Hey stephanie

You can use your laptop with AC power only (the battery is removed)?
What happens when you put the battery while the laptop is already running Win7?

  • How to configure the buttons on the Qosmio F50 - 12J LED?

I've recently upgraded to Vista with Windows 7 Ultimate edition. I downloaded the drivers of value added package and it seems to work, but I can not configure some of the buttons because when I press the LED button and the support of key Toshiba starts there is not some options for the buttons that were there in Windows Vista...

Is there a way I could add the same button options I had with Windows Vista?
My laptop is the Qosmio F50 - 12J and I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

  • Re: Qosmio F50 - 12J - FN key doesn't work only with new value-added package

    Hello
    I have Toshiba Qosmio F50 - 12J and have problems with value-added Package v 1.2.28.

I can't get flash cards to work. When I press FN key on nothing happens. BTW, I installed VAP on freshly installed Windows 7 64-bit. With the VAP previuos version that I tried on Windows 7, KeNotify.exe broke. Now there is no apparent crash, but nothing happens.

Also, is there a problem with the utility of the Support Button (which touch). Whenever I reboot my system, all the white light LED on my laptop turned on even though I have them turned off.

So, could someone confirm that they have a work of value added Package v 1.2.28 on Windows 7 64 bit?

    Hello

I had the same problem on my Qosmio F50. The solution is just to install Flash Cards Support utility. This tool is designed for Vista, but I noticed that it also works on Windows 7. Just check the Toshiba page where you can download:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

In addition the lighting buttons work correctly on my F50. You can use them properly, or what happens exactly, if you press one of them?

By the way: there are two different versions of BIOS on the Toshiba site. You use the BIOS for Windows 64-bit? Check this box!

  • Re: Qosmio F50 - where can I get drivers for Windows 7?

    Hello

My University has a MSDNAA Microsoft's contract, allowing all students to benefit from free licenses of Windows, including Windows 7 Pro (32-bit and 64-bit). I had one since September 15, and Toshiba Europe has not yet posted any drivers for my Qosmio F50, so I can't use it.

    All solutions?

PS: I went on the site of Toshiba USA and they have drivers for the Qosmio F55 (the European equivalent of the F50), so if any of you can tell me what F55 is equivalent to the F50 - 10 K, I'll be more than happy to try to get its pilots, test them and get back to you with your comments.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think that no one is able to tell what American model is exactly the European F50 - 10K. ;)
In your case I choose a F55 model and download the drivers. Try to install and see what happens. After this, you can post the result as it might be interesting for other users.

Normally there is no significant difference between the F50 models.

Furthermore, most Vista drivers should also work on Windows 7. It s worth a try! ;)

  • Qosmio F50 - warranty for the battery problem

I bought a F-50 from Toshiba to Saudi Arabia. He has a 3-year international warranty.
But last month my battery or my adapter (No. Clue which one it is) started acting weird. I mean my battery charges to 60-65%.
So I removed my battery and started using only the adapter directly and my laptop works very well.

Recently, I called the service center and told them my problem and they confirmed that my battery is the real problem... OK fine...
I also told them my laptop has 3 years international warranty and they provide a free service... they said that my laptop has 3 year warranty, but the battery has only 1 year warranty... which means I have to buy a new battery...

I'm basically located in Chennai, India and I want to know if it's true. Is it true that the battery has only 1 year warranty?
Is it possible I could get a battery without paying. Is there any body else facing this same problem? *

And can someone tell me where I could give my phone to maintain it here in Chennai...

Thank you (I hope you understand what I mean)... ;-)

    Hello

I have never heard of this issue and I must say that my Qosmio F50 really works great without any problem.

It's not easy to say what is the reason, but you use the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows? Normally with preinstalled Windows should work without any problems.
In addition, it would be interesting to know if you have installed a display driver not Toshiba. These drivers can overheat the system and damage the graphics card so make sure you use the display on the site of Toshiba driver.

