Q9100 on a DV5 1171en?

Hello world

My laptop is a 1171en DV5 and I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade my Intel P8600 to Q9100?

Yani,

Thank you

He was able to do because both processors use the same socket and the FSB.

However, you will need to re - consider again and again. Why?

1. upgrade the processor will void your warranty.

2. the upgrade of processor for your model is not easy, see dv5 guide manual here

Need to dismantle the largest part of your share of laptops.

3 BIOS cannot detect Q9100 correctly, confirm it with HP

4. even if you do, Q9100 use 44 watts TDP while P8600 use only 25 watts TDP, in a simple way, it will generate more heat.

5. you have NVIDIA GeForce 9600 M GT which has already generated a lot of heat,

6. the flow of heat in your model is not designed for Q9100.

Unless that money is not part of your consideration, I recommend to do NOT to do.

You can get by with a faulty motherboard due to the overheating problem.

Well, until recently, I found an old hp laptop to my father and he let me keep. I know he has had some problems in the past, so I went online and found ways on how to fully factory reset, I tried many tricks and tips, but none match the menu or options. What I'm trying to understand, is how to CORRECTLY and accurately factory reset Pavilion dv5, which runs on Windows 7 Home premium.

    Hello:

Here are the different methods you can use to reset the PC.

If none of those working, you will need to order a set of recovery disc for the specific model dv5 you have.

  • Replacement of motherboard of HP DV5-1000

I accidentally spilled a drink on my laptop (DV5) - 1000 Intel.  I immediately turned it upside down, to let the liquid flow and close.  After cleaning, I restarted the laptop and everything was fine.  I thought I had all of the fluid out of there, but apparently not.  After about an hour of use, the laptop suddenly stopped as if the battery had been removed while running alternative.

The power button on the laptop would not... no light, no action.  I disassembled the laptop (I did this several times before, to replace the broken keys - they wear out prematurely; now mostly use an external mouse) and discovered traces of juice dried on a small area of the motherboard.  With the help of buffers and rubbing alcohol, I carefully cleaned all messes, let it dry overnight, then reassembled.  Unfortunately, this failed.

So, I have to assume that a component of the motherboard was short-circuited and is now non-fonctionnel, preventing the working laptop.  Frustrating to think it may be a single transistor that is the culprit, and I don't have the skills to troubleshoot it.  Therefore, the only hope is a new motherboard.  While I replaced front CPU and apply the thermal paste, I am a bit perplexed about how to deal with the GPU.

Which brings me to my question...

There are many slight variations with the cell phones of Pavilion DV5 series.  While many parts is compatible, I'm not sure about the motherboard once the appropriate processor is selected (AMD vs Intel).  He needs to be a very specific model?  There are several DV5 motherboard replacement parts available through various sources, but I'm not sure how small it is, once the CPU is put in correspondence. I have the impression that some may designed for specific GPU.  Mine has a 512 MB GPU nVidia.  But I do not know if it is possible to remove it and install on the new Board of Directors... They all come with a pre-installed GPU?

  • Cannot install any os in a hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev

Hi, my friend has an hp pavilion dv5 - 1120ev, he had top, pre installed windows vista. He asked me that if I could make the computer faster, so I told him, of course, you need to change OS to do this, you must install windows 7, I said. So I took with me, put windows 7 dvd, boot from the cd/dvd drive, deleted all partitions, even the recovery partition (I didn't know it came without a copy of disk recovery tools), partitioned the drive into 2 two new partitions, formatted and continued to install the os on the primary. The dvd that I used has all versions of windows 7, 32 and 64 bit, tried all, it gets stuck on the process of expansion, to 0% files (only with one version, she was 14%, I can't remember which), and it gives me the "windows cannot install required files. the file may be corrupted or missing. "Sure... error code: 0 x 80070017. Then, I tried with another dvd with winodws 7 ultimate, same thing. I also tried with the disc do not split into two, one partition, just in case windows is having problems expanding all of the files, just in case, same thing. Then I thought it was a bios thing, he had to be updated, which to be honest there cause of the version it is F.0C, and in the support section of the hp site, I found a newer version of it, which is also described as necessary for the latest operating system upgrade. I thought wow, that's it, I found it, I will upload a version of it bootable, version bootable cd to be precise, cause the bios version there back does not support booting from usb devices, I'll update it and install the operating system. NOPE. The site has an exe of the bios version. I tried to make a disk bootable with the bios in there (with the option of nero boot disc), I guess that I've not done it right, it could be a solution, but I could use some help on this. I also tried to install windows xp, so that I can install it the update of the bios, the same thing, I get the same error, only with the old blue sceen scholl. Finally, I tried to install windows vista Home premium, just in case the bios for a reason any has only accepted this operating system, no way, same error again! So now I'm not stuck wth no operating system, a pc unusable, nothing can be installed on it. I asked my friend that if the cd/dvd drive had some kind of problem, he said, had no problem with game discs, their loading and installation of games. Please HELP I don't know what to do! Thank you

