Qosmio F20 speakers making hissing noise

Hello

My Qosmio F20 has a strange problem. After turning on the laptop, the speakers start making a whistling noise. You can clearly hear it all the time. Toshiba has just replaced the motherboard but tis whistle is still there. Is it normal for the Qosmio F20? When I turn off the sound in Windows the whistle went, also after that put in headphones (there no hiss in the headphones...) the noise disappeared.

Thanks for the tips!

Borlando

Hello Borlando

Over the past two months also have F20 and I don't really no bad experiences. Sound quality is good especially with the virtual sound. F20 has small speakers and you can't force them up. I did some experiments with all the details of the built in speakers option and I am very satisfied.

Good bye

    Hello prince

Since a few days, I have a Qosmio F20. Beautiful machine. The speakers are so strong that I can't hear it if they are set to the maximum. I really don't understand how you can listen to music if sound is set to max.

Try using Toshiba virtual sound utility and adjust the sound using the detail settings. I am very satisfied and quality of the music is great.

  • Re: No sound after my first format... Qosmio F20

    Hello

I have just formatted my Qosmio F20 after 2 years of use. BUT! Unfortunately, I'm so disappointed because I used the "Product recovery" CD in order to have a secure and easy format, but the results were bad! There is no sound coming out of my speakers.

I have the logo "speaker" on the bottom right of my screen and I can raise and lower the volume but I still don't hear anything.

Also, I can play videos and songs and the "players" do not give me error messages regarding my sound sessions.

If everything seems Ok, but I don't know why I still can't hear you! I'm deaf? loooool

Furthermore, I have no problem with the built-in speakers say at the time I used the "product recovery CD.

Please let me know what I need to do! : S

    Thanks for your time,
    Jeffrey

Its always best to use the recovery CD when you reinstall Windows, it will have all the drivers and patches the system must :)

Try clicking on Mute, then it activate several times. Mute may get "stuck" in "secret" mode after reinstalling Windows.
Check also that the physical volume knob is completely assembled.

  • Qosmio F20 with Vista RTM

I managed to install Windows Vista RTM on my Qosmio F20-155 aircraft. The installation went smoothly and all is well.

I have the following problems, which I assume are common with everyone:
    -No SD card support
-Waiting for new drivers from nVidia card
-Fn keys and multimedia keys do not work

However, something that I'm not sure that everyone knows is this lack of sound support. Vista acknowledged that the sound card is "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio". However, I hear any sound on my speakers. I tried to force another driver (the Tecra,) found on the support site, but Vista would fire a BSOD and die. I don't know that there is nothing wrong with my laptop because the Qosmio player can produce sound normally (from Windows to the outside).

Anyone with the same problem? And don't you think the RTM drivers are going to be late?

Yes, I think that all drivers Toshiba will be released in the coming weeks, months?
    We'll see...

  • Sound distortion on Qosmio F20

    Hi all

I have a strange problem with my Qosmio. Sometimes when I listen to music or watch movies, the sound from the left speaker is distorted by the resonancing computer case. Sometimes, when I listen to very loud music. Some frequencies deal cracking, which is very frustrating. Sound crackles disappears, when I press the case about 5 mm under the speaker.

I know that the speakers of Qosmios are really good, but when the case resonates, it doesn't have a meaning!

What more - my brother has the same model and the same problem.

    Could someone help me?

    Thank you!

    Hello Marcin

According to your assignment, I imagine that the speakers are not fixed correctly, and there is probably some strange vibrations. I don't know how it works but on my laptop Qosmio F20 I can turn the cover of speakers. Try to move gently to the left or right and see if you can screw down.

Please be gently when you do this!

  • Qosmio F20-149 is very noisy

My laptop is very noisy. Constanstly it is vey, can someone help me please? Any updates?
    Thank you!

    Hello

Qosmio F20 is a laptop upscale with a heavy performance.
The strong CPU and graphics card produce a lot of heat, which increases the temperature. It must be cooled. The fact is that for cooling this laptop you need a high-end modules, and cooling fans. These fans make a noise.
There is a possibility to control the fans. In the energy saver, you'll find options that are responsible for the use of the CPU and fans.

  • Re: Qosmio F20-137 - after I installed Windows 7 I have no sound

I installed Windows 7 on my Qosmio F20 and all the drivers have been installed by windows update after I connected to the Internet.
I can play music and videon to files in Windows Media player, but there is no sound in speakers or if I connect the headphones.
If I look on the driver for the sound in devicemanager he says that everything is OK. Does anyone know what is the problem?

I also reinstalled Windows 7 but still the same problem.

    Kind regards
    Henrik

    Hi sta1n,

Maybe the sound is muted... Check using the FN + ESC key combination that can toggle the sound.

Also, check the page of Toshiba. Qosmio F20 taken Windows 7 isn't supported so that you can try the Vista driver.

  • Qosmio F20 reformatted with WXP - missing drivers

Hey guys, I have a Toshiba Qosmio F20, I bought 3 years ago and its running fine until a few weeks back, when he just wouldn t getting started, things would turn out, but when the Windows XP register you domes I get a blue screen and all of a sudden, he stops and restarts... so I managed to install Windows XP Professional on it everything works fine now, but I couldn't t get connected to the internet.

