PS and LR produce bad impressions, but other programs are not...

It's a little long, because I did a bit of investigation, but I can't solve my problem and I need help:

I had a nice workflow that I have used for years.  I'm sure that many of you would find a bit tedious and I will not go into the details of it, but the important part is that I always printed on Photoshop (Extended CS6 - now at 13.0.3 - Yes, I have the window trial stupid bug, but that's another matter).  My monitors are profiled (no printer profile custom, but I have downloaded profiles suitable PixelGenius for times where I need them, and with my management of colors, my impressions were quite specific.)  I use and Epson Stylus Photo R2880 and I was very happy with it.  I work mainly on an iMac 24 "(millésime 2009)."  Recently, I decided to change my work flow based entirely on some of the tutorial videos that I bought of LL.  I decided that I was ready to integrate much more LR in the workflow, especially now that he understands the proofing.  Due to the new workflow I was really looking forward to printing off LR.  Who should you get more or less current.

So far, I haven't printed with my new workflow and I would say that I haven't printed anything since 13.0.1 on PS and LR 4.1 (not that I was printing from LR at the time).  Having not printed in a while, I knew that I needed a head cleaning (of course I did) and, as is my habit, once the head was clean, I printed (from LR) a 4 x 6 image I had planned on printing to a larger size.  It collects all persistent grime after a cleaning.  Printing doesn't look just right for me (too dark and the colors were a bit wide).  I met with wrong colors prints once before, and it turned to be a driver problem.  In the process, I found a large image that is indicative of a certain type of problem and I keep the good and bad prints of hand... just in case.  I decided to print this picture, and of course, it came out looking like the standard version craptastic I was getting into with the bad long time driver.  Just to check that it had to do with my new process, I printed the picture of the PS (which worked fine the last time I printed this image). Also, it came out all wrong (the same as LR all wrong).  Since the bad impressions looked like the old 'bad driver' impressions, I thought I knew what was going on and worked with Epson to reset my printing pipeline and reinstall my printers (I also have a workforce of 845 for printing "throw" and for my wife to use).

With new installs for my printers in place I went ahead and printed again... and once again, it came to pass badly.  I was, to say the least, discouraged.  As a last test of consistency, I loaded the image up in Nikon Capture NX2 (version 2.3.1) and did a print using the same color profile.  All of a sudden feel perfect.  It is my 'good' old prints and, equally important, was a Dead Ringer for the image on the screen. At this point, I guess that for some reason any LR and PS not correctly color managed.  I thought they were ignoring my selection of color profile and let the printer manage printing from the native color space (ProPhoto RGB) or.  To test this, I set up printing in PS (same image), but took a very strange color profile (Nikon DBase for v3.0.0.3002 of the NAVE).  It's odd how radically a color profile that I could find (the colors are mapped to completely different areas).  I was hoping that printing would be unchanged, but unfortunately he is out with the weird mapping that provides this profile.  It is so drastic a change, I have a hard time assessing whether it is 'off', as the other impressions are.  What is apparent is that PS at least (I have not tried in LR), it's actually reproducing along the pipeline of printing color information.  This does not explain why LR and PS of 'bad' impressions but not Nikon Capture.  This is where I am.  Apparently the color management is broken in my Adobe products, but works very well in my Nikon software.  I'm a bit of a loss. I'm sure I'm printing off LR and especially PS, correctly to 99.999999999%.  Anyone have any ideas?  I'd like to be able to print again. Impression of Capture NX2 is really not a good option.

Thanks in advance,

David

Just to close it entirely, I just got the phone with Epson and they confirmed that if you have PS or LR color management, EVERYTHING must disengage in the printer including the option of 16-bit driver.  You will always get 16-bit printing via the PS color management.  Apparently the option "Off (no correction color)" and the 16-bit box operate independently of the driver and if one is on there as a conflict with a managed utility printing color.  I just wanted that along.

Thanks again for all the help,

Dave
