Qosmio F20-136: Question about upgrade memory

I purchased a Qosmio F20-136 with 512 MB of on-board RAM, but wanted to update, so bought additional 512 MB RAM (DDR2) for a total of 1024 RAM.

I said global PC sales guy I wanted only if the laptop has two slots.

I took the cap of the other week and only 1 slot is visible to the naked eye.

I do not go any further.

Does anyone know if there are two slots or that one meaning that I have to buy a bar of 1 GB DDR2?

Thank you very much

Hello

The Qosmio support two memory locations, and it should be possible to use 2 sticks of memory. You can upgrade the memory for max 2048 MB (2x1024Mo).
The locations of memory, you will find at the bottom of the unit. To remove the small cover that secures the slot. Also see the user manual. You should also find a detail.

PS: These modules of memory are supported:

DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

  • Qosmio F20-136 - Question about installing Linux in virtualization

I have Windows XP MCE 2005, Ubuntu 8.10 & openSUSE 11.0 on my laptop F20-136 (triple boot).

    I intend to:

0 save the partition Windows XP MCE 2005
    1. remove all the.
    2. install openSUSE w / Xen Virtualization.
    3. then create virtual machines to run backup Windows XP MCE 2005, new 8.10 of Ubuntu and other linux distributions.

    The questions are:
1 F20-136 requires Windows XP MCE 2005 as its main operating system?
I ask this question because I noticed that when I disable the builtin speakers in XP, I can't turn them on when I boot in openSUSE.
So it seems to me that XP with Toshiba drivers and other software on Toshiba system has complete control over the material.

    2. will it affect Qosmio player?

    3. is there any other software virtualization is better than openSUSE w / virtualization Xen?
I know MS Virtual PC, VMWare, VirtualBox.

Please note that probably I don't want Windows XP MCE 2005 + virtualization (which will be my last option). I would like to have virtualization using Linux, openSUSE preference as he impressed me with his ability to (fast start/stop<= 45="">

After further investigation, I think of virtualization VirtualBox which offers a bare metal solution, i.e. without operating system host is necessary.

VitualBox (hypervisor) layer can be installed directly on the hardware, and then the virtual machines can be created for different operating systems.

In this spirit, I have queries:

Say I back up the entire hard drive (just in case the plan everything is the draw, I would restore the image of the entire hard drive), delete the contents of the entire disk, install VirtuaBox.

    1. let Qosmio player as well, which by my understanding, is 10 GB of free space somewhere on the hard drive?

    2. I would be able to install XP MCE recovery disk to create a virtual machine?

  • Question about upgrade memory

Need advice on upgrading memory. I recently decided to upgrade my current memory 256 MB to 512 MB by adding an another 256 in an empty slot. My question is when I install the memory, I have to do something in the BIOS, or the system will automatically recognize the newly introduced memory.
    Thank you

    Hi Roohbir,

You have to change anything in your BIOS because the POSITION normally detects the available RAM modules. I would recommend watching the BIOS during the initial boot process to ensure that the new memory is found.

Soory if you already that, but please make sure that you clear yourself of any static build-up before touching your RAM modules. They are very easy to damage with a discharge of static electricity.

    Good luck with your upgrade.

  • Question about upgrading memory Satellite M55-S1001

can you please recommend what to do? I want to make my satellite m55-s1001 run faster please let me know, what do you recommend: 512 MB or 1 GB of memory? I'm not familiar with updates so please help!

    Hello

First of all, if you want to go for fastest laptop, you should start with simple things.
Try to defragment the disk, turn off the background process is not necessary, etc.
Upgrade memory will the powerful laptop and of course a lot more quickly.

To my knowledge the Satellite M55 should support the bars of memory 2 x 1024MB, and I also recommend the use of 1024MB instead of 512 MB module.

    Hello.

The time has come to upgrade my laptop, but I don't know how to get the full 4 GB of RAM in it.

Toshibas page for this computer says I have 4 GB, but also that its two memory locations only consist with maximum 1024 MB card. Is the only feasible supplement by vista ready boost or something?

