Put MacBook to sleep when you run Windows XP on vmware Fusion / screen when opened black top (waking from sleep)
REF.: macbook 2.4 ghz, 4 GB of ram, osx 10.5.8, vmware fusion 2.0.5 running Windows XP sp3 with 2 GB of Ram assigned
Could you get it someone please let me know what is the reason that every time vmware runs, and I close the lid of my laptop, each time I open the cover to get back to work, I get only a black screen.
Should I be hitting the button suspend running vmware OS, before you close the lid of my computer and he get to sleep?
Thank you for any advise you can provide.
Kind regards
Hello
You can just put some time you're comfortable in these areas. It should not matter.
I think it is it is happening is that your guest is going to suspend - not the vmware suspend, but WinXP suspend mode - and that's for a reason any does not cover.
If my suggestions do not help, you can also try to re - install VMware tools, but take a snapshot before that, just in case

Error Code 1606 when installing software on iMac running Windows 7 in VMWare Fusion
I get this problem when you try to install 3rd party software: Error 1606: could not access network location \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\Pictures\
I use Windows 7 installed as a virtual machine using VMWare Fusion v 3.
Not sure if this is relevant - but when I open my computer, network location, 2 locations are shown: shared folders (\\.host) (y) and the files shared (\\.vmware-host) (z) -, which appear as disconnected network drives when you examine their properties.
I hope you can help!

Windows 8 - start screen tiles are black after waking from sleep
Recently installed Windows 8 Pro x 64. Whenever I have wake my computer from sleep and go to the home screen all the tiles are black, and the upper right corner where it shows my login and my avatar is missing. The rest start screen works as expected, and hovering just mouse over the tiles (or allowing the more alive to receive an update) will have show correctly.
I was running the pre-release of windows 8 without this problem.
My pc is completely up to date with drivers.
Data sheet:
I7 920
Gigabyte ex-58-extreme (bios f12)
2 x nvidia geforce gtx 580 in sli (310.97 driver whql)
Samsung 840 pro 256 GB ssd (windows disk)
2 x wd caviar black 2 TB
Creative xfi titanium hd (newest driver 3_00_2004)
Between the previews and update windows 8 retail I made a few changes, the only hardware change is the addition of the samsung SSD (previously on a wd raptor drive). The pilot 310.97 nvidia is also new, I was using an older version before.
I couldn't find anyone else with this issue a web search or a search here.
Anyone able to shed some light on this?

I solved this problem by updating the video card drivers. I lived this question about the version of the nvidia geforce 310.97 driver, but upgrading to 313.96 has solved the problem.

I use standalone converter where I am converting my local windows 7 in vmware fusion 4 at the exit. When I made the migration wizard previously, I had an output of a windows7.vmwarevm file. However, when I made the converter, I had a folder called windows7. In this case, I had several files.
Is there a way for me to convert all these files into one file, that is to say: windows7.vmwarevm? do I need to use the converter or other vmware tools?
Welcome to the community,
Please take a look at Re: how to convert a package/package of my folder on drive hard/vmware fusion? to see if that helps. This is a pretty old post, but I think that it is still valid.

Error 80072EFE when you run Windows Update on Win7 so wireless
You try to run Windows update on a new laptop from Toshiba with Windows 7 installed and a good wireless connection to a router I get error 80072EFE rather than a list of updates. If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine. I can then unplug the router and download updates more wireless.
Initially I was running tried to reinstall as 32-bit, 64-bit Win7, but made no difference. Tried to update after I just installed Win7 before Norton and other applications on. Contacted Belkin and they gave me a checklist of the router to do, but not better. Someone at - it ideas? The problem is reproducible even with Norton and other installed applications. If you connect the router updates Windows detects the updates to install. If you work with wireless it gets error 80072EFE.
Phil
If I connect directly to the router the updated list comes through fine.
Until you get your wireless connection problems straightened, run your manually check updates when you are connected to the router.

I recently bought a new computer, when I run Windows Update there is a process called TrustedInstaller.exe, taking 100% of one of the cores for a very long time (> 20 minutes).
I have vista 64 SP2 and all updates installed (took me over 3 days to complete).
Also, when I try to install additional features of windows (for example. IIS) the same thing happens, trusteinstaller takes 100% of the base and install new features forever.
I have not installed additional software so far is very little probable that a virus or spyware is the cause. When I'm not updating the an or install features of windows, the computer running quickly and the cpu load is not high at all.
How long was the computer connected to the internet before you installed Avast?
Can update you Avast manually?
The above, see if a reset fixes the problem:

Hello! I want to perform a destructive restore, but I lost my WIindows XP pro installation CD. At the same time, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 and I was wondering if I can just buy a Windows 7 upgrade disk and took the opportunity to do a full restore, I want to erase everything from my computer and put everything to factory settings, as if she was completely new.
What do you mean exactly by "destructive recovery? I take from your post, it means that you want to format the system drive and perform a new installation of Windows 7. In other words, start with a clean hard drive.
If this is correct, then YES; Indeed, during the upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 there is no actual "upgrade path" as the upgrade requires a custom (clean) installation of Windows 7.
The upgrade to Windows 7: frequently asked questions
(see: I am running Windows XP on my PC.) Buy Windows 7 upgrade version?)
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/upgrading-to-Windows-7-frequently-asked-questionsBefore the upgrade, if you haven't already done so, it is highly recommended to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to make sure that your computer is capable of running Windows 7. Windows 7 was designed to use the latest technology and equipment and many older machines are not able to run the new operating system.
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-AdvisorYou should also visit the windows Compatibility Center 7 to determine if all of the devices (printers, scanners, cameras, etc.) and the programs on your computer are compatible with Windows 7. For printers and other devices, you will need the name of the manufacturer and exact model number.
Windows 7 Compatibility Center
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspxThe upgrade to Windows 7 will also require that you will find and install the Windows 7 drivers (32-bit or 64-bit based on what you are upgrading to) for all you hardware and devices. This includes the BIOS (if any), the motherboard (chipset), audio, video, LAN, mouse and keyboard, printers, scanners, cameras, etc. In the case of printers, scanners and devices, you also need the software associated with your version of Windows 7 in addition to new drivers.
Creation of new drivers is the manufacturer of the device; in other words the computer manufacturer or the manufacturer of material or actual device. If your computer is a great brand (Dell, HP, etc) visit of the machine to support the site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific computer model. In the case of printers and others, visit the support from their manufacturer, still looking for new Windows 7 drivers for your specific camera model. Google is your friend.
