Purpose of nodemanager on stack OBIEE

Hello

I have OBIEE 11.1.1.7.xxx (facility of the company), where bi_server is clustered between the 2 servers.

Everything works fine, but I don't understand the purpose of the service "node manager. Should I run it on both servers? Is this something that restarts bi_server automatically in case of failure?

Here is the command I run in order to start OBIEE:

Server1

StartWeblogic (Server Admin)

StartManagedserver bi_server1

opmnctl startall

Server2

StartManagedserver bi_server2

opmnctl startall

Thank you!

Run on each node where there is a managed server (i.e. bi_serverx). Nodemanager is necessary if you want to control the managed server (stop/stop etc.) of the server administrator.

You can find more details here: https://docs.oracle.com/middleware/11119/wls/NODEM/overview.htm#NODEM113

  • installation of OBIEE and weblogic

    Hello

I'm new to obiee. Here is my understanding about obiee please correct where I'm wrong.

OBIEE is actually the components that can be saved with weblogic or oc4j.
OC4J is a stand-alone server, used for development purposes.

When we install obiee obiee seeks Server weblog if found it registered to this installed weblogic server components, otherwise obiee Installer install oc4j container and components registered to them.

Please correct me where I'm wrong that as any kind of explanation more is welcome from the members of this forum learnered

    Nick

I got my analytics.war in. / OracleBI/web/analytics.war. If you install the OC4J instance you can also find it in. / OracleBI/oc4j_bi/j2ee/home/applications/analytics/analytics.war. You need to deploy only the ear or war file, not both. You use depends on the web application server you use. You will also need to deploy bioffice.war, if you plan to use the plug-ins BI Office.

  • Error application Cumulative Patch (p17546336_111171_Generic)

I have made several attempts now to apply the patch cumulative, published in March and failed each time.  I made sure the condition sine qua non patches have been applied to both OBIA and ODI, I stopped and restarted the entire stack OBIEE but I get the same error:

    SEVERE: Cause is:

java.lang.RuntimeException: error on reading or writing filejava.io.FileNotFoundException: /u01/app/oracle/product/fmwhome/Oracle_BI1/.biapps_patch_storage/biapps-md-patchInventory.xml (no such file or directory)

I checked and indeed this file is missing.  I guess I missed something along the way?

    Thanks in advance,

The client had moved all folders of SDE adapter they used not to another folder to declutter their ODI Designer tab.  I have all the files of the adapter SDE withdrew to their original locations and patch finally completed successfully.

  • VMWare View dedicated server necessary?

I'm new to VMWare view and still trying to piece together the elements was asked to get a proof of concept for one of our sites that will be more then likley turn to the full blown soultion. Not ideal, but something unfortunately end us up making often. We already have would invest it virtual and when I informed my boss that we must build a new server to dial the View Manager, in which he advised just throw on the server VReplicator isin can't do much.

Counsel on View Manager running on a shared server?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi hammer =)

I suggest that turn you on a new 64-bit view server, install the broker for connections on that. helps you solve problems and so on. After all, it is a VINE, and you have a virtual infrastructure.  your CV will be the composer installed on it and of course you will need a database to view, sql express works very well for this purpose.  You can stack on the same box, if you wish.

  • A few Questions about the Architecture of OBIEE

It's just a continuation of this thread:

Confused about BI Publisher and BI Presentation Services

I just know how the whole process works, RPD, OPE, NSQconfig...

    So next step 1 =)

As I understand it, is now, I need to go to the Administration tool, first create a repository? Then go to BI Presentation Services to create reports (with answers)? What is the creation of the user comes up? What is the purpose of BI Publisher? I already install a few things about BI Publisher as a user, roles, etc., but still not of creating a report. Sorry if I ask too many questions, I'm just trying to understand what each tool link. I checked the docs, and especially they are diving just by changing configs without really explaining why. (àle moins c'est comment je l'ai vu) =)

    Thanks a lot again!

Wow - where do we start!

Remember that they are two distinct products, OBIEE and its configs related / components (RPD, Server BI, BI presentation services - ibots answers, dashboards, etc.)
BI Publisher, formerley XML Publisher, successor to Oracle reports.

They fall under the Oracle's BI stack.

Lots of information on our site, the link in the previous post you mentioned.