The vehicle currently has two 512 MB 667 mhz pc5300' cards inside.

Please help me... I am looking to order these items very soon and I don't want to buy something that does not work.

    Thanks in advance.

I found the info you can increase the RAM to 4 GB. You have to buy 2 X 2 GB RAM modules.
So now the question is what OS you use, because 32-bit Vista recognize 3 GB only.

  • Question about upgrading memory

    Hello

I have a HP G62 Notebook pc with 3 GB of ram. I want to upgrade my memory to the maximum which I believe is 8 GB.

Is this possible? Is there a question I might encounter? Also, what would be the part number to buy it.

    Thank you

    SO-DIMM DDR2 - 800 like this:

    http://www.Amazon.com/memory-Pavilion-entertainment-dv7-1448dx-arch/DP/B009H4AZ7I

    http://www.memorystock.com/memory/HewlettPackardPaviliondv71448dx.html

Max is 2 x 4 GB total = 8 gig. Memory is behind the door of fat on the bottom.

Such things got stupid expensive, incidentally.

On the Forum, it is customary to mark an answer "Accept as Solution" if it solves the problem because then it gets indexed and is easier for others to find in the future if they have the same problem.

  • a question about upgrading memory CF for Cisco 3745

As we know, the cisco 3745 has 2 locations CF. memory One is internal with a 32 MB of memory by default CF card, another one is external.

    My question is:

1 is the same as the internal memory card CF CF external memory card?

    2. If I choose the upgrade of the plant CF memory from 32 MB to 128 MB, which slot will be used? Cisco remove the memory of 32MB CF card and install a new 128 MB card in the internal slot or simply add an additional CF memory card through the outside slot?

    Thank you!

    Hello

the reference for the internal and external numbers are different, which suggests that they are not compatible. So you will have to specify what you want to, for example, MEM3725-32U128CF (which is the internal upgrade) or MEM3725-128CF-EXT (which is the external upgrade).

In all cases, internal and external cards are not cumulative, in order to get e.g. 128 MB flash, you must either internal, or external card with these 128 MB:

    Q. can partition you the internal Cisco 3700 Series Compact Flash card and the card Compact Flash external to combine or separate them?

    A. No, you cannot join two separate Compact Flash cards or you can their partition.

  • Question about upgrading memory on a 490 CDT

    Hi, guys.
This is going to sound really stupid, but I bought a key of 64 meg of RAM to add to the 64 meg that was already in my laptop, I just bought the laptop a few days ago).
I followed the manual instructions to remove the palmrest and I can see the module memory, just sitting there laughing at me, but I don't see where would be a memory stick upgrade.
The manual says I can add the stick I have but all he seems to be saying is that... "There is a socket for expansion" with no idea where to find it.
    Any help appreciated.
    Steve

    Hello

normally when you have followed the instructions of the Manaual you should see the 2 RAM slots. We're free to upgrade, but if it has been upgraded in the past, ca change you only the former against your module!

If you have problems, you should call Service Toshiba partner or ask your dealer and ask if they can help you!

  • Question about upgrading memory on the Satellite L20-181

    Hello

The recommended minimum is memory for Windwows XP 256 MB and I don't understand how the company could get far notebook sale with integrated graphics with 256 MB shared system memory.

In any case, I want to improve my Toshiba and my intention is to buy 512 MB more memory, such as http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=20049&ft=m&st=3

Will it work properly with 768 MB or I will only buy the same pair: 256 + 256, 512 + 512?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

First of all, you are not right. Windows XP also works with the low value of the memory.
But of course it depends on memory so the OS applications will run more rapid or slower.

However, the fact is that you can upgrade the memory on your laptop and it doesn't mater if the modules have the same value of memory or not.
In this case, the laptop came with 256 MB and you can install detox the second module of 512 MB memory.

PS: I recommend installing the 512 MB in the first slot and the 256 MB in the second Bank.

I want to improve my memory up to 1 GB and I have a stick of pc3200 533.
I wonder if it would be ok or should I specifically pc2700?

