PXI-2530/2567/2593 Instrument map self-test

Hello

We will use the PXI-2530,-2567 module, &-2593 instrument cards in our chassis PXI-1044. We use LabVIEW software coding ATE platform. We would like to perform a self-test on the cards before the measures of the object to measure. Do you have any documentation that will support this task? The approach to check the functionality of card better by querying the records of the State of the map? In any case, I can't find any information online about this topic.

Thank you!

Dan

Hi dan_tuq,

That's all!  simply provide a valid handle for each call of niSwitch Self-Test VI.  Good luck!

Kind regards

  • Variation of thermal EMF of the PXI-2530 modules

This message/question is a companion of my the most recent message in another thread.

In addition to watching some resistance higher than expected that affected current measurements using modules PXI-2530 multiplexer 4W topology, I saw systematic variation in track-to-track blood pressure measurements. Tensions would increase gradually through the 16 channels in a configuration by measuring the voltage at the terminals a resistor 1.5 kOhm with 0.5 au crossing (75 uV). I've identified that the thermal EMF of the reed in the PXI2530 module switches is on the same order of magnitude of these measures and set out to quantify the differences EMF thermal track-to-track between my three modules.

Test method: I have a TB-50 which is configured to mux the signals of tension for a DMM. I connected each of the four DB-50 one cable of 176 pins to this block and collected with a PXI-4071 pressure readings set to 7.5 digits precision in the range of 100 mV and > 10 GOhm impedance. For most channels, it took several minutes for the voltage stabilize - or at least appear that it was to stabilize.

I enclose three graphs. Note that the vertical scale is the same on each.

Data that triggered this survey was collected with MUX1, via connector P2 to voltage. The magnitude was not quite the same-probably related to the phenomenon of stabilization time, but obviously the worst group of channels three multiplexer modules.

The three modules were all bought at the same time (about 2 years ago), but had only limited its use in the first year or more. The three now have various 'mileage' based on my use. But MUX1 clearly behaves differently two other modules. The

I changed my test conditions to spend 0.5 au via a higher resistance to thermal EMF less important. The PXI-2530 sheets indicate that thermal EMF must be less than 50 uV. In most of my measurements, it is. But not for MUX1!

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

You can check that all the three modules are PXI-2530, not PXI-2530 b (while, as the PXI-2530 b parts slightly higher thermal emf)?

Specification of emf thermal 50uV of the PXI-2530 is a typical value, is not a guarantee of spec.  See a few channels higher than the spec is not a cause for alarm, but it shows that we must take account of this in our measurement error.  Note that the industry standard for the technical measure thermal emf is to close the relay, wait a few minutes and then take a measure of tension.  For example, if you scan through a switch faster than a relay per minute or so, the thermal emf will be less predictable and stable.  A single module performs worse at these low voltages is not indicative that this module is a failure, etc. the module is fine.  Unfortunately, the reed relays have more emf thermal relay of the armature, mainly because of the many layers of metal in a Reed compared to a frame (each metal junction is a source of emf if these metals are not the same).

Thermal EMF is proportional to the temperature, it may be interesting to note the position of the chassis of the less powerful module.  Placing hottest modules (scanners, Ara, RF, etc.) will reduce the thermal emf.

    My environment:

8.1 Windows 64 bit running under Oracle VirtualBox Version 4.3.20 running Mac OS x on a MacBook Pro 2012 10.10.1. I have no prior exposure to work with myDAQ, LabView, or any tool of NOR.

I downloaded NIELVIS1400_downloader.exe for Windows 8.1 to ni.com and it is finished.

During installation I secured guarded against the problems of Win8FastStartup by stopping and restarting the PC when asked.

After the installation when I plugged it physically in the myDAQ device, it was recognized by Windows 8.1 because Device Manager has the 'data acquisition' entries under which "NEITHER myDAQ" appears. For NEITHER myDAQ device status is 'this device is functioning.

When the myDAQ was physically connected, the window "NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher" popped up. I clicked on the icon 'How to set up your hardware' and the 'get started Guide... "pop up. I checked the blue LED on the device came and it is stable on. I went to "2. Paragraph confirms the recognition of the devices"in implementing on the way, guide and follow the instructions to start the automatic test. There not as described above.

I noticed similar problems have been reported in the past. Closest to my problem reported by flex11 on 05/05/2014. Reading through I don't see any resolution itself. Another similar problem was solved by manually starting the service 'NOR device charger '. In my case, this service is already running. "NO license server" is the only service stopped, but I guess that's normal for myDAQ.

