Qosmio G20: Can't burn CD but only DVD - power calibration error

Hello

I am having trouble, and I think it's very strange.
I can't record audio cd or data!

I used sonic reducer, like nero, like windows media player... tried 3 different brands of cd'r and I can not burn audio or data files in one of these... But... I can burn DVDs... it's very strange right?

PS: when I record with nero, I keep having this message on the relatory of the engraving: 'power, calibration error' but only i when I try to burn Cda´s... DVD recording has not this problem

I have to update some drivers?

Please, any help would be great, or I'll have to make a big trip to resolve the problem on the laptop store.

concerning

Hello

I'm afraid you will have to make a trip: (m
Information about the burning process was very useful.
This confirms my fears.
In my opinion there is not a lot to do and the drive needs to be replaced. There is a power calibration error. This happens if the lens can not calibrate correctly. If you use different media the lens must be calibrated every time before the combustion process will begin.

I think that you will need to contact the Toshiba ASP in your country

    Hello

Well, basically, that's my problem. The other day I tried to burn a dvd but kept getting the "power calibration error" tried different DVD and burning software, but still the same problem, although I can burn DVDs perfectly.

    Any ideas anyone?
    Thank you.

    Hi dude

    Unfortunately, this doesn't sound good.
Power calibration error is known to me and it seems that there is no other way to replace the CD/DVD drive with the new.

According to the error message is unable to calibrate s lens by car in the right position and that's why the drive can't handle certain mediums.

See your owner's manual for compatible CD/DVD players.
If you want you can also control the caught player in charge of a partner of service authorized in your country.

  • Satellite L20: Cannot burn DVDs - power calibration error

    Hello

I have problems when you try to burn the DVD on my Toshiba Satellite L20. Nero indicates a "power calibration error". Lens and drive have been cleaned up, but it did not help. Supprisingly, DVR +/-RW and CD are treated correctly. DVD player of any sort is also OK. Only burning DVDs (+/-), regardless of their manufacturer, fails.

The next step, I wanted to put a fresh firmware in the drive which is Mat * a UJ - 841 S. I found the firmware on another site of PC companies. But the installer stops with the message that it does not apply to my reader however it was designed exactly for this kind of car.

On the website of Panasonic, manufacturer of the drive, there is the information that support for this model is provided by the hardware vendor - in this case, it is Toshiba. But there is no firmware for this drive on Toshiba support pages.

    Can anyone help me, please.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Piotr

First of all, note that after the installation of non-Toshiba firmware yourself, will lose it warranty for the reader. In any case, on a forum I found an interesting solution. You can try:

    1) click Start
    (2) select control panel
    3) click on Administrative Tools
    4) click on services
    (5) go your way down to SERVICE of the COM of ENGRAVING of IMAPI CD
    (6) right-click (on IMAPI), and then select Properties
    (7) in the middle of the window, it will say start type. Click the arrow on the right and select disabled.
    8) click APPLY

I also noticed that Nero starts much more quickly than before. I recommend you test different blank media.

  • I have only 300 GB, I discovered that 32 of the tokk games up to 3.32 GB. Can I burn it to a DVD and use them like that?

I have only 300 GB, like I had more but don't know how to do in this regard. I win a lot of Bigfish games, I discovered that 32 of the tokk games up to 3.32 GB. I have more than a hundred of their games I bought so I hate to remove them. Can I burn it to a DVD and use them like that?

I may be possible. There are several factors that can stop the games run from a DVD.
A better option for success would be to use a USB stick, but I'll be referring to DVD.
The kind of games that you download big fish are more likely to be able to run from a DVD a lot of games. The best way to know is to burn on a DVD, but the process will be a little tricky when you burn the game to the DVD it will change the installation path (from C:\ to the drive letter of your DVD eg - E:\).
    You can try the following-
-Copy the folder of games on DVD

-Rename the folder the game is installed on the HARD drive. Just add a few letters before the name of the game, for example, Bejeweled to aaa Bejeweled.
If the experiment fails, simply remove you the extra letters and plays the game.
    (a) - If you do this, you go back to the original name to uninstall the game if you want to later, and the Launcher of Big Fish (or what is called the Big Fish program) may have a problem when you rename the Games folder as well, so don't try to run the game from the Big Fish app to use a shortcut.

-Make a new shortcut to the games .exe in the folder that you copied to the DVD. and see if the game will be launched from there.
    (a) you must always change the path on the new shortcut if it still reads
the original location of the game is installed.
To do this, you change the drive letter in the properties (R\Click on the shortcut)
in the original example - C:\.  There are two places you need to do this-
'Target' and ' start in '. If the name of the games is long, it may be easier to copy the
'Target' in Notepad to reveal the path drive. You can change the path of the reader here and then copy and passed to the 'target' box in the properties of the shortcut.
Do the same with "start in" if necessary.

If you have a lot of video or music, then they would be more suitable for playing from a DVD.
If you are running low on HARD disk space the best option is to install a second drive HARD a 500 GB HARD disk is cheap, better value for money than a USB key and easy to install.  There are many tutorials on the i-net for installation
    a HARD drive.

