Product recovery on Satellite Pro M70 (PSM75)

Hello

I decided to do a cover of product of my laptop after a several incidents of computer closing. After I backed up my important files and documents, I inserted the product recovery CD and turns off the computer as shown in the manual. Then I turned and followed the instructions. I came to the Console recovery and chosen the option #1 (WindowsXP, Norsk (my language), then #1 again (start installation), and then #1 another time (recovery of the entire hard drive option) and #1 new (warning - continue..).)

Now, I get the error message:

"Could not erase the disc #1.

And I'm here now. I can't do anything more. Does someone has been an Advisor on what may be wrong?

It seems that there is something wrong on the HARD drive and the Toshiba CD recovery is not able to erase the HARD drive. Maybe some partitions.
You should try to delete and format the HARD drive on a different path, and then use the Toshiba Recovery CD.

PS: You can try to boot from another CD of Microsoft. Usually, the Windows CD deletes and formatted the HARD drive.

  • Updates the drivers & utilities for Satellite Pro M70 (PSM75)

How do you know if there are any updates available for the Toshiba drivers and utilities provided with my Satellite Pro M70 (PSM75), the Date of Production - January 27, 2006, and which are in the folder Toolscd (C:\ ToolsCD) on my laptop?

Is there an update Service that recommend updates available for download?

I checked the list of available downloads on the download page of the site of Toshiba UK ([http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK]), for the satellite Pro M70 (PSM75) and compared the version numbers of downloads, against the same drivers & Utilities version numbers in the file Toolscd (C:\) ToolsCD) on my laptop (IE in the XML TVersion files), and they are exactly the same, even for 16 drivers and utilities with a "Date last modified" on January 17, 2006 or newer (with new - August 1, 2008)

The only real update which seems to be offered as a download, is the update of the BIOS v1.50 - WIN (in the BIOS downloads), with a 'last modified Date' of August 7, 2007, for which there is no equivalent in the Toolscd folder.

    Thank you

You can also check this page for the latest updates, as appropriate:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com (Support & downloads)

I don't think that there is any tool, which continues to tell you that there are new updates available. For Windows, it is clear, that you can use the Windows Update feature. It has some function implemented tools can look for hardware drivers too.
But for the rest, just keep on visiting the above mentioned page from time to time.

In any case, if your computer works fine, you will not need any update.

  • Need to drive recovery for Satellite Pro M70

My recovery for my M70 disk was broken (don't ask!) and I'm in serious need to restore my laptop. Any help out there?

    Hello

He damage of s that you damage the recovery disc. But maybe you can order a new of the ASP (certified partner) in your country.
I said maybe, because I m not leaving of course if the recovery for Sat M70 disc is available because the recovery disk for older models of laptop could be interrupted.

However, I think you should contact the ASP in your country for more details
If this recovery would be available then an ASP should be able to order it from Toshiba

  • Re: How to use Recovery Expert Mode in Satellite Pro M70-220 product recovery CD

I would appreciate advice on the following points.

My Satellite Pro M70-220 (PSM75E-00D008G3), portable computer has 4 partitions created by Acronis Disk Director costume v9:

    C: OS - Win XP Pro SP3
    D: programs
    E: data & downloads
    F: backups

After you start the laptop in Win XP, I inserted the recovery CD Toshiba in the DVD - RAM drive
and sailed to the BMP file, R:\G_INST\BMP, where I found the file "menu.bmp", which gives 2 recovery
    Options:

    * 1. Retrieve entire hard drive *.
Caveat. All data stored o your computer will be lost.
Preinstalled software factory will be installed.

    * 2. Recovery expert Mode WARNING: *.
This is for PC experts only.
Preinstalled software factory can be installed on an existing partition.

My questions are linked using the "Recovery Expert" Mode:
-I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F?
-I'll be able to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?
-What is the exact procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?
-where can I find more information on the procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    > I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F

Yes, this should be possible. Using the Expert Mode of recovery, you should get the ghost window where you can select the partition where the OS is to be installed. In this case only that partition would be formatted.