I don't have any other product OR installed on the PC.

I'm sure there is a simple solution to this problem, but I'm afraid it's escape. I'd appreciate any help I can get through this forum.

Thanks for getting back to me. Your answer gave me stamina I had to move forward.

I installed http://www.ni.com/download/ni-daqmx-14.2/5046/en/ and finally managed to do work. The exact boot sequence I need is:

    (1) delete myDAQ by USB port and then start Windows 8.1 under VirtualBox.

    (2) after that Windows 8.1 will appear, fix myDAQ on a USB port. If a pop-up window appears asking you to respond, ignore (at the beginning I did not ignore it and myDAQ transformed into a charger USB device firmware such as reported by Device Manager).

    (3) at this stage most likely "VirtualBox VM features-online USB Devices" drop-down menu shows "National Instruments NI myDAQ [0003]" as an entry but without a check mark to the left of the name. Bring the cursor to the left of the name and click here. You should now see a check mark there.

    (4) my myDAQ Self tests started working.

However, I need the functionality provided by ELVIS as well. So I uninstalled http://www.ni.com/download/ni-daqmx-14.2/5046/en/ and installed from NI ELVISmx 14.0. My boot sequence that I have reported above, didn't work. Just at the moment it's just happened that Oracle has released Version 4.22 of VirtualBox that I wanted to try and ELVIS started to run. I can now use myDAQ DMM.

One thing that contributed to my problems is fruitless attempts to uninstall the software OR. Unsuccessful uninstalls leave garbage behind who can or cannot cause problems in subsequent relocations. In one case, I'm done with the nidevldu (OR charger) service stuck in the system. I had to do a reset Windows 8.1 recovery operation to get rid of him. I decided to restart Windows 8.1 before uninstalling the software. This ensures that there is nothing in the limbo that past can interfere with a successful uninstallation.

    Hi JKSH,

I'm sure you've probably noticed, that the specific documentation is not accessible to the public. Please create a demand for service by clicking here and using the tools on the right side of the screen. Once you have created a service request, we continue to assess your situation and we hope to get you the documentation you need. Although parts of it may be, I'm not quite sure that figure in the manual that you have accessed is perfectly to scale. So, contact National Instruments more directly can be a better option for you.

  • SE "error-88705 occurred to self-test" for PCI-6520 after the electric bike for PC

    Hello

I use a card PCI-6520 on an industrial PC running Windows Embedded Standard (64 bit).  The card works fine in normal use, but if the PC is power off and back on (instead of closing Windows in the start menu), the map do not communicate to the start-up of the machine.  If I try to run a self-test to the MAX, I get the error "error-88705 occurred to the self-test.  The card remains unusable until I restart the PC in the start menu

Unfortunately this system will be used headless in an industrial application, so if he ever get turned off, it will be turning off the unit and not through windows or the soft power on the Panel switch front of the PC.  It is important that the machine can start in the application of LabVIEW in power on without any external intervention.

There is also an NI GigE in the PC card and continues to operate correctly regardless of the way in which the PC is off

    Some of the system features:

    Card mother Intel DH67CL

    8 GB RAM

    64-bit Windows Embedded OS

  • PXI-2530 query if row and column are connected

I use niSwitch Connect Channels.vi and niSwitch Channels.vi of disconnection to control a PXI-2530, the connections are made via an NI TB-2631 defined as a 4 x 32 1-wire matrix.

Is there a way to check if a column and a specific line to be connected or not connected?

If they are connected, trying to connect them again causes an error. Similarly, if they are not, trying to interrupt causes an error.

The strings that I use are to take the place of a switch on a Board, I develop the test. This switch allows the adjustment of frequency so I have sup - screw to use at appropriate times to switch to the frequency and to move to the frequency B. The problem is, if I already am frequency and attempt to set often has once again to another part of the test, I get an error.

Test structure is based on State Standard computer in the examples of LabVIEW. Because the test sequence can 'jump around' depending on the outcome of a test (I may need to redo a test if it fails), it is difficult to keep track of what state the frequency is set to.

    LabVIEW 8.5, Windows XP SP3.

    Kind regards.

    Hi sebster,

niSwitch can connect Channels.vi checks whether a column and a specific line to be connected or not connected.  The ability to access path output indicates if a path is valid.  I list below the possible values of the output of path capacity:

    (1) available path the path is possible and available.

