HP Pavilion
Product: F9J38UA #ABA
Model: 17-e117dx
Thank you
Not in the way you probably do. Here is the Service Manual:
See Page 50. Unlike the Envy 17 and Pavilion dv7, Pavilion 17 has that a single hard drive Bay. The only way to add a second hard drive is to remove the DVD (optical drive) and insert a DVD to the hard drive bay adapter. The manual shows how to remove the DVD player and you can buy the adapter at amazon.com or jacobsparts.com. Note that this is a 9.5 mm thick disc, not a 12.7 mm. Both types are available. I do not recommend the adapter DVD player solution because you lose the use of the optical drive, and also because the interface of optical drive is usually not as fast as the main hard drive interface. Always fast enough for simple storage and you can run a video of her, but you do not want to edit the video of this disc, for example.
https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/
If you decide to go the route of adapter DVD I would buy a large capacity 5400 RPM SATA 2.5 inches wide and drive hard thickness 9.5 mm. No sense in buying a reader more expensive high-performance.

Disk management will not read the 2nd internal hard drive more!
Hello
I am a user of windows 7 and later than yesterday (2016_Feb_02) managing disks stopped to read the secondary internal hard drive (it was working perfectly well before). Does CPU, a beep when it is turned on or even rebooted and more when it comes to the windows logo, the PC hangs for a good 15 seconds.
The hard drive was an external hard drive and I removed the cover must be installed on my PC, but it has worked well for more than 5 months so far.
I would like to reuse the hard disk without losing any data.
Information on PC:
Compaq
RAM 2 GB
Purchased in 2009
Details of the hard drive:
Seagate
2 TB
Please let me know if more information is needed.
Thank you very much.
Download SeaTools for DOS, burn the ISO file downloaded to a CD (you can use the free ImgBurn) and boot from this CD.

Buy the new internal hard drive
I have HP Pavilion dv4-1242TX
Recently, my original 320 GB (Western Digital Scorpio Blue - WD3200BPVT) internal hard drive crashed and become inadmissible.
So now I want to buy a new 500 GB internal hard drive, but I'm confused if my laptop it will support or not.
Internal hard drive WD Blue 500 GB laptop computer (WD5000BPVT / WD5000LPVX)
MAIN FEATURES
Other than the size, I see no difference between the two discs. Just having the Recovery DVD set available and install the new drive, run the set of recovery and off you go. If the old drive is toast, there's nothing else to do than to run the updates from Microsoft.
Or install Windows 7, commercial version of your choice.

Trouble with the new internal hard drive...
Hello, I just bought a 500 GB for my Dimension 4500 internal hard drive. When I click on my computer, it says the hard disk capacity is only 127 concerts. I think it's because the motherboard is old (I got the 4500 in 2002). Is it possible to reach the full 500 concerts (465-formatted) using this motherboard (i.e. through a BIOS upgrade or something) or 127 is the max I can get with this system?
If I need a BIOS upgrade, where can I get TI/how I do that?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
John

I want to install a new internal hard drive of my computer, my old internal drive is running Win XP Pro 64 bit OS, the new drive will be Win 7 Pro.
Is there a method much less time to transfer programs from the old drive to the new?
I have both drives in the same machine to do the transfer. If you have a set of instructions please post them to send me the instructions.
Thanks in advance
Sorry, but you can't do that. When you move from one computer to another, you must reinstall all the programs. This is because the parts of the program go to different places, and there are updates the registry involved as well. There are also some activation to worry. The last time, you can copy programs from one computer to another in the BACK long days long ago.
Good luck.

