre-order Windows 10, which is the ultimate goal

My question is the Prouct Key on the computer is always the old XP number is this OK, or will I run into problems of 30 days?

Product keys are unique for the version and edition of Windows.

You need to rephrase the last question.

I dual-boot with another edition of Windows, update will affect other facility?

No, it will not affect the other operating system, only the version of Windows from which the upgrade is initiated will be replaced.

In 30 days, Windows 7 will make an attempt to connect to the Internet activation. Afterwards, it prompts you whenever you connect, to activate.

  • Product key valid not recognized during installation.

How to approach with a clean install of Windows 7 Professional on my laptop after a disk failure hard and replacement when the software tells me that the product key is not valid?  It's the same one I used as the program was purchased online directly from Microsoft?  The product key has been verified since the original email from Microsoft that have accompanied the purchase online.  The product key entry has been tried several times and verified as having been entered correctly.  However, the problem remains.

In any case, if you did replace a hard drive, you don't have a new license or product key!

If a person returned frequently, he or she will receive a message asking them to call a phone number. If this is your situation, just do it and follow the instructions.

It will be something like this:

  • / boot/error bcd - W7 installed since ISO - no pre-installed product key valid when used

    Hello

I have a laptop HP dv6-6138 NR, 64 bit, Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed OA edition. Last week, my computer crashed after installing Flash HD and showed the mistake \boot\bcd 0xc0000225 error.

I couldn't do a system recovery, because there was no image that is spent on the computer that I went for a clean install with the repair disc I had created. Measures desperate - and downloaded an ISO of W7 to the MSFT forum file and went used imgburner to burn it to a DVD.

Then, to restart my laptop with this DVD in the installed Windows CD with my existing windows file that is stored in a folder called "windows.old". Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the same product key as it was at the bottom of the laptoop. So, I jumped by giving the product key (I'll be ok for 30 days, I guess).

Now, I ordered a set of HP recovery disk. What should I do now to recover my factory settings on? Should I format the drive and it run the new recovery disc, I will get?

    Please advise...

    Hello

    You are welcome

Yes, that would explain why the key does not work - you can use it on the version of Windows that came with your laptop (ie you can upgrade or downgrade the version).

HP recovery discs should work fine and activation will be automatic.

A downloadable ISO for Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit is on the following link.

    http://MSFT.digitalrivercontent.NET/win/X17-59007.ISO

If using the image above, enter your activation key when prompted - you will always very probably use the 'method of phone' to complete activation.

OK guys, I'm all set, my sense of humor is back :) It took MS technical support some time (which made me feel less stupid) and they had to make a new key. It seems that when changes are made to certain machines that I upgraded was a Compaq Evo bios conflict there, it seems to be more prevalent in the 2002 version of XP Pro OEM.

Microsoft taken care of once I found the right number to call, so everything is good again. Thanks for your replies.

  • How long a CS6 product key is valid?

Earlier this year, I received as a gift a copy of the retail CS6 Master Collection for Windows that came with the product key (serial number). I him have not installed yet on any computer. How long in the future is this product key valid? Can I install this copy CS6 a year or two from now? This product key will still be valid at that time here or does it have a time limit? Wil I be able to activate it after installation in the future?

I realize that Adobe does not support the CS6, no updates, but the question is not whether I want to go to the creative cloud subscription. The question is how long can I expect the CS6 installation.

Please respond to the isakten@hotmail .com

    Thank you.

CS6 serial number will be valid as long as the Adobe servers used to activate the product are still running.  In other words, CS6 products obtained the perpetual license and they are valid as long as you want to use.

It is interesting you want to use for another year or two.  The reasons for this?  In two years, we could have a completely different technology so that you can use the new technology rather than the old.

Anyway you should be fine in two years.

    Good luck.

  • Product key invalid

I have a count that I am reformatting. When I put in the product key provided with your computer Windows tells me that it is an invalid key. The computer is like 12 years old but why is no product key valid?

    The Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010300.3.0.hom

The installed OS is Windows XP Home - where you get the idea that it is XP Pro?

What KeyFinder did you use? -It maybe isn't able to cope with SP3, which has a new slice of available keys, including the default key is a.

I didn't realize how old your machine was - it was built and probably sold prior to the release of SP2, and I suspect it's the bat injured - some old keys cannot be used in an installation of SP3, SP3 can be installed on active systems. (or at least, so I said)

If you have access to an XP Home OEM SP2 disk, you should be able to use it for installation - RTM or SP1 would work also.

If you have a retail XP Home RTM/SP1/SP2 disc with a key, then you can install - but DO NOT ENABLE - and then use the PKUT to change the key and activate and then update to SP3.