Path Exists (2) the path is possible, but it already exists.

Path not supported (3) path is not possible in the module switching specified and topology.

Resources to use (4) the path is possible, but the track components are in use by a different existing path. You must destroy the other lane before creating this one.

Source of conflict (5) the path is possible, but the channels will connect two sources.

Channel is not available (6) channel 1 and channel 2 are configuration strings aren't available for external connections.

    I hope this helps!

  • How self test 6713 using DAQmx programmatically?

I use DAQmx and I need to be able to perform a self-test on a map of NI 6713 analog output without using MAX. Any suggestions?

    DevtPro,

As you can see in this document , the recommendation was to use Reset running as self-test in addition to other things.  Currently in DAQmx 8.9 and later there is a Self - Test.vi DAQmx that allows to run just a self-test.  I already submitted a change to this document and it should be reproduced soon.

  • Error code 200020 after self-test when chassis turns off

    Hello

This may seem absurd, but I accidentally ran a self-test to the MAX on one of the NI PXI boards (6533) in my chassis (NI 1042 q) when chassis power was off. He returned with an error code of 200020. The same thing has happened with three other NI PXI boards: 6723 6713 and 6221. I turned on the chassis and the same error code occurred. Then I restarted my computer, responsible for MAX, and no devices were found even more.

I followed the steps here to reset MAX, as well as the devices were recognized again, all the self-tests have passed again.

However, I am concerned as to why it happened. Why the error code keep occurring after that I turned on the chassis? Why MAX ceased to recognize my devices? Something is screwed up when I tried to connect with an off camera? In addition, what does error code 200020? I couldn't find documentation about it anywhere.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

From your description, it seems that you disable the chassis when the PC is still on. This will cause certainly some problems with your PXI devices, because you're basically hot-swapping PXI devices in your system. This may have also messed up things in MAX, as you saw. You should always have your PXI chassis before your start your computer turned on and turned off after your computer has been shut down. This allows your BIOS correctly enumerate the PXI card, which should hopefully avoid these mistakes in the future.

  • Portege R500 - defective cdrom causes very common on self-test

    Hi all

the internal CD-ROM drive in my R500 is no longer recognized. He went in the 'My computer' view in Windows XP. Sometimes he is shown as a unknown device in the control of the material, but most of the time that we show any. The cdrom still turns up to the insertion of a disc and seems to act "normal" (regarding the flashing of light, sound, etc.)

Given that this fault has occurred, the power on self test takes about 2 minutes before the operating system is started later. In addition, the screen goes black for about a minute after it is finished with this startup resolved (Windows XP) first of all, low screen. Sometimes, the same occurs during closing.

I don't know which is the reason why or if there is a third underlying cause, but he began to appear at the same time. Once activated the bios debug output, all the self tests have been printed as 'ok', but after the last test is finished, it is at a standstill (perhaps until some timeout kicks in).

You have any suggestions or should I send it in (that would be quite unpleasant for me, depending on the machine)?

    Hello

Are you sure that this problem is caused by the defective CD/DVD drive?
Of course a material error could affect the power on self test (POST), but it is really hard to tell if it s caused by ODD.

Hmmm, what you could do is remove the STRANGE to the laptop and to start the machine, in this case the MESSAGE should be transmitted correctly.
If this isn't the case, so I doubt that the problem could be linked to the STRANGE

However, if it s a hardware related issue, then the laptop should be addressed to the ASP in your country
The R500 does not seem to be an old book so I guess that the guarantee is valid and the repair must be made free of charge.

  • SMART short self-test - on the second hard drive

    HP Pavilion Elite e9270t - 3 yrs old, Win7.

Became the error SMART self-test short the original drive so I installed a replacement and transferred files.

I get the same error on the second h/d. I have my doubts that the second disk is having the exact same error and wonder if the s/w test is actually the problem.

It could very well be the connectors that gives you the question instead of the HARD drive itself. I would run the HARD drive test in BIOS instead of the short test.

    Try this:

    1. Plug the AC adapter into the computer if it is not already connected.
    2. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
    3. Press the power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS Setup menu.
    4. Use the right arrow or left arrow keys to navigate the menu selection to find the Auto test primary hard drive option. Depending on your BIOS, it is under diagnoses or tools.
    5. Select self-test primary hard drive, and then press the Enter key to start the test.
