Protection against accidental damage for portable computers outside of US

Does anyone know if it is possible to add (in the first 90 days after purchase) protection against accidental damage to a laptop purchased outside of the United States (in Romania, in this case)?

And is it possible to do so since the U.S. site for example? The serial number is recognized by an American Internet site, and some extended warranties are offered for the machine there. The Romanian Lenovo Web site does not appear to be all offer warranty extensions...

According to the accidental damage Protection Service Agreement, service is only available in the United States.

You should not actaully see the two pages linked above, firefox should block both. Currently when Itry in Windows 7 firefox 9.0.1 even in safe mode it is not blocking these pages. I also tried Linux and will try in good time in other versions of firefox on Windows XP.

I would like to know if others find phishing protection as tested on these pages of firefox fails. Another case of Mozilla break something that worked for years (since the release of Firefox 2), without a valid reason. The change of mozilla.com to mozilla.org beat those sa-a pages, probably because everything in mozilla.org is automatically sent to mozilla.org pages now. Only old mozilla.com that I have bookmarked pages provide a good demonstration of how the 'trap' and 'attack' featured in the works of Firefox.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686731 - mentions he departs a domain mozilla.com/.org of the mozqa.com domain, but trends of the discussion towards this as WONTFIX.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=681945 - seems to be a proposal to set up a separate domain - itisatrap.org - for these pages of 'demo', but this area doesn't seem to exist - I could not solve with a DNS lookup.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=710597 - is for "Setup www.itisatrap.org"and was inaugurated on 14-12 - 2011. It seems that nothing has been done to that end.

It is an important feature in Firefox and attention better IMO on "detail" should have been made before that the variation between .com and .org was made.

I'm tempted to buy "itisatrap.org" and "TI-is-a - trap.org' and Park to wait for offers to purchase.

    Greetings.

I recently bought a Toshiba Tecra M4 Tablet Pc 138 and I would buy the Toshiba 4 years SystemGuard + Service Plan extended year code 4th WSN-PTGQ4V for $288.00.

The authorized service provider Toshiba where I live (in Romania) does not offer for sale but it does not cover international guarantees of any kind.

  • Batteries for portable computers are dead when you first start!

About 14 months ago I bought an ACER ASPIRE 6930 a Best Buy in the Canada. On the car driving home, I removed the laptop box, he turned and he began the installation of Windows Vista. The battery is dead (DOH!) until installation has been completed, and when I got home, I have plugged into the wall and tried to continue the installation/Setup program. The laptop does not start and Acer people said that I must refer to them (all the way to Texas) for redress. I asked my friend who is a technician to have a peek to see if he could solve the problem. He was able to successfully install Windows XP Pro on my laptop using a serial number provided by the college. After a year, the serial number being exhausted, and my office is now posted a message on the bottom right "you can be a victim of software counterfeiting." So my question is:

Is there a way I can install a version of Windows Vista (FREE) that was supposed to come with the laptop? I have my certificate of authenticity, serial numbers, etc. on a sticker on the bottom of my laptop. Can download the installation of Vista, then the installation files it will allow me to connect these information for a successful installation?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide. This laptop uses an Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 (2.0 GHz L2 cache memory, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB). If I remember correctly, it was a version of Vista 64-bit.

How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

    https://secure.TX.Acer.com/rcdb/main.aspx?brand=Acer

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Base for the portable computers preformance score

How can I improve my score of portable computers based in particular my graphics of games like the number of preformance 2.4.

    Thank you

    Hi ToriaFurie,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft answers Community Forums.

The Windows system assessment tool (WinSAT) is a module of Microsoft Windows Vista, which measures various hardware capabilities and performance features it runs and reports them as an index of performance Windows (WEI) score, a number between 1.0 and 5.9 for Windows Vista and Windows Vista SP1.

The WEI allows users based on their performance of the hardware with the software performance requirements. For example, the graphical interface Aero recommends a score of WEI of 3 or more for satisfactory use of the "Aero Glass" feature. WEI also lets you show what part of a system will provide the largest increase in performance when it is upgraded. For example a computer with the lowest score of sup in his memory, would benefit more than increased the RAM to add a faster hard drive (or any other component).

The link below also help you understand better and you can take steps to increase the points of your graphics card

  • Is what level of protection against shock disc in Portege R830

    People,

I work in an area where there are a lot of people who wear their laptop Portege (especially the R830) autour while they are still on - mainly well they are switching from a desktop to the meeting etc. rooms and often their transport on an angle. I feel a bit silly because I insist on the mine to sleep before she started.

What level of protection against shock disc is there in these laptops? Am I paranoid or everyone of inviting disaster?

    Thank you

    Yokki

    Hello

First of all its not really good for the drive if the laptop would be inappropriate while the HARD drive is used in this case head read/write from the disk HARD would be hit while holders along but there is a software called Toshiba HDD protection using a sensor built into the laptop. HARD drive protection detects the vibrations and shocks and HARD drive head moves automatically in a safe position to reduce the risk of damage caused by the head in contact with disc.