Last but not least, you should check the mode of cooling on battery mode. Maybe you don t have a maximum cooling on battery and overheating of laptop mode. You can resolve this problem if you clean the laptop using a jet of compressed air and always the value of the maximum cooling performance.

    Good bye

  • Little help for a Qosmio F50 and win 8 is required

    Hello

I have an old Qosmio F50 and since he still has enough power to manage Windows 8 I decided to give it a try. What I did is a clean install of WIN 8 x 64 pro and I used a mixture of various models of Toshiba drivers and third parties. The results were not bad, since everything works except for a weird thing.

    Specifically, I used:
-Drivers of the Chipset V, 9.4.0.1022 directly from Intel.
-V with Toshiba HD processor driver, 1.0.2.71
    -Enecir v. 2.7.4.1 drivers
-Realtek High definition audio drivers R271
    V battery Bluetooth 8.00.12 (T)
    -VGA Nvidia 320.49 drivers
-ALPS V8.x0.303.206 drivers for the touchpad
-Camera assistant software v 1.7.260.0526L (a bit unstable and settings reset every now and then, but always functional.) The most recent camera app couldn't handle the old Chicony)
-Everything was provided by Windows Update.

    And finally, I used:
Toshiba 1.00.6626.06 function key, cards Flash 1.51.8.2C (version b) .and v.1.3.3.64 SpecApp.exe (aka the button support)

The only problem I have is with the touch media buttons. While working as it should and I can remap them with the SpecApp.exe very well, they do a crazy thing:
Sometimes, as well as the proper functioning of the button will open also calculator of windows which is quite annoying. I tried many things including the search in the registry, but I couldn't find a way to solve it, so if someone could help that would be great.

Other than this problem, everything works just perfect, including all FN keys.

Thank you for reading and if you have an idea I'm all ears.

It is always a challenge to such experiences as new installation OS on an old machine and unsupported. Let's see if someone else with the same machine had success with Win8.

Anyway, there is always something that will not work correctly. The key is that most of the stuff works well, so if you will not be able to find the solution for touch buttons, in my view, that it's not so bad.

  • Qosmio F50 - 10Z Bios Update crashed - how a cmos reset?

I have a Qosmio F50 - 10Z and prompted by toshiba I downloaded the Bios Update and started to install.
My screen saver came and it crashed.

Not turn off (even after pressing the power button for 15 seconds).
The drums and then put back. Computer skills on but the screen is blank and will not boot to the top.

Tried to take part to Flash the bios by removing battery cmos/rtc (whatever it's called) but cannot find the battery and got to the point where I wasn't ready to dismantle any more (nobody else never disassembled a?)

Could not find information or diagram or picture where the battery has been on the net... manual really useless laptop)

Found reviews records of crisis, but I don't know what that means.

So, how to I reset the bios?

Please help - you're my only hope.

    > So, now, I find the cmos/rtc battery (if it's rechargeable explains so why does not easily localized) removed, he persevered on in a more accessible place - always reset BIOS

Removing battery RTC would not help reset you mate sorry to the ROM BIOS module but what you did was completely useless
It seems that the ROM modules where the BIOS is stored, was not properly flashed or something went wrong during the flash procedure

In case of bad you the mobo is unfortunate but I think that Flash module ROM once more with a disc of crisis could help solve this case
But the fact is that flashing the ROM module with a disc of crisis can be done by a technician of Toshiba ASP.
That's why I recommend contacting the guys in your country and ask for flashing ROM

Temperature at which I am writing this post is 60 ° C, as always when I do _completly nothing_.

Can I have your help guys? Thank you.

    Hello

The Windows XP drivers are not available for the Qosmio F50.
I found only the drivers for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit OS.

Your problem could be related to the Win XP drivers that are not certified by Toshiba
The point is that this drivers don t support an overheating protection as do Toshiba drivers
So maybe this is the reason why the GPU temperature increases to 60 C.
But to be honest, the 60 ° C is not too high and each party will create more heat dissipation when running certain games or applications high performance