Nevermind, I managed to solve the problem by taking the hard drive, put it in another phone and the windows installation, then put it back. It worked like charm, so the problem is 100% on the DVD player.

    Thank you

  • Pavilion DV5 - 2040ca: Volume and brightness not display when changed

Hey all, I recently formatted my laptop, a HP Pavilion DV5 - 2040ca and I noticed that (even after installing the drivers), it does not display the current volume/brightness when it is changed via the shortcut keys associated with the F - keys. I was wondering which driver will enable this function on my laptop, because it would be good to have.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

For your laptop, the screen on a brightness/volume is provided by HP MediaSmart SmartMenu - you can download this from the link below.

Note:  You should have at least 1 other MediaSmart software installed (any) before installing this.

When the installation is complete, restart the laptop.

  • patterns of card mother dv5

I have a laptop DV5-2135 I want to add a Bluetooth module. When I went to install it, I found it seems to be nowhere to be connected to the motherboard. Where it should be is nothing else than the connector for the speaker. Someone know where I can find the schematics for the jury of that particular system? Or tell me if I'm looking maybe in the wrong place for the connector. When I'm looking for the Board is marked with a BT

    Thank you very much.

    Hello ProfessorPhreak,

Thanks for the photos. According to the "HP Pavilion dv5-2135dx Entertainment Notebook PC product specifications". Your model of the dv5 series does not include Bluetooth modules. This does not explain why the connector is not located on the map. I'm sorry I missed that the first time I have answered.

A work around option you can do, is to buy a USB Bluetooth dongle. They can come in a low profile, not to reduce the portability of laptops.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP dv5 does not start with monitor plugged

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv5 1130ea. I have an external monitor that I use as a second screen. However, this week yet he refuses to start when I plug in the monitor, it keeps cycling of the boot sequence prior (I don't get the option to press ESC to see a menu). If I plug it after it is initialized in this will work, but it will not correctly identify the monitor and I can't make it work with the correct screen resolution.

Since these two problems are associated with monitor and appeared at the same time, I assume that they are related.

I am running Windows 7, but since it won't even be the bios (or what is called the replacement of HP) I don't know it's relevance.

    Thank you

    David

OK, solved the problem, it was not the laptop, it is the monitor.

  • Simple question - I have the hp pavilion dv5 - 1060 ew, this time with Win7 64 bit running on it.

As in the topic - hp dv5-1060ew, Win7 64 bit installed, I already own SODIMM 4 GB memory kit KHX6400S2ULK2 / 4G, I hoped to install. There are chances that it will work? As for now, when I use it - the computer is not running the system. If I would like to extend my memory, what would be the best option for me, since I could understand - something to do.

Thank in advance for any help.

    Hello:

I think that memory is too fancy for your PC. Have you checked each module one at a time?  Perhaps one is bad.

If you did, and the PC does not work, then it is not compatible with your laptop.

I'd go with standard portable memory like this.

    Hi @murrayotl ,

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I looked in your question in the subject of your HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx Entertainment Notebook, who need a new wireless card.

I searched Microsoft for a fix for this and that they indicate on the forums that if you change the channel of the router on a different channel, that might solve the problem of connection of 5 GHz.

You could disable IPV6 for the laptop. Some say this helps.

Solve this problem Microsoft Fix it 50413 here is a linkto help as well.

Now, with all the information that I gave, if you still require a match to the wireless card.

I need the serial number. Please seethe HP privacy statement . Then send it to me in a private message.

Thank you very much, the problem has been resolved.

The Solution: Run Windows Update and everything will be solved, actually it was an error inherenet on vista (Micrososft ISATAP adapter) so it might conflict with the Bluetooth device, and once the update is installed, all return to it's origin.