  • Windows Defender and the malicious software removal tool not doing anything to protect against malware, why Windows Update keep harassing upgrade us on a regular basis?

original title: WHY Windows Update keep up to date USELESS of Windows Defender and installation USELESS malware remover?

I'm a computer technician who makes a TON of virus remove money from Windows computers.  Two-thirds of my tasks of repair involving the elimination of viruses from Windows and trying to fix the Internet Explorer, the worst browser known to humanity.

I have a question about Windows Defender and the malicious software removal tool.  These are two programs entirely worthless, evidenced by the fact that computers with them installed still get infected of all viruses, Trojan and rootkit out there.  Clearly, if these two programs of malware Microsoft has done anything to protect your computer, it would have been without having to release still a THIRD tool antivirus, "security essentials" for Microsoft.   I'm not complaining — the way Microsoft Windows absorbs malware like a sponge, put a lot of money in my bank account. Please keep doing what you're doing... however...

My question is, given that Windows Defender and the malicious software removal tool doing nothing to protect against malware, why Windows Update keep harassing upgrade us on a regular basis?

Windows defender is not an antivirus program, it is designed to protect against spyware.

If you don't like them, so do not use them.

  • Is there a page of archive for the Flash Player plugins for PORTABLE versions of the web browsers?

Is there a page of archive for downloads installers for Flash Player plugin for PORTABLE versions of web browsers like Firefox ESR?

One of my web browsers is Firefox ESR 10.0.7 and is a PORTABLE of Firefox version that apparently needs a different Flash Player plugin that the plugin Flash Player normal requiring regular versions of most web browsers.

I don't want to install the most recent PORTABLE Flash Player plugin version because I read about the problems with it and it is the only capable version this ESR Firefox will give me the opportunity to download and install when I try to install the plugin Flash Player necessary through the browser.

I already know about the page archive plugin Adobe Flash Player normal, below, the link, but who don't have the Flash Player plugins for MOBILE web browsers.

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Flash-Player/KB/archived-Flash-Player-versions.html

I also looked on OldApps.com and I couldn't find anything there.

Where can I download an older version, maybe one of the plugins Flash Player 11.2 to round April 2012, that will work with this version of PORTABLE Firefox ESR?

I tried this question in the forum of Mozilla Firefox Help, but no one could answer.

    Thanks for any help,

    digiday

I met the same problem with the version of portable Firefox, I've tried.  I found myself ignoring the record (with the text file) that they have provided and created my own folder 'plugins' alongside firefox executable.

As to why I went with 10.3 11.4, it was mainly because we added in Flash Player 11.3 protected mode.  While this might work (it didn't on my first attempt), it adds a layer of complexity that I didn't want to face.  If you need some of the new features of 11.x, then you have to play with it to see if you can get this to work.  One thing to try would be to modify the mms.cfg by disabling the protected-mode, however, I do not know if this file is accessible outside your windows\system32\macromed\flash folder.

You can find all versions of 10.3 here: where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 10.3 for Windows or Macintosh?

  • How I bounce back without having to change the setting of 'Protection against overload only' amateur off EACH time?

How I bounce back without having to change the setting of 'Protection against overload only' amateur off EACH time?

This setting should be preserved, once you set it... so I'm not sure why you have to define every time...

Then... Make sure that you put on ALL the tools of the art of logic in the preferences of LPX...

Otherwise... you may need to reset the prefs of LPX... Put all the Tools Advanced again and the other preferences you have set... and see if that fixes things for you...

You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not affect your media files. To reset your settings preferences of the user to Logic Pro X to their original state, do the following:

    1. Logic Pro X to quit smoking
    2. In the Finder, select go to folder menu reach.
    3. Type ~/Library/Preferences in the field 'go to folder '.
    4. Press the Go button.
    5. Delete the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you set custom shortcuts, it will reset to the default values. You can export your custom key as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X user manual for details on how to do this.
    6. If you are having problems with a control surface in Logic Pro X, you can also delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file in the Preferences folder.
    7. Restart the computer.

Note: If you cannot find the files listed above, you don't follow the instructions properly!

  • Disable the protection against shock - SSD

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the active protection system in my Lenovo Y560. I have recently replaced my original HDD with a SSD, what makes this useless system. This computer is about 3 years and it is currently running Windows 7 Home Premium, if it changes anything.

After reading the forums, I have not found all messages that seem to offer a procedure step by step on how to do this. Tech unsavvy, I limited myself looking for the control panel in the hope of resolving this issue, but nothing helps. I thought that I post here so I'm looking for more information.

    Thanks in advance.

Just uninstall the software that allows the protection against shock in Add or Remove Programs Control Panel. This can cause to have an "unknown device" in Device Manager.
