• 5740 HP e-all-in-one printer: how to change the destination for the scans folder

  I bought a HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one printer I connected wireless to a Win 7 PC. A month later, I added a new win 10 PC in my network (LAN), and I also installed the printer on this new PC. When I went to scan a document using the HP (NO Windows Fax and Scan) print software, the printer asked me which PC to scan to, and I chose the old Win 7 PC. The scanned image went to the folder My Documents\My scans of Win 7 PC, as expected.

  Two questions, both assuming I want to use the HP software to scan:

  1. is there a way to set a default value of PC to the computer target for digital images?

  2. How can I change the folder to which scaned images are sent?

  What are the answers to these two Qs if I decide to use Windows Fax and Scan instead of the printer software?

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Yes, you get a more integrated experience if you install the vs HP software by using the Add method of the printer.   And Yes, you should be able to do much more PC software rather than on the front panel of the unit.    And Yes, the aspect analysis software PC is much better than the Windows Fax & Scan.   Windows Fax Scan & gives a good experience of the box and is sufficient for many, but for those who want to do more, such a framing auto, rotate, reorder pages, etc... the HP scanning software is much better.

  I forgot what version of HP comes with your OJ5740 scanning, but we she recently rejected a new more complete solution that comes with the version that installs for your device recommended.   Here is a link where you can get that below.   I recommend you to install the latest web downloadable full version for your device first.   Then install this

  HP extended Scan

  FTP://FTP.HP.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi for Windows.

  You'll then have two versions, one called "HP Scan" and the other called "HP Scan extended.   If you find that "HP Scan" looks like 'HP Scan expanded', while the product was the version latest (we drove to this new version about 2 years ago).

  2. are you referring to the computer screen or the printer?
  3. what function you are trying to use?
  4. don't you make changes to the computer before the show?

  If you are referring to the screen on the All in one printer, then I suggest you to contact the manufacture of the printer.

  According to specifications, your computer is shipped with the HP MediaSmart WebCam software. I found another post on this forum that links to a Windows 7 32/64 bit download of this application. Please see the solution post on this thread and click on the link next to MediaSmart Webcam to reinstall the webcam software:

  When I choose to scan or copy, my L7680 starts the function chosen, but after scanning about 3 inches of the page, the scan turns off light and the rest of the document will appear as solid black. Any ideas on what is the problem and how it can be repaired?

  I noticed the problem you are having with your Officejet Pro L7680.

  I understand that you notice the scanner bulb turn off and it's causing most of your explorations or copies of out of the black. It is a hardware problem that seems as the scanner begins to fail. I have a guide below for you that means two things to try, however, if the guide does not solve the problem, I would suggest calling technical support of HP. They have an option of recovery for you to buy a new unit.

  I was a little 'click happy' and change the display settings to widi without what is put in place. I don't know anything about widi! Now, I have a white screen and wonder if there is some way that I can return to the normal display settings.

  I try the functions on my new 5540 ENVY. Everything is set up and working correctly so far. I just printed a document from my iPad using the WIFI Direct function on the printer successfully. However, the default password on the printer for the WIFI Direct is simply "12345678". Surely, it should be replaced by a more secure password. My friend something printed its iPad - so obviously, this password is not exclusive to me, anyone can print stuff on my printer just for fun and I have a lot of students around me, the problem could become expensive for me and very boring. WIFI Direct signal covers a distance. I contacted HP telephone support, but the process is time consuming and I had to hang up because I had to work. Maybe someone here could give me instructions, and I can change the password when I have free time. I use wifi for internet (cable ethernet only) and the printer connected via USB to the computer. Also, when I turn on my computer (BUT NOT THE ROUTER) on the wireless function, the printer is and what I need to do is enter "12345678" and start printing. There is no guarantee either. Can someone tell me how to change the password for WIFI Direct 5540 envy? Thank you.

  I use this computer with an OfficeJet Pro 8500 a909 (USB connection). I'm in Switzerland and use E nglish on a Swiss German keyboard. I would like to have the center of HP solutions in English, but I can never manage it. And I get this message:

  I understand that you want to remove the administrative latch on your HP Officejet 7612. I'll be happy to help you.

  I'll message you private instructions you need to do a reset full semi. Note that reset will clear your wireless settings, then you may need to reconnect to your network when you have finished resetting. (It's like the printer out of box at that point).
