Qosmio G20 and Acronis True Image

Hello

I have a G20 with the media library and twin 100 GB hard disks that are configured to act as two separate discs (set up of RAID options when I reinstalled the system). I have programs on a disk (C) and the operating system and my data on the other (D).

On a previous thread I asked to retrieve the C drive only from the recovery disks without wipe data on the D drive, and it seems that this is not possible, to remedy this, I decided to follow the suggested advice and create an image of the C drive for later retrieval if necessary. However, I have had a problem of creating an image or a clone of my system using Acronis True Image disk and wonder if anyone can help. I replaced the D drive with a new disk of 120 GB and uses the old drive in a USB enclosure sata to store the clone or image recovered.

First of all, all devices, readers ext usb, wireless keyboard, cable network & second screen are connected through a hub to a USB docking station, and when I try to clone with this joint, it fails to restart. Undeterred, I took off the hub and the clone for the external drive seems to work very well. However, when I remove the drive from the existing system and replace it with the clone to test, it does not work. The system appears to start but then get the screen where it says windows windows had a problem and I want to start in safe mode, last known working system, or start as usual in any case. If I select it just reboots and gets back to this screen.

Also, I tried to create an image rather than a clone and recover the image on the hot spare. Once again, it seems to go ok but when I put the disc and satrt to the top of the same thing happens.

I don't know if there is anything that you must close before imaging or cloning as the instructions don't say, so don't know if theres nothing running that may affect it. The instructions are pretty basic but seem pretty simple, so I do not see where I am going wrong.

Does anyone have experience of this type of problem and how to fix it.

Thank you very much

A few months ago I acquired a regular copy of Acronis True image for my G20.

After that many negative attempts to use the program, who do not recognize the disks
I asked for help using Acronis
which solves the problem brilliantly, sending me a special version on purpose
for the difficult features of the Qosmio system.

If you an e-mail to the Acronis media, they probably have in the Archives of the version
for the Qosmio G20.

  • Backup Windows disabled by Acronis True Image 2011

I discovered that the uninstallation of Acronis True Image 2011 will disable the Windows 7 backup program. The link is displayed on the Control Panel, but clicking on it does nothing. I've read elsewhere that the problem may be that Acronis mess up the registry of Windows, but I don't know how to fix this and hesitate to try. Acronis seems indifferent to the fixing of the problem - their proposed solution is that I just keep using Acronis and forget to backup Windows. I would appreciate the help.

I would also say that this exposes a vulnerability in Windows 7. It should prevent the modification of the behavior of the windows installed programs or at least ask for permission until it is granted.

This does not have the problem, I've identified, which is that the UNINSTALL Acronis True Image Home leaves disabled Windows backup. Fixing the problem requires the user to modify the Windows registry. Changes have now been contributed by a user and Acronis continues to refuse to address the problem. • T61 - unsuccessful attempt to upgrade the HDD using "Acronis True Image - disk clone".

    T61, Win XP Pro,

Problems with the free space on HDD - disk(160GB) factory original is more than 90% full.

There are a lot of existing user settings and the user information on the HARD drive - of the specific settings for different network environments (home network, company network, VPN, etc.), specific applications, a lot of drivers for specific devices, many documents and photos and other information.

So, we need to upgrade the disk, but we do not want to go back to factory state - we want to keep all existing user settings and user information.

The existing drive was dismantled and connected to a standard desktop PC.

And using "Acronis True Image Home" the existing drive has been cloned again drive WD Scorpio Black 320 GB.

There is not any errors during the cloning process.

But when we set up the new drive of the laptop, the OS has not started - black screen with blinking cursor only flashing white dash (top left). So, we put back the old disk, in order to work.

After cloning, we see the new disk is similar, as it is on the old drive. There are two partition - hidden, system partition partition with Windows XP and all user folders and documents. Thus, we believe that the problem is only in part "start".

Everyone can us advice what is the problem.

Or we let another solution how to change the drive, but without going to the factory condition.