'Roles' in OBIEE able to determine - authorization is to say what you can do in the sytem or the 'Privileges '. What objects (reports / dashboards) you can use and can also be used for data security filters (virtual "private data" version as an Oracle DB real option "VPD" OBIEE)
Roles in BI Publisher can generally mean the same thing, which can create folders, which can create reports, which can run, which can create sources of data etc. Sometimes, you need to use a specific role of the system name, sometimes you can create your own names and refer to them as you please (BEEP roles are generally a predefined set, OBIEE roles can be called as you like)

Sounds hard at the beginning and without prior experience but seriously, there are some blogs very very well on here, such as mentioned in the previous answer, we have too much info on our website (Peakindicators.com)
Feel free to send me an email.

  • OBIEE - navigate to "Pierce" effect

    Hello

I have developed on OBIEE for a month now and have written that some reports with navigate a dashboard in order to coordinate the multiple reports on another page of dashboard.

It works very powerfully, simply by putting filters 'invite' on all the fields of the target report and for the navigate to the dashboard page - not a single nice - very nice - report - impressed - love it!

BUT -I was not able to reproduce this when trying to achieve the same effect with linked folders, based on tables, with the same field names and data values - when I want to move from one reports based on folder has another report, based on the folder B - works to navigate, but the content of the report is the complete set of data not limited by the "prompt" filter and the value one clicked to start the navigation.

Is there a trick to this, can anyone help please?

    Thank you

    Robert.

Know that OBIEE is primarily a BI tool - not a forms 9i, Java swing or equivalent same asp.net (sorry!)-, but the solution only includes features of publication (postback) standard - and I've seen dealing with XML for easy insertion and put messages updated to allow a simple web form style feature.

Yeap it's writeback I mention. You can build things around him, but Oracle says explicitly that there are very limited ways: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/b31766.pdf (page 93f).
So, you're dead on your judgment ("post in a field of comment or a similar feature"). Regarding the "sophisticated data entry" for me, the question arises: why would you do the data entry sophisticated in an analysis-oriented database? Forecasting and planning tasks, there are applications purpose-built from the Hyperion product stack.

In all cases, you should monitor and keep the distinctions between 'normal' analysis of data and that you write in the clear. Users normally get confused with the analyses that pull data from sources of refresh cycles for example.

provide style budget reports to users

Now you're in territory Hyperion Planning: http://www.oracle.com/appserver/business-intelligence/hyperion-financial-performance-management/hyperion-planning.html

tell you what I have described is beyond the scope of the intended OBIEEs feature?

Usual answer: "it depends." Of course, you can do OBIEE do all this. The question is: is this really the right tool to do? It is worth the effort and hassle? Wouldn't be easier, cheaper and more advantageous for the company just to buy an app that is specifically designed for this and therefore offers you 100 times the functionality that you can build in the time it takes to implement a standard set?
Therefore, as always... make or buy. Just keep in mind that if you choose a standalone application he won't say that the link with your Analytics data is lost... OBIE can simply connect to what it is and still represent consolidated reports between the systems.

    See you soon,.

  • Running a Subvi independently in a stacked sequence

Of expensive Labviewer. We have an instrument that is controlled by a labview program. The program consists of a bunch of operations in sequence and each operation is implemented using sequences la_ROSE923/flat. At some point in the sequence, I want to ramp a furnace (owen) external to a given temperature, for a period of 5 to 10 minutes to do this, I did a Subvi who works for this purpose (using a while loop set). If I put the Subvi in the structure (sequence stacked/flat) all of the process holds it until my Subvi is finished, but I want the overall process to move to the next sequence just after starting Subvi. How do I implement that?

    Any help is highly appreciated

    Warmly optimistic

    Morgan

You can use any loop in parallel.

Can someone help me make it work?
    Thank you

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.
    Use the following steps:
    (1) right click on the program
    2) click Properties
    3) click on the Compatibility tab
    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If you are running Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate version, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, you cannot run Windows XP mode, but you can try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com), or any other 3rd party software virtualization and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can find the virtualization software free that will run on Windows 7 Home Premium.

For a program of oldest back, I saw DosBox recommended by others. I think it's a free program. You may need to do some research.

    Thank you

  • 3850/3750 autonomous or Distribution stacked layer Question

    Hi all

I have a client with three buildings all very close to the other dorsal 62.5 MM of fibre. They exceeded it current topology and I am trying to implement a distribution layer using a couple of 3750's or 3850's. They have already invested in Netgear at the access layer and I try to make the two work together, Cisco and Netgear. My experience is with Cisco don't know Netgear as well. The mixed vendor environment needs tests, the thing I'm not sure of using a distribution layer stacked with channels of ether of the access layer.

The attached drawing shows the topology, I thought however, I have some concerns that I have documented in the drawing. Any advice would be appreciated.