  • Satellite M40: Power calibration error - drive cannot burn DVD - RW more

My drive is a carpet * an oem UJ - 831S. After a screw-up partitioning job, I had to format my HD and reinstall Windows XP... and then I can not burn DVD - RW more.

Tried many programs such as Nero and a fireman, gives an error of calibration of power from the beginning.
Burning CD - r and CD - RW no problem however, and I can read CDs and DVDs of movies very well.

Google and searched for a month without success, tried to blow the laser lens, but there is no dust, I tried different media, etc. I know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincedence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.

An interesting note however, my laptop has not been provided with a CD of Toshiba, so I had to reinstall manually more drivers by downloading the Toshiba site, so I have a funny feeling, this could be a thing of the software/firmware, or even a framework.

I installed the new firmware 1.02 for the reader as well. I don't remember what the firmware was before resettlement, IE the laptop computer settings to factory default, I'd like to downgrade to 1.00 if possible.

Experts have ideas? And is there a way I can reset the firmware?

Maybe I could remove the drive from the system-> devices and let XP Reinstall for me?

    Hello

    > I don't know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincidence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.

Of course, it s simply to say the drive is dead because everything looks like a hardware malfunction. Most often the power calibration error appears because of the drive lens can't calibrate in the right position and thus cannot read some CD or DVD s s or it of not possible to write about them.

But maybe you are a lucky man and might try this procedure:
-Try to remove the drive physically from the Bay for laptop
-Restart the unit without the drive
-In this case the operating system should start from the HARD drive
-Close the notebook then reinsert the drive unit in the Bay of s for laptop
During initialization, the laptop should recognize the drive and must pick up the firmware

Then you can check if you can burn the DVD again, otherwise you will need a new drive

  • Qosmio F10 can't burn DVD + R

I cannot burn DVDs. I seem to be able to burn a DVD - RW OK and I was able to burn a DVD + R gift, I had, but with the pack of Philips DVD + r, I for the moment any attempt to burn the ends in an error, the software I use for burning, for example, Media Center, WinDVD Creator, Roxio MyDVD Studio. Does anyone else have this problem. I'm doing something wrong?

    Hello

I think that the cause of your problem are the DVD itself. DVD players are unable to handle all kinds of discs. They work with the right manufacturer discs. But Philips and other labels do not produce the disks, they buy them all. And there is no way of knowing who has really produced the records. So, you can try just serveral labels to find the good DVD. If you remember the label of the DVD + R, you burned, you should start with this one. But there is no guarantee that the disks of a label always work. The manufacturer may have changed.

It's an unfortunate thing, I know.
    Good luck!

  • How to extract non-consecutive pages of a pdf document. I can highlight in thumbnails but only extract consecutive.

How to extract non-consecutive pages of a pdf document?

I see its easy to do with the consecutive pages highlighting the thumbnails can "extract", but this does not allow for non-consecutive pages.

    Thank you

After you select the pages, you can drag and drop them somewhere,

as on the desktop, and a new file will be created with only the pages.

Highlighting the pages if not achievable, or too complicated to do, then a

script can be used where you specify which pages from script

extract them to a new file.

  • I can't burn my CD on Windows Media Player error "connect a burner and restart the player.

I have a bunch of files music m4a songs bought on iTunes that are on the Windows Media Player. I insert a blank CD, and he refuses to burn the songs. I put it in my laptop, go to the option burn and it says "connect a burner and restart the player ' and doesn't read that there is a CD in there, even if there is. Even if I put all the songs I want in it, it won't work. I need help.

No problem, at least it's a step forward that it is not only the media player.

At this point if the CD-ROM drive does not at all, it could be a couple of things.

    1. First of all, just make sure under the folders under the view tab Options, that the "hide empty drives" is not selected. It could make your CD-ROM writer hidden just because there is no data in there at the moment.
    2. The drive appears not could also be that it is disconnected, but it's not terribly likely.
    3. Check Device Manager to see if the CD drive is listed, and if she has any warnings associated with it. You can open the Device Manager by performing a search in the search box of the start menu.  Locate the CD drive in the list, and then double-click it to view the status. He can say everything is fine, or can provide details on all issues.  Also, while you're here, you can check an updated driver. But this brings me to the next point...
    4. If the driver he is already up to date, it is interesting to watch your your model computer manufacturer Web site see if they have a newer version. Sometimes Device Manager detects outdated drivers and uses, when the manufacturer's website has something more recent.

I created several burn (.fpbf) files that are sitting on my desktop.  I want to burn these file separated into one cd.  At present each file burn requires a blank cd.  Is there a way to turn it?

    Hey Bob79,

Being able to burn a lot of files on a disk is a great feature of backup files and carry them.

This article goes over how to burn items to a disc: OS X El Capitan: create and use a folder to burn

The way it is configured in OS X El Capitan you can burn only 1 file to burn to a disc and not multiple.

If you want to burn all the evidence of burning I suggest make a new folder to burn with all the elements that it.

You should get the drive you want.

    See you soon