One of my friends told me that I had to reinstall the hardware drivers, so I thought that if I went to control panel > performance and maintenance > hardware devices > I see a list of equipment that had few points of exclamation by them, the list contains the following items:

    1. Ethernet controller
    2. Mass Storage Controller
    3. multimedia Audio Controller
    4. multimedia video controller
    5. network controller
    6 PCI Modem
    7. video Controller (VGA Compatible)

In one of them if I go to the properties, all the information on there are "unknown", as the driver provider: unknown, the hardware manufacturer: unknown... If anyone has the manufacturer and the name of the hardware on my list, please post them, I really need this phone working in the next few days, go for Christmas...

    Thank you very much
    Redding.

If you get a recovery disk with your laptop, use the disc.

On the recovery disk Toshiba are all drivers and Toshiba tools include. Then you n t need to download and install each driver.

But when you want to do this or lost the disk, you can download the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

I always use the Toshiba recovery disc for my Toshiba laptop, and it works perfectly. So I save a lot of time and work.

  • Sound distortion speaker on my Qosmio F20

Since I bought my Qosmio F20 a few year ago, I knew a distortion by the internal speakers, even in very low volume. I even sent the laptop back a few weeks after I bought it because I thought that they were defective. Despite Toshiba replacement (or who claim to replace) the speakers, there is no difference. What I am doing wrong? I tried to disable graphic equalizer that helps but does not eliminate the problem. I think it's more to do with the frequency of the sound volume level.

It seems strange that a laptop designed for multimedia such a fundamental flaw.

    > It seems strange that a laptop designed for multimedia such a fundamental flaw.
To be honest, I can't imagine something like that. I've worked long with Qosmio G20. OK, it is a larger but very similar to your Qosmio F20 small model. I can say that the sound was perfect.

For me, it is not easy to understand what you mean with sound distortion. Is there some sort of interruption or what? This happens to you a time when sound comes through the speakers (start = towards the top of his, CD music, DVD movies, mp3, internet radio)?

Did you notice HARD drive activity when this happens?

  • Qosmio F20-136: is your fan permanently on?

I noticed that on my Qosmio F20-136 cooling fan never shuts. There when I start the machine and don't vary in speed, or stop, except when the machine is off.

Is this normal for this model? Everybody suffers the same constant hairdryer noise?

I try to install the fan control software and re - install the latest orders Tosh Power saver, but nothing does make a difference.

I got Qosmio F20 for two weeks at home and I noticed the same thing. I don't think it's something unusual. I noticed that cooling fan works often or permanent but very slow speed.

Most of the time when you work on PC, I listen to the music and for me it was not disturbing at all.

  • A few questions about the Qosmio F20 upgrade

First of all, my English is not very good!

I want to improve my laptop. I want a new graphics card and a new processor.
My questions are what standard mxm has my cell phone (I have a GO6600)? Where can I buy a new one?
The cpu can be improved? If so what CPU? Can be installed on a dual core?

-Does anyone know how the open a Qosmio f20.
I opened all the screws on the site but I can not open it... What should I do I open Notepad?

My laptop dvd drive is very strong when I play games... it works all the time and I have made many drowning.
Do you know how to reduce noise?

    thx for the answers

Hardware upgrade on laptops is not comparable with the workstations where you can upgrade almost everything. Mainly on laptops, you can improve RAM, WLAN, HARD drive or maybe BT but all that s.

Update graphics card is definitely not possible because the graphics card is part of the motherboard. Update CPU's might be possible, but certainly not recommendable. The construction of any material is designed by technicians and configured to provide optimal use. If optimal use, you understand very good performance but without the possibility to destroy the material. The common problem on mobile computing is heat and how to cool the hardware components.

The best graphics card and CPU using the material temperature is much higher and the result can be permanent running fan or just property damage. If you think about all this stuff, I hope you understand that this type of upgrade can be very risky.

If you need to better and more powerful portable computer the best option is to sell your old and buy newer with the best hardware configuration.

  • Qosmio F20-137: very noisy left speaker

Just had the Qosmio F20 - 137 3 days. The left speaker or something in the chassis is teeming with some frequenzies in the sound. It is very annoying, especially since I bought this for multimedia application. Does anyone know if there is a reason known to the buzz?

    Hello

All speakers usually begin to vibrate (for the buzz) if the bass is high.
I think it s not a malfunction. You should check that the sound properties and you shouldn't t turn on maximum bass controller.

    Good bye

Unfortunately, there is no link to download. Please order for money from Toshiba:

    [Recovery disk | https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx]

Or copy of windows disk and do a custom installation. All drivers and utilities can be found here:

  • Qosmio F20: Bad sound using the MSN Messenger & video transmission

    Hi all

I recently bought a laptop Qosmio F20, who is currently connected to the Internet via a router/modem WiFi Netgear (DG834v2).
I tried to use MSN messenger v7.5 (7.5.0311 and 7.5.0324) with a webcam Creative NX () to make a video call.
But the sound of the person I'm talking to is so distorted, it is impossible to have a conversation (I tried with several of my friends, who all have good sound on their end).
However, if I have an audio only (no video) conversation, I have a perfect sound.
Despite my best efforts (update drivers, reinstall messenger, windows firewall ok for messenger etc...) I've had no chance of finding the problem so far. If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance.
    François

    Hello

You suggested that the sound working properly without the video connection.
In my opinion, it happens because of the webcam. Maybe the software has a bad influence on the sound.
This is not a product of Toshiba, and Toshiba is not responsible for any 3rd party device.
I recommend you to check the site of the manufacture of cam. Maybe you will find the solution.