Would you consider using a chassis with redundant sup, power supplies and descenders, for the same device, on maps of different lines, as a device of distribution (or core)?  If so, it's about what you have with a battery (or VSS pair).  That is, if a frame (or a VSS pair) is a valid design, why a battery would be too.

The benefits you have noted on your schema, for a battery would also apply to a frame (or a VSS pair).  Plus, you get more bandwidth.  PLEASE didn't need to block a redundant L2 path and stacking cables can provide more bandwidth then port 'normal '.

EtherChannel should work between sellers using LACP.  (At least on Cisco, remember to choose an optimal hash algorithm.)

The main disadvantage of a pile of Cisco, as a single chassis support redundancy, all the material is in a physical location.  Something is happening to this unique physical location, you lose this distribution node.

Another downside, you are subject to a software problem, as a single logical device (applies also to the simple chassis or pair VSS), but with multiple devices of L2, you are then subject to defects of FHRP, STP, etc..

  • Using mini gbic to stack 2 of SGE2010

    Hello

Is there a major advantage to use the GBIC ports to superimpose on the regular ports of GB (24 and 48, I think?) in terms of performance, stability, etc.?

    Thank you

    Neil

    Hi Neil,

So to answer the question quite simply, there is no additional benefit using mini GBIC (SFP) compared to a CAT6 cable to connect the switches in a stack.  Copper fittings or fiberglass can be synced to 1000 Mb/s.

The only advantage of the use of mini-GBIC SFP or; s if the connection between the switches are more than 100 meters, or 328 feet.

But I'm more happy to connect switches with CAT6 cables for cumulation purposes, is it more cost-effective.

    Best regards, Dave

  • OBIEE usage tracking

    Hi all

I'm exploring OBIEE use Tracking report and wanted to verify a few things.

There is a report that gives just 1 form and for most of the user the i.e.Total dry time execution time report shows 1-2 seconds.

However, I also see an entry for some users where it took 650 + dry to show the result. The report does not have a performance problem as its report just basic with 1 table.

Is there a specific reason, it shows the driest of total time?

I know If the user submitting the application leaves the page until the query is complete, then the final extraction never happens, and a timeout of 3600 value is saved. But this isn't the case here.

Is followed by its use not the evidence complete solution to find how long a report takes to show results?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards

Usage tracking tells you how long the BI server worked on the logical query, including the holding of open the ODBC cursor for the client (in general, presentation Services).

The time in monitoring its use often corresponds to what will be the final user, but not always. Things like paging through data etc. will give a time higher total in the monitoring of the use that the user experiences to display report data.

    Put it this way:

    • If users are complaining that the report took 650 seconds to return, and said use follow-up 650, then took 650
    • If users from phone to up and say their report takes 300 seconds to return, and said use follow-up 650, then it took 300
    • If its use followed said 650 and users did not report anything, then there may or not be 650 - you cannot make that assumption

Looking at the newspapers further to the top of the line (sawing with the largest level of debugging, for example), you can plot the response time of the specific request through the stack. Even in this case, you can only time point during which he left the server HTTP (WLS) - if the user is on a slow or rendered network slow browser can it make even more time.

  • Question of RPD OBIEE 12 c

    Gurus,

My question is perhaps stupid please help.

I installed OBIEE 12 c. I was able to connect to oracle and create a new RPD. When I try to open it in online mode its asking about a configuration of ODBC driver. I tried to set up the connection to the OBIEE server for the local host. It shows 4 instances OBI OBI SERVER 1 2 and 3. Which should I use and what is the purpose of having these in there?

Do you have an example of RPD content as we get for 11g - sampleapp. If it doesn't there please help me find a way to connect to my system. If this isn't the case, please correct me. Thank you.

    Concerning

    Hi Maraprik,

You must create a new system DSN to connect to the RPD in online mode.

    1. go in ODBC data sources.

    2. create a new system DSN

    3. Add the server of Oracle's BI.

4 specify the name and the Server (hostname), and then click Next (http://hostname:9502/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome).

    5. Please provide the connection information and the port 9514 (default).

    6. click on finish.

You should now be able to connect the RPD in online mode. It will be useful.

    Thank you

    Krishna

  • How to display only the total value in the upper part of the chart stacked

    Hi all

I need to display only the total value at the top of the stacked chart in the report of obiee 11g. Can someone help me on this please.

    Thank you

    Hello

Will be a little different approach suit you like the below a? Total for a day is displayed next to the attribute of the day. Here, the "daily amount" is also an attribute instead of a measure.