    > will it be possible to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?

Yes, theoretically it should be possible.

    > what is the exact procedure of "Expert Mode of recovery"?
As I mentioned above, this mode allows you to restore the operating system on a partition of some and only this partition will be formatted.

    > where can I find more information on the procedure of "Expert Mode of recovery"?

What are the installation options detailed which are available when you use the recovery disk?

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    Hello!

If you use the recovery disk Toshiba your whole HARD drive will be wiped, so you will have lost the existing partitions and all files that you have stored on the HARD drive. So back up your data first, before launching the Toshiba recovery disc.

The point is the Toshiba Recovery disk restore factory settings if the HARD disk will be wiped and you return the score of the first State when you used the laptop.

    Hey Buddy,

I think you need to install the proper drivers because the other recovery disk contains bad drivers. Simply visit the Web from Toshiba:

Also Toshiba you can t get a recovery disk. You will need to contact an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite Pro M70-273: feature of the Express Media Player feature

Two weeks ago, I bought a Pro Satellite Toshiba M70-273 'Limited Edition' (?). The model number is PSM76E-00J00QDU, SPM76, model name, production date 2006-02-21. According to the specs I found in the online user manual or in a folder with the publication references
    «TEG October 2005, art.» N0. DSSSPM70 10/05NLBE', there is a 'Express media feature' 'on some selected models "...

It is not clear if yes or no, the model that I bought it. I have an of CD/DVD "button that I use to run my built-in dvd player (WinDVD for example), but it does not work as it appears as 'a disc standalone player' who plays a dvd (movie) without the need of Windows startup.

To watch the movie on dvd, after using the CD/DVD button, I start in Windows, the connection in Windows XP, and the office at startup, the WinDVD screen presents the film.

This isn't what I expect from a stand-alone dvd player. My old laptop has a 'dj function' with which you can play a cd without booting in Windows (or turning on the laptop), simply by pressing a special button on the front. What about the promised feature of the Toshiba Satellite Pro?

Is there a feature "Express Media Player" at all? How can I check if the function is provided? I used the provided configuration, the first time I used my laptop. I don't want to use the recovery CD provided unless it would be absolutely necessary to install this missing functionality.

    Hello

Yes. Some Toshiba models use a player Qosmio (Qosmio units) and some computers laptop Toshiba supports also the Media Express Player.

I downloaded the user manual of the Satellite Pro M70 and it seems that some laptop computers in this series come with the express media player. But unfortunately the Media Express drive was not installed and delivered with this laptop.

  • Can I use Express Media Player on Satellite Pro M70 delivered without it?

    Hello world

I have a portable Satellite Pro M70 which has not been installed with Express Media Player. In addition, my recovery CD too are not the Express Media Player software on it. Is there a way I can download this Express Media Player and even install on my laptop. If so can someone let me have this link download and any other procedure for doing the same thing.

    Thank you
    Marzi

I put t agree with the user above.
Microsoft Windows player is not the same as the Express Media Player, which is sometimes delivered with Toshiba laptops.
As far as I know, this software cannot be downloaded and it s version an OEM if it s preinstalled on your laptop.
In this forum, you will find some comments on this topic.
To my knowledge, you cannot obtain and order the CD of Express Media Player if this application has not been delivered with your laptop.

    Unfortunately, nothing to do.

    Your help is appreciated

    Hello!

In my opinion it's is not a problem if you use your own Windows XP to install it on the laptop that you can do this of course.

Have you checked the Web from Toshiba site?
You will find a document setup instructions for Satellite Pro M70. This is a list of the recommended driver and the order of installation of the tools. Check it!

    Hi all!

I hope someone can help me! I have a Satellite Pro M70 purchased in England about 2 years ago. The full model is PSM76E-00100KEN. Thank you

BIOS update is necessary? Or what is the intention to update the BIOS?
Usually if you have some serious problems, the BIOS isn't essential update

    With regard to the sound:
You can solve the problem in Windows XP, install the KB888111 and KB835221 hotfix before you install the audio driver.