HP dv6 envy: want to know on the best internal hard drive to replace it with
Hi friends... I return my hp dv6 want 3 years and it has worked well for me so far, but since last month, everytime I turn on my laptop, a message is popping indicating that YOUR HARD DISK has FOUND YEAR IMMINENT FAILURE AND there NEED TO BE REPLACED and I studied a lot of posts here regarding this problem and everyone was asked to replace it with a new one. I don't know what drive should I replace it with. Could someone please help me in this regard. I need the following details:
1. where can I find new internal hard drive HP ENVY DV6 1 to buy?
2. can we replace this hard drive with the hard drive to other companies? (such as seaggate)... If so, so, please let me know
3. can I replace the hard drive with a hard drive of 1 to solid state?
4. links to vendors who sell internal hard drive?
Please help me friends...
The answer is Yes in all areas. The laptop will accept any 2.5 inch wide disk SATA 9.5 or 7 mm thick and which includes mechanical hard drives and Solid State drives. Where are you located (one country)? Hard drives and SSDS for laptops are a part of the goods. You can pick them up at a Best Buy or Frys if you live where there are no Frys or you can use amazon.com or newegg.com or similar online service. The prices vary a lot, so it is useful to get a good deal. A 1 to SSD can run more than $300, you know. Need instructions for installing and/or migrating software? We are a bit like McDonalds here in the Forum... served billion regarding replace drive hard/updates to level. One of the specialties of the House, so to speak.

I have a desktop pc with 2 internal hard drives. A hard drive has the BONE and the second hard disk is a separate partition. (I do not combine hard drives using RAID.) If I upgrade Vista to Windows 7, the upgrade will be to reformat hard disks or just a hard drive with the operating system? Should I remove the second hard disk of the computer just to be sure? The second hard drive must be reformatted for use with Windows 7?
Thank you.
You must install the upgrade in the Vista operating system.

Cannot read the old laptop hard drive attached again, says disk needs to be formatted
Original title: hardware device
I am trying to up load my old laptop the laptop to my new computer hard drive so that I can access my old files, but it is endlessly with need to format the new device this will clear all data? It only allows me to open the old hard drive at all? Please help I really need to have access to my old hard drive through my new laptop I have no other way to get the information out.
Hello
Yes if you format the drive it erases it's clean. Did you put the drive in the computer as the 2nd disc
If the computer still starts off the coast of its original disk? It's easier to do on a desktop. You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd disk (best) or external
Drive USB enclosure and then backup to removable media such as CD, DVD or another USB
readers. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This can be done with the player in the)
original laptop. If the drive is viable (not totally dead).Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/use-Ubuntu-Live-CD-to-backup-files-from-your-dead-Windows-computer--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The reader might have been damaged and may not be easily accessible. There are professional
companies that can recover data off a dead drive if it is a costly process.
Check with a real computer store (one that makes its own service in the House and no leeks)
and displays a Best Buy or other stores) or system manufacturer support.I hope this helps.

Satellite Pro P200 - 1KE Vista loses contact with the second internal HARD drive
Vista Business SP2. I have a Satellite Pro P200-1KE, with two 160 GB drives: a Hitachi configured as C: (operating system, programs, etc.) and E: (data, other programs). The second is a Toshiba MK1637GSX. This little about it and nothing of any importance and is normally configured as d. Unfortunately this hard drive has now become invisible to Vista, although it is still recognized by BIOS and Device Manager. In managing computer does not appear in the list in the upper pane, it comes without a letter from reader below. I have tried everything I know to get recognized, including the following:
(In no particular order):* Remove computer - managed, reset as a single Volume: it always fails
* Reformat to NTFS using Linux GParted or utility disk Linux (via a USB stick with Linux ice Peppermint on that nerd), sometimes combined with the restoration of the system - it works, but only for a single session. She always disappears again when you restart
* Remove the driver from Device Manager and pointing plug-and-play with Windows System 32 and Windows Update - which seems to return the driver - but does not recognized disk, unfortunately
* Meanwhile, throughout all this, Vista insists on finding a driver for "unknown device" that she sometimes found and (allegedly) installs and sometimes find one fails to install.Bah!
Anyone know anything else I can try - preferably without having to reinstall the entire operating system, or run the risk of using Toshiba Hardware Setup that does not seem to come with all the instructions and enigmatic, who wonder if I want to delete stuff 'selected', without showing me what kind of things I am alleged to have selected for removal!
Best
DavidIf this second HDD is not so important to try to start the original installation disk Microsoft (Vista or Win7) to see if the second HDD will be recognized for the installation procedure.
You can also try to install Win7 on this second HDD to see if the installation is correctly finalized. Later, you can check if you can start the second HARD drive preinstalled OS.Test just to see if this problem is related to Vista only.