    Thank you

  • Converter standalone problem with Acronis True Image Home 2013

I installed vmware vcenter converter standalone client/server Version 5.1.0 build-1087880 on my pc which has also installed VMware player.  I have true image home installed 2013 as well and have a file tib I want to use it as a virtual image.  I select local computer on the converter, select the source type 'Backup image or third-party virtual machine' and Virtual Machine file: and navigate to the local file that is a .tib.  If I then select "view source...". "it gives me the error"the source settings are incorrect. »

I noticed that the documentation says that the converter works with acronis true image 10 and 11.  Is this the reason why I get the error message or is this error caused by something else?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, unfortunately VMware Converter does not support the current versions of Acronis image.

  • Acronis True Image 2013 conversion to vmware Workstation

I'm trying to convert an Acronis. TIB archives to a virtual Workstation machine.  I installed vCenter Converter 5.0, but when I tried to start a conversion I get an invalid 'settings' message when I select the. TIB archives.

Any ideas on how to get Acronis True Image 2013 and vmware play nice, because the converter says that he supports the TIB files?

    Thank you!

To answer the second part of your question, you can try creating a new target VM with blank disks big enough to hold the source image, restore the image of the new virtual machine using the provided software Acronis (CD bood?) and then run on the newly created VM converter by selecting the option "Reconfiguration" (if all goes well it will be the result in workstation boot).

  • How can I get a feature similar to Acronis True Image?

    Hello

I have been using VMware WS 6.5 with a Windows XP Pro VM for a while. From time to time I will add a new tool that I need the virtual machine. I have an independent drive do I temporarily persistent when I add a new tool and then make non-persistent after that I stopped him. This way I can install trial programs and then return to the previous state to stop the virtual machine. Recently, I installed a test program of the virtual machine, requiring a reset of the service, so I made the drive for the installation and reboot and then made non-persistent. I did a snapshot of the virtual machine before you install the program, and I thought I could just go back to that snapshot. I discovered than that don't revert not the independent drive, by design, so I'm stuck having to uninstall the program from sort of back to where I was before the installation. It's certainly less than optimal since uninstallers typically leaves garbage behind which could cause conflicts, etc. It is also a concern. This kind of defeated the purpose of the take a snapshot. I expect the snapshot as incremental backups in Acronis True Image, which is very convenient. You can revert to a State before the installation as if you never did the installation.

My question is, what is the best way to get this kind of incremental backup feature that allows me to return to a previously saved state, including the State of the reader? The options are many, but there must be an effective and optimal way to do it. Cloning of virtual machines to different States would work, but is not effective.

For your case you must include return your virtual disk for the snapshot process if you need to change your disk mode. If you have a single disc (you cause I guess):

Before you begin, turn off the virtual machine and delete all copies existing.

To include a virtual disk in the process of snapshot:
    1. Select the virtual machine.

    2. choose VM > Settings.

    3. on the Hardware tab, select the drive and click Advanced.

4 then, uncheck to deselect independent.

You will be able to use the snapshot feature manually.

So before you install a new program, you must take the snapshot by going to the file menu and choosing VM > snapshot > Take snapshot (or by clicking on the icon in the toolbar Shapshot).

When you have completed your new test program and you want to go back, choose VM > Snapshot > go back to the snapshot.

Hopefully it's now clearer for you...

  • Qosmio G20 and Windows 7

    Hello

I have an old Qosmio G20-115 that uses the RAID controller for two hard disks. I tried to install Windows 7 (RC1) and Windows Vista, but I'm still stuck at time of installation of Windows, detect hard drives. After reading the various reports from this forum and others sources on the web, I tried many times to get setup to detect the discs using drivers from various different sources, but nothing helped.

Is there something more fundamental, that I hurt myself? What RAID parameters need to be defined in the BIOS when trying to install an OS? If someone managed to get Windows 7 (RC1) working on their G20? Someone at - it pilots have tested and they managed to get Vista/Windows 7 on their G20-115 s?

For any help or suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

When installing Win7, you must have the RAID driver on a floppy disk or USB key. Win7 Setup prompts you for a custom storage driver.

You can get the RAID for Vista driver on the Toshiba site. It should work in win7.