    Thanks :)

    Hello

You can try the stick, I think that the stick will be low clock of 200 Mhz frontsidebus (PC3200) to 166 Mhz (PC2700) and should run flawlessly.
If you encounter errors with this stick, it would be useful to put some original toshiba RAM pc2700 inside.

To quickly answer your question: Yes. :)

    Hello

I have a laptop A100-027 Satellite with 2 x 512 MB of RAM installed. I would like to add additional memory.

I have used Crucial (www.crucial.com) Web site to scan my system and recommend the memory modules. According to Crucial the A100-027 support 2 x 2 GB modules giving 4 GB total.

However, a quick search using Google suggest I can only install modules of 2 x 1 GB (2 GB total).

    Can someone please clarify.

    Thanks in advance,

No, guys. The machine can be upgraded up to 4 GB, since the chipset is capable of handling 4 GB of RAM.

This means that you need to place 2 x 2 GB into the slots in the machine and you will have your upgaded system. :)

One of my machines is an A100 (Europe-, but it doesn´t any country, chipset is the same worldwide) and I ve upgraded to 4 Gig Ram kingston.

  • Question about upgrading memory on the Satellite A210-127

    I upgraded my memory form 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) 4 GB (2 x 2 GB) with two modules of memory Kingston KVR667D2S5 / 2G (PC2-5300 CL5).
For two weeks, he had no problems, but then I got the blue screen every time when the system starts making reference to I guss memory error.
I tried to replace the memory with original Toshiba but still blue screen modules. I conctacted service and they say that
It may be the incompatibility of memory, virus or malfunction of the hard drive.
After a few days of work on the solution I reinstal my laptop Toshiba DVD and replace the original brief. Now everything works fine.

I wonder is Kingston memory cause of my problem or somethig else?
Nobody knows is memory Kingston KVR667D2S5 / 2G 2 Gb compatibile with Toshiba?

    Hello

Honestly, the Kingston offers products of high quality and, I think, you are the first person who complains of Rams from Kingston.
If you visit the page Web of Kingston you can find a list of compatible RAM. Your module is listed here?

  • PROTECTED M400: Question about upgrade memory

    Hello

The M400 comes standard with 512 MB, I bought an extra 1 GB and installed in the second slot. I can't honestly say it has made a huge difference in speed, but I guess when I run intensive applications I could see some difference in performance.

In any case, I was wondering, does make a difference which slot guard what memories... e. g would make any difference if I put the 1gig module in the slot A and 512 in slot b?

At the location of the moment, A contains 512 and slot b contains 1gig.

    Thank you

    Hello

As I know there should not be much difference, but it is recommended to put the largest memory module into slot a. Please don t ask me why.

If you want more performance to disable all processes running unnecessary and also check MSCONFIG and disable the startup items, you need not.

I have a model Equium M50-244. What type of network adapter I need to fit a Wi - Fi connection on my hub (BT)?
Also, I currently have 512 MB of ram installed. Can I increase this?

    Hi cora,

Of course, you can improve the memory to a higher value.
This book must support 2 slots of memory and it should be possible to increase memory for max 2048 MB. In this case, you can use 2 x 1024Mo module.

I also found information that this laptop will accept this module:
    DDR2 400/533 256 MB (PA3389U - 1 M 25)
    512 MB DDR2-400/533 (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
    1 GB OF DDR2 400/533 (PA3411U-1M1G)

    Hello

I've owned a Qosmio F20-136 for about 4 years with XP Media Center installed. He and always does a great job despite the 1.6gz processor and 1.5 GB of ram. I was considering upgrading to Windows 7 However after looking I could not find any driver for the model for Windows 7 support.

Could someone help / tell me about that? Obviously I don't want an upgrade disaster!

    Hello

To be honest what do you think about upgrading to Windows 7 on a laptop for 4 years?

In your case I Don t do this upgrade. This computer laptop isn't designed for Windows 7, there are no drivers on the Toshiba site. Just be satisfied with your XP, it runs much faster than Windows 7.

Never touch a running system! ;)