one of the three internal hard drives slowing down
Everything was perfectly fine, I have three internal hard work led in may Mac pro early 2008, 10.10.5 yosemite OSX, 32 GB of ram, 128 GB SSD boot drive, a hitachi 1 TB and a 2 TB WD I bought 3 months ago. Suddenly a week ago that my 2 TB WD started working slowly, reading and writing time is too long for small amounts of data. Folder icons take the time of loading, and even if this isn't my boot drive, but its cause my very slow closing system. Other drives work perfectly well. I tried to repair the two partitions via disk utility, but nothing helped. The problem is that I can not change my project pro Prime Minister because that all files associated with the project are lying in this same WD drive files cache for After Effects and Premier Pro causing these applications run slowly. I'm working on a feature film project any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Probably the drive is a failure. When a disc is a failure it should read data multiple times to get a free reading of the error. That really slows thinks down I will quickly copy the data to another disk

Satellite A500 - is there a model with the 2nd internal HARD drive?
Is there a model A500 with 2 internal drives?
Hello!
You can check it on the Toshiba site in the specifications of the laptop if it s equipped ;) 2nd HARD drive
But I checked the Toshiba Web site for you, and it seems that Satellite A500 isn't equipped with the 2nd HARD drive.
If you want a 2nd HARD drive therefore use an external that you can connect via for example fast eSATA port.Good bye

New installation of Windows 7 will not identify the second internal hard drive
Attempted recently to upgrade a computer running the SP3 of XP to Windows 7. Bought the new FULL version of 7.
Have two 1 t Seagate Barracuda SATA drives on board; Operating system in partition 1 of disk C:. second disc to store data only.Several unsuccessful attempts to install 7, but with helpful suggestions, others on this forum, (i.e., update of the BIOS, re-formatting drive C to do a clean install, etc.) finally managed to a successful installation.
All right, except that it does not find my second hard drive. I have the disks attached ports SATA 1 & 2, but the system reads them so much as the C: drive. The second disc appears in the BIOS Setup and Explorer as just the C: drive.
Tried to change the SATA port for second drive to 3 and 4 with the same result. It always appears as the C: drive.
How can I get the systΦme can recognize the drive, so it can be assigned to a drive letter and I can access? I suspect that the reformatting of the first disc for installation probably erased some boot sector/configuration info.
A side issue: before attempting to upgrade to XP, I backed up my "Documents and Settings" on an external drive. Now that XP is passed to the computer, can I continue to use Windows Easy Transfer to retrieve all my settings and info from the program, or who's going to screw me up?
Check if the hard drive is assigned to a drive letter in disk management.
Click Start, right click on computer
Click on management of
Expand disk management
Select your external hard drive if its posted here
Make a right click paths and change drive letter
Restart your computer, open the computer in the start menu and see if it shows then.

Dirty error on the secondary internal hard drive
Here is the story:
Its a relatively new player, but he was up and working fine for about three months before this error pops up. I did nothing to the computer right now here (nor has my son - an important point often). The drive is a Samsung HD 250 gb model: SP2504C. I do not think that I partitioned when I formatted it. It has data on it.
What is happening is this:
at startup, it goes to a screen of chkdsk, runs a check that says type: NTFS, the disc is dirty and then runs a check of the three phase. All three steps are fine but he clings to the audit and I have to manually restart the computer.
When I started upwards and press F12 and did a hard to check, I had a "fail - return code: 7" I don't know what that means.
Now I took out of the system, or I can not start the computer. I hope someone can help. If it cannot be saved completely, I need help for how down the data on it. I have a warranty on the drive if there is an error in nonfixable.
